hey all
ive read that many people had problems with their battery lives since the update to nougat. i installed one custom rom (RR) on nougat on my nexus 6p but then due to the inexistence of xposed framework decided to downgrade to marshmallow again (same rom RR). my problem is that ever since i did that, my battery life even on MM is severely bad (as soon as unplugged from charger, battery starts to drain, even after a clean flash, and moreover when phone reaches 15%-10%, phone turns off on its own with battery dead notification)
am just wondering if any nougat residue files still exist somewhere that i can just get rid off somehow though i wiped device fully(including internal)
and if not, what other options do i have? am suffering with the battery life, big time
thanks

There is nothing left over after a wipe and flash
Make sure battery saver auto shutdown is off.
It may take a day or two for the battery to be normal after a flash.
Charge to 100% the let the battery drain o shut down.

I've done this process 2months ago now. And still no adjustment
Just stay on nougat, just make sure you get a good rom like Chads uber and faster angler kernel.
Download a battery calibration app from the store. One that uses root. That fixed the early shutdown problem for me.

I did that. Didn't help. This issue is driving me crazy. And when i check battery health using some battery app, it says good. Healthy battery. Am using elemental x kernel with ex kernel manager. Doesn't really change anything than when on stock kernel

What do you even get with xposed though? I know there's amplify but there's something called wakeblock on nougat which is very similar. It only works on stock rom or custom but you'd have to integrate the patch file with git into the custom ROM which includes making a build of Android through linux in terminal.

Your problem could be the phone. If you still have warranty I'd recommend trying to rma it

Huawei are bsing you and are obviously too greedy with money to give you a replacement. With the app mods you can basically get the same stuff anyway with modified apks. There's an easy way to get youtube adaway and background playback through modified apks and lucky Patcher and there's apps like instagram++ What's the messenger mod?

None of that seems worth staying on marshmallow. That mod doesn't even seem useful and I'm sure there's a modified apk that can do that without xposed.

Nougat is great there's modified apks for basically any xposed mod and xposed will be out eventually and I know it will probably be hard to leave it but I have forgotten about it. The custom ROM and kernel I use get me 6-7 hours sot too and because apps install with jit they install quicker. There are also other benefits like speed performance, layout like settings and custom ROMs aren't really supporting marshmallow anymore for nexus 6p and there's other things too like more mods like Google Assistant is as simple as flashing a zip or changing and adding to the build.prop etc etc
Here's the screenshots you asked for in pm
I've got 7.1.1
But battery still dies fast as soon as off the charge. Am using RR latest build and kernvatore kernel. Also at 20% dies suddenly. Did the battery calibration as well
I too love me some xposed modules! I've been on Nougat since the initial release so I've been missing xposed for quite sometime. I have faith that xposed will be released for N eventually...
As far as battery on nougat, I was able to make it a little better by turning off all my sync settings from google. I also installed better battery stats and came to find out that Facebook and its messenger app never like to go to sleep and drained the hell out of my battery. Greenify app fixed that issue for me.

Hey Everyone
I downloaded the latest Nougat Firmware (France Version) for my SM-G928F
I did a clean Nougat install with Odin (after I wiped everything) and after that I flashed the TWRP Recovery with SuperSU. Now I have experienced that the battery life is really bad, it's like the deep sleep bug I had with 6.0.1. a year ago....
Here's a screenshot of the battery history
https://www2.pic-upload.de/img/33267464/Screenshot_20170602-012352.png
Is there any solution for this issue?
Same for me, on stock with no root i have a bug with deep sleep, i have lost about 10 % in less than 4 hours of deep sleep but idk why. Using XEF Rom too...
You need a kernel that fixes deep sleep issue. I recommended dr ketan nougat rom + kernel it comes with or khongloi rom. Both are polished nougat roms that have extra features with the S8+ port.
If you dont wanna flash a custom rom just flash an arter97 kernel or a khongloi Vx kernel.
I'll try out another stock rom from my country since it's finally released now. But I'm sure the bug does appear again. I really don't like custom kernel or roms, only if there's no other way... Maybe I go back to 6.0.1. Stock, had no issues there with Custom Recovery and Root.

