Exactly what it says on the tin. If I try to stick a exFAT formatted SD card into my LS997, it keeps on reading it as corrupt. Once the phone reformats it into its own format, it reads fine, but using fat32 on a 128gb card really kinda sucks.
Any ideas?

It does. The kernel it uses though is a debug kernel that doesn't support exFAT. Hence why I say its the kernel. That kernel has multiple issues.

Try a different kernel. Can't guarantee the sim unlock is gunna work though. Since that's the only reason you would be running that rom

Got any suggestions? Also, is it possible to root the V20 without cracking the bootloader yet? Mine came pre-rooted from the last owner.

I dont recommend kernels and Hahaha no. I have no intentions of looking for another root method. That method was bad enough and we got lucky.
EDIT: just try some kernels. Keep in mind i no longer have the debug kernel

Is it just because dirtysanta is built off of a debug kernel that some of this stuff doesn't work?
yes and no. debug kernel is ONLY used in that rom now. we have come along way from the debug kernel. we more rely on the debug bootloader.

By the way, is there any way to factory reset the phone without having to reflash the OS onto the device? Every time I've tried to do so, it keeps on fighting me and wipes all data off of the phone.

That video was pretty great. Lol. But the answer is no. LG patched Loki, and even the dev who maintains Loki said he didn't think they'd be able to Loki the new aboot.

Again, that downgrades the aboot to the old JB so it can be loki'd. Says so right in the description. The OP wanted to know if there was a way of getting recovery without doing that. That's a pretty neat automated way of making it easy for everyone though. Cloudy is the man.
Thanks gentlemen.

Hey i've read the post and what i understand is that what i wanted to do. IT says
Guide
Upgrade to KitKat using KDZ / TOT / OTA method
Root your device (using ioroot25)
Install AutoRec (grant root permission)
means i dont have to go back to JB because the app itself will do the job? correct me if im wrong?
@marshygeek Looks like you're exactly right. That app flashes the old bootloader for you that can still be loki'd

what phone doesn't have issues with rooting/custom recoveries, that just proves how hard the companies who make the device work on preventing us from doing things which are illegal/enjoying the device, if google wanted android to be hacked and modded then they would give people the sources to anyone/they wouldn't block exploits/etc
The harder it is more knowledge you will obtain.
For anyone on 4.4.4
There's this lollipop rom from the international section that looks amazing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-5-0-lollipop-tmt-1-0-t2982363
Someone with our N900A variant said you have to be on 4.4.4 to get the rom to work. I would like to know if the rom will work and I haven't updated to 4.4.4 yet. I'm debating on weather I should update or not. Can someone try it out and report back with info?
Thanks!
I tried. It is AROMA installer. Can't load. Asked developer if he could make a non aroma based version.

I also was able to remove aroma and try to flash this rom with the NC2 kernel as well as the NJ5 kernel. With the NC2 kernel i reach a blank screen and with NJ5 i reach the samsung galaxy note 3 custom screen before it reboots into device recovery. This rom does use a different kernel that we cant flash thanks to a locked bootloader, so in my opinion at this point in time i dont think its possible for our devices to run this rom. We probably won't have lollipop until there is a workaround for the bootloader or we get an official OTA so we then have the proper kernel to run lollipop.

You're a good man for offering to help ! :good:
Any help with that?
I am also awaiting an answer.
My last 2 Samsung phones had issues and I needed to Odin back to stock for warranty exchange at T-Mobile.
So I'm holding off on rooting till we have something of the sort for the v20.
Using Odin to flash my s7e back to stock while having severe screen issues saved my butt.
I'm on JoD for reference, and needed to switch phones at a brick and mortar.
Side note : loving the blooming development for this device.
Thanks for that, all parties concerned.

Does this unroot method work for the sprint variant? I am stock unrooted on the build the phone came out of the box with, and waiting until rooting isn't a one-way street to take the plunge. If it does, are you 100% certain that it had been used in sprint v20s successfully?
That thread specifically says H918. So no.

You are in the exact same position as me. I'm excited that we have an unlocked bootloader and root for the Sprint variant, but I have no desire to do anything until there's an established procedure to unroot and revert back to stock.

