Samsung has started releasing official nougat to tab s2 and most of you have already flashed the images. Some have nougat on their for device for almost a week. I would really like to know their view points on this update. Like battery life, wifi/bluetooth connectivity, stability, features etc.
Share your likes and dislikes coming from marshmallow build, or anything you would like to share . :good:
I flashed Stock Nougat on my SM-T810.
I can be wrong - still testing - but I have the impression that wifi connection is not that stable as it was when I used Lollipop Stock (I've never used marshmallow).
I'm experiencing wifi drops from time to time.
edit:
actually, there is no problem with wifi. After some testing, I found out that it's the 'optimize battery usage' that was restricting some functionality of my syncing app. After I disabled it, it's all working very well now.
Guys please help. When I flash the nougat from odin on my device (t815) stuck in the last step. In odin says something for "radio" and then it says error. Can someone help me? I can install easy the Mm via odin but I cant in nougat
Im not root
same error
Use Odin v3.12 for nougat updates
Yeah same error with odin 3.12
I used newest. Few dayz ago updated friends t715 with same odi without problems. It is something about sequence of partitions, I think I have read something about it time ago. Remember as through fog, as we say here... I am sure someone has solition.

Friend, if yoi have time, download on sammobile also 6.01 for UAE and try. I not have time. I afraid you will be unable to flash even uae 601. If success, try ota or odin uae 7.0
The battery seems to drain a lot faster than on 6.0.1, I disabled location and debloated A LOT but it still seems to lose 5% per hour overnight with a lot of wakelocks and Android-System and Kernel seem to use a lot of battery.
Battety stats are a bit hidden in the settings so I use GSam Battery Monitor.
After some tests it looks like the WI-FI is waking the device.. When I'm not connected to WI-FI I lose almost no battery. Maybe it has something to do with the 5Ghz channel? Still trying to figure this out.
Playstore also seems to lag the device while updating apps, this I didnt experience on MM.
Automatic brightness changes too drastic, and sometimes it deels like the screen is not bright enough
I didnt test Bluetooth and location yet.
Other than that everything 's fine and I like the new nougat features.

No I didn't. But I flashed the update manually so it was a clean install. Then I rooted, restored my apps using TiBu, debloated and wiped dalvik and cache.

So i think is something wrong with the modem.bin file idk.

Maybe you can try to download and flash XSG (emirates 6.0.1 rom), and try ota or odin over it...

Ok I will try anything today and If I find something I will reply
Thanks to @ksr007 I was able to flash T815 nougat fimware to my T815Y(system & kernel to be exact). And just so you know doing this specifically will trigger knox. Anyways so far the nougat look really neat. Battery backup so far seems to me same as that on marshmallow. Wifi 5g and bluetooth are working well. I would like to tell you while I was optimizing my settings and all I found that my settings app became laggy. I was surprised that this happened to me, since I had just kinda installed official firmware in a way, what I found out later that I had disabled "print spooler" app in setting and enabling it fixed it. I can still reproduce this issue any time . Maybe its a bug or its just me idk. But overall the os is smooth as mm for me. Setting app and many more which earlier didn't had split/pop-up mode supports them now, thanks to nougat. I'll see how this performs before I root/modify it.

Hey I find the solution
First on your pc extract any file from the nougat filmware with 7-zip
Then follow this guide to convert files from img to md5-tar
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446269
And just flash any file one by one via Odin..
Just don't install the hidden.img file. (Idk why this file needed) I hope someone from here tell us
Post please screeshot what exactly you flashed and get success
This is similar to my suggestion. But, you extract 1 bih file and divide it in 4 and flash all of them, except hidden. Img? This is probably same as my suggestion. Thanks anyway

I can't post screenshot atm but like I said before
In Odin flash any file expert hidden.img and if you want to keep twrp or cwm don't flash recovery.img too.

