Sure u want that?
Moderator please move this thread.

You should post your these kind of topics here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help
It's highly recommended that you change your username to something else by sending a message to a moderator or creating a new account.
For rooting, you can try using Odin with c.f. auto root which is the best method I know of and maybe follow some youtube video while doing so. C.f. auto root file for your model: https://download.chainfire.eu/930/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hero2lte-hero2ltexx-smg935f.zip
If it still doesnt work you can start off from step one after flashing the stock firmware (thats what I would do in most cases)

Which version of Android are you running now? MM or Nougat? No root for Nougat yet.

For future reference when someone tries to help, its best not to disrespect them....
I have the i9500 and all i did was flash CWM.zip using ODIN on my PC.
Then you can flash superuser.zip in CWM. Piece of cake!
Do you need a how to guide for that or do you know what I mean?
Does this method work on new kernels with the root-block thing?

I'm not sure about rooting part, since mine is quadcore version and the process might be different

I wouldn't use either of those methods. They require too much transferring between PC and device. Which is where incomplete flashing and hard bricking occurs.
I would just flash CWM using odin... Then you can do what ever you want i.e. flash super user, or a kernel or custom ROM that has root.

If your boot loader is locked (Like the AT&T version) then you will need to unlock that first, then root.

Excuse the noob question. How do I know if my bootloader is unlocked. I bought my phone in an airport in the duty free and is sim unlocked, but I dont know if the bootloader is unlocked.
In case it is unlocked, then the new cofface CWM should be able to root my phone?
Thanks in advance

Is it the i9500? Then thats unlocked.
The i9505 is mostly unlocked unless its from AT&T...
Yes you should be able to just flash CWM using ODIN, and you are good to go. If the bootloader is locked then the flash using ODIN wont work. Thats all. Nothing will happen. (it wont stuff up your phone)

All good. You are set to go!
Take a look at my youtube channel (link in the signature)
I've done a look at a few things to fix the S4 octa. Like a kernel that fixes zRam issues and a ROM review on both the OMEGA ROM and wanam ROM...
What are you saying is we really don't need any PC to root this? and what's ODIN?
When i root my HTC there's specific 'HTC only' files called HBOOT, Unlock_code.bin through HTCDev.com website
is ODIN specific 'Samsung only' files as well?
I know I've root my Samsung Galaxy Young S5360 but that thing's already come pre-rooted, just like my Galaxy Note 2
(forgot to add both to my sig, maybe after rooting s4 -.,-)
Also, how to unlock Samsung's bootloader in general? It doesn't need SamsungDev.com website or such right? :silly:

ODIN is a tool that you use on your PC.
You plug your S4 into your PC via USB and then ODIN adds the clockwork mod recovery files to the system.
- This is a video i created on how to root the galaxy Note. So for your S4 its exactly the same, except the file you are flashing is different.
Link: Kernel to flash...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1985575&d=1369329536
Once you have flashed this kernel, then when you reboot it will say you are not rooted, do you want to root. So you just say yes, and then it will reboot and you are done...
There's no ODIN for S4 octa core version?
1.85 is for GT-I9505... :silly:
I don't know why making a great deal out of it it's very simple you can use cofface method HERE and then goto odin 3.07 which does support i9500.... set his file in the pda section and flash it (of course when you are in download mode) thats about it, goto recovery and use the root option there is a menu for rooting in there.
these are the files use them http://d-h.st/WM2
don't forget to stop by his thread and hit the thanks button.

I've been following this thread and have used your method hamdogg and don't think I'm rooted. It seemed too easy. How can I check?? I tried an app that says I need root access, and it didnt work. So am I right to assume that I am not rooted?
Thanks..

Hi Gregg. If you flashed the kernel then you will need to boot into CWM, then select 'reboot'. Once you have done that it will prompt you to 'root'.
Thats it... easy. Then your apps that require root will work.

Wouldn't that method put knox to 0x1? Or am I mistaken. And couldn't he try using towelroot, depending on the version hes on?
He doesn't have a Verizon phone. He has an international model or at least that is what he listed. Not everyone can go up and down firmwares like we can.
You are right though. He could try towelroot first.

Your questions would be safer answered by someone on the Galaxy S5 international forum but I found a couple of things. Use with caution as I don't know anything about your device.
Here is a link on how to upgrade to lollipop if you are interested. Also, this custom recovery (CWM) was in the same link. I believe you might have an unlocked boot loader so you are way better off than we are.
I also found this:
Backup device
Quote:
Step 1. Boot into recovery(hold the menu button and volume up button all together simultaneously until the device reboots)
Step 2. Select the backup button and confirm backup

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Dev Edition

Could someone please post links to the proper root method for this device?
I'll have one in hand by tomorrow and don't want to mess it up straight out of the box.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, please move if necessary.

Download the file UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.16.zip. might be a different version nr, and put it on your sd card,
Find a custom recovery for your device and flash through Odin,
reboot in to recovery and flash superSU file and you are rooted

(REQ) Samsung Galaxy A8 SM-A800I (Root) SOLVED

I've searched and tried too many methods none of them worked.
I even broke my device (soft break) while I was trying to do a root using a method for SM-A800F model, and I had a really bad day.
I couldn't restore my device using stock rom it failed on writing boot.img step (using odin).
I had to extract boot.img from the stock firmware (using winrar) then creating a new boot.tar using this tool tar-Tool_Odin3-v3.07_by_mkh.mourad to fix the problem.
I've tried too many "one click root apps" for both PC and Android (king root, Frama, mobogenie, root genius, rootx, few more) also none of them worked.
any help would be great
Thanks

I've got this response from RVR, But I'm not convinced that this solution will work, because the recovery is not for this device.
it's for Samsung Galaxy Alpha which has 5.0.2 android version, mine is 5.1.1.
I think he just opened androidfilehost forum and searched for A8 and got a file for wrong device:
androidfilehost.com/?w=search&s=A8
Here's the link ..
Select in the AP tab of odin
Uncheck the auto reboot button
flash
reboot straight into recovery
Try flashing the SuperSU zip .. : download.chainfire.eu/SuperSU
Keep Stock firmware handy to flash in case the zip flash fails
