Any idea why my APN Settings are grayed out (T-Mobile) and how can I "unlock" them?
Thanks.

You can't edit the default ones just create your own custom one exactly the same as default except with your changes...

Thanks for your response. Any idea why ZTE disabled it? You can edit APN in any other phone. I don't understand the logic.

No clue, logic not their strong suit

Thanks.
I can't find this on mine.
Then go to messaging, choose tools-mms settings, make sure the 'connect via' has the settings shown for the one you've just set up. Choose the servers tab and set it up as the one below

As I'm not in the US and I'm not with T-Mobile, I was posting a list of APN's. However, it's a Wiki and Wiki's are there to be edited when they need updating. Would you be able to be kind and click the 'edit' button and edit the post for T-Mobile US?

Apn is not working

My nexus one after root APN is not working. Any idea! Please help.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Do you use market enabler? When I set T-Mobile settings in market enabler, all the APN settings switches to T-Mobile. When I restore settings from Market enabler, or reboot my device, Everything goes back and my provider APN settings comes back (I am on Cyanogenmod, only need to choose correct default APN, since my provider has different packets with different access points and then it remains).

A little more info might be useful.
What provider are you on? What is your current APN set up? What ROM are you using (stock or otherwise)? What method did you use to root? As asked by dolphin777, do you have any apps installed that would impact the APN settings?
My issue was I had numbers in the apn when it should just be two lines. Cbw, wap.gocbw.com

I figured it was something silly like that. Glad you got it sorted.
And thanks for posting the solution

AT&T Samsung S3, change APN.

The APN seems locked down, I can't see anywhere to add or edit the APN. Anyone know how to edit or add an APN?

Configuring APN on Verizon S5

Hi There,
I have rooted verizon S5 with GV.
Just switched to use Hangout instead of GV for sms. SMSs are working fine, however, MMSs are not working. I can send, but can't receive. I was hoping to change APN, unfortunately, when I change APN in hangout, it is not get saved (except for if I change the port only) and I don't have an option to change APN in the phone settings. Create a new APN (a plus sign) is greyed out.
Please advise...

Huhmm, it seems the firmware has blocked the ability to edit or change the APN.
You may need to flash another unbrand firmware to bypass it.

Yeah, I've contacted both Verizon and Samsung and Samsung rep told me that they blocked the ability to change APN. The setting that I have now is the default one and can be changed by Samsung (or custom ROM).
Trying to get in touch with Google if they have plans to override firmware APN since they have APN configuration option in hangouts.

Send feedback to google hangouts, no response yet (usual for Google
However, found apn-conf.xml in /system/etc/ which has conf data for multiple situation (internet, roaming and etc.)
I've changed the original settings to apn type (removed dup and added mms) and port (port=80), however, when I try to change MCC and MNC to the settings provided by Verizon rep, APN fail and phone doesn't have any internet connection. The original settings are MCC=311 and MNC=480... Verizon (and a lot of sites on the internet) recommends to use MCC=310 and MNC=012

Regarding firmware: I feel a little skeptical about unbranded firmware. I'll have to remove all my configurations and it will void the warranty. Besides, I like Samsung dialer. In any case, what unbranded firmware would you recommend?

1- apn-conf.xml is a file used for auto configuration at the initial step. It will NOT actually affect your current APN settings.
2- Typically you should not manually modify the MCC-MNC parameter. If you want to do so, you need enter the proper value. To obtain the right MCC-MNC value for your network, install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, scroll down to the MISC INFO section and see "Mobile Network Code" info.

I found a new firmware from VZN (4.4.4). Do you know if my rooting will be broken after I upgrade to it?

There is an instruction how to update and keep root for Verizon Galaxy Note 3.
You can try it if you want. Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55518593&postcount=7
