Worth $100? - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Have an opportunity to buy a used OP2 for $100, which I'm going to assume everything is functioning as intended. Now my question is, is the phone worth the money nowadays, or would you recommend something else in that ball park? Been using iPhones again for the last couple of years, and since my 5x ate ****, I've been having the Android itch.
Any advice from you OP2 owners out there?

seems a great deal
just try some custom roms while u are at it [RR]
U are gonna love Android

Ya you'll like the op2 for a hundred !

When will our Nexii become old news?

Im getting my N1 tommorow, and I feel like regretting it for some reason.. not for "some reason".. just because I feel like it will be old soon.. and after I just got it..
When will our beloved Snapdragon device finnaly become nothing? If there planning on releasing a 2GHz processor for our phones soon, i'd say maybe next year. Though hopefully not..
Other than that, this phone seems to have an incredible lifespan.. the only way I could see a better Android phone coming out is that it has a better processor (as stated above). Or more RAM, of course.. which has already been done.
Really, I just need some reassuring that such a costly device isnt thrown in the garbage simply after a few months. My mommy didn't want to get this for me as is =/
Alas, there is no way to cease innovation.
The hardware on this device is underutilized. The nexus is the snappiest phone out there. With the g1 and mytouch I could feel the lag, but on the nexus the nexus the UI is snappy, I don't know if I need a device faster than the nexus. If Google addresses the software issues I think this phone can become noticeably smoother and better in so many areas. With adequate attention from android this phone can be relevant for years. I think video calls will become pretty standard as will much better camera hardware and that will eventually put the nexus towards the back of the 'superphone' pack. The nexus camera is disappointing but from what I understand it can vastly improve with software updates.
Basically the phone is performing below its capabilities which is exciting but also disconcerting in that there is no dependable indication that Google will address the minor and major issues that make the nexus somewhat disappointing. Only time will tell, the potential is there, we just need to motivate Google.

Who cares?
Resell for $300-$400 and buy the next phone from www.google.com/phone unlocked and off-contract and BAM, back in business.
Google selling phones off-contract = most awesome thing ever. It's sure to shake up the US mobile industry.

I didn't know/think someone would buy the phone for such a price with it being outdated at the time of selling. Guess it doesn't matter though, I will use your advice.
And thanks for the thorough post Maverick, your typing did not go to waste - I read it all. Didn't know the Nexus was performing under expectations - or not being fully utilized. Quite exciting, actually. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this device.

Oh trust me, people are definitely willing. Especially people that don't follow tech news.... Muwhahahahah!
Case in point, I sold my G1 last month for $160. I posted on here about it and others said they sold it for $200+. The kicker is that I got mine for $99 on Amazon, so after using it for 10 months, I even made a profit
Considering here in Australia, the best android phone you can get is a Hero, my nexus one is going to be top of the pack for some time, the best thing that has been annouced here will be the desire in april. But the specs are nearly similar, and there are pros and cons to sense UI.
This phone will last a while if it is properly supported by android updates.

Paid 50 for my G1 because some stupid guy at work thought that he liked his shadow much better, in January of 2009. Sold my G1 for 200 on craigslist February 17th, made huge profit. Too many ill informed individuals to take advantage of...... I guess it works for me.
That is all actually interesting! As a matter of fact, I have a G1.. I didn't think if selling it for 200$ or more though. I couldn't anyways, its in mint condition.. but I broke the screen. While it is still usable, I doubt anyone would want it. I'll just sell it cheap, lol.
Taking advantage of the not tech savy people, a new way for me to make profit I see.. niceeee...

Protect your screen! With a screen protector ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618006 ) or a case! My G1 was in 99% perfect condition when I sold it (I dropped it once and the corner was a bit gummed up).
A few bucks on either yields a few hundred when it's time to sell. Worth it, isn't it?
You know what the sad thing is.. I have a case, the perfect case that would've caused the screen not to break.. but I was getting tired of having a case on all the time, and a few weeks, or days, after I removed the case - I dropped the phone face down - and that was the end of it =/ I would've been devastated if I knew I wasn't get my N1 anytime soon.
I learned my lesson though.. the hard way.

tomorrow..HTC Supersonic for sprint 4.3 inche screen, 4g ..
man i hope they announce it tomorrow

I think my iphone 4 is way better than my nexus one......

