Good morning
I bought Shield TV today.
I linked this with TV and tried to see an educational app.
But my educational app will refuse HDMI connection to prevent capture.
To view the shield TV, I need to connect HDMI, but the application rejects it.
Is there a way to use the app?
Is there any trick that seems HDMI is not connected?
I have a custom ROM installed and I have the routing.

What app is it that you're trying to use? It's funny because HDMI is generally hard to capture to a video input.

Hmm hopefully one of the other members gets in here. I don't run a custom ROM. So does the app have a message that appears when you launch it?

Shield TV both basic and custom ROM do not work.
The error message is as follows.
"Please remove HDMI cable and try again."
Just another thought, try run it on your phone and cast to shield tv and record the HDMI output.
P.s. I can run it on my HTC 10 and cast to shield tv, and then use shield tv to capture the screen output
There is a xposed module called "skycast", which exactly is, what you are looking for. Search for it...
I havent rooted my shield and have no idea, if xposed is working on android tv. And there is still no xposed framework for Android 7.x.

Is there a way or an app that will allow you to project your tablet screen to a tv? For work we need a TV that will allow us to project the tablet screen on it. We have yet to buy a TV yet and we currently have Galaxy S tablet as an option or the Moto Xoom as another option. Any suggestions? I've Googled for a solution and I've also looked through the market and haven't found anything. Being able to project wireless would be MUCH preferred.
Thanks!
You have the software on the tab already its called All share but you have to use a Samsung TV and that also has to have All Share on it.

I think he means an app that can do the same thing as the HDMI dock. The HDMI dock allows everything to be projected to the TV, not just media. In other words a mirroring app such as ones that exist for the Droid X and EVO but wireless. I would be interested in this find as well. Right now I use the HDMI dock which works quiet well but a wireless solution would be gold.
I use a $24 cable I bought from ebay. Then I project my screen through my video projector, but to a tv would be just as simple.

As has been said already, this only allows you to share media (eg video) rather than apps/homescreen etc.
However, Allshare is a DLNA client/server that works with any other DLNA device, not just Samsung TVs.

This cable is a nice and cheap alternative. However keep in mind that it won't charge your tab while it is in use while the HDMI dock does.

Yup you sure can. If you have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse you can do anything from your couch if you wanted to. I recommend the Logitech dinovo mini or dinovo edge if you want this option.
I know this thread is kind of old but I want to ask...I want to do the samething wirelessly on my note 10.1 2014....now I don't have a smart TV but with chromecast is it possible? Also would chromecast have to be rooted? I don't want to be able to use some apps...I want to be able to see my TV the same exact way that I do while it is on the tablet

How about the usb cable? I am not sure about your tablet, but it should have a tv out option in the settings. I hope this helps.

I got a Samsung tv, but can not find a remote controller with a full qwerty keyboard.
It would be cool to type with my Nexus 7 to browse YouTube on my flat screen led tv.
Any idea?

Would be Wi-Fi streaming. Your tv would need to have Wi-Fi access, or you would need to get a device to do that for you. Software apps are coming to do that.
Search for Miracast or Android Transport to see some examples.
Nothing avail just yet but hopefully soon.

I used this app from Google Play store on my Samsung Advance: Samsung Remote but it doesn't work on my Nexus 7.
There is also Samsung Remote Tab... for tablets... doesn't work. I don't know why ...
I'm interested in a solution . post here if you find one
you can side load the samsung remote .. i did it from a ti backup off my a500 tablet.. iT DOES WORK once you get it on the device...
i have samsung smart tv...
Search in the Play Store for 'Smart TV Remote Tab' by developer Adiroid. It is far better, as the app by Samsung. Even sending text is no problem. It's free

Cheers for the replies guys. i'll try some other cables and see if that was causing the problem!
One further thing to check is your TV settings. On my TV for example you had to enable the port in the TV settings before you could even switch to it. Also depending on what the port was defined as it may or may not pass audio. Worth digging around in your TV menus.
Snow/Noise
I have a rooted KFHD. Get frequent snowing effect on the TV when using the HDMI cable. I believe it is the cable, but have read everywhere that HDMI doesn't get noise/snow. So could it be the device or the port?
Snow doubtful.... but snow in general is doubtful
Is this hooked direct into your tv or is there a box between.

