If you're using the latest Marshmallow Firmware, then you cannot Downgrade anymore.
More info here: ***Warning*** DO NOT FLASH/INSTALL NEW MARSHMALLOW UPDATES!

Hi,
So I have an Australian SM-N910G running 5.1.1, and I want to get MM as it has been released for the Indian version of the SM-N910G. Reports have said there is no issues. If I were to do this, would I flash the 5.1.1 Indian firmware and update or am I able to just flash the 6.1.1 firmware over my stock 5.1.1 Australian firmware?

You just need to flash the Marshmallow firmware. I'm in a similar situation, have a N910C on 5.1.1, UAE version, about to flash 6.0.1 using the Poland N910C firmware.
can it be done without bootloader upgrade ??? and is a downgrade possible after that ?
The indian 6.0.1 MM firmware can be odin flashed over your existing 5.1.1 firmware without upgrading your bootloader.
You can still downgrade back to 5.1.1 after you flashed the MM firmware.
Recently I updated Note 4 N910f to 6.0.1 but Now I want to downgrad from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1

Samsung recently released the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware update for the Galaxy Note 3 with the model number SM-N900W8. The new firmware, which comes with the build number “VLU2DPG1,” was rolled out in multiple countries, including Canada, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. Here’s a tutorial showing manual installation for the Canadian version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
There are two official ways to get the new firmware — as an over-the-air (OTA) update and updating through Samsung Kies. If both these methods are not working, users can also install the firmware manually by downloading the N900W8VLU2DPG1 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow stock firmware and then flashing it using a tool called Odin.
The article is wrong, there is no mm for the n900w8.
DPG1 is lp: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N900W8/

It appears it is 6.0.1 MM for the N900

None of the note 3 phones have mm.
The article still refers to dpg1 as mm but it is really lp.
There is no stock mm for n900: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N900/