All samsung phones have it. Its just sometimes due to irregular movement the OIS module gets jammed and has trouble trying to stabilise the picture. It usually only happens ever so often.

Guys, Do you have problems with Charging? After nougat even wen WIPED phone etc. I have problem witch car charger.
With WALL CHARGER on fast charge i can use my phone normally and i can see how fast it charges. In car if i am using Maps it charges verry slowly, sometimes even discharging. With MM it was charging Fast. in 30mins 10% with maps turned on was normal, now it can charge 1-2% or even dicharge 1-2%... Tested Few chargers, original and not;....
Same here. My battery is not very good after update.
Same here. Sh*t Samsung - not enough 1 year delay spreading firmwares when there's a new one already presented and only 18 months firmware guaranteed, there are always more problems and bugs. This battery drain is a problem or bug each time become worst! I think Samsung, never more - or a lot cheaper chinese who are the same or better and not so fragile (like new htc, xiaomi and so on) or iPhone that we've always new firmwares just in time at for, at least, 4 years guaranteed.
I'm pissed off with this sh*t Samsung...

I recently did a clean wipe and reinstalled all my apps while only restoring Google authenticator and wifi passwords with titanium backup. I'm rooted with Magisk. I bought my Axon7 quite exactly one year ago. Have I fried my battery?

No, not really... I mean I can set a power profile, but that doesn't really do much.
I have to confirm that again, but if I turn on Airplane mode, my battery is a beast. I think there's some sort of drain coming from the kernel or something

You could try flashing a different modem for your model.
Maybe an app or two also keeping it awake and trying for a network? Not getting a deep sleep in doze.
Stock ROM has power manager and I suspect that is the only reason I get a day from mine.
If you're still suffering I suggest you go back to stock or reflash properly as in step by step and make sure nothing has gone wrong.

Where would I get that? I believe a friend helped me flash one a few weeks ago, but I don't remember where it was from. (I've had the issue before too, though)
I get this too. Absolutely horrible battery life. Well this started happening after I flashed the B32 bootstack and stock system to fix my camera issues. At first I thought it was the stock rom but I flashed candyrom and the llama sweet kernel EAS version and I still get it. I do think it's the phone signal but I'm not sure yet. I used to drop to 98% in about 10-20 minutes with WiFi on and screen on. Now I lose 10% in that time. I went from 98% (it doesn't even want to fill charge anymore but I think it's the kernel) to 92 in 10 minutes.

I feel you... I really hope it's just basically a software issue... If you have any solution, please, please update me and the others here - i just flashed the kernel that got recommended to me and I'll try if it makes things better. Otherwise I'll wait for Oreo, I guess...
I'm not even that sensible to bad battery life in phones because i always carry a powerbank, but if the phone barely makes it to work in the morning and I have to recharge it at work at 25% or so, it gets a little annoying ^^

True that...I don't believe it to be the battery. It could be software. I noticed that my battery usage spikes up to 1140+ mAh and stablizes at 460 mAh which is way too much. I remember only getting up to 430+ in worst cases and stabilizes at 200-300+
Here's what my battery usage looks like:

Fullstock is how I got into this mess i think, since this started happening as soon as I flashed B25 bootstack and stocksystem. But the new baseband, I'll try that and see how it goes. However that's B25, we're on B32 so hopefully someone posts the new modem. I have not tried flashing an older bootstack as I somehow doubt that will fix it. Granted, i noticed my battery life starting to wear while I was on an older bootstack while on DARK rom.

