On the one hand, it is great that the Zenfone 3 can take photos in RAW format (dng files). On the other hand, the only app that I have found so far that works with the Zenfone 3 and saves RAW format photos is Lightroom.
Has anyone found any other RAW format camera apps that work with the Zenfone 3?
OpenCamera and Camera FV-5 have both been great for me for RAW photo shooting.
Thanks sensi277.
Very few reviews list that as one of its features and none of the RAW camera app lists that I found list Open Camera.
I did not realize that Open Camera has RAW support even though I already had it on my phone.
Now I can uninstall Lightroom as it has very few features as a camera app.
Keep in mind that capturing RAW might expose one stop hot on the Zenfone 3. It's a bit strange, but it means you need to set your exposure compensation to about -1EV when capturing RAW or else things will be overexposed. It does this with every app I've tried, on and off.

Just wondering if there is any way to change the format to raw in the camera, or maybe an application that can save raw images
.... same question.
Even if you could you would need an app that could read the RAW format for the phone as every CMOS will produce a different raw file.

I was wondering if there are any apps for the galaxy note that allow this:
1. Macro focusing (i can't get a good focus lock for closeup subjects; the camera goes sharp for a moment then blur again as it takes the shot.)
2. changing the video recording format. It seems to be mp4 only on the stock camera app.
1. In micro focusing, it has been the same for Galaxy S, S2 and Note. I can't auto focus. The only way to use it is to change the focusing mode to micro focus and then take the photo directly.
Any word if the 6P will have the Camera2 API and be able to shoot in Manual mode with RAW photos?
It does have camera 2 api and supports raw sensor capture in .dng format.
Download "freedcam" from playstore to try out.
The option for RAW photos is greyed out in the camera app settings. Anyone know how to enable it? I downloaded Snapseed, a Google app that allows you to see RAW photos and nothing.
Change the camera to pro mode.
Duh. Why didn't I think of that??? ??? thanks
If anyone is looking for a temporary fix for AOSP camera using Adobe Lightroom camera on DNG mode won't hive the blurry effect but takes a bit longer for the image to process
This is through testing please if this didn't do anything to help don't rage.