Here's hoping it's taken care of. Sprint didn't used to be such a **** when it came to bootloaders. Anyways, I appreciate all the hard work the devs have been doing. Can't wait until I get the chance to experience it. With a stable 200mhz overclock, there's no functional difference between the snapdragon 820 and the snapdragon 821.
Do any of the posted methods work to restore the VS995 variant to stock?
I really want to go ahead and root it (and yes, have disabled updates so still run 12A since I knew VZW was going to be evil and patch it) but I'm very hesitant to do so without a way to restore to stock. Is it one of those things that's just a matter of time, or is there a substantial likelihood it may never be possible?

there is a switch in advanced settings which enables otg, so i presume it natively supports otg without the need of an external app..
(though i have not tested otg function myself yet..)
thus defeating your need to root?

OTG works just fine without root once the option is turned on in the settings. I have used it last week to transfer my SD contents to the phone.
I have tested a cheap £2 USB C OTG adaptor from ebay that works just fine and i have also tested using a Micro USB to USB C adaptor along with a USB to Micro USB adaptor that works also.

I was thinking about it just then, maybe i wont root and flash when i receive the phone, i never had an op5 before so i am eager to know what performance it has, i just hope that their tweaks for the andoid711 is what i wanted
I rooted right away so I could use some of my root apps, but I'm staying on the stock ROM for a while. They're pushing out tons of updates recently, so until the stock ROM gets most of the quirks sorted out, I'll be staying there.
Hi guys,
I come from a Nexus 5 and I've a nooby question...
If the bootloader is unlocked, the OTA updates are still ok ?
I mean, on my Nexus, with an unlocked bootloader I need to flash manualy the last update every time.
Is it the same with OnePlus ?
Thanks for your reply =)
I decided I was not going to root at first, thinking why bother, but then I got to thinking about data loss.
Let's say the phone bricks, my friend's OP3T did just that (he got it replaced no big deal). I want to be able to restore my phone to exactly the way it was either via titanium backup or nandroid backup.
I have compiled for you an Odin-Flashable downgrade to original Nougat ROM.
Does NOT have Google FRP in this version (the ROM came stock this way; unmodified), this is useful if you forgot your Google email.
Download Odin3 and the .tar file HERE
- Open Odin v3.12.7
- Plug in phone to PC
- Simply boot into download mode (Powered off- Hold HOME+POWER+VOLUME DOWN)
- Click AP
- Select J327T1.tar
- Click Start
Once it finished it will reboot and update. It is going to get stuck on 32%, do not worry.
It will take a second, but the recovery menu will pop up. Select Reboot System and it will take some time to get to the OS but you will eventually have Nougat pop up and ready to go!
Enjoy!
*UPDATE*
In the download links I have the "Factory Binary" Custom ROM. It's pretty useful in messing with the phone software, although I do not know the specific use. Use the same method above to install the ROM.
Also, I do believe you can edit the .tar and add TWRP by downloading the recovery.img from my link and replacing it in the .tar and following the same steps. I have not tested because I was helping my brother access his phone because he forgot his Google account after he reset his phone.

Ok so its not truly the factory binary, its an emulator of that, meaning any changes were not flashed over as in other devices. but i have been thinking and, i'll post this in the original as well, magisk....only works if you completely wipe the device first, same with custom roms, i never tried that when i had the j3, bricks be damned we got odin3 and i got scripts to get outta brick an into download.
if someone would be ao kind as to factory reset and tr installing twrp, that wuld be amazing, i have been working with the note 4 sprint variant and there are a few steps in installng custom roms that we were over looking

Only way I can help you is by telling you go buy yourself a PC if you're going to start routing and or developing the firmware on Android devices it is extremely hard nearly impossible these days with Android devices running version Android 6.0 and up to root without a PC the best and easiest way I've found to root a Android device is to First install a custom recovery like TWR p or ClockworkMod and have a unlocked bootloader then from there you can easily download SuperSU and Flash it with a firmware flashing application like ClockworkMod ROM manager that is downloadable on Play Store what I'm trying to say is if you are using kingroot or kingoroot you're going to be hitting that button 4 million years and nothing will happen either by an Android that has a lower version like any version below 5.0 or get yourself a computer and do some research because it is very easy to do the stuff as long as you know what you're doing if you don't it seems way more complicated than it actually is you're in the right place here on XDA to learn everything you need to know so you're off to a great start I hope this helps have a good one good luck
So is there no way we can downgrade further to a firmware that includes the developer option to oem unlock?... I'm about to try and flash what the op posted right now... I'll post results
