The stock screen protector is rubbing off so I replaced it with a new one.

Unlike the stock one, this one is the hard glass. (the stock one is a film).
The problem with this screen protector is that it is a grease/finger print magnet. Ususally I can remove the grease/finger print from the screen by rubbing it on my shirt. With this one, it just moves the finger print grease around. No my shirt is not greasy because I tried it on another phone and it didn't smear the grease around. The only way to get a clean screen is if I use a micro fiber clothe with some water. Also I noticed that my screen is not as bright as before with the new screen protector, especially when using it outdoors.
I was thinking about remove the screen protector all together. Since our phone has Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3, it "should" be fine. But before I remove the new screen protector, just wondering if anyone is going bare on the screen and if they have any issues with scratched screen.
Thanks
I haven't had any screen protector on my phone since october. Screen is fine, although I haven't dropped my phone.
I have been using the same screen protector which i bought from aliexpress and i can feel the brightness problem but i am fine with it since this tmp glass removes entirely the ugly black borders from the phone.
I dont know if there is a good color tempered glass which does both.
Just removed the aftermarket screen protector today and going bare. So far it seems fine and resistant to scratches as well. It feels a lot better than the stock screen protector or the aftermarket one. It is a lot brighter and really smooth. Another thing that I noticed is that it is a lot more sensitive to the touch.
Never used any sort of screen protector on my phones. Never a single scratch.
As long as you do not put any other items in a pocket with a phone, it should be fine.
I have tried 3-4 different screen protectors and none of them seem to stick properly. They never want to stick on either (or both) the left and right sides of the screen. idk what the issue is but I've never had that problem on other phones
I'm too afraid to not use any screen protector. The camera lens scratches so easily that I don't trust the glass at all.

I Have the same problem. While the screen protector is ok and protects the phone, it catches fingerprints and the most anoying thing, outside it reflects everything and I can't see very well. I didn't find any matte or anti-glare tempered glass screen for le pro 3. Only iphone and something else. If anyone finds something good post a link please.

It has been a week now since I removed all screen protector and I am happy that I did it. It feels so much better and I can say that the gorilla glass on this is legit. I work in a warehouse and I have my keys and a box cutter in my pockets. I try to keep them away from my phone but when you are moving fast, sometimes the box cutter ends up in the same packet as my phone. So far still no scratch on the screen.
I'm still keeping mine, even if reflects everything because on my old phone covered with full cover, front and back, dropped on a corner of the screen, the screen protector took the fall and broke instead of the actual screen. So better to be cautios.
Mine came with a screen protector (X727), but I ripped it off very quickly. I haven't broken a single smartphone yet.
No screen protector since day one. No case either. Dropped it few times and cosmetic glass around camera cracked. Front screen is pristine, which is surprising since I am not careful with it.

Found these cases on Amazon that provide screen protection. I have used similar cases on other devices and have had good luck in preserving the screen without the use of a screen protector:
kw mobile canvas case
kw mobile cover shell case
Never used any screen protector on my smartphones, since my first Sony Ericson P800 years before the first iPhone were released...
Never broke the screen, had a few small scratches on some of them (not all though), and I usually keep my devices for 3 to 4 years. My previous phone was a Samsung Note 2, the screen is still perfect.
I will not put any screen protector on my Le Pro 3 either...
I was using the stock screen protector which was preinstalled until today. Sand scratched it so I removed it.

Is anyone having issues with corners of your tempered glass protectors not adhering properly? I'm getting white ghosting all around the protector. Replacement ones had the same effect...

Same problem for me.I think its because of the curve of the screen
I got the full coverage one from aliex, no problems with adhesion, but it's an awfull magnet for smudges and fingerprints, and dulls the colors of the screen, gonna run it a few days just for kicks, but I'll remove it for sure.
And oh, havent had a screen protector, not since day one, and no problems, not a scratch on my phone (I do take care of my gadgets though)

mine doesn't even cover the screen fully...baffled by this, honestly.
I removed screen protector today. Got sick of dust and other sht all around due to corners of glass not adhering properly. The phone looks much better, so far so good.
Just in case try to avoid keeping it with keys etc. Also check this .

I have had screen protectors on every phone I have ever owned and fully intended to get one for my HD2. However, I have had it for two weeks now and the screen is just as fresh as when I got it, as is the rest of the device. And I don't treat it with kid gloves like some do.
Thanks to the toughened glass I genuinely believe this is the first large touchscreen phone that doesn't require protection for the screen so all credit to HTC. I doubt I will bother with one now.