Ok step by step
Download the nougat from the link above
From Windows extract the files (extract nougat file) with 7zip program
Then follow this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=2446269 you need to convert files from img to md5-tar. It's really easy if you follow this guide.
Now via Odin flash on your tablet these files one by one like any time except hidden.img and you are done.

I've been chatting with Samsung Support through Twitter about Kies not taking my serial # for my Note 4. They asked for my serial # and my imei #, so I gave it to them and they asked what version i was on and told them BOK3, they wrote back saying there is a newer version, so I asked which one is it. So here is a screenshot.

Update: if your battery takes a dump with the OTA, it is recommend that you do a repair via the Verizon assistant or via Kies. But if you are on a safe upgrade version then this will take you out of safe upgrade and keep you on BOG5 incremented bootloader.
Maybe a new Samsung version, but maybe not a Verizon version?

Here are the screenshots.
They responded back that it is 5.1.1 with security patches
So Samsung says there is another version they have out. But has Verizon released it yet? The manufacturer releases versions to the carriers who then release it to the phone owners after they do their "branding". Case in point, Samsung released 6.0.1 for the Note 4, but we don't have it yet. So

It's up and running now. The wifi notification is gone which is great.
Got it here as well. Glad the wifi notification is gone.... now to see if it still references AT&T in the Wifi Settings. LOL
My bad, I got it too.

Hopefully it fixes my battery life problem, after the 5.1.1 update my battery life is TERRIBLE. It is the worse it has ever been and that's with trying to different factory OEM batteries.......The Note 4 really was a disappointment for a phone with such awesome hardware...
If anybody able to pull OTA and link it, I would put in the OP, I have it downloaded, but not installed. If anybody can guide me to pull it, I would appreciate it
Interesting

Yes, so glad the wifi notification is gone!

Hi,i was wondering how you go about installing 5.1.1 zip. Well my question is ,are you using a retailer edition and what recovery you went into flash?,is it stock recovery if you're using RE?,am just little confuse about it.Thank you in advance.

Its quite simple indeed just download the zip file from the forum 5.1.1 then save it in ur sd card, press up volume, power and home button at the same time to access stock recovery, navigate to option where is says update from a file, there you go it will update to 5.1.1, batter been slightly different (not a big improvement) im indeed a very very heavy user.... i received emails all day from my job, need to check whatsapp several times, there is some annoyances however... like wifi notification that is connected never go away... the wireless and fast charging notification remain in 5.0.1 now in 5.1.1 just says it once time and disappear, album cover full screen its completly gone.... performance in task screen and some apps display faster and also navigate throught touchwiz its a little bit better... not a BIG BIG difference... they put connect to at&t network (even thou its verizon), everything its fixed in BPA1 update so if you want to give a shot go ahead... i mean its not a big big diference but if you are bored of being in 4.4.4 or 5.0.1 go ahead! good luck
This may need to go devs but notice every time you boot into recovery on this update it says "installing update". Not sure exactly what that means cause I am no dev but it seems like the the recovery is more locked down on this update.
I also did factory reset after update. So not sure why it would do that every time booting into recovery.
for last week battery been dropping fairly quickly to about 40%, then stopping abruptly. Got the update last night. After almost 12 hours on battery, it is still at 88%.
My battery wasn't doing very well until I disabled fast charging and charged regularly. But have always noticed that even on kitkat

- If you have greenify, config it to never Auto hibernation
- On smart Manager, config for never optimize Whatsapp

Lollipop has got 2 Bugs.
1. After Deep Sleep Wlan most of the times don't turning on and connecting to router. I have to disable and enable wlan again or turning screen off and on again.
2. Reading mode is gone???

