Guys,
I need your urgent assistance .. I think I have bricked my phone and need assistance.. Basically I was running the Official ICS ROM which I got from XDA website it was the LQ2 kernel for the Galaxy Note.
Last night I custom flashed the Criskelo ICS v7 ROM but wasn't too happy and wanted to go back to stock ICS .. So I went into PC Odin and flashed the stock ICS Firmware.. upon booting I went into CWM (Volume up + home+power) did a factoy reset and cache, dalvik cache wipe.. Then reboot system.. The phone was stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note screen .. So I tried to Flash the Stock ICS LQ2 rom again via PC Odin and now it just hangs almost at 90% at factoryfs.img?
Am I completely messed up or is there a way to resolve this please can you guys assist me in what I must do.. I don't know if this is a soft or super brick..
Many Thanks..
PS: I even did the PIT file thing and still no joy
you custom flashed??
what do u mean u custom flashed??
Get a rom with bootloader in it. Don t use repartition. Make sure you flash the bootloader.
Sounds like you wiped from a stock Samsung kernel, which is a big no no. The only way to fix this is to repartition your phone with a .pit file that has been designed not to use the the corrupted sectors of your internal storage. If you search hard enough, you'll find a thread about it. I successfully recovered a phone I bricked way back with the first LP1 ICS kernel. It does work! You'll lose some space though.

And there's the thread I was talking about.

Yes I factory reset a STOCK ICS ROM .. please can you assist in what I need to do.. Which PIT file and which ROM Shall I try to flash with.. please assist.. Many thanks..
Thanks for your help guys .. followed the german dudes tutorial and downloaded the .PIT file and managed to re flash stock ICS .. Now the only issue is my internal memory is showing 8.24 GB.. what happened to the other approx 8GB? I thought the Note was 16GB? Before windows used to show it as 11GB but now showing 8.24 GB is there a fix for this or is the bad or do I have to live with it.. ?
read the whole tut again it tells you why since you have to move partition tables.
Yes...it's a rather small deal anyway...there are 64gb SD card after all.

My advice is "live with it". Coz what the "German dudes" pit files do is avoid the "locked" sectors in your internal card. While you can try different pit files or try create new partitions via adb -- you probably wont gain much.
Or you could send it to Sammy for a warranty claim, after resetting the flash counter and then bricking it again via odin using the original pit file. Basically what you need to do is erase all evidence that u tampered with it. This is a risky option... (You can tell them phone got messed up in kies upgrade). This happened to me (on an almost new note, so i kinda did the same, except that i went a step further and deleted the boot-loader as well = hard brick. However i dont recommend it). And they replaced the phone.
I emphasize again this is risky -- and do more research before if you do this.
Problem as of now is since you've modified the pit -- and also the phone is working, you cant claim now.

Thanks for your assitance bro.. I will live with it. .I don't mind loosing 3 gb .. Already got 32GB SD card so no issue. Just happy its all back up and running really.. Big thanks to the German brother you the man
Its Forest1971 who first wrote this workaround and it was hg42 who rewrote the pit file and it was Dr null who proposed this way, Its all XDA members who helped you out of this brick. Not some German sites. Google throws up German results first
I am not harsh by anyway saying this. Just want to write it as it happened.
Was witnessing all the issues.
I am writing a guide for Noobies for bricks. Guess I get some help ....

I actually followed his guide and repartioned manually and only lost about one Gbyte vs using the pit file and losing over 3 G bytes. Took a lot of trial and error though

hi! i was in the same state as you! now, listen very carefully. Now, all you have to do is to use another PC and run ordin. Everything should work fine! My note was soft-bricked yesterday night and i had tried endless counts of tries just to get it up and running. Just earlier today,I saw someone who posted a comment in a similar forum and suggested that you should try a different PC it worked. AND IT worked for me now, just use this pit file that i had upload and download any (G-N7000)stock firmware that has (code.md5, modem.md5 and csc.md5). just place the pit file in ordin. ( do note you will lose 3gb of your internal memory) and click start hopefully it worked for you

can you contact entropy before sending your unit to samsung??
entropy is looking, if im not mistaken, for a purely stock bricked note... kindly pm him

Not necessary to use the 3gb regain patch.
There's a 1gb or 2gb regain patch also. And it's enough.

Though so many ppl told u alrd, i just want to say, in any case, when u r in ICS alrd, it is totally prohibited to do factory reset through CWM with samsung ICS original kernel.
When u need to wipe or factory reset, make sure u r on a safe kernel like speedmod or notecore.
If u want to recover ur note, just use the pit file method. It works.
Make sure u use the correct patch of 16gb or 32gb, depends on ur note.
Always try from the smallest patch, so u won't loose so many storage.
Anyway, latest CriskeloROm with speedmod is the best for battery life nd performance.

