Hello all. I bought my Amz G4 from the "Amazon Warehouse" and it was used. My sister got the same phone at the same time. We both use Cricket Wireless, same plan, etc. As soon as the phones came, hers got the MPJ24.139-64 (-64) update, which included a July security patch, while mine remained (and still is stuck) on the MPJ24.139-48 (-48). She just got the Nougat update, NPJ24.139-14 (I think that's what it is, I know it ends with -14) and she messaged me telling me to go check for an update. After a cache partition, factory reset, and removal of SIM and SD card, no luck updating to either the -64 or the new -14 nougat update. Some info you should know:
Mine is used, hers was too
We use Cricket
16GB Amazon Prime edition
Bootloader is locked, no tampering has ever occurred (that I know of)
Software Channel and Variant are both AMZ (Amazon)
The system update says "System is up to date"
The Motorola Update Manager app (Found in apps) is version 8.0.41 (No update available for that)
I did a lot of research, I posted in the Lenovo fourms only to get bashed by a "Moto Expert" because I mentioned flashing. I posted there that if anyone could get the update file (ZIP or XML) I could use that and flash it through the stock recovery. Any help is welcome, I just want the Nougat update.
ORIGINAL POST FROM LENOVO FOURMS:
"Hello all. I am new to the fourms, and I have a bit of a problem here. My G4 Prime Edition was purchased used on the website, and it came in box with build number MPJ24.139-48. My sister has the same phone, same specs, and we both use Cricket for service. She immediatly got the -64 update, while I was (and still am) stuck at the -48. I thought nothing of it, for I googled some stuff and saw that some phones also didn't get it. So yesterday, she [my sister] called me, and told me the Nougat update is out (since I am a HUGE phone person, and I'm always excited for the big updates) She told me to check, and guess what.. nothing. My fastboot says I'm locked (bootloader, that is) and my Software channel/variant is amz. So not only am I stuck with an 11 month old security patch, I also can't get Nougat. I don't know what to do. I've looked EVERYWHERE. Again, the phone is used so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Any suggestions are welcome, and if anybody could somehow get the OTA file and could send it to me that would be great, because I could easily flash it through the stock recovery. Thanks in advance.."
I would give it a while, at least another week. Mine and my wife's came a week apart and I believe the OTA is still rolling out. There's no rhyme or reason on how they push out the updates. I was told by a Moto engineer that the Amazon phones usually get the updates after the retail version.

I have the same problem, except I bought my phone new from Amazon, and use Verizon. Still on build MPJ24.139.49. Contacted Moto and they supposedly sent it to engineering, but never received the .64 security update or Nougat. Not rooted or boot unlocked.

They sent your phone to the engineering section? Or they sent the issue? Same problem, just stuck at -48 not -49

Sent the issue. Nothing was ever resolved. Yesterday I followed the instructions on how to unbrick the phone and the factory image. It does wipe your phone, but I was immediately asked to update to 7.0. The update worked and now I am on NPJ25.93-14.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this comment. After following the instructions to "unbrick" my phone I received the Nougat 7.0 update within 15 seconds of completing the Google setup and dropping to the home screen.
My Moto G4 XT1625 Amazon (Warehouse Deals) was previously stuck on the .49 software version and wouldn't update through the settings no matter how many times I wiped my phone or checked for an update.
I followed the unbricking instructions at the link below. I skipped the "Fastboot+abds" drivers because the first ADB install included both ADB and Fastboot. I followed all of the other instructions carefully and within minutes had Nougat downloading to my phone.

I am running Windows 10 v1607. I was able to get RSD Lite running no problem and it detected the phone just fine. Running the commands through Fastboot should produce the same results as I think that's all RSD Lite is doing behind the scenes anyway.
Update: Just got the Nougat update!! It worked so well, thank you for everyone helping to fix my update issue. I'm going to start a new thread with instructions on how to get the update. Thanks so much

So yesterday I picked up my brand new moto x pure.
I unlocked it no problem using the guide on Motorola site no problem here.
I then installed twrp without any hitches.
I then decided to install supersu which then bricked my phone, me panicking I then decided to wipe the device (including the OS and recovery) so now I am stuck with a very expensive paper weight.
I have tried connecting to the phone with adb but all I get is no devices found.
If anyone can help me fix my phone be it through pm or Skype or w.e. I will happily throw some money there way just because it is urgent I get my phone up and running.
Oh yeah and my moto x is the unlocked international version as I live in the uk.
Sorry of this is in the wrong place but I really am not sure what else to do.

