Hi everyone,
I'm probably asking a simple question, but I couldn't find the answer easily. Since yesterday, my phone can do an OTA update (24.201.6.en.EU) but my bootloader is unlocked (phone not rooted). Can I do the OTA update without problem, or do I need to relock bootloader (and i think that would reset the phone) ?
Thank's

On another note, will I lose root?
Is 24.201.6.en.EU Android 6.0?? Is there any confirmation on what this OTA exactly is?
I am currently on A2017U B29 Marshmallow 6.0.1 full Stock. I did not upgrade so far to Nougat, in fear of ZTE locking the bootloader, etc.
In future, I want to fully unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, and load Lineage OS.
If I upgrade my phone to the latest Stock Nougat, will I still be able to do the move to lineage - did ZTE mess up the bootloader any way in Nougat?
From what I read here, it is safe to do so and that I can always unlock the bootloader no matter what - but I need a quick confirmation.
Thanks.

You can always downgrade... you just have to get the Marshmallow update zip and install it with mifavor. totally legal and stuff
Hi,
I have rooted P10 Plus L29. Currently, it is on B133 and I want to update to B162. I did some research on how to update and found several methods (Link ).
I used HWOTA method when I update from B131 to B133 but unfortunately the bootloader is locked again after updated. To unlock bootloader, it will wrap all data from the device.
So, I just curious about the other method whether it will lock bootloader or not. Any suggestions on this?
Imho it is not possible to update without relocking bootloader.
Is it safe to update from Nougat 7.1.1 with bootloader unlocked to oreo without softbricking the device or do I still have to lock the bootloader and then update?
Thanks in advance.

Maybe that's your instructions to start with if you have similar perquisites https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/guide-upgrade-nougat-rooted-encrypted-t3734779
I am curious about these issues, my question is the following when I unlock my Bootloader I can do an update via OTA when it arrives on my device? Or is my phone going to have Hard Brick?
I want to give a Downgrande on my smartphone but it is still in stock without any modification. And through the tutorials I read ask for the unlock Bootloader. My intention is to only downgrade. A friend of mine gave the following idea: "unlock the bootloader to then downgrade and after it has been successfully done." I search how to lock the bootloader again using CMD to put a system with the bootloader locked and so in the future I will be able to receive updates via Ota. " Does This Worker Ideas In Practice?
This my Frist Post here If I make a mistake, tell me, we will not repeat.:fingers-crossed:
When it comes to being able to receive updates when bl is unlocked, that's a yes, it will work fine and won't affect your phone's functionality.
On the other hand downgrading is generally a bad idea. The problem is, when you update your phone your bootloader also gets an update. All parts of the OS except for the bootloader can be downgraded to a previous version, and if you do that, the downgraded OS can function normally on the newer bootloader.
Now comes the tricky part. If you try to do an OTA on a downgraded OS with a new bootloader, the OTA will treat the bootloader as if it were the old one, and will overwrite parts of it that it shouldn't, which will corrupt it. And there you have a pricey paperweight.
The only way of updating a downgraded device is to flash it clean with a newer version (or the version same as the bootloader).
Now what is the reason you'd want to downgrade?
After Unlocked Bootloader You Can't Get OTA Updated Even You Relock Bootloader ., tested On Moto G5s
Model X1795
However During try to Relock or downgrade Oreo 8.1 to 7.1.1 You May Get Complete Dead Your Phone as my phone goes During downgrade .

My bootloader is unlocked.
I wanted to upgrade to the latest firmware and because I was rooted I flashed the firmware I was on at that moment (no down - or upgrade) again and after that I was able to apply and install every single OTA up to the latest. I could have flashed the latest Oreo firmware directly too but I wanted to test this way and to update by flashing latest firmware would have been possible after that too.
So updating via OTA with an unlocked bootloader was no problem for me.
In the end you get the unlock code from Motorola itself and it would be kind of strange if they won't deliver updates anymore for a feature they provide for their devices.

This is a thread for potter (Moto G5+) so your question most probably won't be answered here.

I am planning on to unlock bootloader only will I continue recieving official updates from Samsung and able to install them (not flashing that, OTA ones). I am not going to install custom recovery or kernel or even custom rom. Will it work that way?
