Root Moto G4 Play No Pc - Moto G4 Play Questions & Answers

Hi guys I have a Moto G4 Play and I would like to root
It. I currently dont have access to a laptop or Pc. I have
Tried all apps you could think of such as kingoroot
Kingroot z4root etc and they failed. I would like to root it to install lineage os thanks for the help.

Try using the required tools with another Android device using a chrooted Debian.

if you can get to a library or borrow a computer for 5 minutes that's all it takes. you can use portable adb/fastboot tools so no admin permission needed

[Q] Android Rooting

I am currently working on a project for my computer forensics course. I am trying to gather methods used to root Android's without having to install a custom ROM and lose the data held on the internal memory. I would appreciate it if people could help me generate a list of known methods for older and newer versions of Android.
--------------
E.g. AndRoot - used on versions lower than v2.27.651.6?
Universal AndRoot - used on v2.1
SuperOneClick
Unrevoked
--------------
I plan to roll back my HTC Hero to use the older ROM's and attempt the exploits. Does anyone recommend somewhere to get older stock ROM's from?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Z4Root is an app I used from the market that will root your phone without a PC.
1) Install Z4Root
2) Run app and hit "Perm Root"
3) Phone reboots and installs SU
4) Done

[Q] Root HTC HD2 with froyo and MAGLDR

Hello guys, last friday I successfully installed Froyo on my HTC HD2 and now I want to use the application MarketAccess but it throws an error when I try to emule the T-Mobile USA SIM(actually any that I try to emule), it says:
You need root(superuser) to use this application. It looks like "su" is not available on your device.
Please root your phone and ensure that "su" works fine.
I have superuser installed, could anyone tell me if my phone is rooted if not how to do it with this phone(remember that is does not have native Android) or how to make the "su" work and grant root permissions to my applications.
Thanks in advance
same issue
I have the same problem, I already have SuperUser on the ROM i flashed on the device, but it seems it's not rooted.
I checked for one click solutions to root it, like Z4Root, Universal Androot and SuperOneClick, but I couldn't find any confirmation that these work for a non-native Android device like the HD2 and I really don't want to brick my phone.
Help, please?
Open up super user and let the su binary get updated, or you can d/l z4 root.
I actually used z4root and worked perfectly

Can't install drivers

Sorry for the noob question but I haven't been able to figure this out. I just bought my son a Nook Color and I'm trying to root it. I can't get the drivers to install. I already have ADB installed from when I rooted my Kindle Fire. Every time I plug in the Nook, Windows installed the drivers automatically. I tried manually updating but it always says the best driver is installed. I tried some of the batch files other people created but nothing has worked. Any help would be appreciated. I hate being locked down.

Just a question why do you even need to install the drivers? They are not needed for root and then after you root you can use wireless adb which is a lot easier to set up and use.

Thanks for the reply. I basically just want the amazon app store. The Nook app store sucks. I was following some directions I found. I'll try some other methods.

If you just want to installthe Amazon app, then why you head into the ADB over USB thingy? Who lead you through that way?
I can help but it's irrelevant to get the Amazon app install and running.

I need some help getting to install SELinuxModeChanger to use with V4A.

Hello,
I just can't get SELinuxmodechanger to work. I am on N preview 3. I open the app and give it root acces, but then it just says ''App was unable to gain root acces''. What's the problem?

The Dev for the App had apparently abandoned the App so I, kind of, just took it on for further development the best i can.
If you want, uninstall that app and restart your device.
Once your booted up, try the one from the link below, that was slightly modified, for the Marshmallow and Nougat ROM's.
SELinuxModeChanger.ver.3.2.build.42.test1.apk
Then let me know on the following thread:
