Hello there, I recently bought the QW09 smartwatch and I was wondering how I could add some watch faces to it. I've tried creating a folder "ClockSkin "on the root of the internal storage and pasting there some folders with skins found on https://forum.xda-developers.com/sma...mware-t3295297 and I just can't see them when I go to select a different watch face. Has anyone managed to successfully add some watch faces to this smartwatch? If so, if you could explain it to me that would be awesome. Thanks
You have to change the files permissions. Just use the same permissions as the stock files

I got Movie Studio(Video Editor) working on A500 here it is...
Requires root
Just move the apk to /system/app, set the permissions and restart the tablet...
Works ONLY with recorded clips
only clips recorded by the iconia? how about clips recorded from other similar devices?
was this a limitation on the xoom as well?
Just loaded up a .3gp file I downloaded, and it works great! Great find, thank you.

Works perfect
Don't forget to chmod 644 it guys
And, if you can't write to the system partition, you need to remount it RW. I understand Root Explorer will do this, but I couldn't get Root Explorer to install.
From the shell you would do something like this:
su
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /system
cp VideoEditor.apk /system/app/
chmod 644 /system/app/VideoEditor.apk
reboot
PLEASE NOTE: The /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 MAY be different for your device. You can run "mount" at the prompt and look for where /system is mounted
Also, it lists in your menu as "Movie Studio" - took me forever to find it because I was looking for "Video"
Thanks!
It's working fine...
I used RootExplorer (mounted rw) , apk copied to system/app and permissions modified with RootExplorer (added execute to owner and group) then reboot A500 (off then on) and I used again RootExplorer to install apk.
I just installed it from a usb stick. There is no need to put it in the system is there?

Can you make Polaris Office from the Transformer work?
I've pushed it to system/app but when I select something or try to create something it FCs.
great job !! thanks a lot!
i was also wondering if the same could work for polaris office, which is apparently much better than quickoffice or any other
Hey All,
I found this thread when looking for the Movie Studio app from my Xoom after it did the 3.1 update as it appeared to be missing. After I installed the apk from this forum, I then noticed that the app appeared twice in my App Drawer. Further research uncovered /system/app/VideoEditorGoogle.apk and /system/app/VideoEditorGoogle.odex
I'm attaching for your use the VideoEditorGoogle.apk file, the permissions on it are 644 (U:RW, G:R, O:R) which can be executed with chmod 644 /system/app/VideoEditorGoogle.apk
I wonder if this is any different? The file size is slightly smaller....
I receive the update to honeycomb 3.1, and miss the movie studio app, please I need help!!!!!
Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Btw I'm on HTC flyer. But I've changed.permissions and moved to system app and restarted ... There was no change. Still unable to install... really wanted to give this a go now that I'm on HC
found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1174160 here in the forum, but cant get it to work on my neo
after a little seaching i found an other script that seems to work on NEO maybe on ARC too
also install-recovery.sh isnt execute on my neo so i put the call into hw_config.sh and it works fine now
howto.
1. push dalvik2cache /system/bin/dalvik2cache
2. adb shell
3. chmod 755 /system/bin/dalvik2cache
4. echo "/system/bin/dalvik2cache" >> /system/etc/hw_config.sh
5. reboot
btw. you need an inscured adb or an insecure kernel like this -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197263
if you do that, then at your own risk, do not complain when your phone is broken
hi,
i think it should also work without insecure adb and with stock kernel.
but root is needed...
copy the dalvik2cache file to sdcard first
with rootexplorer copy file to system/bin
set permissions
edit the hw_config.sh with editor (rootexplorer)
works great, thanks!
since my kernel supports init.d binaries/scripts u can actually just push it to /etc/init.d/ OR /system/etc/init.d/
it should work... though u may need to verify permissions... chmod 777 is best bet

Hi friends,
I've been trying to do this but I really don't know how to use adb. I have Android SDK installed on my computer, and fastboot, flash...ect. But every time I type "adb remount" then I get the answer is 'adb' is not found (blah blah blah...).
Plus my phone can't boot to recovery. Anyone please tell me where can I find the instruction how to do it? I really want to have more space for my phone and move all installed apps to sd card (I also have my sd card partitioned with ext3 and fat32).
Many thanks in advance.

You will have to unlock your phone first and then, using adb, install a custom kernel by fx. DooMLoRD from the link in my signature.
I dont know how to use cmd, can I use Root Explorer?
Anyway to revert it back? Because few apps are missing after it's done.

1). which permissions exactly need to be set and

Any help appreciated!

Hi folks!
I searched the forum, but couldn't find a proper solution yet.
Is it possible to create a shared ("public") folder, which is accessible for every user on the N7?
As the user accounts seem to be managed under /data/media/ID I already tried:
adb shell
su
mkdir /data/media/pub
chmod 777 /data/media/pub
chown media_rw.media_rw /data/media/pub
ln -s /data/media/pub /data/media/0/pub
So logically the symlink is correct, unfortunately the user doesn't have access to /data/media (which I suspected), so the symlink to /data/media/pub is inaccessible for user 0.
Also other locations doesn't seem to work. On / and /mnt I cannot create a folder, as this is read-only mounted by default, and I don't want to fiddle around with various "mount -o rw/ro" scripts on bootup etc.
Does anybody managed to create a shared folder for every user?
Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same problem. I have a owner account in which I put some files (4 Gb) that should be available to every user. But user 10 and 11 can't access these files. Where Can I put those files, so that every account can easily access them?
I figured out that each user has a directory under /mnt/shell/emulated (0, 10, 11, etc.). So I created a directory "public" via root under /mnt/shell/emulated/public and made it worldwide writable via chmod -R 777 /mnt/shell/emulated/public. Afterwards I created public folders in each user directories.
It works like a charm when mounting via:
Code:
mount -o bind,allow_other /mnt/shell/emulated/public/ /mnt/shell/emulated/0/public/
I tried to build a simple script and it works when executing it in root shell via ADB. Unfortunately I didn't manage to automate this on boot. I couldn't find any "init.d" directory and also via "Script Manager - SManager" it wasn't working.
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
PUBLIC_DIR=public
if [ -d /mnt/shell/emulated/$PUBLIC_DIR ]; then
for USER_PATH in /mnt/shell/emulated/*; do
if [ -d $USER_PATH/$PUBLIC_DIR ]; then
busybox mount -o bind,allow_other /mnt/shell/emulated/$PUBLIC_DIR $USER_PATH/$PUBLIC_DIR
fi
done