I also do not have a protector on it and it stills looks crisp without any scratches. Another advantage of this screen, although it's a fingerprint magnet, is that it is very easy to clean, especially compared to resistive screens with or without protector.
Not needed in my opinion after 2 weeks of abuse not a single scratch xD
No protector here, I reckon a screen protector would just ruin the silky smooth feeling you get when using your fingers.
That being said a screen protecter will proabably stop your screen being chipped if it acciendently skips across a concrete pavement
ive got a protector on mine, i really can't notice it on, screen still looks hot !!
After a number of reviews, I suppose this device doesn't require additional protection. Try this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcEaehKWr2s
Got a brando screenprotector on it... mainly a force of habit I guess. Just want to make sure nothing happens with the screen hehe.
Haven't noticed any difference in response btw so for now I'll just leave it on. Perhaps in the future I'll take it off again but for now I'm just extra careful.
Apologies for what could be a stupid question but I purchased this device and the SPP300 screen protector as they were in a bundle. Is it true that screen protectors cannot be taken off after installed? I read somewhere that their glue is so sticky that they can't be taken off.
Thank you.
I have a Brando Ultraclear on mine too.
Had some trouble applying it so it doesn't look that shining as it should
I also have a cheaper unbranded version which i will try if i'm sure that no screenprotector is needed.
Removing the Brando will probably make it unusable and i'm not sure if the unbranded version will be any better.
Anyway I haven't notice any change of touch sensivity yet.
Why put a screen protector on??? You may as well have a resistive plastic screen. It's glass chaps, unless you scrape grit and stones over it you will be fine.
I got a pack of 6 screen protectors from eBay in time for the arrival of my handset, used the phone for a couple of days then added the protector and have found no difference in performance. I have the peace of mind that at least there is a little extra protection for the screen, whether it needs it or not.
Why not shell out a couple of extra quid to help protect such an expensive device? It can't hurt....
Used for a week without a protector. Put one on a week ago (just for my own peace of mind) and havent notice any issues in use. Don't notice the protector, screen is still good and sensitive, and display looks just as brilliant.
Would admit that it is a b****er to put on though - and keep the bubbles out.
I bought a screen protector with my HD2 and put it on pretty much straight away and think it is perfectly usable with it on. Plus it's a peace of mind thing too.
Cheers......Mad Jock
I had trouble using the original P300 protector and had to remove it immediately. This started interfering with the proximity sensor on the left side of the ear piece. Although the screen protector has two holes that allign exactly over the proximity sensor yet the screen would not turn on when taken away from the ear.
Before I put it on the proximity sensor was okay and after I removed it was again okay so I blame the protector for not allowing the sensor to work when it was on.

glad someone isn't behaving automatically due to lack of information about their device. the HD2 has a TEMPERED GLASS capacitive screen. you will not scratch it unless you take tools to it!

Tempered glass? Good to know.
I put a Brando Anti-Glare screen protector on mine and it works fine. It doesn't block the proximity or light sensor, and is fairly easy to put on. Sensitivity is unchanged as far as I can tell.
Main reason I specifically chose the Brando Anti-Glare screen protector is because it has a textured surface that resists fingerprints waayyy better than the tempered glass surface of the HD2.
Image quality suffers slightly but at least it's smudge-free now

I've scratched the HD2 glass while extracting from my pants' pocket.
I got a tiny little nick on mine within the first couple of days. No idea how - I was being so careful with it too as its the first time I haven't put a protector on straight after unboxing. Its pretty small and doesn't show with the backlight on but a real pain all the same. Bought a Brando protector at the weekend and still trying to decide whether to apply it or not.
I have a screen protector currently, but I'm thinking of taking it off.
What do you guys think? Are you folks using a screen protector?
I don't use screen protector because I want the best touch experience
I never used one on my DHD and I don't use one on my Note either.
I sure use one.
Recently I had a clean slice on my screen and I was worried that the cut might be deep enough to have gone through the screen protector and scratched my screen. So I took the protector off and thankfully the screen protector was enough to stop the scratch.
So it has it uses.
Putting a screen protector is a nightmare though because of dust particles, so whenever I want to put a screen protector on I view the screen under light at an angle to see if there is any dust particles on the screen. That way I can see even the "smallest" dust particle. So whenever I place a screen protector I take about 30 to 40 mins to put one on my Note. Also it's not like I change screen protector like a baby's dippers. The current one will be on there pretty much forever unless something like a scratch happens that will force me replace it. Otherwise it's pretty much a one time thing.
My screen protectors are very good quality ones.

