P9 Lite PIN problem - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

Hey, I installed Nougat B360 on my P9 lite and the only issue I found so far is that if I have a PIN lock active, if I reboot the phone the PIN doesn't work to unlock it, and there is no other way to access the phone.
I read a few topics and finally found that the pin requirements for first boot is because of the device encryption Android uses. I read that I can go for file based encryption and the problem is solved, but I cannot find that option in developer options.
I don't want to disable PIN lock because I wanna use the fongerprint, and rolling back to MM is not worth it.
So anyways, is there another workaround for this, or a fix for the problem itself?

It's not possible on stock ROM. The PIN for the first boot it's an Android security thing.

Samsung J500F misterious lock screen bug

Model: Samsung J500F
Baseband: J500FXXU1BPF2 (Portugal)
Greetings to everyone.
My samsung j5 has a bug with the lock screen, which seems never ocurred with someone else.
It started when after i updated to Android Marshmallow after OTA updates and then i made a factory reset. After that i tried to put a Pin in lockscreen and after the pin was confirmed i locked the phone. When after a while i hit the button to turn the screen on it didnt asked the pin. In fact when i tried to change the pin in security settings it asked me a pin which wasn't the same that i put before.
To trying to solve this i though of doing a new factory reset, so i had to go to mysamsung.com to unlock the phone via remote controls and then i succefully reseted the phone.
The problem is that in the middle i forgot that and tried to do root but something went bad and i did lost the warranty but root didn't work. So a days after I tried to put a pass code and again the same error, this time asking for a password that didn't match mine.
I did some troubleshot:
-after Putting another pin the phone sends me to the previous page (security page) and instead of "pin" method to unlock screen it says "swip finger"
-it happens with passcode and pattern code too but when pattern code is choosed if i go to change it it firstly shows a pattern change screens but in a sec it dissapear being possible to put a new one and have the same bug
-I downloaded and installed a stock rom to my baseband and model (android 6.0 but my phone came with 5.1) and the error still exist.
-samsung support said to use smart switch initialization service but it says that my device doesn't support.
Notes: I didn't want to install a custom rom cause i like the samsung style.
Like i said: warranty is now voided (knox 0x1 (2)).
Any help would be apreciated.
Ps: I will provide screenshots and more info if needed.

Sent from my Huawei P8 using XDA Labs
I try evrything I find on internet and is not working, there is anybody with the same problem with p8 lite?
Im also facing the same issue.. please post if you found some solution
Exact same issue here
I found a way to "cheat" it
Set code to pattern->get pattern wrong 5 times -> password now removed
Would like to see a permanent fix though
Or AOSP lockscreen lol

I have android 6.0 and i face the same problem. Any fix yet?
huawei p8 lite, android 6, screen lock problem
I activated PIN screen lock for testing VPN, yesterday in the morning, and after that I was not able to remove it. The only thing that worked for me was setting pattern and backup PIN, and to make wrong pattern five times, as someone before suggested. Option none is still "grey" but at least I do not have any more screen lock of any kind. Thank you very much. :good:
your post saved me from going totally nuts!
Just to say thank you!

I've searched whole the net and found nothing. Your cheat worked, and I've just signed up in XDA to thank you. :victory::victory::victory:
After using a wrong pattern several times (it took well over 5), it says "Try again in 30 seconds". Grr…
It's a P8 Lite running Android 6.0 as the latest firmware (…B584).
1)opt for screenlock>back pin password
2)now try wrong pattern in screenlock till it comes for FORGET THE PASSWORD
3)now go for back up pin
4)now you will get an option to select screenlock.now also NONE optionwill be grey
5)don't opt anything that and press back
6)after this screen lock option becomes automatically NONE,even without any selection(go to settings and check it)

your the bast ....worked with me to huawei y6 ii :good:

Works for me too! (P8 Lite)
Hi,
As most devices running Android 5.0 and newer are encrypted by default, this might be the cause that you are unable to remove the lockscreen protection. It uses a locally stored and randomly generated key until a lockscreen protection method is enabled, then switches to this as the encryption key.
If disabling the device managers and erasing the Certificates do not allow you to remove the lockscreen protection, there is an option under Developer options> Screen lock. Disabling this will remove any lockscreen protection that is in place. If this is also grayed out the only option is to perform a full factory reset of the device (including internal storage wipe) in order to reset the encryption key.
Cheers

System Encryption doesn't work anymore

Hello Everyone!
After a few months I've updated my phone from Android 5 to Android 6. I had already activated system encryption on android 5. All worked well until a few weeks, now the system encryption isn't available anymore and i can't activate it. I made no firmware update or anything else. On android 6 is no point to activate system encryption. When I set a pin or password for screen lock I am not able to check it for start up. The only thing I do is to switch between two SIM cards (Single Sim) but this should not be a reason to deactivate the encryption without any message. Has anybody similar problems?

Help: Removing PIN from TWRP and System

Hello,
I need help: my note 7 asks me for a PIN when I start the system (Android) and also when I enter TWRP, and I want to remove these PIN requests.
In the 1st rom change (from Miui to pure Android - HavocOS), I did, in the following order:
-format data
-Wipe: system, dalvick, cache and date
When the system started for the first time, I configured the fingerprint sensor together with a 4 digit PIN and it is this PIN that I have to put in the system and the TWRP.
I tested other roms (Bootleggers, crDroid) and it happens the same. I've tried other recoverys, including OrangeFox and the same happens.
I've also tried reinstalling the rom by doing only format data (not doing Wipes) and doing the same.
I received the device with the rom: MIUI 10.3 Stable (10.3.5.0) [PFGMIXM]
The model name is: M1901F7G.
The Android version: 9 PKQ1. 180904.001
What else can I do?
Try not to setup pin after flashing rom and see bro...
I have managed to solve half of the problem: it is no longer encrypted and in TWRP it no longer asks for any PIN.
But on Android I do not accept the PIN that I set up along with the digital print, tell me that it is wrong.
Now the problem is to use PIN + fingerprint. I set up a PIN and when using that same PIN, tell me the PIN is wrong.
If you do not configure PIN, I can not use it without problems, but I lose access to the use of the print sensor
I rooted my device and installed magisk on the stock rom miui 10.3.5 for redmi note 7 will i receive ota updates?
and if not in order to flash newer miui versions of the rom do I need to flash vb meta?

i am in the same situation man, i don't understand what is the problem and what is wrong...
In my case it was bad configuration, because I set up safe boot and this way I mistakenly assumed that this was related to encryption, but the error was only mine.
Check if you have set safe boot. With safe, always-on boot (a pin, a pattern or a password) every system boot and every time you enter TWRP.
Sorry my English.

P8Lite removing encryption

Hi,
I think I made a big mistake when playing around with an branded P8 Lite. Unlocking went well and I was able to install TWRP ( Elite Dev. 3.2.1 ) Sofar so good. But since I did not assign an screen unlock code before it is not possible to remove the encryption at all. So not possible to flash a different ROM, tried several tips I found but nothing worked. Since the phone was never used before there is nothing on it which might be worthwhile to back up. Endresult is that I can access the phone via ADB and fastboot. But that's it.
Anybody with a clue on how to proceed ?
Tks
Henning