Any ideas?
It's a start. It would be nice to incorporate it in an app.
It would be even better if it is a standard option in Android 4.2

I agree. At the moment, it seems to be possible only with a lot of fiddle and root including busybox. I don't know, if Google ever will implement such a feature, since it kind of breaks the separation idea of multi user spaces.
I hope, I'm able to figure out, how to get the script working. Everything works except the mount line which requires root privileges. Furthermore the script works correctly when executed from root shell via ADB.
Regards!

I found an easy to implement solution to make a shared directory on the Nexus 7
I used ES file-explorer and set the setting so that it had all the read and write permissions and can go upwards to /
Then I make a new directory in /storage/emulated and give it some name. E.g. /storage/emulated/allusers
Then select the properties of this directory and change it so that everyone has all available permissions.
Now copy the files you want to share in this directory and change the permissions of these files as well.
Now you van change to another account and still read and write these files.
It's a bit of a hassle but it works
★******************
Well I Was too quick. The directory I created suddenly disappeared. I can't find the contents anymore. Where o where would these files go?

Has anyone tried “mkdir /data/media/legacy/pub" instead of “mkdir /data/media/pub"?
I noticed that every user has full access to this legacy folder... In fact, I kinda use this folder to move files between different users!
Well, yes it works. Need to be root though. But it works. Thanks a lot.
I found a solution.
Use the android/obb folder since it is shared space. I added a Movies folder there can can access it from multiple accounts. For MX player to see the movie files I had to uncheck the recognize no media option under settings but it works.
Thank you, I'll try this option too, Better than the solution mentioned above that needs root.

How about using a folder /data/local/tmp for a similar purposes?
Hi,
I want to create an updater-script file that copies /sdcard/data to /data,
How can i do this? dd and cp commands say 'cannot find /sdcard/data/*: no such file or directory'
I don't want to integrate files in the zip package
Is there a way or a command to do that?
I searched on the web, but seems i cannot a working solution, maybe you can anwser
Well your query is wrong.updater-script is for flashable zips and in your case you don't want to integrate the files in the zip right?
Try using this command via terminal :
#cp ~/sdcard/data/*your data /data
what are you trying to do?? o_0
files in sdcards have ownership system:sdcard_rw and permissions something like ----rwx-r-x
to copy files with cp to /data.. you need to be root on terminal/adb shell
the copy will change ownership to root:root while keeping permissions intact...
with such odd permissions and ownership for files in /data .. you are looking at a bootloop..
you'd have to fix permissions for each and every thing incase you really need to copy it
can you tell what are you trying to copy.. and what's in /sdcard/data :|
Hi, sorry for my late reply
I will try that command and post result, :good:
It worked, thanks
Hi
in this thread i want to explain to everyone who want to modify (debloat, add app) to your system.img partition
First is necesary to:
-backup original system.img from your phone (make a copy to your hddpc, dvd, usb stick, disketes ... etc ... lool .. joking)
-injecting root to your system.img
this steps are explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586
NOW: before copy and write the new rootedsystem.img image to your phone if you want to debloat or adding new app do this in your linux machine:
- mount again your new generated rootedsystem.img image
Code:
mount -o loop,rw -t ext4 rootedsystem.img operatingtable/
now browse mounted folder (operatingtable) and delete what you want from app or app-priv folder
if you want to delete startup phone sound delete from /media/audio/ui poweron.ogg and poweroff.ogg
in same mather you can add new app to app or app-priv folder but is necesary to chmod folders and files like this:
for new directories: chmod 0755 operatingtable/app/app-directory
for new files: chmod 0644 operatingtable/app/app-directory/app.apk
when you finish do this
Code:
umount operatingtable
and now you can copy and write to your phone rootedsystem.img image
as explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586
PS: Of course this debloating could do directly from your phone after gained root with files managers ... but i think this method is easier.
PS2: If you debloated some apps (gapps ) ... Is necesary to restore factory settings because some updated apps are in /data/app folder ... or you can delete from there to.
Enjoy.
Is there a way to browse and edit an unrooted image? Does it have to be rooted to mount, browse and edit files? I'm asking because I am trying to edit build.prop only and I'm getting an error that says I'm not the owner. I copied the first command you posted, but I wasn't able to open the img. I had to drag the file into the terminal after the "ext4" to open the file, but I don't know what to do from there.
Sorry I"m a noob on linux
Hi, hope you're still active with this thread. I have a copy of system.img and I want to change a certain .apk inside /app. It is already mounted but when i try to chmod it says something like "changing permission is not permitted". Do you know how to fix this? Thanks!