I am using SGP Ultra Optics, touch is fine, just finger prints are still there.
I've had my Note for over six months without a screen protector, just a gel case, and not a mark on it. Whenever it's in a pocket it never shares space with anything else that might harm it such as coins or keys.
I didn't protect my ZTE Blade before it, my MDA Vario before that, or any other phone I've owned. I don't put protectors on the display of any of my several cameras, and none of those have suffered as a result either. The only device I've ever applied a screen protector to was my Palm Tungsten T3, and with the flip cover for that, that was probably the most unnecessary application of a protector to any device I've ever owned.
Never.
Hate them.
brought my first screen protector the other day, put it on and that night i was going for a run and my note fell out of my pocket and went across the road for 5 meters, screen protector saved my phone.
I used to but I don't anymore. My note fell any the screen broke so I had to get a new one. Now I don't use a screen protector but I use seidio gel protector. I like it better like this.
Zag is the best.

Bought 2x sgp ultra. Tried in vain to fit them on the phone but found it impossible to do so without getting dust trapped.
So I threw them both away, and looking back, I'm glad I did.

So you are saying you never have dust or sand particles in your pockets as those bastards are the ones scratching the screens. Keys or coins won't do it as they're softer than your phone's screen.
E: I am using a cheapo screen protector (7,99€ for two) and it does not affect the user experience at all.
I dropped my note face down on the concrete twice from my jacket pocket. No scratch. I'm not using a screen protector.

I just took off my screen protector and now it feels really good.. Galaxy note's screen is one of its USP's and it needs to be felt raw not with a layer on it.
I know that the Note has a Gorilla Glass but I still use a screen protector on mine. It's probably just paranoia but hey, better be safe than sorry since at the end of the day, I did spend quite a bit on the phone

I have two small children and because of that I spend some time in sand boxes. That sand is the worst when comes to making tiny scratches. I bought a copter shield a couple of weeks after getting the note due to scratches starting to emerge. I also made a deeper scratch with the help of a zipper, (which is embarresing since im closely related to the inventor of the zipper ).
I do have the feeling that the "Note" is a bit more sensitive than other gorilla glass endowed phones. Maybe it has a coating that scratches more easily or something...
I bought s7 edge new...a few days ago...
I bought him a Screen Protector puregear, simple a bad screen protector.
And I can not find a good screen protector, In the meantime, I'm not using my s7 edge, because it.
I anyway not love screen protector, so I thought maybe... I will use my s7 edge without a screen protector
Would be very happy to hear your opinions, worthwhile or not ?
If you can elaborate This will help me, thus I will learn more.
Thanks!!!
I'm using it without one too, but I use the leather cover from Samsung(not the flip cover). Just as drop protection and because the phone is very slippery without one
I've spent more than 50$ on screen protectors still haven't find anything that last longer than a week. Somes peeled off, somes have touch issues so i decided to just use my phone naked. The phone hold up surprisingly well for the past 2 months, not any scratches even when i did drop it twice and there were some dents on the benzel.
---------- Post added at 06:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:25 PM ----------
My advice is u should definitely buy a case since the phone is pretty slippery and the benzels are so thin that u might find ur fingers resting on the screen causing touch issues.
Screen protectors are all personal preferences. From what i know, it limit the beauty of the screen, harder to see in direct sunlight, and u cant use it underwater.
Why not using it with a flip cover (but w/o screen protector)?
Best of both worlds, you can show the phone off yet it is protected all-round.