.......because i sold it for $700, thats way more than i can sell my nexus one for.....so that has to mean its a better phone. hahahahah!!!
the iphone 4 is a good phone, but its not the nexus one. I love to tinker with the settings and to be able to just change every thing on the phone. Which the iphone doesnt offer. Im not tied down to what itunes will give me as far as updates.
Its also nice to be able to download an OS update and be able to actually update it while im sitting at work with no wifi and no computers in sight.
Im not an iphone hater, but given the choice to keep one phone, i decided to keep the n1 and get a little bit of pocket change on the side, i think its a win-win for me! Used it good for a whole week, and it felt so much just like my old 3gs. But the design is what won me over, i love the industrial look and it has a solid feel to it.
But i still cant believe i sold my iphone for that much. Its not like I had to work hard to get the iphone too. 2 hours max in line and i was on my merry way with the phone.
anybody else bought an iphone 4 and sold it?
No but you damn well better believe I'm going to be the first one preordering to do just that the next WWDC/announcement. Haven't done any stock trading with apple since the first iphone when I bought call options before the announcement.. cause after that it wasn't a sure thing IMO on a price move. This sounds easier than trying to get that trade right. Plus I get to mess around with it a week? Awesome.
I'm keeping my iPhone 4 it still is an excellent iPod. My main driver is my Nexus one.
Just because you mention the Nexus One doesn't mean this should go in this forum.. Meh.
very funny post. Judging from the thread subject, I clicked on it to watch the flaming. I will probably never own an iPhone myself. I am sick of paying big money for contracts and went the prepaid route. I picked the android Motorola i1 - the latest from boost mobile. I'm very happy with it. Now if only it could get its own forums on xda...
Iphonie Sux Nexus Rocks
Exactly my thoughts...
I´m waiting for my contract to run out...then I plan to threat Vodafone to jump into Vomit-Star and their Iphone4, they will react offering me the same phone at a better price...I will sold it, then pick another Nexus for my Girl, and keep the rest of money in pocket.
Bah, I'm just waiting for iPhone 4 in Australia, I wish it'd be released here soon...
There are several Nexus One vs iPhone threads already in this forum, please use the search function and do not start a new thread. Also if you are asking a question then direct it to the N1 Q&A Forum, not here - as already stated in the stickies.
Thanks

Working to a strict budget on upgrading. Help appreciated.

Now that the N1 is 'obsolete' and ICS isn't coming I feel as though it may be time to move on.
This may take a while though as I effectively have no money and the money I get from the N1 is the majority of what I can spend.
Basically the deal is that I can get either £85 quickly from a recycle site or no more than £100-120 selling my N1 and from Ebay I have found that for this with some lucky bidding I could get a nice used LG Optimus 2X or Motorola Atrix.
Not exactly the best N1 replacements but both have Tegra 2 and are good for the money.
This will be a depressing upgrade and I'll miss this forum but its time for my N1 to go.
If anyone in the UK has any hints for getting a cheapish replacement with better hardware please tell me. The limit is £120 really, thats all I can spare.
If I don't post between now and then, goodbye and thanks everyone!
Are you completely missing the thread on ICS AOSP going on over on the dev forum? They are making huge progress. In less than a week we'll have a strong working build... don't give up on the N1 yet!
Yeah sorry I have seen that thread and yes it's brilliant but I just seriously want to move onto another phone now. I've just suffered too many problems from the N1 and being denied ICS kinda tipped me over the edge.
In all fairness though it could take some time to get a replacement this way so I will be keeping involved with that thread.
But the N1 just isn't for me anymore...
If it were me then and I wanted to upgrade within that price range, the Atrix is a good choice... However, I would rather find a Nexus S though to upgrade to ICS sooner. The devs for that phone are making huge progress and it is now fully functional. I bet you could find a good condition used NS if you're interested, but know in advance that the specs aren't really that different than the N1. Well, good luck anyway...
I am in the same boat the denial of ICS for the n1, kinda set me off, only reason I am looking for a new phone. Luckily for my n1 I can't afford a new one for a while, and texasice and many other brilliant people have been working on a good soon to be fully stable and functioning build. I haven't tried alpha 8 or 9 yet. But was quite happy with them.
Problem is, I have yet to find a phone that I can even say is remotely a good replacement. I wanted the T-Mobile G2 to be it, but it was just way to big. Love the having the keyboard though.
But I know how you feel. I don't think anyone would buy mine, it slid down a roof screen down, and scratched up, a corner of the glass is broke (in an non multi-touch functioning area).
Best of luck to you in finding a home. Hopefully someone here would love to buy it. I would for my girlfriend, as she hates her Samsung Captivate. But I don't have no money too lol.
Maybe a tip -however, above your proposed budget: I'm in the same ship, leaving my (really loved!) N1 because of lack of ICS support from Google.
Here in the Netherlands you can get Nexus S for eur 250, simlock-free; as for me, the best choice at this moment. You can order one at different sites (belsimpel.nl, phoneshop.nl, etc), eur 250 for a Google phone, getting ICS update among the first looks me a good deal/ upgrade of my loved N1.
Why not wait for a new quad core phone? No point in buying other obsolete hardware like an atrix. I personally wouldn't get anything less than a Galaxy Nexus, and even that is dual core.
Just wait for a WXGA quad core phone. Your nexus still has life in it! I just switched to MIUI and that will keep me happy until ICS gets hardware acceleration. You will regret upgrading now in a few months.

