will this work - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Could someone tell me if this would root a samsung SM-G900V, it sounds a little too easy.

No one even has any comments ? So I guess I will presume that the article has no merit. To bad , just what I was looking for , a stock root.
Thanks for looking,
Scotty

Thanks for the link. I rooted my s5 without a glitch but.......my samsung account doesn't work, scloud doesn't work, so I can not restore my memos or messages, contacts or calender. I have tried a factory rest but it didn't work. It seems that none of the Samsung sync apps are not installed.
Anyone know where I can download them?
Thanks,
Scotty

Yuodufus,
I don't know if you are still monitoring this thread or not but I have one more question. I rooted My S5 with the link that you give but I still can't get Samsung cloud, Samsung Sync or Samsung backup to work. I have search the Web for the files but no luck. Is there a way to upgrade to Marshmallow 6.0 and still keep root? The link that you give me says you can flash Marshmallow but will loose root.
I would be happy with a rooted stock Marshmallow and may get back the Samsung account.
Thanks for your time.
Scotty

If your phones emmc 15 then yes you should have no trouble upgrading and keeping root but if it's emmc 11 then you can only root 5.0

Exchange Mail without Pin Lock

Hi guys,
I've just set up my exchange mail on my new Note 3 and it's great, except it needs a PIN lock so every time I go to use my phone I have to put the PIN in which gets annoying.
Just wondering if there's a way to have the exchange mail without the PIN lock?
I downloaded a hacked mail app for my SGS3 when I had it which worked perfectly, but I'd like to avoid putting a custom OS on my Note 3 just to get the hacked mail app, if possible.
Any suggestions would be great
Yes, there's an Xposed framework add in called "Exchange Security Bypass".
Works great.
Thanks mate, that looks like a good solution.
Can I install Xposed on stock ROM, without having to flash or anything though? I want to keep my phone stock.. I can't really figure out the answer to this question from the FAQ and General Info pages..
Cheers

Hi Rosli,
Unfortunately it looks as though CF AUto Root is having some issues with 4.3 SM-N9005 so doesn't look like I can root it. I tried to update my phone and it says there are no updates available - I don't think 4.4 is offered to Australia.
Is there another way to root the phone?
Cheers

I believe you have managed to get your phone rooted as I saw someone replied your post in CF Autoroot thread.
Else just try towelroot

Rooted Verizon phone is messed up

I had issues so I tried various things and have no luck. I had a rooted S5 on lollipop and now I have actually broke the phone part and unable to make calls. What I want to do is find a way to keep the constant message "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped. I have done a factory reset and lost everything. no biggie but I would like to get my phone back and still keep root. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I was told I would get more replies in this forum but so far nothing.. I am desperate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe if posted in the Questions and answers section...that section gets more traffic
I did first
Just tried Towelroot but I am unable to connect to the internet at all with my phone.
sounds like you may need to load a factory firmware with PIT file using ODIN.
OK where is that located?
I have odin 3.9
sammobile dot com / firmwares
find your model (G900V) and download latest firmware to flash. Looks like BOE1 was added last week.
You may want to try an older 4.4.2 rom, but it is my understanding that Verizon has a locked bootloader, and you can't downgrade once you already have 5.0 on your phone.
Thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am back to normal again. Appreciate it very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK I lost root, what do I install now running lollipop
I have searched for many hours and haven't found anything. If anyoone has a process that works on 900V verizon S5, please let me know the process. (and i just bought Titanium backup). ugggg .. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Isn't there a way to go back to a previous version then back to lollipop as I did have root on lollipop before I screwed up my phone?

Advice needed on updating Samsung S5 from 4.4.2 to 5.1 whilst keeping Foxfi and Root

Hi everyone,
Looking for some help on updating my Samsung S5 to the latest Verizon update which looks to be LRX21T.G900VVRU2BOK3. I have found a lot of conflicting information on updates so first hand experience would be great. I need to keep foxfi working as I have unlimited data and the phone is rooted with towelroot. Details are
Verizon Samsung S5
Android Verion 4.4.2
Model Number SM-G900V
Baseband G900VVRU1ANCG
Kernel Version 3.4.0
Build Number KOT49H.G900VVRU1ANCG
Looks like Foxfi is supported on Android 5.1 but does anyone have first hand experience? I would also like to keep root if possible. I currently have Titanium Backup and SDM frozen, would it be best to take the over air update? Lastly anybody have bad experiences with the LRX21T.G900VVRU2BOK3 update?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
dont know if bok6 version will work on your g900v. but the battery life is awesome.

That's good to know Salcykhan Yep BOK6 is the verizon update and G900V is the Verizon S5 variant.
Then install this version and root it and remove all s5 crappy app.
Plus add very few mod which make phone little sexy

Hey Keypepper,
I'm in the exact same boat as you and would love any insight you may have--if you decided to pull the trigger on un-freezing (thawing?) SDM to grab the OTA update. Root would be great to keep, but I'm pretty sure that's no longer possible in the same fashion beyond 4.4.2. Hence the massive push back to this version and utilizing the ease of towelroot. Either way, if you can pass on any add'l perspective you have, I'd appreciate it.