I returned to stock using the usual method I've always used with LG_KDZ_FW-Update_OfflineFix (2) with the usual file KDZ never have problem only this time I found my G2 with half the memory, 32GB is like I have a G2 16GB. can someone give me a detailed guide with whom I can fix it or I have to take care subsume?
Thanks in advance.
Hi fote89,
Are you sure that you are using the 32gb kdz version?
If not then I suggest to download it. There's maybe a way to fix your storage without reflashing the 32gb kdz but I don't know how/I can't say its safe.

Hello all,
I had a galaxy note 3 (SM-N9005, 16GB Hong Kong Version) with last updated to KitKat(OTA). For the first time, i decided to take the risk of flashing the ROM manually and downloaded the Poland Lollypop Rom N9005XXUGBOA5_N9005XEOGBOA4_N9005XXUGBOA1_HOME.tar.md5 and flashed the phone using Odin with only Reset and Reboot flags checked. It failed at ext Image error.
After some reading i find out that HongKong have different partition structure and hence require to flash with a pit, i downloaded a pit file
(SM-N9005_HLTE_HKTW_OPEN_16G) from forums here and tried to re flash it with Reset, Reboot and Repartition flags and this time it stucks at error
PIT Fail : Total Sectors (38777344). I can now only boot up in download mode.
Can anyone let me know is there any chance, whether i can bring my phone back to life.

It sounds like you tried to reflash the HK PIT file - what you actually need is a PIT to suit the firmware you want to flash. If you use the HK pit you need to flash a HK ROM.
Also, make sure you actually pull the battery to get into Download mode. i.e. take out battery, wait 10 secs, then put it in and hold down the keys for DL mode. Restarts don't seem to work properly when flashing BL's and Modems so the physical method is needed.
Start by getting the latest HK version and see if Odin will flash it. THEN look at getting a EU pit file to go with BOA5.

I had a HK S3 and had similar problems. Not sure why Samsung makes them so different. I was new to Androids and thought I had trashed my new phone.
But it's a good way to learn - first you find out what has gone wrong and then how to fix it and before you know it, you are on your way to being flash-addicted.
Thank you
@Journyman16 Thank you very much :victory:, i got my phone up again with the hong kong firmware .... I was also looking for pit file for lollipop polland firmware, but didnt find anyone specific to 16gb note...
Can you direct me to some good resource from where i can go through tit bits of flashing? Particularly regarding this numbering system of Android basebands
As you mentioned, i like the whole incident(Learned something new) .... and dont want to gie up on getting lollipop :highfive:

Been a while since I looked at such things but search in Q&A as well as Android Development for things like 'root guide' or perhaps click on the Advanced Search button and look for 'guide' in post headings.
Also as you browse the subjects that interest you there are often links out to tutorials etc. - another reason for always reading a thread before posting.
Good luck on the journey...
Not trying to create a issue here and i am sorry if i break any forum rules since i don't really follow the forums very much.
I just need some help cause i think my phone is soft bricked . I don't know what caused the brick because one night i was watching a youtube video on " How to cook that" and then the next morning i wake up and my device doesn't start up .. Its stuck on the Samsung logo. Now before all the people comment on how i should do the recovery thing and all i just want to clarify that i cant get into the recovery option as well and i even tried flashing stock rom quadruple times but odin says PIT partation no found . Now I even tried the pit partation and downloaded the file but odin says reparation error . Now i have searched the internet all over before posting here so here are the list of things that i have already done and havent worked
1) Tried going to recovery
2) Tried flashing a recovery
3)Tried falshing stock rom ( PIT Error)
4) Tried flashing stock rom with the PIT file ( Re-partition error)
5) Used the new original cable for flashing ( I read somewhere that non-original cables tend to not work)
6) Used different ports in the pc ( same thing .. read some where that one port may not work)
7)Tried flashing through three different laptops
8) Used a software called " heimdalloneclick " still didnt work
9) And finally tried praying to god to fix my phone .. still didnt work.
and then i ended up opening a new thread to post my problem ..
now i bought this cellphone about a year and a half ago and was working just fine .. could this be a hardware issue ?? I dont know so please can some1 help me !! Much appreciated . Thank you
Model no SM-g900h
What PIT file did you use? Firmware files differ mainly in size of hidden partition, you may need to use other pit files, some has only 10MB space for hidden partition, some 50, some 100, and some firmware needs even 200MB space for hidden partition, but i couldnt find working PIT file for 200MB.
EDIT: didnt notice you have G900H sorry :/ still you can use program PIT MAGIC to enlarge hidden partition using your pit file
will try that and let u know how it went .. thanks for taking your time to reply . Much appreciated
Where is ather Pit file because I have a same problem?

