That's cool to hear that

I've read somewhere that Lenovo/Motorola would skip 7.1.1 update straight to 7.1.2.
But it may be released just around July I think so.

Confirmation
Have you specifically asked for 7.1.1 update to the moto people or just update?

see this ,i contacted them today on sunday april 16 ,9;50a.m

arjun ts: when do we get the android 7.1.1 update for moto g4 plus??
Subrata Sahoo: Sure, I will help you in this regards.

Subrata Sahoo: You would be receiving the update soon. At present I would not be able to give you a specific date on the same. I request you to kindly visit the website http://www.motorola.com for further queries on this.
arjun ts: ok ,but the update will be 7.1.1 right??
Subrata Sahoo: Is there anything else I may assist you with?

I guess no one has received 7.1.1 in India.

I also just confirmed, they said they have already started to rollout 7.1.1..

Rollout started
Confirmed the thread!
They told its 7.1.1 and has stated rolling out last week and some of there device has already received the same! (don't know, under which rock those people are hiding in the world).
Can someone just get the update, features and what all new and updated things will come with that?

Plz guyz if anyone received 7.1.1 update so plz tell us....

I just confirmed, they told me that few people have already received it in India.

Official chat proof of the update

From the information they appear to be giving out, it could be that this 7.1.1 update may be initially deployed to those on the Motorola Feedback Network (explains the IMEI requirement), of course, those on the Network are bound by a Non-Disclosure agreement not to say anything. However, given this is XDA, anything can happen.

Can someone assure, by 7.1.1 they doesn't mean 14-4 update!?

No - if you see the screenshots of About Phone in the 93-14.4 update topic (https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/official-moto-g4-plus-ota-update-build-t3584982), you'll still see it's v 7.0 - looks like it's just a security update to deliver the 1st March 2017 security update (would be nice to have the more complete 5th March security patch though).

Wonder when he 1640 (Brazil) will be getting this, since few days ago I got the march security patch but still 7.0

I think wait for some days to receive OTA Nougat bcz i don't think anyone got officially OTA Nougat...
I can confirm this. I had flashed MPJ24.139-63 earlier and received Nougat OTA Update. But since mine was rooted and had TWRP recovery, it failed. So I took the downloaded file and flashed MPJ24.139-63 again hoping I'd get the update. But now it tells my device is up to date.

This is nothing in plain sight for people in the United States as we get the chaft everytime. Good device but thought they followed Googles lead in their device updates. Here is what is received from Lenovo
My name is Mohammed from Motorola E-mail Support and it will be my pleasure to assist you with any concern that you might have. I hope that your day is going great so far.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience that we may have caused you.
In this case let me tell you that you can check for updates by going to Settings > About Phone> system updates. If the device says it's up to date, and you have not received the notification update, you should wait until the notification to arrive since it is sent via OTA, by the way let me tell you that we do not send system updates in this case you can also contact your carrier about this issue since they are in charge to send it.
I would also suggest you to please keep checking our software update page periodically:

I can't say for all carriers but I know that most have the final say on when the updates are pushed out. Since they field calls for problems their support people have to be up to speed on each release. Almost across the board you'll see the following when you put in your carrier "This device will be upgraded to the Android 7 (Nougat) release, pending partner support."
It sucks.

The only way to remain risk free let the update notification arrive and then update from there. Anything else has an element of riskiness involved.
But soak test otas can be flashed if you can bear the risk

Ok thanks!
Is there such a problem with waiting? I mean really? If you are so desperate for an upgrade install a custom ROM. It's not officially released yet and only reports of soak tests are not through Motorola. Please be patient. It's better to have it right than not.

My thoughts exactly. I can see the point if someone wants to install a custom rom, lord knows I've done it enough, but installing a soak test that could kill your real OTA or contain bad code, borders on ridiculous. If you don't have a chance of receving Nougat then I'd go for it, but AFAIK, all the G4's are going to get it. I actually had an official soak test on a previous phone and it killed my final ota.

The May security patch is on Firmware Finder
Yes and next month we will see June security patches that will finally put an end to the Oreo "telenovela" for this device. For the future idiots comments that i'll read...June is the last term for "Q2 2018" so the last hope to see the major update. We will see, personally day after day my hope goes down...but i really wish i could be wrong
Maybe the patch will never be deployed alone and will deploy it with Oreo update

Noone seems to be concerned that Honor/Huawei released "May 2018 security patches" in.. April?

When do you think "next month patch" is written and tested ?
OEM most probably have google patches before their official release, for testing purposes. Such as : https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-a1-android-8-1-oreo-beta/
The "fake patches" you're talking about are incomplete security patches, in which a few patches are missing, not fully faked ones.

No need to open the 100th thread about Oreo update. You could have used this one instead:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/how-to/official-moto-g5-8-1-oreo-release-notes-t3804632
The release notes regarding Oreo update
https://support.motorola.com/us/en/solution/ms130856
are saying the update is coming with Oreo and with the June security patch for Oreo, not for Nougat. As the soak tests haven't even started it is not expected that Oreo comes to our device before August.

[NEWS] OTA OPSS28.65-36-6 was received today

Hay guys!
I am glad to report that today I received the update OPSS28.65-36-6 via OTA.
Around 75MB, it's just a patch.
December 1, 2018
Android 8.1.0
I live in Argentina and my baseband is RETAR.
What phone do you have? The G5+ is on the OPSS25.85 series. I think G5S is on the series you have posted.
Well, i received December security update today, but my phone is RETBR so is probably why my version number is different, here some screenshots.

Update???

I received an update for my yoga tab 2 days ago. Strange considering I was already running Android 7.1
The update was about 1.6GB and installed without a problem.... My only question is...... What did it DO/FIX???
Anyone know?

Knowing anything about the update I do not! But I want to confirm:
Yesterday, on April 19th 2020, I recieved and downloaded and obviously successfully installed a new update.
My build number now is "YT-X703L_S120015_200317_ROW". Still Android 7.1.1, security patch level 01 May 2018.
Sadly I didn't check the number before the update ...

It's odd to receive an update that doesn't include A RECENT security patch. The not said "but fixes" but didn't give any details and had no new features.... So I'm questioning why the update was rather large if it only had a few bug fixes
Received an update notification, but reluctant to install. Do you have any issues or battery drainage after update? Is it stable? Is there a change log available? Can't find any info abou this on other forums.

Performance is about the same.... Maybe a little snappier than before. Battery seems a little worse but that may be the 2 year old battery degrading. Other than that I can't tell any difference.