Hello guys. I know that this is a very common question not just in OnePlus 2 forum. I read some posts of this, tried, but no success. So far I've tried couple of ROMs but battery life is so disappointing. Best shot was RR ROM 8.1 official with BB kernel installed. After system and kernel installed, I've done a wipe of data. I wanted to make sure there is nothing except system on my phone. After that, all necessary apps I use. That was operating very good in few days. But recently, out of nowhere, battery life is awful! Over the night, with no use and battery saver turned on, I loose more than 20%! I know that I haven't downloaded any additional apps after first days of installation, I haven't changed any settings since first day... I added fingerprint lock 2 days ago and yesterday I turned it off. So What is going on??? Phone is not overheating, seems like there is nothing in the background running to drain battery.
If you know what could cause the problem, it would be very helpful. But I'm also opened for installing a new ROM, kernel...
Who is here with good battery life? Gimme some advice! Btw, I don't care if it's N or O, or anything as long as it's operating well, reliable and no bugs. Thanks!
That's probably a battery issue, install AccuBattery then see how much health your battery have(requires few charges).

I reached (haters gonnah hate) best battery life on lineage 13 with boeffla kernel (zanezam's uber builds, use some battery safe profile from profile thread or make your own), amplify, greenify (optimized accordingly to the corresponding thread, with xposed) and NO GAPPS. Get about 3 days with SOT of 2-4h or a sot of 6-9h on 1 day (on an old oneplus2, no gaming). You can also use dualbootpatcher and a second, battery optimized (but lagging) ROM so you can switch when you can't charge your phone for a longer period of time.

Forget everything with dualboot patcher, you would probably mess up your phone.
For everything else, use xda search. Seriously, you only have to type the apps i suggested 1:1 into the adress bar and you will find it! If you are too lazy for this, unroot and go back to stock.... seriously...
Edit:
Yes, i'm using this now (lineageos13) with a self compiled boeffla kernel (uber 8, camera focus fixed on 6.0.1 roms), greenify, amplify (own build), xposed (needed for amplify, greenify works better with it) and no GAPPS (= google apps--> no playstore, youtube, etc--> draining battery as hell, idk what they are always doing in the background...)
My boeffla profile: 3 cores 1250mhz max, big cores disabled, battery extreme governor, system and my apps (whatsapp, telegram, 9gag, browser) work fluently (they start up a very little bit slower than before).
Battery profile is same but with 2 cores 675mhz, still only few microlaggs (you have to disable all animations in developer settings), internet browser is slow (use a lightweight browser, such as firefox focus) apps open up slower but aside from that the phone is usable. If you're interested in the kernel and my profiles, please tell me (you still have A LOT of work to do by yourself, such as setting up amplify and greenify, disabling (system) apps you don't need, adjusting everything for your needs, deny unnecessary permissions on app ops xposed, etc).

Results can vary. As someone who flashes way too many ROMs - its an addiction - I currently use crDroid Oreo as my daily. I also flashed the blue bolt kernel. This seems to give me good battery. I do have a rooted version of the stock ROM I flashed in twrp backup. Just in case. With crDroid also backed up I can move quickly from one to the other in about ten min without losing all my settings. It is a good idea to occasionally do a fresh backup of one or both since apps added or deleted or updated and any changes you've made since last backup will not be kept otherwise.

Do you know dualboot patcher (google it )? Very nice opportunity to have multiple roms installed on the device (which even share the data for specific apps--> u have all your wa chats from one rom on the other, directly after reboot). Wouldn't recommend for people who can not restore a backup over adb (unexpected things can happen, but way better than always saving and restoring a backup)...

If you don't mind for a worse looking screen quality, you can use terminal emulator (with root), do a backup in TWRP(ALL partitions!) then type (hit Enter after each line):
"su" (grant root if asked)
"wm size 720x1280" (for 720p, it looks about the same as 1080p, u can also use 480x854)
"wm density 300" (200 for 480x854)
Then u can lower your cpu frequencies until it lags. (and disable system animations, my phone works fine at 480p with 2 cores at 768mhz max freq) will post sot/running time (without charging) when i have the time to test.

I really love the work everyone is doing here on XDA.
I just need some help from you guys.
I'm facing battery drain while screen is off in every single ROM (PE, Havoc OS, MIUI).
i think my battery life is good while i'm using my phone but whenever i put it down, it starts eating batter like hell (almost 10% in 1 hour).
Please anybody help me, i'm really frustrated by this issue.

