Hi there
I have the official flip cover from Huawei with the window to preview the time and weather as well as the playing music...
However a flaw is that there is no option to enable notifications from being viewed directly through the window...
Of course phone calls can be picked up directly but being able to see notifications without opening the cover would be very nice....
Is there a way to make the phone show notifications through the cover? Does Nougat add this feature?
I have already enabled the option to show notifications on the lock screen but it doesn't show on the cover window...
Any Advice is appreciated... Thanks in advance
Got the same. I guess this case is useless. No chance to do that for me. Nougat didnt give this in the patch.

Hi there
I wonder if there are any apps that will display a notification in top of the cover... That would be useful to see....

How does locking the phone work? If the case is closed i can see through the little window on the case and interact, is that a lockscreen app of some sort? If I open the case, will it simply open to where I was previously, or my home screen of choice (Nova launcher)?
I wanna be a bit more clear on the software side of the workings of the s-view case before purchase. I recently bought my note 3 and updated to 4.4 already.
Thank you.
I used Spigen Slim Armor View and also have original S-View cover, but I dont think I could explain it in details.
I suggest to browse youtube for good overview on how S-View works because only pictures can explain otherwise there will be so many miss assumptions/understading in discussions. , you can post questions on youtube as well to get answer from on hands experience users.

If you close the cover, it will automatically lock but the screen will stay on for a few seconds.
When you open the cover, it will automatically unlock and you will go back to where you where before locking the phone (this can be truned off in the settings so that opening the cover takes you to the lockscreen).
If you press the power button with the cover closed, you will be taken to specialized interface in the window.
It shows you information like time, weather, missed calls, messages, number of steps walked (integrated with S Health).
You can check the missed calls and messages, take photos, control your music and make a note in action memo.
That's about it, I guess.
Alright, thanks for the responses.
My only fear was that the "specialized interface" with the cover closed (with missed calls, messages, weather, etc) is a touchwiz thing, so in other words I would need to use touchwiz as my launcher for it to work.
I guess that's not the case then, and using Nova or any other launcher is not a problem, the special interface still works.

You just need a touchwiz based ROM. Not the launcher itself.
Ok. I've had my watch since release and like it for the most part.
But who in the hell at Google decided, you can have notifications, but not use the time. Or use the watch to tell time, by turning notifications off (basically making wearing it pointless.)
Why doesn't Google allow notifications to pop up when received, but then you can Swipe them down to hide them (like in muted mode).
There are some notifications I want to keep, but then your freaking watch is useless to tell time with. (unless you turn off all future notifications)
I was really thinking about buying a moto 360 when it was released too. But knowing now my only 2 options are to turn off the smart part of the watch. Or not be able to tell time after 3pm. Makes it pointless.
You could use a digital watch?

I'm pretty sure that you can do this as soon as the watch api is released. Right now there simply is no way to do this.

Which kind of defeats the purpose of having a watch you can customize.
I'm sure the people buying a moto 360 will be thrilled to learn they bought an analog style watch to only be able to show digital time on it.

I hope your correct and Google didn't give LG or Samsung the api yet either since default faces are the same. I wouldn't be as concerned if it was only user made faces that couldn't hide it.

Why not just set it so notifications are hidden in dimmed mode? So when you glance at the watch you can see the entire watch face. If you need to see the previous notifications, just activate the display and swipe up.
My notifications on my LG G are semi-transparent so I can see a full-screen analog watch-face even in non-dimmed mode. Although I always use a digital watchface which shows in top left corner, for quicker glancing... Is this problem specific to Samsung or is there something I'm missing?

On Gear Live the notifications are NOT semi-transparent, so this may actually be a samsung specific problem... Hopefully an update can "fix" this.

That's still a work around over what should be a setting. Just think it would be common sense to Swipe down to hide notifications on active screen until you Swipe up to see them.

I'm using a g watch. And maybe mine is flaky. But I can not see though the notifications on active screen. . I can use a digital clock and get around it. Just like analog a lot better.
It seems like the official Nougat builds are really horrible when it comes to notifications. I no longer have the option to turn on the display when receiving a notification, which is huge. But on top of that, I don't seem to get any notifications on the lock screen at all, or "heads up" notifications (the notifications that drop down from the top of the screen while it's on temporarily). Am I wrong? Have others gotten this stuff working? I am on AL10.
Well I got lock screen stuff going, it was just defaulting to disabled. But there seems to be no option to wake the display for notifications.

