Hey guys! So I currently have a Nexus 7 that I use splashtop with to use as a second monitor for my laptop, but the 7 is just too small. I was wondering if anyone has used a Nexus 10 as a second monitor and how they like it and if it's worth it? Currently using a 14inch 1440p laptop with it as well. Thanks!
Its okay for static information. Best if used as 2nd monitor for a laptop. Not as useful on a desktop.

Basically, once I get my Nexus 7 (Tuesday) I'd love to play games like Dead Trigger and Shadowgun on a big display with my PS3 controller. I know that I can get the sixaxis controller app working but I have no idea how I'll display the image off my laptop onto the TV (which is not a smart TV) and (if possible with some sort of splitter charge at the same time). I'd really appreciate it if somebody could help me.
Bump! Anybody know? I wanna do this too.

Don't think Nexus 7 supports output to TV

MHL = nope
But you can check this out:

what about wifi direct?
Pretty sure its just for file transfer, but I don't have a TV that supports it to test. There's no MHL so you can scratch that. This thing by HTC has been the only thing I've seen that lets you do some stuff, but seems pretty limited
You can use the stupid expensive pricey nexus q

Hey everyone!
My Nexus 7 will be here Wednesday (YAY!)
And I just read that the USB port isn't MHL
Without buying the Nexus Q (All I have in the country is my 4g tether) how can I use an external monitor on my new tablet?
I noticed that there are 4 pogo pins on the nexus 7 vs the 3 on the galaxy nexus. Is there video out on these? Also my M18x has something called WI-HD that allows me to wirelessly transmit my monitor signal to a reciever connected to my tv. Is there any way my new tab can do something similar? I suppose I can just use my galaxy nexus for my Play TV shows but I was kind of looking forward to playing games on the big screen.
Thanks!
Bump. any suggestions guys?
There is no cable solution... chances are there will be a software WiFi Direct solution, but not yet.
Thanks for the info.

Hi,
I'd like to use my Nexus 7 as a Wlan Stick for my Desktop PC. Is this possible?
I am running the CM night lies.
Thanks a lot.
Probably but can't you just plug in a wifi adapter to your Desktop instead?

It works fine with teamviewer
@brokmaker @gsmyth He is not talking about remote desktop solutions. He is asking for an application that makes your tablet into a second monitor for your computer. iDisplay is one of the only alps that does this.

Got it
i found a solution for this problem. i'm running windows 8 and idisplay would only mirror my screen. This is what i did:
go to screen resolution(right mouse button on desktop) and press detect. In my case 2 additional monitors popped up. turn one of these screens on and extend your main monitor. you only have to do this once!!
next start your teamviewer app on your tablet and connect to your laptop/pc. it should detect the monitor you just created so now you can switch to it. thats it. perhaps not the best solution but i couldn't think of something else and trust me i've tried.
about the performance... for me its just as good as idisplay or even better
and a bonus tip i want to share. install connectify on your laptop/pc and connect to your personal hotspot with your tablet. this wil speed things up quite a bit.
I would like to turn my Nexus 7 into a youtube TV so that I select the video that I want on my laptop and play it on my nexus 7 which is connect via the wifi. Is it possible? The only option that I saw, which was close enough was CheapCast, which is not currently maintained and it need the chromecast app in mobile devices.
I am hoping to turn my nexus 7 into a tv so I can pair it via the youtube in my laptop. Any idea?
Sounds like a good idea... But I have no idea how. If you find out be sure to come back and say how you did it.
