Now that they dropped the price to
99 bucks everywhere, I'm interested to know if anyone would consider getting one? I'm still within my 14 day grace period and I'm seriously considering it.
I'm really not totally happy with the motox camera if I'm honest and there's a lot to like about the LG.

Be leery of that rear button if you carry it in your pocket. I have already received a few calls regarding it stopping working.
Imprinted directly to your mind via a Moto X
That's the thing that worries me, although spec wise it trumps a lot of phones.

too big of a screen. moto x is the sweet spot for me.
I returned G2 and got Moto X because:
Knock knock doesn't always work.
Camera at night sucks if the object moves at all.
Screen is a little too sensitive at times.
Lg UI is so heavy that it makes that beast of a processor cry at times, pretty laggy IMHO.
I held Moto X and it hit all the sweet spots from size to speed and active display and other features are reliable. It's hard to beat Motorola quality. Camera is pretty decent since upgrade. Overall, moto x is a better package if I may say.

Too big. Same with the Nexus

I hear you guys. I do really like the form factor of the motox. I guess I need to give it some time and love. I think I may have been spoiled with the camera on my SGS3 previously. My photos really don't seem as good. It's a shame.

The chances of getting KitKat. Moto X and G2 are the same price with contract now. The chances of you getting kitkat on the G2 by this year and on Verizon is very slim. Unlike the moto X where leaked builds are already coming in.

There was a rumor in the G2 section that stated 4.4 wouldn't be released till mid January since LG is supposedly going to redo its whole UI. Add a month to that for Verizon and yeah...
Just a rumor but something to think about. I'm aiming to get the Moto X in a 32GB flavor. Leaning towards the dev edition but it's hard passing up an opportunity to be able to use motomaker on vzw.

I just bought an lg g2 for sprint yesterday just have to wait until it gets here, trying to sell my moto x as we speak. Moto x is not a bad phone at all it really grew on me but the phone is just too small for me.
The only thing that would stop me from buying a G2 is that LG makes it. Had and Optimus G and Nexus 4, wasn't that impressed.

Software, size, stupid buttons, and glossy back.

This. I dropped my OG once in an otter box and now its useless. They seem nice at first but they're build quality is really cheap and the features are useless... I rooted and put on cm 10.2 as soon as I got it

If anyone has made this specific switch, I'd be grateful to hear your opinions!
Also, should I wait until March and see what comes out and then make the switch? (my next upgrade would be December 2014) or just switch now? Keep in mind I'd have this till next December!
HTC flagship 2013 vs Motorola flagship 2013.
They're in the same league. It's not really of an upgrade.
What makes Moto X different than any other flagship phones is the Active Display and Touchless Controls.
Those features makes it stand out from the rest of the phablets.
If you MUST have Active Display and Touchless controls, then sell One and get Moto X.

Literally just made the switch and I'm loving it. I'm on Verizon so this is the closest I can get to a pure Google device.

Biggest intial pros and cons?
I just did that switch on Verizon. I like the size and feel of the x better and of course all the touchless and active display stuff is great. Only thing I like about the one is the boom sound and aluminum chassis.
Physically, this x feels similar to my old gnex, which is a good thing.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
I made the switch from the One to the Moto X (kinda got a weird call from HTC asking me why I switched) and I wouldn't look back. Actually used my one for a few days last week and I went right back to the Moto X

pros of htc one:
better processor
better screen
ir blastor
speakers
audio quality
pros of moto x:
smaller phone
active notification
touchless control
Do it. My HTC One will be on Swappa in a few hours.
I did this. Got rid of my One thinking that I'd move to T mobile from Verizon, but I love being on the Moto X.
Sent from my XT1060 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
HTC One may have a better processor per say, but the Moto X hands down is much smoother and faster then HTC One. Speaker sound is equivalent on both. Battery life seemed a little better on the One, that would be my only gripe.

Same here.
Cons are the speakers. You just can't beat the One's audio quality.
Haven't noticed any speed differences. If I do a benchmark test, it's obvious, but moving around the UI and opening apps is the same.
The camera is so-so. In KitKat, you can move around the focus reticle which is pretty sweet as you aren't tapping around trying to get the right lighting. I'm leaning towards the One as having the better camera, but it's a slight lean.
I've always preferred stock android and the Moto X is the closest I'll get to it on Verizon.
Also, of important note, the Moto X supports Band 4 (AWS). I live in NY and in the city (Manhattan), Verizon's LTE is pretty awful. Once Band 4 is activated, this will definitely help. The One does not supports AWS.
How does the screen compare? Does the AMOLED help battery life paired with the lower resolution?

I sold my T-Mobile HTC one on swappa for $365 and bought the republic wireless moto x for $299.
I love the amoled and active display very much. Sound is still comparable. Tho I wish more phones would have front facing speakers!
Camera is worse but who honestly takes professional quality pics on a phone cam anyway.
I only really want data when im at work or home and have WiFi there anyway. So the $10 cell/text plan will save me oodles!

Better processor != Smoother experience.
And they both have the same GPU.
I have and love the Moto X, but honestly switching from the HTC One would be quite the downgrade. If you love AOSP then you can flash GPe, cant you? I would've gotten an HTC One in a heartbeat if the cyber monday deal had been for it instead of Moto X.

Flashing the GPe on a vzw HTC one - been there done that. There are things that don't work. Sick of going to Roms where almost everything works. I just want everything to work.

Rule #1 in technology: there's always something better coming, buy what's available now.

I switched. One is a nice phone but Moto x is better, imo.

Same here. Done the GPe, CM, ARHD, PA, none of them are perfect. A lot are close. But none work 100%.

Yes I know this has been posted elsewhere but its in the forums for other phones. See here:

Hope I didn't buy a phone that's orphaned almost as soon as I bought it...like my previous phone, the Droid 3.
I feel that may be out future. Rethinking buying moto dev phone now
Maxx'd out Kit Kat
Very disappointed that Google sold moto.. The maxx is definitely the best phone I've owned.
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Sad news. I have to agree this maxx is easily the best I have ever owned. Since my og droid I had been dreaming of returning to moto and just when the time was right , poof.

Maybe Lenovo will slip up and a bootloader unlock will become available. Who knows?

Don't you think the sale is the reason that this phone is locked down so tightly? Seems like it would make the device more valuable to Lenovo.
I could be way off... or not.

Its more likely that verizon requested the lock-down. Their cool like that.
EDIT: article i ran across says Moto has 2015 line already designed, lenovo deal will not change things for a while
http://www.gforgames.com/gadgets/motorola-2015-lineup-next-moto-x-lenovo-40215/
If this worked for Google Pixel, can it be adapted for our phones? https://goo.gl/NpsMN9
Despite the Verizon Google Pixel and Pixel XL not featuring unlockable bootloaders, a team of developers have released a Pixel bootloader unlock tool called dePixel8.

No. Unlocking HTC (they made the Pixel) and Motorola are completely different.

Darn. Thought maybe since both are VZW could make it possible for us.

Do anyone know the update schedule for Android One Phones? I don't think it will be as efficient and speedy like Pixel Phones? But curious to know what Google has planned for Android One phones?
