Do JFLTEXX ROMs work on all variants? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a JFLTEUSC, but most ROMs call for a JFLTEXX. If I flashed an xx ROM on my USC variant (Like ressurection remix) would cellular service work (calls, texts, data, etc)? Or would the phone not boot at all?

Not all ROMs will work on all variants. I believe it depends if your device is CDMA or GSM. In the USA only Sprint and Verizon are CDMA. If your device uses GSM, then you should be pretty safe to flash any JFLTEXX ROM.

Crap, because I have a CDMA phone. If I want to test a rom, could I just flash it and see if I get any signal?

Yes, but you most probably won't.
JDCTeam ROMs are universal.

So I'm pretty much stuck with JDC ROMs unless I want to use like 3 year old lollipop ROMs (Not that JDC is bad, but I would like some variety)? Shouldn't the modem handle all cellular services? How hard would it be to rebuild ressurection remix with CDMA?

There is Resurrection Remix for the Sprint S4 if you want to try that.

What Radio Are You Using, And With What ROM?

I've got a SM-G900T1, basically the Metro PCS version of the T-Mobiles S5.
For the most part AllianceRom has been my daily driver. I've tried a few different firmware and baseband combinations, but G3 seems rock solid.
How about other people? What are peoples experience with AOSP ROM's? What radios seem to work best for you?

[Q] Cyanogenmod 12 or any other AOSP ROM?

I want to know if its possible to flash a rom designed for t-mobile version of this phone, for example. I want cyanogenmod 12 and xposed. Thanks for your time.

Yes, but it probably won't have reliable radio. Not sure why you need to flash a t-mo tom... there are plenty of CM12, CM13, stock based and ports available that work with Verizon

What ROM is working 100% for ringplus/sprint?

a few months ago I tested out some roms but data was a crap-shoot on sprint. I've since switched to RP which is still sprint and want to try out a new rom again. So anyone have opinions on which is working well on sprint?
The best rom for this phone is also the most compatible: The Stock ROM! Just install FrankenClark Kernel and root, it's fast and pretty good on battery.
I don't know why data would be an issue on any ROMs, it shouldn't matter. Are you making sure to change the APN settings? I'm not on Sprint but I've never had trouble with ATT Data on Resurrection Remix (Probably my favorite ROM)
I stopped using RR because the Cyanogenmod base isn't as good on battery life as stock.
Did you end up finding anything that completely works?

AICP on my sprint has been excellent. 4G and all.
I second AICP, on nougat at the moment, but came from Orion OS, which is the best MM ROM I have used on this phone. EXODUS worked for me too, I prefer AOSP based ROMs, as the seem to have better battery life IMO.

Is Dirty Unicorns Dead? Suggestions for other clean-style roms?

Trying out a Sprint S4 (non T version), but not thrilled with the performance of the stock 4.4 ROM. Figured maybe 5+ would be an improvement, but wanted to go with something built for speed and efficiency (ie. not full of bloat) rather than let it update itself.
From what I've read, most people seemed to recommend Dirty Unicorns as a fairly clean and speedy ROM. I'm not looking for heavy modifications and skins or anything like that. Those kinds of things turn me off.
But, it seems that Dirty Unicorns is no longer supported on the S4, the links in the official thread are broken and the DU website doesn't list the S4 as a supported device... oddly, none of the Galaxy phones are listed as supported devices. Were we dropped? What happened? Is it still out there somewhere? Is there any other similar ROM that folks recommend?
I've got TWRP ready to go!

BlissPop is a great 5.1.1 ROM, CM13 is also a good 6.0.1 option. If TW is your thing, WickedX is your best 5.0.1 choice.

I don't particularly care for TW or not, I just want to make sure everything works as well as possible (sometimes AOSP roms need to be coaxed into working more than ones based on stock). Also things like Samsung's pedometer (S Health) have replaced my fitbit, and I'm hoping whatever ROM I install will still work with it.
Meanwhile, I can't believe I forgot about CM! I should have thought of that first. Those are always solid once they are officially supported by CM! But I wonder- is CM12 better on this hardware than CM13? In my experience over the years, I've often found that ROMs based on versions officially supported by the device worked better than ones that were pushing newer versions. At least CM12 is based on Lollipop, which IS available for this phone officially. But then again, this is CM we're talking about. If 13 works well, I have no qualms using it. Any advice on that one way or the other?

I haven't had any real problems on stock CM 13(officially supported device), I run SynergyOS which is cm based so I can undervolt and underclock. You can get S Health on CM ROMs if you go that route.

Any Note7 port ROM that work with Verizon?

Hello Everyone,
I've tried almost every N7 port for Note 3 and non of them are compatible.
Not sure if anyone knows or have a way to make those International N7 work on our N900v.
Thanks.
I know that feeling, many roms to install and test but difficult to decide with which to stay
I'll just tell you what to look for
Roms with aroma installer
Installers for camera n3, n4, s5 to select the one you like
Be able to choose the variant of note 3 from aroma
Additional features
rom control
Emojin ..... etc
All or almost, n7 roms work quite well on the n900v, with 4g functions
Roms n7 I've tried phronesis aryamod darklord
There are many roms, just install one and test for a week or two, if you are happy in that time stay with that
see you
Have you flashed the AryaMod ROM? I use it as a daily on my N3 (vzw)

There you go bud
I've flashed the Darklord ROM for the Note 3 onto my Verizon Note 3, although I'm using T-Mobile now. My 4G LTE works fine and everything else, though I had to install some fixes found in the forum of that post. I choose the T-Mobile CSC instead of Verizon.

You've used phronesis? It looks like our Verizon n900v isn't supported. Do you know of a Verizon port?
