New GearVR 2016 Heads up (20% off in store)

Just wanted to pass along the info to you guys. I noticed this morning that on the VerizonWireless website that the 2016 model GearVR was showing as "20% off with the purchase of a Note7" so I figured it was worth a shot to try it in store even though I had pre-ordered. They had no problem hooking me up with the new GearVR for $84.79 after tax once I showed them the receipt that came in my Note7 package. I just so happened to have $84 left on the VZW Debit card I received as part of the S7 BOGO deal I got for my wife and son back in June, so I only had to fork over $0.79 out of pocket.

I purchased mine on pre-order at full price. I called them and they credited my account $20.

Very interesting! I was just at the Verizon store and they had a deal going on. With the purchase of a Note 7 (or proof of purchase) they were offering the Gear VR 2016 Edition for $49.99 + tax. Needless to say, I got one...

I think you got lucky because they had the white MicroUsb one for $49.99. The Dark Blue USB C one was 20% off to be $80.

Sales rep might not have realized that there was a difference aside from the external color and just rolled with the 50% off deal. Congrats!

Also $79.99 at BestBuy in store only. No need to purchase Note 7 like the Verizon deal. Grabbed the last one today.

I heard on the radio today that AT&T was selling them again. But, both Best Buys within an hour of me said probably later this month before they even get any in stock.

I did a search on the best buy website for stores within 250 miles and found one store 80 miles south of me with only black in stock. So of course I went down the next day and passed 2 best buys to get to the one that had a few blacks in stock

The guy I talked to at a corporate store told me that Samsung was only paying AT&T through the 15th of this month to handle the returns and that he guessed that would be close to when they would start selling them again at AT&T stores. That's just his guess though.

Oct 14 is relaunch date, if best buy has them they will sell it to you, as of right now no note 7s in at the best buy I work at.

I would try best buy online, I bought mine last week on sept 28th. Got a message the next morning that it was going to be delayed, was kinda sad wanted to cancel but decided to wait it out. On the 30th I got a confirmation email saying it was shipped and lo and behold it was delivered the same day. I used overnight shipping and they even credited me for it because of the possible "delay" beforehand.

yeah you just have to find the right store, I never owned the Note 7 before the recall, then on Sept. 23 I called my local ATT corporate store, and they had the Blue Coral in stock and I asked if they would sell me one.... the sales guy had to ask the manager, so I walked out with brand new coral blue N7 within 10 mins.

I just ordered one on the Best Buy website. In my area in-store pickup is currently unavailable. But they will ship it to you, and you can get next-day delivery for an additional charge.
I think they are getting a new stock, because I was not able to place an order for delivery or pickup yesterday.

Wonder if they are shipping them on Southwest Airlines

Sprint Pre-order Waiting and Shipping Room

I didn't see one for Sprint so I figured I would start one. I ordered directly from Sprint. Got the black S8+. I was debating ordering from them or Best Buy but went for Sprint. Hoping I get it before April 21st.

I ordered a black s8 yesterday from sprint telesales. I'm on the galaxy forever from sprint and apparently over the phone was the only way of processing my order because the system in store and online was trying to charge me the rest of the contract on my s7.

I was having the same exact thing! After multiple hours on the phone, online and in the store. Finally was elevated to retention department and they were able to fix the problem (I think they simply voided the lease). So frustrating since my wife's had no problem upgrading. Glad to hear (although unfortunate) that I wasn't the only one having this problem.

IS there not that many Sprint people around? Am I with the wrong carrier?

I'm around and getting ready to do the same thing (upgrade to the S8)

No samsung bought it for 1000 to get it off the market so I'm sending it back and paying off my s8+ that way I can upgrade to the note 8

Because I signed up to return it and never did. So they contacted me and offered me more. And sprint contacted them when I tried to upgrade to s8+ and my meid number didn't match my original note 7 so sprint couldn't do anything

I am selling my Pixel XL (128mb) when this comes in. WELL - I'll live with it a little bit and make the decision.
The Pixel XL is honestly really great. Just boring.
And I am excited to get to a "truly one handed" phone with a large screen (if infact the S8 can be that for me).
Does Sprint have any history of delivering early or anything?

I'm with T-mobile, but over the weekend a Sprint rep tagged me down while I was walking by, he was arguing with me that 256GB micro SD card doesn't exist, because they were offering 128GB micro SD card lol

I pre-ordered in black, online at 1 am on the 30th. Hoping they ship early, but being on sprint and with a Samsung phone I doubt it.

Just wanted to share some of the information I put together while putting in two pre-orders for S8's today at a Best Buy Mobile store.
First off, I was informed by the Assistant Manager that helped me at Best Buy Mobile that the $50 "gift card" for the S8 and $100 "gift card" for the S8+ would lower the amount of the installments over the period of the 24 month installment plan (I assume the same for the lease option too).
For instance, if I go with the 24 month installments on the S8 ($50 deal), I would get $2.08 off for 24 months bringing the monthly price down from $31.25 to $29.17. If I got the S8+ ($100 deal), I would get $4.16 off for 24 months bringing the monthly price down from $35.42 to $31.26.
Now based on what I have read on other forums I am still left wondering if I am actually getting a gift card for the phone or if it will be applied like mentioned above.
In addition I called Sprint to ask about the special offer "Get a $10/mo. loyalty credit on lease or installment billing when you stay on your current plan." that shows on my account. I was informed that I would not be eligible to receive this credit if I got the phone from Best Buy and the only way would be to order it through Sprint or through "telesales". I feel like the person was lying to me and just trying to get a sale.
The Assistant Manager at Best Buy Mobile checked with her local rep who told her that I would get the $10 loyalty credit and that it doesn't matter where the phone comes from; if your plan is eligible the credit will hit your account within a few billing cycles. I asked about the waived $30 upgrade fee that Sprint is offering. The rep said I would not get that (which I'm OK with if everything else checks out).
Anyway, if all this works like I have been told by Best Buy, my two S8's I ordered will be $19.17 a month and if I would have got an S8+ it would come to $21.26 a month.
The question is what is true and what is not true?