1. I don't know why this happen to you, I only can assume you didn't update to lollipop the right way, Try again removing your battery for a minute before power on directly to download mode and pick "Bootloader update" option on Odin, maybe your modem isn't the last version. If isn't the last version, there's the reason for it.
2. Yes, it's true, Samsung forgot it on lollipop on I9506. Other variants, like i9505 and i9500 still has it on lollipop.
3. After upgrading to lollipop, you must let system stabilizes for a day, at least. Technically, I don't know why, but this is true. Kit Kat may be faster sometimes, but in general way it isn't. When I was with Deodexed DeHawk's version, I got 47k on Antutu, try achieving it on KitKat, You won't! Lollipop after stabilizing is smoother than KitKat.
If you want, go back to Kitkat, afterall it's your phone and you know what is best for you. I wouldn't do it.
After being a lot of time on stock lollipop I flashed AryaMod 8.3... and it's amazing compared to stock lollipop, has a lot of features and Mods included... even Reading Mode is there.
And imagine the performance, smooth, etc... see screenshot with Antutu's score... See Screen on time.
Sorry but my phone is in Portuguese language, but you'll understand.
Decide for yourself, the last call is yours. I'm only trying to show you the best choice, in my honest opinion of course.
BTW: AryaMod has a bug, google account settings crashes if you try to enter it directly by settings Menu, but you can enter it ands change or remove a google account from Gallery.

i flashed to phones of I9506 roundabout 30 Times. I know how to do. But every Lollipop has the same Wlan Bug. I'm not talking about wlan is broken. It's working. But after a deep sleep it won't connect to the router again. Tried different firmwares.
With lollipop Stock debloated i've got 56000 Scores in Antutu. Don't know how much it could be in Kit Kat???
Maybe I'll try AryMod. But I have tested Cyanogen, and some other ports. At the end there is still a bug...

In Kitkat I scored about 42k, 44k.
The problem about WIFI, I never had it. BTW I have installed DOJ3 modem version. I really don't understand why you have that bug and I neve had it or never noticed.
For example, when I have the phone in my pocket, even after a couple of hours in deep sleep, the phone is always get Wifi. When I'm traveling by car it is always ringing because he connects automatically to FON Routers, and everytime it connects it gives a notification . (FON is a shared wifi network, in Portugal there's a lot of routers providing that network)
I never tried CM because I need, and I'm used to, TouchWiz features.

Yes, works good. and about battery drain, I don't notice a big consumption. The big problem about battery drain is... GAMING
When I don't want to catch WIFI network, I switch off. It works good.
The next days after installing AryaMod, I noticed that everytime I unlock the phone a tiny message appears saying "Connected to xxxx wifi network"... AryaMod comes with WIFI suspend set to always ...so I changed it to never, as I like.
If you want to flash AryaMod, follow the guide in OP
full wipe, clear Data, dalvik, system, cache
flash with TWRP (try with 2.8.7 version, because 3.0.2 has a bug, it shows the installation options in front of recovery scripts... maybe 2.8.7 hasn't that bug, I installed with 3.0.2 and it's hard to understand the options you are choosing) (when you see kernel choosing, choose custom kernel and Untick any reboot option)
Don't reboot, flash FireWork_Kernel-0.4.0-DARKLORD_S6_v3
Don't reboot again flash GT-I9506XXUDOJ2_NON-OC_v320_DeHAWK_Kernel.CWM-TWRP or GT-I9506XXUDOJ2_OC_v40x_DeHAWK_Kernel.CWM-TWRP (choose if you want Overclock or not) Don't try newer version, @same-xx is the expert in this scope and he says newer version could damage the phone.
Don't reboot again and flash Sensor-fix (or try without sensor-fix as I did... because I forgot and noticed that every sensor wasn't working looool)
And it's done... it's working, set everything again... and after it is working for a few hours it will be smother as butter.
And thank to Same-xx because he passed me some of his experience with this Rom.

thank you very much. It has worked . the rom looks great for the first moment.
It seems a new update is about to roll out. The build is BG1.
Maybe just a security patch containing update, but the thing is, the odin TAR is available already.

Have fun!
Was available for the s7, but not the edge for me.
When I click download I just get a blank folder with them name of the firmware. How can I get the actual firmware or am I doing something wrong?