Boot into bootloader.
fastboot devices
Should return device connected just like you did unlocking bootloader and flashing recovery.
Flash recovery through fastboot.
Flash rom through recovery (mtp, otg, from device sdcard, etc)
If you have mm bootloader, it's mfastboot.
mxpe 6.0

I have bricked my Droid OG, Droid 2, and Droid Turbo just tell Motorola you didnt want the most recent OTA update and you accidentally installed it, but you were happier with the stock image and you would like to go back to that image. Then they will send you a shipping label and they will fix your phone in about a week turn around. Motorola is pretty good about this, dont mention your phone bootloader is unlocked just say its not booting up and you want the stock image back.
Otherwise go here. and download all the items in the description, then just go step by step

Exactly how is firmware for the droid turbo going to help the OP with a moto x pure??
Might really end up with a hard brick after that
To the OP, I hope you recorded your system version number from the about screen before starting down this path. If not, grab the marshmallow ota firmware from one of the threads.

Hi, I'm new to ROM flashing etc. and seem to have gotten myself in trouble.
I bought a used Moto X Pure (XT1575 model) with, I guess, the Motorola unlocked bootloader and TWRP already installed. I accidentally approved an OTA update this afternoon and ended up in a boot-loop.
In trying to fix it I used the "restore-to-stock tool" for windows found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...ndows-tool-moto-x-style-pure-edition-t3199905
This was semi-successful; the OS loaded and I was able to begin migrating my old apps, but
(1) the wi-fi doesn't work at all! I can't turn it on in settings -- the slider will slide on but then slide back off by itself
(2) the recovery image seems screwed up; I can't get into recovery mode, and get an error there instead.
I am at a loss as to what to do but see my last resort in using fastboot to upgrade to the 6.0 stock image as described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/development/pure-firmware-tuff-wip-t3224833
I'm too tired to try tonight, so I thought I'd ask for advice before I go to bed. What are my options here, especially if the upgrade to 6.0 creates new problems? Can I get error meessages for the wireless so I at least know what's going on? Can I reflash the wireless firmware -- might it have been messed up if one or another upgrade was interrupted somehow?
Also -- hope I'm in the right forum -- please point me in the right direction if I'm not!
Many thanks for the help!

Oh man, I had NOT read far enough in that thread. The solution was simply to reflash the modem,
Code:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
Just did it and the wifi issue seems to be fixed!
How should I approach the crashed recovery partition? When I got the phone, TWRP was installed as well as SuperSU. I tried the restore-to-stock tool mostly because of the problem with OTA updates being so frustrating; but I wouldn't object to reinstalling TWRP and SuperSU, if I knew how to get and install new images within a few days of the OTA update arriving (I have been deferring the last OTA update since the day I got the phone, a month ago -- I was bound to make a typing error eventually, and it happened yesterday). Anyway, if you can point me in the right direction for learning that stuff I'd be grateful.
So psyched to have wifi working! THank you!
There's a twrp thread in og dev
So I purchased my Zenfone 2 about two weeks ago and immediately set about rooting it.
The person who owned it before me had received the OTA update 21.40.1220.1708. I checked the website and it didn't have it listed under ZE551KL so I assumed he simply forced an update for the wrong model, and set about rolling back to update 21.40.1220.1615. In the process, I deleted my OS.
From there, the phone obviously doesn't boot. I've tried installing update from SD in recovery with the zip file for 21.40.1220.1615 from ASUS' website but it says that it's an older version and cannot be used, but anyone who is familiar with the current situation knows that ASUS hasn't dropped update 21.40.1220.1708 on their website. What's worse, some people are speculating they revised the version number on the website version from 1708 to 1615, making it utterly useless in putting the OS back on my device.
To top it all off, the bootloader is still locked. I can access recovery and fastboot, but with the bootloader locked it doesn't help me that much.
Does anyone know a way of getting the OS back on my device? Any help would be appreciated.

Figured it out.
I had to search for a stock recovery image. It had to be untouched because a modified version would be rejected because my bootloader was locked. Found one, used ADB+Fastboot to flash it on, threw update 1615 on an SDCard and it's installing right now.
can you please share that recovery....