Preordered from sprint.com the first day it was available. Getting a $10 a month loyalty credit, or $240 off over 2 years.

I ordered mine from Sprint today. I normally would have used Best buy but they don't offer Galaxy forever.
I had the same problems ordering as others here. They tried to charge me for the rest of my lease from my S7.
Once I called they cancelled the rest of my lease to fix the problem.
At this point it seems Sprint has the best pre-order deal.

Last week the Samsung eBay page had the S8 and Plus for $599 and 699, but by the time I went to order, only had the Plus. After using it a few days, but a bit too tall and heavy for my liking, so sending it back.
I ordered the S8 from Samsung yesterday using the $200 trade in and free 2 day shipping. It also said backordered, but did ship out a few hours later for delivery tomorrow.
The oldest phone I have here is a Verizon Note 2, so I'll most likely sent it in for the tade, as they are only selling for about $100.
So in the end, would go from $740 for the S8+
(including tax) on eBay to $450 for S8 on Samsung.com. I know I could of done the S8+ for $100 more, but opted for the slightly smaller model.

Seems this is a trend, price is high in the first few months and then it drops, same thing happened with the s7.

I did! I sure hope I don't get ripped off.

Samsung is known for ripping off people

Yep, I ordered the unlocked version yesterday, but it's backordered. I figured that I'm never going to get $200 from my LG G5 unless I take them up on this.
Anyone care to comment on how long you've been backordered? I'm a bit concerned about this arriving when I'm out of town in a few weeks, which reduces the time I have to transfer and then ship off my trade-in.

So the trade in for the Sprint only accepts Samsung phones, not any phone for $200 like some of the other carriers. If I trade in my HTC 10 for the Verizon version of the S8 would I be able to follow the carrier switch guide and activate it on sprint?

Got my shipping notice today. That was 9 days, I think.

I ordered on the 20th and got it on the 22nd, even though it said it was backorder.

Ordered on the 19th and received it 2 days later.
Traded in my wife's Verizon S6 for the unlocked version for $454.xx

Mine shipped yesterday, and should arrive on Monday (July 3). I hope they take my Samsung Galaxy S (AT&T Captivate). Perhaps they can put it in a museum. It meets every qualification I can find, as it holds a charge and the screen is in perfect shape.

With last years note samsung shipped out a few days before T-Mobile. My biggest reason for going direct to Samsung though is that I wanted the Galaxy Watch 3 and didn't want to wait for the phone to arrive before ordering the Watch 3 with the $200 discount.

128 Bronze, Watch 3, Buds Live (both black) and a case. Nothing has shipped yet, seems on my invoice all will ship "by" 19th and est delivery on 21st.

Pre ordered my 512Gb black as soon as it was possible. Got a military discount of $108.75, not much but better than nothing. Didn't do a trade in, just paid for it all. About the 4th or 5th one I've ordered direct from Sammy, the others I ordered the T-Mobile variant but I got the unlocked one this time. Less bloat to get rid of and from what I've read it will have wifi calling and volte, only thing missing is video calling and I always disable it via adb anyway. Hopefully will ship before the 19th, don't know but fingers crossed.

128 bronze through TMobile. I have the galaxy buds plus. Thinking about the live. They seem more comfortable I guess. Also does anyone know if you can use an Xbox controller on the note for gamepass? Probably a silly question since you can use it on iOS for apple arcade.

I ordered Verizon Note 20 Ultra 128 GB Mystic White and used my credit on the White Bud lives. Phone and buds have a ship date of Aug 19 but my email states phone will arrive on Aug 21 and buds on Aug 24.. Not sure why that is when both items are on the same invoice and I ordered the day before pre-order opened because of my reservation

Same boat as alphamega. Ordered the verizon N20U, 128gb, bronze, through samsung the day before official release. Shop App says everything is shipping by the 19th, but online it says the phone gets here on the 21st, and the case and buds/uv/charger get here on the 24th. Who knows, I'd guess it'll all change by the time things start moving from warehouses.

Ordered 128gb white with buds live and a case. I wanted to wait to see the watch 3 review before ordering, I will trade in my gear s3 to get $100 off.

This is the first time I also order through Samsung. The JOD plan was asking too much as a down. I did it for the Note 10+ but no way I'm going to do a $550 down payment on it. Like some have said, hopefully we don't see any shipping delays.

I ordered bronze 128gb with the galaxy buds. Would have ordered different accessories, but it looked like it was charging an extra $50 for them. Got an email later saying they would credit me the $50 but it’s too late to change the order now. Bought from Sammy nearly every year. Note 7 I think shipped a week early. Wish that was the case this time around. Using my daughter’s crappy old iPhone since my son lost his phone a couple of weeks ago. Kids...

I have a friend who has been working there for a while and they feel it's a way to get people off the plans as they can just increase the monthly payment for it. The program was not really sustainable but it was a way to bring customers in. At one point, they had told their reps not to offer the JOD plans unless the customers asked for it. But I knew from the beginning it wasn't going to last.