Bassbase,
Yes, we use it weekly in the office on a Kindle Fire HD 8.9" and a Kindle Fire HD 7", it works flawlessly on a 72" TV which we use for presentations with sound and at home I use a HDMI Converter on an old TV at home, it too works flawlessly with Netfix and Hulu. What apps are you using? Have you tried Hulu or Netflix? I can say Root is not needed to make the HDMI Port function properly nor does Root affect the HDMI Port. If you give me the App name we will test it in the office.
Oneplus One Screen cast issue solved (Conditionally, for sure and in a little simpler way)!!
Wait..May be there wasn't any issue at all!
I read thru many forums people complaining about unable to cast OPO screen or expressing their annoyance that Chromecast is not supporting OPO for screencast yet..
Here is one of the popular and working solutions by an xDA member, Thanks @r3pwn :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/hardware-hacking/chromecast/experimental-enable-mirroring-device-t2812193
But hey..! There may be an easy way! CynogenMod OPO doesn't need any Chromecast support! Not even Chromecast itself!
There may be a other solution posted somewhere, but I did not find any. So I'll just go ahead and post this guide. I'm pretty sure it's gonna help somebody!
Here is what I did to cast my OPO to my Samsung Smart TV. Easy peasy!
1. Make sure your OPO and TV are on same Wi-Fi network. (This step may not be necessary, but I haven't tested yet without this step.)
2. Many of you are aware that there is an option for OPO in the Settings > Display and Light > Cast Screen > "On"
3. Even after that you most probably won't see you TV listed there. Now here's the catch on next step. Follow Either Step 4a or 4b, whichever works for you. (Either should work, but just in case..)
4a. In OPO, go to Setting > Wi-Fi > Options Menu > Wi-Fi Direct. You should see your TV listed there. Select that, and allow for any Connection Prompt on OPO or TV.
4b. In TV (samsung Samrt TV in my case), go to Menu > Network > Wi-FI Direct. Your OPO should be listed here. Select that, and allow for any Connection Prompt on OPO or TV.
5. Now in TV, go to Menu > Network> Allshare Settings> Screen Mirroring. The TV will be ready to receive the stream from OPO.
6. After this, go to the Settings > Display and Light > Cast Screen on OPO. We've already turned it on, so now you shold be able to see your TV there. Just click on it and that's it!
You should now be able to see your OPO screen on your TV (Samsung Smart TV for sure). Response is pretty fast; it may not be suitable for high accurate timing games, but other than that, this works like a charm..! Oh, and the TV screen is fully filled when rotating your OPO in landscape mode. I was able stream 1080p video file without any jittering or quality loss! Complete audio and video! Do post back on your experiences..
I believe, the pairing for Wi-Fi Direct was the key step here. I assume everyone who failed to cast their screen did not paired for Wi-Fi Direct.
This guide should work for other phones and/or TVs, as long as DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, and Screen Mirroring is supported on both devices. Steps and menus will vary a bit, but that's all!
If any of you get other devices working , please feedback...
Enjoy casting..! :good:

I wonder why you see other Android devices and not OPO.. It should at least be visible to the TV. May be there is some other issue before regarding connection at first?
Are other android devices able to connect to TV? nd via Wi-Fi Direct? Can they cast the screen?

Doesn't work with LG LM6410. Other Android devices show up on the TV but my OPO doesn't and vice versa. The TV, too, doesn't show up in the WiFi Direct screen of OPO.

Yeah... weird, indeed! Even if screen mirroring is not supported, at least the connection should be made between TV and OPO.
You had Cast Screen setting "On" and were you on same Wi-Fi as TV?

After you've successfully connected, first go to Screen Mirroring in TV. Then you TV will be ready to receive the stream and will show up under Cast Screen setting. Make sure that setting is turned on.
