Hey,
I was wondering if there's an Xposed mod or an app which let you change the Google app that you can open from the Task Manager (on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3, but probably applicable to other phones).
I'm looking for eather to remove it, or change it so it opens up another app.
I've googled and searched on XDA, but I'm probably using the wrong keywords.
Thanks!

Having a problem last two days with vzw home page overriding browser/google settings and then forcing searches through Bing. Search starts in google to about 50% then loads the vzw page breifly before ending in Bing. I am on a debinged device and it wasnt a problem for the week before on the same rom.
Is it possible a market app swapped something and where might I look to find it ? No matter what I reset in the browser seetings or clear, the behavior returns.

A search on debinged browser will help you find answers. If you are rooted you will have more options. But there are things you can do to minimize the influence if bing searches without being root.
One solution that I used was to replace browser.apk with the one from the Samsung Mesmerize which is the Canadian version of the Fascinate which doesn't use Bing
There is another file that will give you google search on a short press of the search key. But not google voice search with a long press. To get Google Voice Search you can install Vlingo (a nice voice recognition application with lots of features)
Another option is to use a different browser like Dolphin (I like Dolphin Mini) and set your home page to Google.
For a google search widget you can install LauncherPro.
Lots of ways to go. Searching will help you find details.
Thanks for the reply, but maybe I wasnt clear. I am fully rooted, running an eb01DB_DXC.tar with eb01 lockscreen mods, some swapped touchwiz and buddies .apks and other minor mods. Google voice search is disabled and everything is set properly settings wise.
The search function worked properly for a week, but something has changed to create this new behavior. I already tried Skyfire as well.
I understand the need to search and I do quite a bit. I just cant find a reason why behavior would change when there is no apparent reason to based on the device config.
Alright so first off, I'm using Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition).
2nd The pre installed Evernote app is apparently on my tablet, but it's no where to be found in the apps section.
As far as I can tell thus far is that the only way to access the app is to go into Samsung Apps search for Evernote, and there it is ready to be open and used. But convenience wise that's a bit annoying. Is there a simple way to find and use this app I don't know of?
I would just uninstall the app and reinstall with hopes of it being in the apps section, but as far as I can tell I can't delete an app I can't see.
Look in the "galaxy plus" folder
In the app drawer is a folder titled "galaxy plus" the evernote app icon is in that folder.
I must be blind, because I cannot find the galaxy app store icon in the drawer. I see the one on the desktop, but if that gets deleted, where do I find the store?
Thanks,
Jim

Nope, not in application manager, either. This is a Verizon Note 4.
I have widgets for it, maybe there is no app specifically in the drawer?
I'm on AT&T and didn't have a Samsung Galaxy Store icon or app until I downloaded & installed it. IIRC I got it from Samsung's website. I was thinking I got it from the Play Store but I checked and it's not there.
So strange
If you have galaxy widget gift it mean you have that app.
Almost all galaxy device have galaxy app as a default app

I have that widget but I didn't realize it included the Galaxy App Store, really I don't think it did, maybe it gives you access to download & install it. I only looked at once before I removed it from my screen but I'm thinking when I downloaded it & installed it from Samsung's website if I already had it installed it would not have installed a second time. Installing it was one of the first things I did because I wanted to install Here Beta maps.
If you have a Samsung folder, it's probably in there. Another reason why I use Nova Launcher.

Ok so you have to manual install from samsung website to use that app
I love S-Finder feature of touchwiz lollipop. But i don't like touchwiz... So I'm using CM12.1 by frapeti on my i9500.
I don't find any other phone search app as efficient as S-Finder. Because i guess it is contextual search (search within apps). It gives results of deepest links of almost any app installed on ur phone.
Like search for some text in a note saved in the Evernote app.. And also search for artist in google play..
Also search for some files in ES file manager.. Then search for tickets booked in bookmyshow app..
Im very much addicted to this functionality but then i now switched to CM12.1. Even google now cant search for the deepest links...
It cant get me the results from Evernote like 3rd party apps.
If not 'S-Finder', atleast any other alternative to it if anybody has been using??
I'm in dire need of it...
Thank you..
Porting Samsung features to an AOSP ROM will never happen. The features rely on changes made to framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk and those changes are both too extensive and undocumented to port.
If you're looking for an alternative and don't want to use Google Now, search for Microsoft Cortana and try it. Personally, I prefer Google Now.
Hey Devs,
This is probably a very difficult thing to do in an Android device.
Is there any possible way to hide apps system-wide, like no other application should be able to search the app that's hidden?
My main purpose is to hide an app from the whole phone itself, so that even if somebody tries to search in the settings app, no traces should be found.
Please don't ask me to uninstall the app lol.:silly:
Also, my device is ROOTED :fingers-crossed:
