I just got the new OTA for Lolipop 5.0.1. I used ADB to pull the URL for the download and downloaded the attached ZIP using my browser. The URL pulled from ADB was an extremely long randomized string of characters that expired the moment my device was done updating. It seems the link is only active during the update process, so the only way to leave the link active longer is to battery pull or something in the middle of the update. I love you guys... but not that much
Keep in mind that this OTA was offered to me on 22.21.16, so I am assuming that you probably need to be on that update before you can use this OTA.
Let me know if you guys have any questions or run into any issues!
I'm rooted and running TWRP on my XT1064 with 22.21.16. Is there a way to just fastboot flash this update? I don't mind losing root. Thanks!
Okay, I had upgraded to 22.21.16 via TWRP using KennyWuLee's packaged tool. This morning I received a notice that I had an update available for 22.21.25. So like a dummy I went ahead and accepted. Now all it does is boot into TWRP. When I restart to system from TWRP it boots up just fine then after about 15 seconds reboots to TWRP.
I assume it is looking for the stock recovery which will then allow me to install the update? So will I be safe to go ahead and reflash the stock recovery, reboot and go from there? Or should I go all the way back to stock everything?
I have an XT1063.
Edit: I went ahead and flashed stock recovery and rebooted. After boot looping several times it rebooted into the system and gave me the message "Software update unsuccessful. There was a problem ....blah, blah, blah." But I still show an update available when I check.
I suspect it is because I am unlocked and rooted, even though I have stock recovery installed. Any thoughts on this guys? I am going to hold fast until I know for sure.
The update failed because you were rooted. You need a 100% stock /system since updates after 5.0 check the integrity of the filesystem before updating.
I may sound like a noob, but just to be sure..
Name of update says ".en.us".
Is it ok to use it for a french moto G 2d generation?
French will be available?
Thanks!!

Not sure if it makes a difference or not. I just put what the build was listed as when I got the update notification.
I put that there in case that was why some people couldn't update from 22.21.6 to 22.21.16

Nice theory, but I am now totally restored back to stock with stock recovery and unrooted. Still no luck with the update. Same thing happens.
I'm still stuck on 22.11.6, so I'm assuming I can't install this update until I'm on 22.21.16?

How do I can install this update?
Hi all,
needing help upgrading to MM.
I'm stuck on 1.17.40.1106 since I unlock the bootloader I can't receive further updates.
I've read that to be able to upgrade to MM you need to have .1531 firmware but since I'm stuck, can I sideload MM 21.40.1220 from Lolli 1.17.40.1106?
I have TWRP installed but not rooted.
First if you want sideload u must in "STOCK recovery"
And Seccond if you want update to MM u must have final firmware of LL. Go to asus.com check ur firmware version, If you are using last LL u just download MM firmware copy to sdcard and go to recovery-->apply update from sd card-->choose firmware MM and wait it update
.....
Dont flash firmware of asus.com if u use custom recovery it will brick your phone....
Thanks Val.
I'm having status 7 error both in stock recovery and twrp, another reason why Im stuck.
What are my options?
anyone?

you have twrp but no root? how does that work?
in any case, the Terms of Service of the Asus unlock tool says you will not be able to get OTA update after using. We have confirmed that the unlock tool communicates with Asus when you use it - we highly suspect it sends your phone information to Asus to prevent official OTA.
I would root phone and install ROM.
check this out for issue of installing official MM update with TWRP:

Thanks Eric.
I was reading the links you gave and have this questions:
1. Is it true that if I use custom recovery (TWRP) to sideload official firmware my phone will be bricked?
2. If I do "fastboot erase system" and flash full official firmware such as 1.17.1531, will it erase the custom recovery and go back to stock?
This way I can manually upgrade to MM once in stock recovery.

1)i think twrp will not flash the official firmware, like if you downloaded it from Asus or got the ota .zip.
2) i do not know that command but it scares me to look at it.
in the thread i linked to, was answer to y question about flashing the official MM stock image.

Hello. This forum is for galaxy 8.07. We don't know about zendroid 2 or whatever you ask.
Just joking. This IS for zenfone 2.
I'm currently using the update. Screen flickering has stopped for the time being.
i have a rooted device ZE551ml 2.3gzh 4gb and when i checked for firmware update it starts downloading and now my device is on the update prompt screen i.e. to install , postponed or cancel it.
so my question is :- is it safe to install the updates on a rooted device.
thanks in advance

My way is unroot and uninstall Xposed first, than sideload the whole rom with stock recovery.
I had failed to OTA many times because I modified some system files (forgot to restore them), so now I just reflash rom to save the trouble.
Wifi auto-connect problem seems fixed and the phone has more available ram after "power and boost".
It's worth to update imo.
Battery life seems the same
All sensors working with this version in my brazilian zenfone 2 z00a.
Running this for last two days so far , yup Wi-Fi connects quicker , graphics seem sharper round the web and there's the security patch .
To update ..
Coming from .184 rooted and twrp.
Full unroot first.
Then used the modder tool , to "return back to stock " option. Select boot.img then recovery.img, remember it flashes .134 .img's and I was coming from .184 to begin with.
Then boot to stock recovery .
Scroll to update from adb. Then adb cmd >
adb sideload MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip
Remembering to put the new firmware in adb/fastboot folder first and changing the file name to MOFD_SDUPDATE before sideloading.
Will give it a few more days then will try to use the modder tool to get back to lineage os and back up the new firmware.
I was on rooted .184 and twrp. I booted into fastboot, flashed recovery, booted to recovery, and updated from SD card. After the update has been installed and the phone booted, I unlocked the bootloader, flash twrp, root, remove bloatware, profit

I had unlocked the BL before so i updated and directly tried regaining root and xposed but failed (softbrick at asus loading screen), I confirm that applying the whole ota from sideload sort of relocks the bootloader and you must do it again, now it is booting and rebuilding the dalvik cache.

