Hello all I just recently purchased a Galaxy Note 4 and I'm trying to install lollipop via ODIN but it keeps failing I think partly because the bootloader shows up as N910T when the phone model is actually N910F european model that was bought in the UK obviously the phoned has been tampered with in the past and I would like to change the bootloader and baseband which are both N910T to N910F however the CSC shows up as N910FXXU1ANK4 i don't understand this?. Bootloader version is N910TUVU1ANJ7? the phone thinks it is the US T-Mobile Variant im guessing somebody screwed it up in the past? anyhow I need to be able to flash N910F 5.1.1 Lollipop to the phone but it always results in FAIL!(Auth) in Odin v3.0.9 .

Try Flashing a stock N910F Kitkat firmware first.
Can you confirm the phone is actually N910F by removing the battery and checking the label?
Of if you are rooted install Samsung Phone Info app from the Google Playstore which might give more insight.

Hi it says n910f under the battery and the phone box says n910f,however Samsung info app says model n910f and bootloader n910t I have flashed 5.01 n910t to the phone and it worked however I have t-mobile bloat ware which I don't want. Is there a way to get everything to be n910f as my UK carrier works on this phone surely it cannot be a US T-mobile variant?

It can be possible, If the device is carrier unlocked the phone still contains some bands which work here in the UK, only Verizon and At&t are less likely to work. My bet is that the previous owner flashed a stock N910F based ROM on-top of a N910T variant. The best you can do is install a de-bloated ROM or remove the apps yourself.
N910F with N910P (boatloader)

I have the same problem but, I bought the device as new and box sealed everywhere is written 910F and was loaded with N910FXXU1COH4 and I decided to flash the new firmware N910FXXU1COJ3 now I'm stuck at bootloop.
Note: I consider my self a semi-expert but this situation is totally weird.
sorry for necroing this post but i have the same issue with my note 4..
says n910f everywhere (everywhere in the s/w and also on the sticker) but the bootloader is n910t..
all attempts to flash any n910f bootloaders/baseband/stock rom using odin results in emmc write error on aboot.
so is my device a fake n910f ?? (because the sticker says n910f while the phone is n910t bootloader)
or can i switch back to n910f bootloader somehow..

Your phone is masked with n910f but reality is you got n910t t.mobile note 4 and sadly you cannot convert to n910f.
Sticker is faked you have refurbished device.
Its very easy to fake any device even i can do it with root
You will also notice your knox is 0x1 when you go to download mode so it means that someone use root to fake entire device.
Return it now if you bought new with warranty.

Hey Trex, thanks for the reply..
yea it seems like it's a referb but i bought it used for a really good price and everything works with it.
It was such a headache the first day i got it trying to flash anything using odin and nothing worked because i kept downloading and flashing n910f files, I have a lot of experience with rooting/roms but this is the first time i actually didn't know what to do, until hours later when i noticed that in the bootloader it says n910T not F and then everything was good from there.
I won't be returning it as the n910t accepts the same roms as the n910f/g with datafix (i'm using aurora 3.1 for n910f with datafix and it's working perfectly), also the unit i got is like new with 0 scratches and with everything working great so there's that too..

The same thing happened to me 3 days ago, mine was a N910S flashed as a N910F. You're a bit more lucky than i was because the N910T is actually the same snapdragon variant as the N910F. I think the whole hardware parts might be identical. How is the battery life? Any battery drain issue? How much on screen-on-time do you get?

I have n910s also with n910c marshmallow rom and works good
I got screen on time about 4 hours
In my opinion n910s better then n910t/f because n910s/c comes with exynos octa 8core 64 bit processor but sadly no good roms available for n910s but if you use stock it works just good as n910c.
Ram management and games lot smoother and also no heating issues at all unlike snapdragon variants.

The one i had was seriously heating up
If you are using low class micro sdcard and battery that can also cause heating issues cuz apps struggle to run and processor need to run at higest frequency.
Do factory reset and try phone without micro sdcard and use for 1 or 2 days
And try another battery if you can.