I rooted using a custom script someone made in the att thread. It fixed the cpu frequencie issues and adjusted each governor of the small and big clusters. So far so good with only minot hiccups once in a while. I haven't noticed much of a difference with the pg1 firmware if any. If you need help rooting check out the att forum or i can help when i get back home.
if we are already rooted on PD8, can we just flash this ontop of PD8 and retain root? What about user data?
I got this update on 2 S7's and on both of them, I now have cellular data issues. Wifi calling will keep giving me a notice that my phone is going to use wifi for calls when the feature is set to prefer Cellular for calls. Rebooting doesn't help, it will eventually say it again. I have to keep turning off wifi to force the message away. And during browsing on cellular, it drops a lot even though I know I have great coverage where I use it. With 2 phones, and only have this update, I think something is wrong with this firmware.

I haven't had any issues, everything works fine. Here go down till you find generic galaxy s7 after root process and flash the zip he made via Flashfire. See if that helps. Did you factory reset after rooting btw?
I am not rooted. I just saw this Firmware thread and figured this was a good place to talk about my issue related to this firmware. I will update my previous post to show no rooting. All stock.

Oh, sorry, then I'm not sure what could be the issue, you could try clearing cache in recovery.

Bit of an emergency and I'm on an old phone I can't find charger for but I need the .tar file for the firmware before this last update. I kept refusing the update and today I went to root finally and I'm stuck in boot loop with the engboot

A factory reset should fix it, this happened to me as well.
Can someone please post link to download latest update for S7 AT&T(SM-G930A Baseband Version: G930AUCS4API2
I don't have a link, and I wish I didn't have the update. My phone has been lagging and draining battery ever since the update.

Is it draining really hard? Because apparently the new oculus update (that autoupdates) is wrecking battery life on Galaxy S7 phones.
With a non-fast charger i was losing battery life. It drained >50% in 90 minutes. In a 20 minute span the battery went from 35% to force shutdown while I was listening to a podcast with the screen off and power saving mode turned on. Called AT&T. They said Samsung was looking into a possible trend but she couldn't see it on my phone. Might be the battery but when she took over my screen her diagnostics indicated an app (couldn't tell which one) was causing a rapid drain immediately after power up. She said I needed to get the latest update re-flashed at Best Buy. If that doesn't fix my issue they will approve a warranty replacement. So within the next 48 hours I need to figure out whether this is a software issue because I may not need to send my phone back. She said re-flashing is a quick process that applies the OTA again without erasing my settings or pictures.
---------- Post added at 04:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:57 AM ----------
Forgot to mention... rep said Samsung was specifically wanting some metrics on IMS Service (Apps -> Application Manager -> Show System Apps -> IMS Service). Mine says "Battery: 3% used since last fully charged"; My battery is at 85% at the moment so I'm not sure how to read that.
Package disabler pro fixed all my problems. I uninstalled Oculus and disabled all bloatware via the quick button. Has been at the same 92% for several minutes. Yay!! Thanks for the pointer Longcat14! And sorry sandeep.manugunta I didn't mean to take over your post with this issue, hopefully someone can get you a link ASAP.
I have nothing saying Oculus on mine...
@percussionking, No problem man. I am happy you got solution for battery draining issue. Look like few others people also faced the same issue.
@joe3681, I guess you need to disable apps related to GearVR
I always use PDP to disable anything VR anyway
Any luck on finding the updated Firmware?

As of 10/26, Sprint rolled out the latest firmware for G930P (Galaxy S7), G930PVPS4APJ2. I have been searching everywhere since then and it has been 3 days without any luck. Since by mistake I loaded the G930U's API3 with the latest bootloader 4 and I am not able to downgrade to any of the older G930P firmwares. The worst part is that it also destroyed my factory SIM unlock. I want to go back to the G930P firmware and request to have it unlocked again. Someone please help. If this firmware is not yet available for downloading yet, any idea normally how long it takes from the day a firmware is rolled out until it is available on the web for downloading?
Thanks in advance for any help or info.
I'm glad someone posted this. I tried downgrading so I could root my S7 but it failed and now I'm assuming the only way to fix it is to flash stock firmware.

I can't even update to PH7. It downloads fine, but during the install part (blue screen/android dude) it constantly fails at 32%... I hate to have to flash with Odin, and re-setup my phone (apps, homescreen layout, etc.).
Does anyone know of a link to PH7 that has decent download speeds, like a torrent? Sammobile speeds are so slow.

Search for SamFirm. It's an executable you launch on Windows and search for the firmware for your model and region you need and download it. It's the quickest I have seen so far.
This... I also need. Stuck until I get it. Bahhhhhh I don't like the s7 after 4 days. Didn't realize these updates pushed new bootloader version. Trying to build a ROM here... Dafuq?!?!?! -.-"

Do i have to flash these files in a certain order? or all at once? And, do I use the HOME_CSC or the CSC file?
Edit: **** yeah! I flashed the BT, AP, CP, and HOME_CSC all at once in Odin v3.11.1 and it didn't wipe data, just updated my phone to PH7. I am now updating via OTA to PJ2.

You're supposed to flash all at once... Careful going to PJ2 though. bootloader version changes... And they haven't released flashable firmware for PJ2. I found a workaround flashing some U firmware (PI3) with new bootloader 4. Here's the link i went to. And i might add this is a worst case scenario. There's no going back due to the 7's locked bootloader. Of course this is only if you brick your current PJ2 somehow. Which i managed. Developers at work! Anyhow, wish you luck on PJ2, and i'll start development on it (depending on the nougat drop date) once i get a firmware release. Cheers!

The OTA update to PJ2 went fine, no problems. Currently running smooth. My initial issue was I was previously rooted, and decided to go back to stock. When I went back to stock I flashed the PG1 firmware but it wasn't from Sammobile. I downloaded all the firmware files separately from an XDA post that the root post linked too (big mistake). I then didn't flash them all at the same time, and I don't think I flashed the HOME_CSC file, just the CSC one. It went fine and everything but when PH7 dropped everytime I tried to OTA update to PH7 it would fail at 32% every time during the bluescreen/android guy screen. I'm not sure what's being checked at 32% to why it failed there, but my guess was that the files I flashed did something that was invalid and the updating process wouldn't continue becuase of a validation issue, probably from flashing just CSC file and not HOME_CSC file, just a guess.
After I flashed PH7, I was so happy my data wasn't wiped, and was also happy when PJ2 updated just fine. Though I was bummed, I thought PJ2 was the Nougat update...
You're a life-saver dude! And, thanks for the website you gave me to download the firmware, took like 15min to download a 2.5GB file, compared to 5 hours when downloading from Sammobile and other sites. Thanks a bunch!
I had an S2 and S5 for 2 years each before the S7 and damn were those easy to root and flash ROMs/Mods on. Damn locked bootloader! The one thing I think Samsung fcked up on with this phone. I should have waited for the Google Pixel... I'm with Sprint (obv) and re-newing my contract I get a discount off the phone, and having an unlimited data family plan, plus a discount on my bill for where I work made me stay and renew my contract with Sprint.
What exactly are you working on? A way to unlock the bootloader, an easy way to root (the current way is tedious and laggy), or a ROM? I'm interested.

Glad you got squared away... I'm not really working on much. Just going to Mod a Stock ROM again, to start. I'm probably not the guy who will figure out custom recovery on the phone. lol But I'm going to dive into some documentation on the topic, and get acquainted. That's a far reach, though. I just don't see a lot of support or development for this phone series. So I want to put some stuff out there. Maybe even slim down and automate the rooting process. (Think SkipSoft Android Toolkit)
I don't know. Any ideas or requests are always welcomed.

If you're on the latest (PJ2) stay right where your are. There's no going backwards from there with the release on bootloader 4. You need to wait out the PJ2 firmware release.