I have a xperia c4 e5303, is a awesome device and 5-6 days ago i wanted to use xposed firmware to enable a fake gyroscope.
AND THE HELL STARTED.
I had the device rooted with custom recovery twrp when i was in lollipop 5.1, i installed the firmware for xposed and the phone was stucked in "android optimization", for hours. I restarded it sometimes but nothing, so i formatted my device and when i rebooted it, i was stucked in "sony" logo screen, some minutes ago i founded that my phone was totally empty.
c: *internal screaming*
I waited the next day, i downloaded the ftf of original marshmallow 6.0 firmware for sony xperia c4 and i installed it on my device, then everything worked perfectly luckely.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy, or not?
Some hours after i founded that i couldn't use the recovery mode!
I searched and searched and i founded that the problem could be the bootloader,so i used a sony official guide to unlock that.
I couldn't finished that guide becouse with any connection, on any computer, android sdk can't install his components(such as google usb driver, that are required for that method), and the program just install everytime the same package in loop. I tried aaaallll the method in the universe for that, i tried also to install once per once the zip files of the downloaded package but it was totally useless.
So i founded another method after some days of searching (with flashtool) and now my bootloader is fully unlocked, if i use flashtool to unlock the bootloader, it says that is unlocked and ask me if i want to relock it so i think now the bootloader unlock is done. FINALLY.
Then, i turned off the phone and started it by pressing the volume down+power botton, and all the device did was reboot himself repitetly until i release hard keys and when i do it the phone start automatically.
I think my device now reboot himself instead of going in recovery mode.
What can i do i am totally frustrated about this and i really don't want to buy a new device becouse i don't have a gyroscope. I love my xperia c4, i just don't know why i can't get the recovery mode back to install twrp, for rooting the device, for retry to get xposed virtual sensor and then finally enjoy my vr experience...
In the end, i have a Xperia C4 5303 with original Marshmallow 6.0 firmware installed, that can't go in recovery mode in any ways.
Pls someone help me..
no one?..
No one here know hot to save my smartphone?

Digging through XDA (next time use the website's search bar, tee hee hee) I found this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp.../bootloader-unlocked-custom-recovery-t3285521
Edit: I know it says C5 Ultra whatever but the thread says it also works with your model (C4 E5303 no?)
Before trying anything, I'd seriously recommend reading all eleven pages so you don't miss anything and end killing your phone (or back at square 1).
I'm not an expert on Android or anything (I personally have only owned 1 device — a first gen Moto G), but the method presented in the thread is very odd. Are all Xperia phones this weird?
Read carefully — some steps might be unnecessary (after all, you already unlocked your bootloader [maybe?])
P.S. you lost the recovery because by installing the original firmware it basically got erased (original firmware didn't have TWRP after all!)
P.S.S. you should create a backup once you get TWRP up and running, just in case.
I can't help you more than this because I do not own the device, so I cannot share ~personal wisdom~ with you (beyond recommending the Moto G series).
Good luck!
( And search the forums and threads before posting — that's an XDA rule! )

Thanks a lot for your time, but i am using that thread to root this, and i am stucked at the last point becouse i don't know what he means with:
"THIS IS IMPORTANT
The rom has
Code:
recovery.from.boot.p"
I did all the steps except for that, and i get no errors but when i try to boot in recovery the phone just stay on the logo and then after some minutes reboot himself and starts normally.
i already ask what the last point is in that thread
p.s.: i know i will not have twrp if i reinstall stock fw, but the point is that i don't have also the normal recovery, i can't access to that via adb or via hard keys..

Ah. You should've mentioned it (i.e. linked to the guide). Sorry sorry!
Read further down. The "recovery.from.boot.p" is this thing that overwrites TWRP with the stock recovery. Following the «THIS IS IMPORTANT» indication are instructions to get rid of the thing, and so being able to keep TWRP permanently.
You need that last step to succeed.

RIP
My phone was broken through rigorous device testing at work. Took ZTE a very long time but they finally delivered my repaired phone in November. Been extremely busy and transfered my life to a replacement Moto G5 but now I want to go back to my trusted ZTE...
...except I can't update my device. What they sent back to me was a device with the last installed update from Jan 2017. Now that's OK if I can just go and update it, but I can't. Servers are dead, and I don't have the time to go and start rooting/unlocking/installing Roms. And I think because of how old the last update is, apps like Android Auto aren't working properly with my car.
Would be nice if the US gov't played nice and just allowed ZTE to at least keep their servers up and running, but I have no control of that. Right now I'm at the point where I'm deciding on buying a Oneplus 6 if I can't get this phone working properly. Android Auto is a #1 priority for me.
Is there a way to grab update Zips somewhere online and easily update from the updater tool? I did this before when I got my device to Android 7.1.1 ways back (I purchased my ZTE almost 2 years now).
Which one do you have the U, G and the Chinese version?

Not without the B35 stock firmware which no one seems to have as ZTE never put it up on the support page before everything went down.
I still have a fully stock phone for now and I have been trying to find a way to root without wiping my device so I can try to pull the OTA from /data, but so far I haven't had any luck.

As i got my A2017G two day before, there was the v B02 installed on it! (from apr. 2017?)
Unfortunately, i can’t get a newer OTA update because all ZTE servers seems to be offline.
But I have found several v A2017G/B10 zip files in the internet. I have downloaded two of them and compared. Result=Equal
After putting some of the files onto my sd, the update was found and installed successful! Now i am on B10.
A little bit of work, but a good result!
