Hello everyone.
I am new owner of an S7 Edge and so I root it is ok!
I have installed a recovery version 3.0.2.4 this is ok too but I have a concern to make a full backup.
1 - When starting recovery I have a screen that says "Installing zips or operations via adb may change the system partition".
2 - When I want to do a backup I have these 03 options that are checked.
Booting
System
Data
But when I drag to make this backup I have error messages

I think I have forgotten something, could you orient me please?

But there is still the solution of real recovery?

1. Reboot to TWRP, Wipe > Format Data > Type 'yes'. This will wipe all the data on your phone including internal storage.
2. Don't reboot, and flash either SuperSU or one of the zips from here (latest version would be preferred). Since you have to wipe your internal storage in the previous step, put the zip in your external sdcard beforehand or flash it through adb sideload if you know how to.
Be careful when flashing stock firmware with odin, as it will automatically encrypt your device again. After you flash stock firmware, reboot directly into download mode again, flash TWRP, reboot to TWRP, and then follow step 2.

I followed the following steps to flash oos 5.0.1 :
1. Update TWRP to the latest Codeworkx TWRP from the link posted
2. Reboot Recovery and Take a Nandroid of your existing ROM just in case you need it
3. Wipe > Advance Wipe > Select Dalvik & Cache > Swipe to Wipe
4. Install Menu > Select OOS 5.0.1 Full Rom Zip > Swipe to Flash
5. Flash Magisk 15.2 (Recommended for Root)
6. Wipe Dalvik & Cache
7. Reboot Recovery to make sure TWRP stays
8. Reboot System once recovery boots again.
i did this on my op5 rooted and encrypted .
so i followed all the steps precisely but in the end when i tried to boot into system it bootlooped (waited for hours to see if it really takes time on first boot). also when i open file manager in twrp it just shows weird long file names .
Yes I experienced the same thing too. I presume it's a problem with decryption after the update. I had removed all lockscreen security before updating (for nandroid). Maybe it was due to that? Would like someone to elaborate too.

As your device is encrypted so first you need to decrypt it so for that just boot into twrp select wipe and select format data and type yes as it will for format your entire data including internal storage... the most first step is to backup your internal storage in pc and apps through titanium backup and save that in pc and later decrypt it once your device is decrypted just enable MTP in twrp and copy files in storage and flash it.

Format data is must required for booting.
I was also rooted and encrypted using 4.5.15 and this is the method I followed and it worked:
Downloaded OnePlus5Oxygen_23_OTA_028_all_1801031502_04d7cc5. zip, twrp-3.2.1-0-universal-codeworkx-cheeseburger.img and Magisk-v15.3.zip.
Rebooted to TWRP and installed the Codeworkx TWRP using the Install->Image option inside TWRP.
Rebooted to TWRP again to make sure that my TWRP was updated.
Entered WIPE from TWRP main menu and used the 'Format' option to Format the Data and typed 'Yes'
This deleted my Internal Storage so I had to backup everything beforehand.
Then used advanced wipe to wipe Cache and Dalvik.
Mounted the internal storage by using the Mount option from TWRP main menu.
I was having problem copying files to the internal storage so I rebooted TWRP and the problem was fixed.
Copied the OnePlus full update and Magisk zip file.
Installed the OnePlus full update and Wiped Cache and Dalvik and rebooted the device to make sure that the OS boots.
Then rebooted the device to fastboot to flash Codeworkx TWRP again because it was unavailable.
Booted into TWRP and flashed Magisk.
I am now on Oreo and I hate the way Ambient Display looks right now.
I really want to have TWRP installed on my device and have OTA, is there anyway I can achieve this, maybe a flashabe zip that updates the device?
Let's start from the scratch. Unlock the bootloader and grab latest recovery image. Put your device into fastboot mode. Now boot into recovery temporarily and don't flash twrp. Now go to Backup and take a backup of Boot partition (make sure it's completely virgin). Now you can flash twrp and Magisk if you wish. When an OTA comes in, just reboot to twrp and restore the boot partition. Now your device is free from twrp and magisk and ready to get OTA update. But make sure you don't play with build.prop or uninstall any System app or play with System partition.If you change anything on System partition, you need to un-change them before trying to get OTA update. Boot partition will only help you to get rid of twrp and magisk. But if you wanna play with System partition, it's better to take a complete nandroid backup the same way I told you.

Don't worry about it. When you boot into twrp (temporarily), just swipe to allow modification and head on to Backup and take a backup of boot partition. Thats it.
Hi o am on the latest twrp for this phone. I don't have my data encrypted and when I boot into recovery from the phone using the reboot into recovery method it works fine. Bit if I power off the phone and reboot into recovery it says data is encrypted and asked for a password. I tried my lock screen password but it doesn't work. So I'm thinking that I should just wipe the entire phone and start fresh. I aslo noticed that since the last term update my Los updater doesn't work it won't run the updater script.
What would be the best way to do this? Should I just wipe the phone and then adb sidload the latest Los gapps and magisk? Or should I just wipe then push the files to my phone and install the from twrp? I have never done either of those operations but it doesn't look too complicated.n

I'm not newbie with flashing but this one I don't understand.
Probably I've done some mistakes with flashing/install/uninstall of roms/magisk/twrp.
Now I'm stuck with TWRP and can't boot into system because of something.
Every time I run TWRP and try to install all my files are encrypted, no matter I install TWRP by .img or .zip. Only working TWRP with decryption is temporary one, by "fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-6-fajita.img" command. But when I flash it by regular .img file by this tut (https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...overy-unofficial-twrp-touch-recovery-t3861482), after reboot it's back like 3.3.1-6-fajita version, BUT without decryption skills.
I thing I done some mistakes with uninstalling magisk ect. but I think it doesn't matter.
I tried to uninstall magisk by Magisk-uninstaller-20190204.zip on both slots, I tried install all again in regular way (install temp TWRP through fastboot command, install TWRP through this temp TWRP, install full newest OTA .zip, install TWRP again (I know I shouldn't but I tried both combinations - .zip and .img) and install Magisk and at least system reboot. But when I rebooted between OTA and Magisk (like guide tells) TWRP can't decrypt files. No matter what I've done nothing helped.
What can I do that I have not done yet? Of course, all is about I don't want format my data and re-install all from the scratch...
So... tell me, is possible to make TWRP great again?
Is everything only showing as encrypted when you try to restore a backup? I've been booting the img via fastboot then flashing the zip as it seems you have and it's been working fine as far as it staying installed and not showing all my files as scrambled, I also made the mistake of using Magisk uninstaller at one point, that didn't end well. Seems these A/B phones are temperamental as hell. I read somewhere else that doing backups to USB storage my be more reliable for a backup restoration, not sure if that would effect the encryption issues or not but I may have some time to test that tonight.
I've done that too - not helped. I restored my full nandroid backup by fastboot temp recovery (as I wrote, only this one can decrypt my files) but I've got "You device is corrupt"... and of course TWRP can't decrypt my files.