Yeah sure if you can get the OP a quad core for £120 like he said he had available. I'm in the same boat myself and the Atrix is the only dual core for that price range. Even got me thinking about it but I hate the MotoBlur crap its infected with and not removable from what I've seen although can be somewhat hidden which makes me think Nexus S maybe my best option.
At least if your gonna give advice read the OP first properly before commenting.
Have you tried comparemymobile dot com?
Before you completely give up on your N1, I suggest you give the ICS cm9 ROM a try. It made me fall in love with my n1 all over again lol. The latest update is really fluid and stable. Well that is just my opinion, wouldn't hurt to try.

if thats not enough to keep the good old n1 then go for the nexus s its pretty cheap and is getting official ics... though i personally hate plastic samsung hehe
Yeah, if you're working on a budget, there is no practical reason to upgrade from the Nexus One.
If you can get a slightly better phone, it will not be worth it. Take your current budget and keep it in a safe place for the Nexus 4 next year. Right now you won't be getting your money's worth. And the Nexus One is a great phone that will have a good ICS rom soon.
I could spend the money to upgrade to the Galaxy Nexus, it's not so much a budget problem, but a practicality problem. My phone is great, and will last me another year.

+1
The Nexus One really is the best of what is available within our price range, I just really don't like the styling of the Nexus S and its cheap arse casing and for what I gain it is not enough to tear me away from my trackball colour notifications
So for me I'm gonna buy it a Christmas present of a brand new housing and feel happy knowing that although considered 'old' now she still has the legs to more than stand her own.
Nexus S +s:
nfc?
Google talk video/voice chat?
Short term ICS?
Still with my N1

I agree with you. My 2 year's old N1 tastes ICS (thanks to blackrose and texasice!!). A new beginning without any cost!! Don't care if google doesn't support, devs are here to do the job and it's a great job. Thanks to all of them. Just have to wait few more days (Christmas present?) to have a beta version but alpha11 is quite good!

Is it worth it?

Hey guys,
I have a one plus one, the one plus 2 does look good, but my question here simply is: For those of you that own it, is it worth it? I'm on the fence about getting one and would like advice on this from people who actually own it and have first hand experience with it!
Kind Regards,
haynes11
apart of getting a little hot while playing games its amazing but nowadays the development is in very early stages, but i dont own a opo so i dont know if the diferences worth the money
Only you can really say if it's worth it. If you have the money and you want one then why not? If money is tight and your OP1 is still going strong then why not wait for next years model?
That's fair enough! I'm guessing it's a tad buggy still? If I do decide I want one from your guys advice I'll probably wait a while till it's stable!
I've not encountered any bugs, phone is solid as a rock, battery life is great. There are a few things about Oxygen I'd change but then I've never yet had a phone I didn't 'customise' to suit me better.
It's the same for when the OPO was first released. Bugs and battery life issues and even manufacturing issues. I own both and unless you want the camera and really want to stick with OnePlus, I don't think it's worth it if you already have the OPO. With the mature roms and kernel of the OPO, I'm not impressed at all with the OP2. I would just wait for it to mature before getting it unless you're like me and don't mind paying for immediate and current releases. Maybe when Android M comes out it'll be better but as it stands, without that and non existent hacks for fingerprint sensor, no rom has support for it.
There are numerous other threads where the same or similar question has already been asked. There is no need for yet another "Should I buy it" type thread.

If you were given a brand new iphone 6s+?

Would you some how try to get rid of it and buy a 6P or just use it? I know this is an android forum, but there are in the ios users in here as well.
If I needed some money I would sell it and get a 6p.. If not then I would just keep it. Interesting question!
Neither, I would find some novel/interesting way to destroy it, shoot a video and post it to YouTube...

Sell it and get something else. My wife has an iPhone and I don't see how people think that crap is okay.
I'd definitely try it out in a while. There's a number of reasons I don't use iPhones but price is definitely one. That being said it is a pretty solid phone when I used the 2G ages ago and I'd definitely give it a chance before I gave it away or sold it.
I would sell it. I tried the iPhone 4 for a week, never again. It's just boring to me
Wouldn't be caught dead with a device made by that company, not in a million years. I'd take some fool's money for it and purchase something decent.
I'd give it to my wife. She enjoys its simplicity of use and the apparent status it gives. I didn't buy the 6s for her form the 6, as it seemed not a great difference to the previous model. But that's the same reason I waited for the HN6P after my Note 4. Believe me I was itching to rid myself of it, but ... didn't really seem to be a point. I'd get too frustrated with the Apple lack of widgets (and no they don't have them) and I'd really get annoyed at missing a back button.
I'd sell it. The build quality of the iPhone is good but the software is gimped and its overpriced.
I'd sell it, buy a Nexus 6P (if I didn't already own one), then go to a fancy restaurant with the remainder of the money.

It depends. If all your "stuff" is in the Android ecosystem then converting to iOS would be painful. If that's the case you should sell the iP6s+ and get an Android phone. If you're in to rooting and ROM'ing then you should definitely get a 6P. If you're in to "features" you should consider a Note 5. Nexus forums are the least objective on XDA so if you're looking for different viewpoints you might want to post in an iPhone or Note 5 forum.
I tell most of my non-techie friends to get iPhones because they don't want choices, they want things defined for them. For those going Android I recommend Samsung or LG because their overlays make their phones more approachable.
BTW, nice gift.

As a longtime android phone user and ipad owner I would definitely sell it for a 6p. I absolutely cannot stand iOS for my phone. I am never closed minded for anything and own all platforms (except windows.... F windows) I won't use anything for a computer other than a mac... But I really hate iOS. Why do I use an ipad? Content really. For the tablet function and feature Android is too cumbersome, but for a daily driver... Android is far superior and while iOS claims to be more user friendly out of the box, in the long run I feel Android is after about a week. The Nexus 6p is the the BEST phone I've ever owned. My wife was also a longtime android user until her work switched her to an iphone 6 and we are both frustrated beyond belief by its limitations.
My lady has a 6s+, and she is jelly of my phone. My pictures are better, blacks on the screen aren't washed out, the fingerprint sensor is also in a more natural spot, and OK Google seems to answer questions a bit better than Hey Siri.
Put it quickly on eBay before you have brain damage!
Now that I have an N6P already, I will sell it and use the money on a Z4 Tablet or some minor phones/tablets I never had the chance to reach myself.
If I got give a iPhone it would be sold in first half hour of having it lol
I would sell the rotten Apple too and buy something decent for the money. iOS is a primitive operating system in comparison to Android.
Bit of a pointless thread isn't it?
On an Pure Android section, the vast majority are just going to say sell it and buy a 6P, ask the same question on an Apple forum and you will get the opposite answer. The 6P is not a cheap Android phone, so people who buy them do so because they want the Pure Android experience, not because they can't afford an iPhone.
Each to their own and people have personal preferences, and also investments in eco systems made over years now.
I would probably keep it as a backup phone.
