This happened earlier today out of the blue. My phone is rooted with TWRP, but beyond that, I haven't done anything that I think could cause this. I don't have a custom ROM or Xposed or anything like that. It just randomly stopped seeing my SIM card. It also may be important to note that the phone was carrier-locked when I got it, and I unlocked it myself. Any solutions?
It's a VNS-L23 on build VNS-L23C45B130
Well, maybe you broke the sim slot.

Hi,
I rooted my phone with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889325
Everything went well (I guess), I got the superuser app and everything seemed fine.
Only problem is that my sim card is somehow locked so I have no service at all. I tried two
different operators but the result is the same. Should I flash something else or what?
Hi, sorry for just jumping in here. But, my galaxy s4 i9505, android 4.2.2, baseband version i9505XXUBMGA, has all of a sudden decided to not recognise the sim card its had in it for the past 2 months. Ive rooted this device but not played with it any further as im not sure what im doing. Ive tried the sim card in another phone and it works fine, other sim card from other devices also do not work in this phone. It first started showing no sim a couple of days ago but i restarted it and it came back on and it recognised it straight away but over night it totally stopped working. Ive googled and searched these forums and found no answer. Ive installed stock firmware and put it back to the state it was in when i received it with no luck. Im worried this may be a hardware failure and not a software one. Really hoping somebody is so kind to throw sme light on my problem. Thanks in advance
I had this on my i9505.
It came up "sim removed, mobile data will not be available until sim is re inserted".
Every sim i tried didnt work.
Had to send to samsung and they found a faulty sim reader. So they replaced it.

Hi all. I have a bit of a problem with my phone after updating to Oreo.
My brother bought me an unlocked SM-G950U1, which I am using now in the UK. I had no problem with it so far, I could do everything but using Samsung Pay, but it didn't bother me. Last weekend, I finally updated to oreo. Did the whole process, and when my phone restarted, it asked me to restart again because of the sim card. Once it got back, and when I went to update the samsung apps on the galaxy apps store, I got a message saying that it wasn't available in my country. Investigating on line, I found out that my CSC had changed to GCF, when it should be XAA, and this was likely the reason behind my problems. I followed a guide I found here to change it back, and I got it back to what it should be. I did all this process without a sim card, and I checked the galaxy apps app and it worked! But the moment I put in my sim card, same message asking me to restart my phone, it did some sim updating, and when I checked again galaxy apps, the same issue came back.
I think my issue is that it gets region locked by the sim card. Is there a way I can bypass all that process, and prevent the sim card from "updating" my phone?
Cheers
I think Im running into the same situation as you are. Did you ever find a solution?
Hello everyone. After a lengthy battle, yesterday I finally was able to unlock my bootloader, flash a global rom (via MiFlash) to my Redmi Note 7 and lock the bootloader again using fastboot.
However I've encountered an issue that is very annoying. Every time the phone boots, it fails to read my Sim card, so I'm forced to eject it and then reinsert it in order for it to work properly. I use an SD card and I tend to reboot my phone once or twice a week, so you can get an idea of how much of an inconvenience this is.
I'm pretty sure this must be a software Issue because before the ROM change, I've never had an Issue with this. My phone model is M1901F7H and the rom is Miui global (10.3 Stable 10.3.5.0).
I need to mention that my current carrier (I got the phone from them) disables the hybrid sd card/sim slot and sells the phone with only one working sim slot and a custom ROM. After installing the global rom I noticed that now I can enable/disable the dual 4G connectivity for both sims toggle (it was greyed out before) however that is the only option regarding the dual sim settings that I can interact with and the second slot is still only usable for an Sdcard.
Currently I don't care much about the dual Sim feature, but it has crossed my mind that maybe my current Issue is related to this?
Anyways, thank you for taking your time to read this post and I apologize for the wall of text.
I would be very grateful if someone could help out.
Edit: I forgot to mention that one of my banking apps is now unusable as it crashes over and over again since I've installed the Global Rom. Don't know if it's related to the issue, but it worked just fine beforehand.
Check out my thread.
I'm also on 10.3.5 and think the issue is software related.
After reading your post, I'm thinking we may have something similar going on. My phone is working fine with no problems reading the SIM card after a factory reset a few days ago.
Hopefully you don't end up having the exact same problem I did.
I also have the same problem, I have to take out the SIM every time I reboot, I have the derpfest ROM and so far I have not been able to solve the error.
Hey, I have a question for people who have unlocked bootloader - do you happen that once in a while, the phone does not detect the SIM card after a restart?
Because I have such a problem since updating to Android 11, it does not happen on a locked bootloader, but on unlocked sometimes I have to restart the phone up to 4 times in a row until the phone detects the SIM card. I have had this problem for several months now, no system update has fixed it so far.
At first I thought that maybe it was a defect of my model or my SIM card tray, but 2 days ago my girlfriend bought a OnePlus 8T, I unlocked the bootloader on her phone and the same thing started to happen, her phone also has problems detecting the card SIM now, did any of you have a similar problem and maybe found a solution?
I have the same problem as you described on my 8 Pro.
I haven't had that problem with my 8 Pro although I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it first before I put my sim card in and made sure I already did these and updated before even using the sim

It happens to my 8pro too once in awhile. I just need to reboot several times.
I have exactly the same issue with mine. In case anyone wants to start comparing notes, I have an 8 Pro with a fairly old Verizon SIM (actually was a Micro SIM that was cut down). I've found that it happens almost every time you reboot, but almost never if you do a full power off and then power back on. I don't remember having the problem with the original OOS11 but after 11.0.2.2 it started showing up.