Hey wlhovde,
I decided to apply the Samsung policy update to keep it more secure. This did not break root.
I'll probably will add the latest kitkat version when I get the S7 or when my contract expires.
For reference.....even if prior rooting hasn't broken OTA updating (it probably has) and the OTA downloaded, installing it WILL break root......

Hate to revive this thread, but I am in the same boat and my main concern is just patching the stage fright vulnerbility so I can have my MMS back.
You can adjust the settings in messaging so that attachments aren't automatically opened. That will help.....

Ah....I must have missed that part about Web videos.....mind you I don't use my phone for watching videos......My laptop has a larger screen lol.
About updating and keeping root....There are 2 ways I know of....it just depends whether you want to keep knox intact or not.....
1) Use Flashfire (by Chainfire) to keep root while upgrading with knox remaining at 0x0.
2) Odin flash (or OTA) your upgrade....this will kill root but it can be re - obtained by flashing TWRP and SuperSU afterwards.....
This method will trip knox and WON'T work on devices with locked bootloaders.....so if you're running a Verizon or AT&T device, don't go there.....

AFAIK Xposed doesn't play nice with lollipop touchwiz......it's the installer itself which isn't compatible (I think)......
If I remember correctly, somebody has created a modified installer which I think is SDK specific.....but I can't remember where I saw it......

[Unmodified] Pre-rooted firmware for SM-G361F

Hi everyone,
Today I am posting this thread because of some idiots who are now sharing pre-rooted firmwares for SM-G361F that are full of bloats.
I am sick of that, this is why I upload the archive of the first pre-rooted firmware I got that was at least clean.
You can download it here: https://mega.nz/#!oqpRhZJZ!B18uTiB3TH-QfChoqjgWCNmaPjqInPZbFyI4u9-T8s4
Note: This firmware is ONLY for Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-G361F devices with AOG1 build.
Of course I don't own the firmware and I didn't root it, I just keep the right to upload it.

She seems like a woman to me.

Pre rooted
Hey,can you find SM-G361F pre rooted version for this device?
BaseBand G361FXXU1AQA1
Build number G361FXXU1AQD1
I can't find it anywhere
I love what you're doing. All other pre-rooted ROMS are full of trash. Could you make it for G361FXXU1APA3?
Hum... OK guys thanks for the love but I have to remember you something.
I am not a developer yet and truly not a ROM unbloater: I didn't "disinfect" the firmware, I just reuploaded it (well after a fast check, I found I've already prevented about that, just read the thread please...)
So no dudes I can't do that, sorry. I COULD eventually do that, removing bloats and extract system image to make a flashable shouldn't be as complicated, but I do not have time.
Sorry to disappoint you.
Hey Atronid, you rock! I have the AOL1 but intend to give it a try cause I already rooted it but it's full of bloast. Do you know if I can flash another pre-rooted firmware considering I did this already? could this be harmul? -brickful? )-

I don't think doing this will brick your device, but careful. Ensure the usal requirements are here (OEM unlock, USB debug just in case...) and you made a backup, also in case something goes wrong.
But if you're rooted you got plenty tools that can remove bloats from your device, but I hope you're not easily scared because once removed system may spam that the bloat you just uninstalled has stopped. You can get rid of that by just rebooting your phone.
So you don't need to reflash any firmware if you just want to clean your phone up.
Yes, you're right. The problem was that the apps I tried to remove other apps weren't the right ones, but now that's sorted thankfully On the other hand, as I couldn't find an Android 6 ROM for my phone (not even a sorry recovery.... ) in the end I set my mobile to install new apps on the sd card by default. Actually it works similarly to the app Link to SD, so a part of it is on the SD card and the rest (like the data it generates) in the device storage, despite all the tutorials sell this method as "Installation directly on your SD card". You need a computer and official Android development tools (SDK). In case it's of any interest for anyone I'll include the tutorial I followed, but it turns out I'm not allowed to post links yet, so the title of the article was Cómo instalar aplicaciones DIRECTAMENTE en la tarjeta SD from androidjefe website. In English, How to: Force Android to automatically install apps to SD card from softonic website
I hope it helps

Read first post. I don't think it will work if you have a build other than AOG1.
And you should not use TWRP to flash like this. Use Odin and Download mode instead.
Will this rooted firmware work with my SM-G361F phone? Need advice...
Hi there,
Will this rooted version work with my phone?
I'm new here and need some help and advice re Rooting this Samsung phone SM-G361F - I'M NO TECHIE but have ability to following instructions and make connections etc. My phone details are below.
Baseband G361FXXU1ASC1
Build LMY48B.G361FXXU1AQD1
Patch level is 2017-4-01
Security software version ASKS 1.2_161011
I did once try rooting a Samsung tablet using Odin and it all worked OK, but that was a while ago.
How important is it to get the identical build or baseband? Anything else I need to check?
I was trying initially trying to change the phone's MAC address, as I was experimenting with the phone, however I could not use an App to do this as it stated phone that the phone needs Rooting first for App to work. Also tried Terminal Emulator app but it kept failing to work as I was probably, unable to input the text commands required correctly.
I hope someone can please help and advise me on this.
M
Kind regards