I am facing the same issue. Using AEX rom latest version atm. Really like the rom but the battery drain is high when the phone is ideal.. Drops from 40-0 overnight without any use. Even after everything including wifi and data is off

Cannot agree with above. My AEX (by Woivod) in deep sleep most of the time if unused, 1% battery over night in airplane mode . Check your device 's battery or installed apps.

I will surely give the battery a checkup Though I highly doubt it since the problem started after I updated to treble rom a week back.

I will roll back to RR .
Flash Magisk then install Greenify Module from Magisk and install Naptime. I'm sure this would help. If it doesn't I got some settings in kernel Adiutor from Game of Roms YouTube Channel.

Already tried Greenify & Naptime buddy.
Again installed Naptime.
I'm on Havoc OS with stock kernel.
Suggest best kernel settings.

I sure hope you have solved your issue .If not, then these were the steps that solved it for me.
After trying all types of calibration apps, I went ahead and Flashed the Latest Miui9 Global Build for Redmi 3s and suddenly my issue was solved. It was most probably a miscalibration from all the flashing which was causing the intense drain.
Attached Some screenshots of my present battery usage

I Strongly suggest to get it checked then. My Note4 battery had swelled up and it ended up breaking my screen from the inside.
(Back panel had 0 budge as it is a metal panel)
So a Rs1000 repair turned a lot expensive.
Guys try msm xtended rom with chimera kernel and do some changes in setting definitely there is no idle drain over the ni8
 I fall in love with this rom:laugh:

I have set the CPU governor on stock kernel of Havoc OS to conservative and my idle battery drain is 1 or 2% overnight.

I tried many different ROM's, but only Resurrection Remix and crDroid Android give good battery life on their's stock kernels without greenify and etc. !
Try havoc os pie version, it gives me around 7-9 hours of SOT. AND that too without any app like greenify.
Hey!
I got my stock OP5 updated into Android Pie last January 26, 2019. After receiving the update and updating it, I seem to notice that the battery drains faster. Anyone experiencing similar?
I honestly haven't but I ended up doing a full wipe attempting to fix a problem that was actually hardware related. Have you tried clearing all cache in recovery?

No, not yet. Also, I can't do it right now since I have lot of files and important apps. I will let you know if I do it.
Here is an update on my battery status.
When you get the chance, I suggest you do a backup and do a full wipe. Stuff like this is rather common when you do a upgrade of the OS and this is why everyone here recommend a clean install when it comes to major updates.

Clearing just the cache (not data) won't lose any of your files. I don't think you lose anything really if I remember right. It may not fix the problem but it can't hurt to try. It should probably be done every now and then anyway.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Haven't really tried your suggestions yet since I am really busy these days.
Here is an update. My status is improving.
What happened was my battery was totally drained, 0 and off.l, when I woke up. Then, I charged it to 100 then turned it on. After that, my battery became tolerable.
Hi
Can I suggest you to download the naptime app from PlayStore (by Francisco franco?). It's just about to open the app ,activate it ,go down and choose which apps you won't put on sleep like Gmail/ WhatsApp/ messenger or whatever you need always up. All the other processes will be putted to sleep. Francisco Franco is the king of this things . Don't need to be rooted. You can have a Go. Today after use it a lot,I still 33% left. Hope it's help as the op5 is still a so great phone but for business they need to put it down.
Battery drain after pie update
Hi I'm currently using oneplus 5. I'm facing battery drain issue. When i charge my phone to 100 percent it starts. Draining first 8 percent very quickly. Almost in 10 mins. And after that it works normally. I'm getting just 5-5:30 hrs of sot with moderate usage. Its quite frustrating. Kindly someone help me with this. I've cleared my cache but no luck with it.

If you are rooted. Install better battery stats and upload your summary, kernel wakelock, partial wakelock and alarms here. Do remember to keep better battery stats unoptimsed.
No I'm not. I'm on stock pie. Now what to do?

Under location. Find scanning and disable wifi and Bluetooth scanning if you haven't done that already. Disable Bluetooth, NFC, hotspot, location when you are not using them.

Look at these steps too. Do those if you can find them. Some may not be available maybe related to old android version