Your device is n910t and faked with n910f.
Download link for latest marshmallow firmware below
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=385035244224395816
Extract and Flash this firmware using odin.
It will not sim lock your device but your phone will be completely n910t and there will be no many languages.i suggest if lollipop is working fine with you then don't update.there is nothing new in marshmallow and it will make your device slower then lollipop.
Thanks a lot tex888 ,,so what i understand the only bootloader that i can install is the Tvariant.
If i nstall a custom recovery can i install a custom rom fr language without problem.
if no i will keep my 5.0.1 with french language
Hello Everyone I understand that this would have been better posted at the Roms and development Forum but it would not let me post because of some anti-spam thing. Anyways I was told that I could Cross flash the g935U rom on any variant of the S7 edge so I tried to install it the same way I installed the Stock Sprint G935P firmware. When I was flashing the flash stopped and locked up. The phone has a error on the screen saying SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 5 > Binary 2. Any help would be appreciated. Attached is a picture of the screen and the Odin Logs.

Ran into the same problem. It seems Sprint decided to switch to binary 5 on the QL1 firmware while the rest of the carriers didn't and stayed on 4. I have been looking all over for a way to root my SM-G935P on QL1 firmware and have found nothing. Looks like we're SOL for now thanks to Sprint.
So We Need To Wait For The Android Oreo Update or just wait for G930U To Update The Firmware

You rooted SM-G935P on G935PVPU5BQL1 firmware? If so ...... Yes please show me the way. Been trying to figure it out for quite sometime.
can you downgrade to the previous versions of marshmallow and them rom over to 935u?
you will have to find the previous boot loader file and flash all 4 together for it to work.
just a guess. ill do some research.

Was going to do the same thing after getting a good deal on a pre-owned s7edge from BoostMobile. I had no problem getting the sim unlocked for MintSim(MVNO-Tmobile), and it seemingly works fine after setting APN settings. I'd prefer to not have the g935p firmware. I'm assuming if I can somehow switch to g935u I'll be able to use it more comfortably for both verizon pre pay and MintSim? If there is a way to downgrade to the binary 4, I'd like to know as well. As far as I know I'm still able to use Samsung Pay, so I'd like to keep that option open.
Only thing we can hope for as of right now is that the oreo update is binary 5 on the U firmware. But I dont see that happening. Think thats a new exclusive for sprint to keep people tied down. Hopefully im wrong....
On a more positive note, the bootloader binary has been updated across carriers with every major os upgrade.

I think the same. Sellers were selling S7 and S7 Edge models with U firmware for international use, no sprint apps, logo or restrictions and maybe sprint was losing customers and they decided to update the binary to avoid this situation. Really I prefer the U firmware instead Sprint or Verizon stock rom

On the Oreo update? I havent even checked.
Hasn't been released yet, but it has happened from MM to Nougat. Just speculating that it will happen when Oreo drops.
Hey guys, just looking for some opinions here on whether or not people think it's worth it to root the s7 Edge right now. I just picked one up and it has MM and binary 4 on it, so I figure I need to decide if I want to root it before taking any updates. Does the official oreo seem decent? Is there any way to make touchwiz feel less touchwiz-y without root? Thanks!
I would advise to not update to any build after october 2017 if you plan on switching between carriers other than sprint as sprint is the only carrier to have updated the bootloader to 5 and many seem to believe the others won't. rooting is possible either way.
Thanks, so downgrading the bootloader is not possible once it's been updated even with root? I see on sammobile that there are several 935U firmware versions for sprint that are 7.0 but have binary 4, are these viable options? I do have a gear S3 so i would like to not lose samsung pay/S-Health, that still happens when rooted right?

Correct, once you update to any G935P firmware QJ3 or above you will be stuck unable to install any other firmware and unable to downgrade whatsoever, even with root...Trust me i'm stuck in this particular issue atm as I obtained this parts phone with the sprint motherboard that had QJ3 firmware with the bootloader 5 on it and now am unable to use it on my verizon account leaving me with having to obtain another motherboard. the 935U firmwares are completely viable options, they are just debloated and come without carrier modifications, If you need any assistance with anyting further i'd be glad to help, i don't proclaim to be a pro, but after months of research and trails on the G935P I've learned quite a bit on the do's and don'ts lol.
You are awesome, thank you! Are the roms posted in the general s7 edge section working for the sprint variant? The specific forum for the G935P is very dead. Im just weighing pros and cons of rooting, if there are good roms that improve performance and battery life available and magisk is working I think it'd be worth it to root for me

I would look more into the roms listed under verizon and at&t variants of the S7E, they are more active and most roms are made with multi-carrier support...they will say in the installation guides, but the ones listed in the general forums are mainly for the international versions if i'm not mistaken.
Also, check the forums for the S7 Flat version as they seem to be more active and most of the guides/roms apply to both variants, also confirm that in their respective guides.
I just checked for updates on my SMG930P today and it looks as if Sprint is now binary 6!? Hopefully this is a hint that the rest are moving to binary 5 for Oreo. I'm going to wait on this update just in case. G930PVPU6BRD2 is the latest update that just popped up for me.
I just wanted to verify if I flash G935UUEU4BRD1 Firmware I will still be on binary 4 which will allow me to switch carries and achieve root? Is sammobile the only reputable resource for these firmwares? Seems like they charge a bit much. Thanks guys
Hello folks,
recently my uncle bought a Galaxy S7 Edge G935A via ebay. Since we live in Germany I was sure to get a G935F firmware on it. Well it seems that I'm wrong.
First I downloaded G935F 8.0 and tried to flash with Odin but it failed with 256SHA failure. Afterwards I found out about the Prince Comsy Odin to "bypass" this error. Well, luckly, I haven't updated it.
After reading further this might be a At&T device and that At&T branded phones are only updated via at&t itself so to try out with the bypass might have bricked the phone. (the distributor seems to be placed in China but he is not answering anything anymore) ,
Then I found this one Teamdroid Oreo for G935A and read the article thoroughly. The pictures clearly show a baseband of XXX UCU4CRE4 while mine shows G935AUCS4BQC2.
Right now Im on security patch from march 1st 2017. The device itself and smart switch says it is up to date.
So my question now. What to do? Can I just flash the G935F onto the device with the Prince Comsy Odin, or can I flash the UCU4CRE4, or am I just unlucky and we have to take the bite and leave the device as it is?
Thanks in advance
//E: out of curiousity: Why is there no such device as G935A listed @ sammobile site?
//E2: so I tried to flash the UCU4CRE4 with "normal" odin and I'm receiving the error emmc_appsboot.mbn.lz4 failed and on device it says unsupported dev_type ---> issue fixed with newest Odin (13.1) --> flashed it successfully...maybe it helps somebody
The G935A is a snapdragon variant, therefore G935F firmware would never work because the G935F is the exynos variant. They have different hardware and are fundamentally different.
It looks like you were able to get upgraded to Oreo (CRE4), that's great! you should be set as long as everything is working right. You won't ever get OTA updates though, AT&T devices must have an AT&T SIM card installed in order to recieve them. If I was you I'd just check back here on XDA for updates every few months.
If you don't want the AT&T firmware at all, you could flash the G935U firmware instead, which is the unlocked firmware for the USA Snapdragon variant. It's easy if you use the princecomsy Odin. Not sure if the unlocked variant has Oreo yet, though, so you may be better off just sticking with what you've got.
Hello,
I'm new to this whole root business, and I wanted to try it out on my wife's old Galaxy S7. I followed a guide on tenorshare.com.
When I tried to root the phone, I got an error that said "Odin version protocol error." So then I downloaded a different version of odin and then I made it past the first error, but then got one that said "Fail! SHA256 is Invalid". I've been looking around and can't find any clear answer. The phone is a Galaxy S7 on AT&T, running Oreo. It is model number G-930A.
Just wondering if anyone can help. I'd really like to try out a rooted phone, but it's proving harder to achieve than I thought. Thanks in advance!
Well if you have a regular S7, you're on the wrong forum. This one is for the S7 Edge AT&T models.
Here's where you need to be posting at for your phone.

Sir, it means that your baseband doesn't have that kind of firmware.
