Hey all,
Feel free to use this thread to discuss the recent V10m-OCT-14 Software Update for the G3. I have just received it on my International D855 Model.
Listed enhancements are:
- Apps
This update is 180MB if coming from the other latest update, v10l. You can download this update by going to your Update Center, Software Update. Or, your G3 might have already downloaded it OTA.
Personally, I find a bit more battery life, and more responsiveness coming from v10l, feel free to share your individual experiences with this update here!
Battery life is better than 10L, but it's only one day used. Will see how is in the next few days
Just installed it and rooted it with PD...works fine at the moment, downloading music from spotify and such, let's see how it behaves in a few days time. V10L still had the noises while charging...expecting 10m to have the same issue.
Any KDZ File?
Thank's
Bump! works with this?

A few hours of usage 10M seems on par with 10L, same performance noting special. Guess we will have to see, the newer kernel build date suggests that some tweaks and updates are present and we are always grateful for tweaks

:good: Cool. I can't wait OTA.
@ Mr Bo
Thank's , flash in progress.
Does this update resolves the "Hissing and buzzing sound with headset/AUX" issue ?
Still don't see the M for my IMEI / Region (India) yet. Waiting !
Hissing noise is likely to be hardware so don't hold your breath for a software fix. They obviously didn't adequately shield headphone socket from the charging/battery.
Blimey, I only just got around to flashing v10L.
Is there a way to install the OTA update for someone who has TWRP recovery installed without getting stuck inn the recovery on reboot ? Fortunately, there is a fix to get out of the recovery but the OTA doesn't install when returning back to system.

I can cancel this issue with some tricks (USB or call trick). The G2 did have this issue with kk4.4.2 ant it was resolved with the 4.4.4. So i m still waiting an update or an aosp rom.

Tried this?
That's how I install L. Worked fine, just lost root (which TWRP fixed), DPI was changed back to stock (I fixed that) and it reinstalled a little bloatware (McAfee) which Titanium took care of.
That is, of course, if you can get the KDZ.
I can't see any serious difference after weeks of using ".i" version... always flashing with CSE option.
phone works great, very smooth, battery life for around 5-6h of screen awake
Anyone notice the build number for 6.0.1 (ends in M) is OLDER than the build number for 6.0 (ends in N)?
Any ideas why?

I'm not 100% sure what happened there, but it's most likely because they'd already nearly completed and named the 6.0.1 update, and then had to push out the MMB29N build to fix the major problems Telstra users in Australia were facing first. MMB29M is definitely the latest build and incorporates the fixes (radio, etc) contained in the MMB29N build.
It sort of makes me wonder if that has anything to do with the radio issues on 6.0.1

I haven't noticed any radio issues. What's happening?
Lots of people reporting issues with long times to get LTE, delayed or broken LTE to 3g switch over, etc.
Some people have had success rolling back to the older radio as a workaround. Google has it as an official issue but no fix in sight yet

Hmm, that's very similar to what was happening for Telstra users before Google fixed it with the MMB29N and MMB29M updates.

Yeah it's almost like they "built" the radio for 6.0.1 from an outdated base or they provided the wrong one for certain regions.
But not everyone has reported issues and still some have no success flashing back to the older radio
Quite a few regions rolling the firmware out today.
Apparently has "bug fixes and improvements" and "improved handling of bluetooth connected devices".
hello
can we just install the OTA on a rooted phone?
or i will need to root the new kernel again?
There are reports that the new firmware works okay with the .224 kernel - so you could install the OTA and reflash old kernel to retain root. It is also possible to use Rootkernel to patch the new .253 kernel but this will break TWRP until it is updated
yea that wat i was reading,
i still have my .224 kernel ready so will be easier
but curious to know what change in the two kernels
Hi, i've recieved the new firm today, via OTA. Everything seems to work fine. I have a doubt, i'ts possible to enable vibration on notifications, calls, etc in the new Stamina mode? as in lollipop? Thanks in advance and sorry for my english!

Still April's security patch
I've just update firmware today and the size is about 48 mb..
I don't about the effect of this newest firmware..
Got the new update, battery drain is HUGE, over 20% over night even with stamina mode on
Fine batterylife with new firmware
Ringtone sound
Do you know on 32.2.A.0.253 what about low incoming ringtone sound ...is it fix? Please!!!
I like dt2w and i want to use it but screen opening in my pocket, proximity check on dt2w not included in this update yet, this subject talked in sony forum and here but i think sony not listening users, i used samsung,lg and sony devices, i think Lg best about this because they are including user's customizations in the world with update.
I wish I never had rooted and flashed a custom rom on my Z5 C. Now I can't get back to stock
I can confirm Xposed and root work great with the new patch 5.0 RC1.

You can go back by flashing the original firmware. You'll only have DRM issues which can be fixed/worked around by flashing a patched kernel.
Battery drain with this new update, stamina mode is on, little browsing with WiFi, listening to music etc
So like I said in an other thread I opened,I have issues with low volume output on my current Nougat firmware (.228) and I was thinking of giving Marshmallow a try.
After searching I managed to find that 34.1.A.3.49 was the latest Marshmallow firmware released. My question is: Where can I find the .ftf file for my SA number? Xperifirm only has the latest Nougat firmware and Google wasn't my best friend this time.
Thanks for your time
Don't know about the trustworthiness of this site or how fluent you are in 'singaporese', but this is what my google-fu yielded me:

I'm aware of a Singapore version as well, but isn't there any other way to find the ftf for my SI? Should I have kept one before updating my device? That's what I'm wondering...
Thanks for replying!

Marshmallow has the low volume output as well. There are sound mods but that still only brings it up from "silent" to "can barely hear it".
Here is the .198 firmware from EU- https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bx5gPVuLapkKTU1vOHVsLTMzWGc this one has the androplus kernel available for it.

I am pretty sure there is a version that has louder output than the one I an currently one, and it is/was really, really louder. When I bought my phone it on Marshmallow, and I did almost 8 upgrades OTA. I listened to music on the 3rd upgrade or 4th,but I'm not sure whether it was Nougat(7.0) or Marshmallow. That's why I thought I should give .198 version a try. On the other hand, android 8 is on its way, which might make things different. I'm a bit confused

have you unlocked the bootloader? If for some reason your drm fix isn't working right low volume is one of the issues, although it is more of a feature with xperias lol

No, all I've done is upgrade my device OTA.
Hi,
My phone doesn't detect new security updates. I'm stucked at the August one and the Support says that it's normal.
What can I do?
Thanks!

Be happy that you have fully working software. Major problems have been introduced in the October Security update, and even more problems are in the Oreo beta. I'd recommend staying on 7.1.1 August.

It might be that in your region updates aren't available. If you're willing to take the risk, you can try registering for the oreo beta update. Personally I haven't had any issues with my phone, but that's me. You might not be so lucky

Problems? I understand that in Oreo beta you can get more bugs but what are the problems with 7.1.2?
Thanks

I'm talking specifically about the background tasks bug. Search the forums, it absolutely cripples the phone and requires a reboot twice daily to keep the phone running normally.

Unfortunately it isn't fixed in the Oreo beta, neither is the SMS receiving bug (although that can be resolved by installing a third party SMS app). The Oreo beta has also introduced a load of Bluetooth problems (connection issues, poor quality audio, remote buttons not working).
It is currently not known if HMD will actual fix the issues in the final Oreo build.
I have never experienced any of these issues.
One thing I wonder is what if you rolled back to 7.1.1 then upgraded straight to oreo beta (if that's possible)? I'm just wondering if the issue doesn't have something to do with 7.1.2