Is your S5 the 32GB version?
If yes, I don't think we have a 32GB PIT file available, if it's the 16GB version, this is the correct PIT file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2794808&d=1402604385
But DO NOT flash that PIT if it is the 32GB version, or you could end up with a 16GB phone, permanently
Hi,
My poor N5 finally gave up the ghost this week, so after claiming on insurance and ending up with a Galaxy S5, I was faced with that horrible UI we all know as Touchwiz, so I journeyed into the arts of custom ROMs. The Samsung side is all new to me, I have only ever dealt with good old Fastboot before now.
After doing some research on XDA, I spent the best part of a few hours last night compiling the latest heimdall from Github as I know there have been issues pulling the device PIT file from the latest .ZIP release.
So after compiling I went ahead and flashed TWRP, then the older lollipop bootloader and modem, so as I could then flash CM13 (nightly build) (again, I believe there were support issues with CM13 and Marshmallow bootloader/modem, I got stuck in a boot loop for example after trying).
Finally, into TWRP I ventured and flashed the CM13 zip, and booted into my new, bloatless OS. Everything seemed perfect, and just as smooth as stock was on my trusty N5, if not smoother. The only issue was, I went into storage to find my internal storage total capacity was now 11gb, when I know for a fact it is a 32gb device! :crying::crying:
So, to the best of my knowledge, something has gone wrong with my PIT partitioning somewhere, perhaps someone could clarify this. I tried the usual format and re-flash, to no avail. I am rather concerned to go delving into flashing more PIT files, or modifying them without any knowledge whatsoever, as the last thing I want to do is hard brick my replacement phone! I have backed up data through TWRP, so I am willing to try anything you guys may be able to suggest.
I have both Odin and Heimdall in my arsenal, as well as PIT Magic, so am happy to give anything a try as I said. Maybe I don't need to go as far as this, and there is more I can check beforehand?
FYI, please see below a log from ADB shell of my partition table, I'm no use when it comes to terminal either, so do with this information what you will:
Code:
~ # ←[6ndf
df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
tmpfs 851836 20 851816 0% /dev
tmpfs 851836 24 851812 0% /tmp

/dev/block/mmcblk1p1 7757824 7720148 37676 100% /external_sd
Suggestions are very welcome, and thanks in advance for your help, it's much appreciated! Please help me revive this phone! :victory:

If you backed up your original PIT file, use ODIN 3.10.7 to flash it (.pit file in PIT section)
And if you do have that 32GB G900F PIT file, upload it and post the link here for others, as we do not have one for the 32GB variant yet

*sigh* Unfortunately, this is one thing I didn't do. Looks like I've learnt the hard way in this case!
What about manually editing a 16gb PIT file to contain the correct internal storage size? Is this a simple task?
With guidance, I am happy to post a working PIT.zip file if I can prove this potential method to work.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Not sure what you would use to edit it, opening it in notepad++ looks like it's encrypted, and I would imagine it would have been done by now if it was possible, there have been a few members in your situation with the 32GB model, I've searched the net for the 32GB PIT file too, and everywhere turns up a blank, or more people looking for it
ADB Shell etc 'might' be a possible manual method for repartitioning to 32GB, maybe a dev could chime in here and give some guidance
If all you did to end up with a 16GB device was flash CM13, then maybe there is something in that ROM that repartitioned the phone, maybe CM13 dev could change it for the 32GB version
Didn't think custom ROMs repartitioned, you sure you didn't flash a PIT file?

Yes, but during the same time as flashing the bootloader and modem using compiled Heimdall, and it immediately recognised and used my own PIT file.
I assumed this would have extracted it to a directory to be honest, but I certainly can't find it in the directory. I'm pretty sure Odin does this...
I think best thing I can do for now is stick with 11gb and just carry on using my SD card also, maybe with the very recent (we're talking a week) release of official CM13 will result in a lot of people flashing, so hopefully a 32gb PIT will pop up, otherwise maybe a Dev could help with PIT editing, as you suggested.
Never heard of Heimdall until today, for flashing Bootloaders and Modems, we use ODIN, for flashing stock ROMs we use ODIN, for flashing TWRP we use ODIN, for flashing PIT files we use ODIN
For flashing custom ROMs / Root (SuperSU), we use TWRP
If it recognised and used your own PIT file, then it should have flashed to 32GB surely?
You can use this trick with MarshMallow to configure your external SD to be used as Internal
http://www.modaco.com/news/android/heres-how-to-configure-adoptable-storage-on-your-s7-s7-edge-r1632
Good luck finding a 32GB PIT

Which then begs the question of whether it was actually CM that caused the partitioning. First I'll have ever heard of it though. Still, it's a week's release and it's a nightly, so I can only stress that fact really.
Thanks for the link, it may help others, but personally I will stick with having the SD card on the side for just music and other media. I remember doing something similar with Mount2SD back on the Google Nexus One, which only had like 512mb internal storage. Great idea, and it worked, but long term it just caused dire performance issues.:laugh:
I still get flashbacks of sitting up till 2am in the morning trying to flash images to re-partition the Hboot to stock whenever it went wrong.
lol, yea, I have a TF101 (ASUS Transformer) and that allows external SD > Internal storage switch, which confuses recovery and other fun problems
That's been retired to the gf for a media player now, felt super quick until I got the S5 lol
