Just wondering if anyone knows how to get the menu to pop up with the option to enable wireless display? I used to be able to use cast screen to mirror my phone on my firestick . Since the nougat update, the cast screen screen is blank with no option to enable. Any help would be cool thanks.
I thought that on Nougat only ChromeCast works. Google put other cast options back in 7.1.1, so you can use a custom (7.1
.1) rom or modify the build prop.
When you search your problem on xda you can find some solutions.

It seems Google Assistant hotword apk swap on NMF26F 7.1.1 no longer works for training the vice activation.
I've tried the old apk, and the new one, same thing.
Can anyone else confirm?
Anyone find a solution on NMF26F?

What are you trying to swap where?
@Jammol
In android 7.x prior to NMF26F, to get Google Assistant working correctly, you had to swap out OK Google enrollment apk (hotwordenrollment.apk)
Otherwise a screen would pop up asking you to train your voice every time you said OK Google.
This swapping out of apks does not seem to work on NMF26F anymore.

That's weird. I have never had to swap that apk on stock Android. Assistant works by just flashing any of the mods for it, and wiping the data of the Google app. Are you referring to when flashing AOSP Roms and getting assistant perhaps?
@Jammol
Custom ROMs yes, mostly based on AOSP, but primarily on the stock Nexus firmware, as I specify here NMF26F 7.1.1 for 6p

That's why I asked what and where. Lol.
The hot word swapping hasn't been working for some since 7.1 AOSP based Roms. All of the STOCK based Roms don't need it either unless the dev stripped out everything Google related and force you to flash OpenGapps.
However, what you saying is that you are on a STOCK based 7.1.1 rom and the assistant isn't working? What is the rom name?

That Rom is still AOSP based. Are you copying a Deodexed version of the apk? That Rom appears to be Deodexed, and I know that the Stock firmware os Odexed by default. You can check the PN or CM14 thread to see if anyone has posted a Deodexed version of the apk. You can probably even just Google Search for one.

You're welcome. I wish you the best of luck. Hotword detection has been the biggest pain in the butt with AOSP ever since OpenGapps made changes to the way they build Gapps.

I should note however that it's the same hotword apk I've copied in the past, and it worked. For some reason the same apk does not work this time.
Maybe the developer of ROM switched odex/deodex with the latest build.
The previous build was 7.1 I think, where as the new one I thought he wrote was based off the new stock firmware NMF26F
Using the old oak doesn't work for me anymore either since upgrading to 7.11 on Nitrogen's latest build. I can train my voice and it will work the first time but everything then after it brings up the screen to train voice again. Oddly though if you dismiss the voice training by clicking the later button assistant is there and will work until you close it out.
Please note that this write up is based on the assumption that you have a rooted after updating firmware to 7.1.1 and also unlocked bootloader
On several ocassions I was tempted to take firmware upgrade to Anroid 7.1.1 but thinking of missing xposed, I was delaying it. Finally I decided to take the firmware update mainly because of several goodness packed in Android 7.1.1. Finally I updated my device with Android 7.1.1 and took following alternatives to enjoy the benefits that I was enjoying with xposed.
1. I hate softkeys and also wanting to always keep status bar immersive. Xposed immersive module was doing the job. I achieved the same wihtout xposed as below,
Added a line in build.prop qemu.hw.mainkeys=1, and restart phone hides navbar permenantly. Installed Tile Root to hide status bar and the good thing about this this app is that it doesn't loose notification pull down option. Once installed it will be seen in Quick settings as it doesn't have launcher. Using Quick settings edit, you can being the immersive button and use it to go immersive. We need Pie Control to manage the absence of navbar.[/URL]
2. YouTube background playback was possible with the help of xposed module. I managed the same screen off playback as below,
Installed OG YouTube which is a moded version of official YouTube. This has the ability to play YouTube in the background. You can search yourself to find this modded app
3. Magisk work for 7.1.1 hence if anyone wants to use Android Pay it is still possible
If anyone wants to find alternative for the xposed module that were in use until MM, please post here. We can collectively find a best possible options.
Xposed resurrection Remix 7.1.1?

No xposed framework for Android 7.1.1 yet. I understood from xposed author that it is still in progress.

YouTube ads can be filtered using xposed module YouTube Adaway. I am Adguard to do this job and selected HTTPS filtering instead of VPN option. It works better now. I can enjoy YouTube videos without ads which use to appear every 15min.
I miss some module that allowed to swipe up and down in the official youtube app for changing volume

I am using adguard for two weeks now and do not see any issue. Also, adguard is helping to protect our privacy too.
My question is: why is this new UI from chrome canary not available on custom ROM? I'm running nougat on the screenshot. in oreo i get the old square chrome design even when i enable duplex.. also accesibility tab switcher is forced on, even if i disable it in chrome://flags.
I assume you want this look in the standard Chrome app? If so, the new UI is in testing and isn't ready for the public. Google will release it when it's ready.

Huh. Google must be A/B testing.
It's been a while since the google news feed on the sidebar stopped working for me on all android 8.x roms. I have been trying to solve, but with no success in any launcher (trebuchet, pixel home screen, google home screen, and more.) I already did several tutorials found out there. I have the same result. When sliding, the side screen appears, but without any card or news updates. I already entered the settings and nothing is solved. I've tried roms RR, AICP, AEX .. just worked in GIZROM and others with android 6.0. I am currently in the last AICP build with the same problem. Other users who are in the same build do not report the same problem. It just happens to me ...... does anyone know how to solve it?

No bro, it not get support from dolby
is there a way to manual download and install the official ota? the updater says its up to date... ta 1053
Unexpected error
libfs_mgr dt_stab fail to mount device on system partition
Do to OTA via VPN and forgotten OEM unlocking bootloader option.
But otherwise its working flawlessly except keyboard lag and some statusbar colors missmatch with app shifting.
There is a way to force ota via VPN
It must be hard reseted without any wifi or account installed and no sim cards. First setup language Netherlands, timezone Brussels, no account no wifi ,no gps , disable google play store and download vpn apk from internet to pc, transfer from pc to phone, install vpn apk. Enable wifi and set VPN to Netherland it will force update. Dont forget to enable developer options and enable oem unlocking before doing this!

Same as before.
Battery consumption is a disaster. Was able to get 300mah on SOT which is 10h.now its jumping all the way to 800-900mah i hope its adaptive battery learning
i have recently update nokia 5 on pie but there is no pro mode or no swipe up home screen gesture is there any bug or may disable in this build...
There are plenty of bugs
So far fingerprint is automatically deleted with battery 0.
Mobile network is restarting every time you get in mobile network options (apn) etc.
Statusbar icons and text miss shifting between white and dark color. Keyboard lag opening and text not always.
Battery not optimized
Dark mode in developer mode not working with battery saver