Hi,
I have NXT-AL10. Just got the phone 2 days back and I installed Android Nougat 7.0 directly from Huawei using Huawei ID.
I found a setting that may be the one or at least close to it.I also checked if the notification is displaying on the lock screen and it does. I have attached the screenshots.
When I unlock the phone and check the notifications they are there until I swipe them out. They are displayed beautifully. Unfortunately taking screenshot of that was bit difficult as the knuckle thing didn't work so well. I managed to get these. Hope this is what you are looking for.
Cheers!

I had an issue similar to this on 6.0, it was an issue with themes. Do you have anything under the screen lock style menu, under screen lock and passwords? I have a feeling thats my issue.

Hi,
I checked under screen lock and passwords
options listed are
password, secure lock settings , smart unlock - under the subheading of "passwords"
under "lock screen"
screen lock style, magazine unlock and lock screen signature
under screen lock style
it just displays magazine unlock and when you click that it displays the same wallpaper and asks to apply.
under "magazine unlock settings"
subscriptons, auto-update over WLAN and auto-delete covers
There is a separate application called "Themes" and it shows all the themes. They all look alike but there is no download or edit options available. Even if we want to change or edit those themes, it seems like root is required. Are you rooted?
I have enclosed more screenshots to explain better. Hope you find what you are looking for, if I missed something please let me know if you want screenshot of any other menu or screen.
Cheers!

Can someone please help me enable the 30 wallpapers on the lock screen please?
I had it enabled on Nougat, updated to Oreo and I knew there is no more possibility to add more than one image, but for some reason it still displayed those images like in nougat. Untill I resetted all the setting because the new edge lighting works for messages( really annoyed cause it doesnt work for whatsapp or facebook messeger, wait, any app besides default message app and i tought the setting got corupted)
I saw a post in witch if you use Nova, witch I am, can create an activity with "my interests" app and set the multiple images on the lockscreen. I dont quite know how to do it and I need someone to help me.
Can the classic night clock be added br 3rd party becaus im sure samsung just dropped the support on the phone after oreo..
I miss these 2 features, makes me want to go back to nougat or root and loose OTA.......witch isnt a big deal cause I dont think there will be any more major updates.
To use edge light on every app you must enable pop up notification in app and then edge light works, also with screen off

Thanks! I did that, but it still wont work, although I wont use it with screen off because of privacy issues.
I really like the video on lock screen, can convert gifs and make cool lock screen, but I still miss the old feature. :crying:
Is there a way to view the notifications on the lock screen without actually having to unlock the phone?
I have the settings enabled in "Show all content" in lock screen.
When an email through Gmail comes in, it shows on lock screen, but when I go back to the lock screen, all I see is a Gmail icon and not the actual message itself.
Edit: I guess I mean to show notification on the "ambient display".....
same here, i tried many things no luck.
same here
any further update on this? im hoping someone could fix/change it some day
same here
Mine shows content but I also do NOT have a lock on my device, I just swipe. This probably doesn't help but just thought I'd throw it out there
Mine shows and I do have a lock set.
Ia yours shown in locked screen or ambient display?

But you have to enable the screen taking the phone, isn't right?
I'm interested on the possibility to get notifications on the screen not having to wake up the display. I understand that the notification of missed call i.e. after awhile disappear and the only method to check for it is by taking the phone. I don't have the OP6T yet but I'm considering to buy it but I have some concern about this item.
In the past I had experience with NoLED. It does the job but I recall on Samsung Galaxy S2 time, it was causing some battery draining. I wonder if anyone has tested it on the OP6T.
This app may be pretty close or exactly what your looking for. read through the thread for some root tweaks toy can do to make it even more useful.

Showing notifications on the lock screen is located in settings.

I´ve probably found out the solution. Go to Screen -> Ambient display - > new notifications -> enable it. Now you should see notifications when the screen is locked.
Is there a way to unlock the screen with swipe on the ambient display?