I have both. The leather one is sheer class (and better protection), the slim line one is form fitting with less protection (but still a helluvamore than not using anything).
Both make the phone look superb.
I have my s7e from since it came out, i found that my diamond bling scratches the screen when i put it on my ear so bought a screen protector but lasted 4 hours, im not fund of screen protectors i like my screen naked. Have hundreds of scratches now.
who needs a screen protector? I've never used one since like 4 years and all my phones are exposed at least to dog bites (I'm a vet and the phone is always a curious thing for them), and never broke anyone
With the s7 edge I'm using it for three months and never used one, both crystals are like new, but I'm using a spigen case because samsung's sucks
I don't use a screen protector or any protection at all, and my device (which I bought in March, shortly after its release) looks just fine. No scratches on the body, and I only have a teenie tiny scratch on the screen, which isn't bothering me. If you're the type of person who throws his stuff around, then I'd get some protection. If you're like me and you love using your devices naked, then go ahead and do that. Just DO NOT keep your phone in the same pocket with your keys etc. That will 100% scratch up your phone. Keep it generally far away from metal parts, including metallic zippers on jackets/hoodies/jeans!
I've had mine since before the official release (Tmo FTW) and I've never had a screen protector on it. I do use a Spigen black TPU case, but my screen has 0 noticeable scratches on it. You can find one or two if the screen is off and you're looking for them, but if the screen is on, you couldn't see them if you tried.
i havent had a screen protector since day one and have to scratches on mine. still looks brand new
I got a WriteRight flex screen protector (film style) from Staples in Ontario, Canada. Came with 2. First one is still on and doing well to stop simple scratches from car keys and such. It seems like there are no good options for glass protectors due to the edge. I usually would always use a glass protector + skin on body. This time i have a case that is banana-shaped to protector the screen if it falls face down and the film protector for minor scratch protection. Decent combo.
I tried multiple screen protectors and all of them were actual garbage because of the edge screen. I've been using mine without a screen protector for the last few months. It's just not worth it to me to Cripple the device and stop the enjoyment of using it because of a bad screen protector or because I'm worried about a small scratch. I've had good luck I've got a slight scratch that cannot be seen unless you're really looking for it hard after 2 months. Biggest thing is keep your keys and pens out of your pocket that your phone is in
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
No screen protector here. No problems ;]
Just like @ flyinj54 said, I keep my phone in my left pocket by itself. Keys and whatever else I put in my right pocket. As long as you do that and don't drop your phone you'll be good.
I tried going protector-less for a while and discovered a small scratch from somewhere. I'm very careful with my phone and hate scratches. After trying a vinyl skinomi wet install which kept on denting/imprinting, a few cheap glass ones, i've settled on the spigen plastic protector, which has been working great!
I too have spend nearly £50 on screen protectors, haven't found a good one yet, and so I now use my S7E without screen protector.
I have spend some fair amount of money on case though, I have a Noreve case, and a Piel Frama's SlimFrama case.

I did that for a while with only the Samsung Flip Wallet cover. It was fine. found Skinomi matteskin screen protector that wraps around the edges, I love it! it reduces glare and also keeps grease and fingerprints off the screen. It has almost a rubbery vinyl feel to it.

Yes i can confirm this. Even at screen off the scratches are barely visible, you can notice only if you look close to the screen. For me it really makes difference, i mean the screen is much clearer without protector because most protectors tend to absorb dirt being plastic(with all of my devices i used before never had protectors), much crispier and brighter. I dont know its just my opinion.
It's really quite simple. Unless you want hairline scratches (or worse) within a couple of weeks you use a screen protector. No matter how careful you are, this is unavoidable simply from everyday use.
Personally, I use a Zagg HD Dry. I've had the same protector on my phone since the middle of March and it still looks virtually new (bar a few inevitable marks). And with my Spigen crystal cover, it's never curled up at the edges like a lot of people have complained about.
Bottom line for me (although I accept opinions vary), buying a phone worth over £600 then not protecting it with a cover and screen protector is madness.
DISCLAIMER: TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Supplies: Fresh screen film, a thin, soft cotton cloth, and adjustable temp iron, spay bottle, and preferably a infrared thermometer.
Video: http://sendvid.com/ez03e7q7
If you're anything like myself, then you've discovered a long time ago, that although unsightly, screen protectors do exactly what they are supposed to do.
Enter Google Pixel: A beautiful screen that's just begging for protection so that it may remain as such for years to come... But there's a major problem. The screen is curved!
After failures from tempered glass and a few different brands of film protectors, I ordered the iCarez film protectors. The technique they recommend works really well. Nailed it on the first try, no bubbles or fuzzies!
After a few minutes, I noticed the right side peeling up. Pressed and rubbed and did everything I could would not stick. Tried again with a fresh film. Same thing, although this is the closest I've gotten to perfection so far.
Here's where the disclaimer comes in.
I grab the iron and set it to "synthetic". I let it heat up for a minute and check the temperature with my infrared thermometer. It's at about *220 f. I place the phone on the cloth and fold cloth over screen. Just one layer. Lightly spray the cloth with water so it's just a little damp. Then I grab the iron and with slow, firm movements, press the edge of the screen where the bubbles are, making sure to not leave it in one place for too long.
I pull back the towel and wipe away the moisture on the screen to reveal it's working! I have 90% of the halo gone!
The last bit just wouldn't go down. So I turned the iron up to about *270 f and repeated the same motion. Boom! Flat, no bubbles or halo.
If you try this, please be careful. I'm sure exposure to high temperatures is only OK for very short periods of time.
**I will reiterate that this should be done at your own risk.**
DON'T BE A DUMMY. DO NOT PLACE A HOT IRON DIRECTLY ON YOUR PHONE.
Good luck!

I never run a screen protector. Honestly by the time I was ready to switch phones I had one or two tiny scratches on the screen. My wife always runs a screen protector and while I am sure she is just using cheap screen protectors her screen always looks like shiz. Oh the reason I dont use screen protectors is because glass apparently keeps getting better and better so where is the need.
I also don't put things in my pocket with my phone and I tend tp put the glass side in towards my skin.
Just some perspective from a guy that doesn’t use screen protectors or cases. By all means your money is not mine and spend it how you will, this is just some insight.

I see where you're coming from. I treated this phone like a sleeping baby on a land mine for the first few days waiting for a case and screen protector to come in the mail. Even then I still got a few small superficial scratches on the screen and a pretty noticeable one the softer back glass. A properly installed screen protector is barely noticeable and I change it out every few months when it gets scratched up. Small price to pay for the added protection.
It boils down to preference. At any rate, if you do like them, it's hard to install one on this phone. This is a way to get it to fit better. It's been a few days now and it's holding strong. I'm pleased.
I've noticed after my screen protectors get crappy and I haven't had them on my phone for a while, my screen never really gets scratched up. Therefore, I don't really use screen protectors anymore.
The only thing that ever scratched my screen was a titanium keychain accessory on my keyring. Regular keys never scratched my screen, but the titanium sure did. Luckily it was on a horrible temp phone I was using until my pixel arrived
I quit using protectors. Don't like the way they feel. And they have come a long way in scratch proof glass
Bought a tempered glass one about 2 weeks after getting the phone. And I got it about a day or 2 after its initial release.
Havent had any issues with it at all. Can't remember the brand, I just know it's a full protector, covers the entire front of the phone.
I bought the Supershieldz tempered glass 2 pack off Amazon as I have had success in the past with their screen protectors. It covers JUST the usable portion of the screen, not the entire front, and it works just fine. Zero bubbles and no "halo".
I've just got the orzly pro protector, covers the entire front as well with perfect cutouts
Easy to install, just hinge it and flap it on lol

I clean the phone put it in my pocket and bamn just like that full of pocket dust. Maybe I need to clean my pockets better. Never noticed this with the note 8.
Same for me
Not sure if it is the stock screen protector generating static or other factor.
I think it's the screen protector to be honest.
It's the plastic screen protector
Moving to glass will reduce it?

It's the screen protector for sure. I ripped it off and everything is fine now. No dust at all.
Had an unfortunate incident that put a crack in the stock protector. I got the Skinomi plastic screen protector and there is no longer a dust/ haze problem on the screen. It's 7.85 on Amazon and they give you two. Might be worth it.
Screen protector is the reason. I moved from Note 9 and notice the same thing. Never had a screen protector on mine.
Doesn't bother me though.

Fixes the dust and the haze. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H8P7HT5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I now have the same problem on my new Pixel 7 Pro I bought like a month ago. It's screen is dusty whenever I get it out of the pocket no matter what pants.
Searched everywhere and can't find anything useful. My first guess is some kind of static electricity. I've tried:
• anti-static screen cleaner
• letting the battery die and keep it uncharged for like half a day.
• a bunch of different jeans/pants
• even tried vaccum cleaning my pockets and trying to pick up anything that's impossible to see with human eye by a lint roller and duct tape.
Putting on a screen protector film or tempered glass would be my last resort.
After 30 minutes in pocket it looks like this. It's really embarrassing when I have to get it out in front of other people. Also attaching a photo of my pocket so you don't think they are messy or smth.
