Anyone else hearing a rattle when the phone shakes?
I believe that's the OIS you're hearing.
OIS
As long as it's not super loud then yes I think this is normal and like others said is the OIS.
Got the S8 too and noticed the rattling too when shaking the phone. It never occurs during daily usage and only when enforced though. Also it is harder to create the rattling when the camera app is open, so it definitely is the OIS.
Just gave it a try. Little OIS rattles seems to be normal.

I just noticed when I'm using the camera, it makes a high pitch sound. It sounds like its trying to focus and the motor is squeaking, the sound isn't constant it sounds like it only doing it when its trying to focus.
anyone have the same sound????

You answered your own question, yes I have the sound also.
Same here...didn't notice it till now.
Thats right I also notice the same few days back it make a slight kirk sound when it try to focus or autofocus
I just got my 6P today and overall it's a fantastic phone. Performance is great, beautiful display (nice and bright), loud speakers - but when I opened Snapchat to record a video, I noticed the scene warped a bit when I was moving the camera. I then opened the camera app and noticed the same thing. It stuttered a bit too, but the bottom part kind of warped like a gold-fish eye effect.
Anyone else experience this?

It is a side effect of the EIS. It keeps the video smooth but gives a "jello" like effect sometimes. I am assuming Google plans to tweak the stabilization in the future to reduce this effect.

Like someone else mentioned, this is what EIS does. Basically it crops the video slightly to help compensate for shake and jitters. It's a good feature but I wish it was possible to disable it. I don't like how it crops videos in snapchat.
Guys I've noticed when recording a video and I focus on something close the focusing noise comes through when playing the video back. When I move away from the object I can hear the camera ree focus but the buzzing is not loud. The refocusing noise is only loud when I focus on something close.
How is the camera? Can you make with the camera close macro photo's?

I have not had that experience. I just tried it now in my office and I didn't hear any focusing noise. I went from focus on a wall about 10 ft away to a water bottle maybe 10 inches away and no focus sound.
The video was not made in total silence you could hear some people moving around in the background but it was pretty quiet.
I was super impressed with how quickly it refocused though!

The camera is very impressive. The auto focus is faster than my DSLR. The picture quality is better than any smart phone I ever had. There was a lot of talk about the lack of Image Stabilization but my last phone had stabilization and i often got blurry photos in low light anyway. The 6p gets crisper shots w/o the stabilization.
You can't really take "macro" photos w/o using a macro lens adaptor. You can get rather close though. I have found the auto focus will focus on things as close as 5 inches away (I measured it).
The autofocus can refocus from less extreme distances so quickly that you can't even really see it. It is almost instant.

Thanks for the confirm that macro shots works with auto focus. How about 5 inches? How much cm?

I'm pretty sure that's the camera focusing. Not sure if it's software or hardware?
Is anyone else experiencing it?
I just took a couple of test videos and noticed that there is a slight sound when focusing. However, it's only discernible with the volume way up. At that point you're going to hear all kinds of other distracting/background noises as well (in my case the hum of the fridge and my fan). Not really a deal-breaker for me.

That you hear the auto focus in your movie you take to record is not good..

I'm pretty sure that sound is your hand moving the camera not the lens focusing.
It's definitely the autofocus. Put the phone next to your ear and tap to focus for a picture. You'll hear very fast clicks. My best guess is this is the laser firing repeatedly for laser auto focus. A diode firing can make a sound. Idt there is anything that can be done about this.

With a wide angle lens auto focus works at under an inch
I think it maybe cause by the camera's OIS components.
Is that normal?
can i return warranty?:crying::crying::crying:

Mine has a slight noise when I shake it with the camera off. With the camera on it does not make the noise. I have heard about this on other phones as well and it has not proven to be a problem or cause any issues that I am aware of. I have had my phone since November and it is fine.
i have had 3 of these phones. All had the noise. Once camera is activated it stops. It is the OIS.
So I've been using gcam for a while and never have resorted to oos cam other than for video recording. So today I used oos cam again and tried to zoom in and suddenly I had this weird sensation in my hands. On putting the phone closer to my ears I could hear a buzzing sound. This sound only comes into play when telephoto lens is used and whenever the main lens is used it doesn't have any buzzing. I wanted to know if anybody else have the same issue and like the buzzing of the earpiece that eventually went away will this go away too?
Any suggestions are welcome. I'm attaching pictures taken in the main lens and comparing it with the telephoto lens which clearly suffer from a lack of sharpness so I think this has something to do with focusing of the telescopic lens.