In conclusion you did only flashed stock recovery and, from that, you flashed the whole zip in the first post, right?

ps, i had trouble using adblockplus add-on from firefox ,when viewing XDA pages ..they turned out blank , XDA i think prevented the use of such adblock , so now i use the less blocking add-on in firefox called `uBlock`

I once Hard Bricked my phone. Then when I somehow recovered it and tried to install stock firmware, it went into bootloop, then I used g5 plus software to flash boot.img and it worked but after that I lost my original recovery and I have TWRP recovery instead and I can't update my software because it will hard brick again. I have tried reflashing stock Android (problem remained the same) and I am not sure but I guess I somehow modified my system and that's why I am not able to get my stock recovery back(I tried to flash that but that failed). Please help as I need to update my system because Within months Android O updates will roll out. Thanks.

I'm not able to. In My Fastboot it says "System status: Modified" instead of system status Official, so any idea how to get Official System status?
fastboot doesn't care about firmware status. if you want to get official, you need to relock your bootloader. There are instructions on how to do so on the forums here.

Depends on what happened to your device when you hard bricked it in the first place and how you recovered from it.
If you recovered using the albus (Moto Z2 Play) blankflash, then I don't think you'll be able to re-flash the stock firmware completely, as you have a different bootloader to what's expected (i.e. Moto Z2 Play bootloader on a G5 Plus). You'd still be able to flash the system and modem side of the firmware, just likely not the GPT or bootloader. Thus, you're likely better off waiting for TWRP flashables of the stock Oreo ROM, which would mean you don't have to worry about your bootloader. Of course, that means you won't be able to take OTA updates again.
What device do you have and what stock firmware were you/are you running on your device? Maybe you're flashing either the wrong firmware or too old firmware for your device.

Hello,
I recently bought (ON DECEMBER 2017) the moto g5 plus (XT1686) Indian model..
After a week I unlocked the bootloader and installed PixelExperience 8.1 ROM,
unfortunately, I deleted the TWRP backup, so I search for "how to install the stock firmware",
I downloaded an old firmware (it has January 2017 security patch) and installed it thus, I lost my IMEI number it shows 0 when I dialed *#06#.
After that, I got an update on this firmware, when I updated (Hoping for I get back my IMEI), the phone got hard bricked,
then read a forum on xda , tried blankflash and got back my access to bootloader,
after that, i installed "XT1681-XT1683_POTTER_BRASIL_LATAM_MEXICO_7.0_NPN25.137-15_cid50_subsidy-DEF" firmware over and over but the phone doesn't boot anymore it stucks at boot logo,
then I installed twrp recovery and installed Pixel experience ROM again, but I didn't boot, always it stucks on boot logo,
then I select Factory mode instead of reboot in bootloader menu, then it booted into Pixel experience ROM, but the SIgnal is STill GONe,,
any solution....
i went to a local mobile repair store,
they also not able to fix that,,,
then I go to the Motorola service center, they also failed,,
the moto service center guy told that the Firmware installation stops at 80% because of twrp installed...
any permanent solution, please help..
Thanks in advance.. ?

Try to install this firmware using fastboot...
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620771881
It's for the Indian variant XT1686 and is the latest so far. One advice, simply never downgrade a Moto device to a lower version of ROM than what your phone was running before you unlocked and installed a custom ROM, it bricks your phone and you'll end up with an expensive paperweight.

Yes If you can access to bootloader then flash the latest twrp 3.2.1.0 For g5 plus and after flashing recovery then flash the debolated rom first!
Do not flash stock rom first you have to instal Debolated rom you can easily access to the rom from Xda
And then you can flash any rom after debolated

Okay 1st of all
install This TWRP only
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/dev-64bits-t3708091
and Then install any Custom Rom
I suggest these
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/rom-resurrectionremix-v6-0-0-oreo-t3754057
or
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/rom-lineageos-15-0-t3673573
Let me know
Only Do Clean Install
I too have the same no signal issue, but I have my EFS so I can get my IMEI but no signal in any sim. The sims are detected but there is no signal and it says Radio OFF , so I tried #*#*4636#8#* menu but it didnt help either. I lost signal when I was on LineageOS and tried flashing magisk and DolbyAtmos. After that I flashed Debloated and got the signal back but then I tried going back to stock and ever since I regret my decision. I have tried flashing different ROMs but no signal issue remains in each and every one of them. Even EFS dont help as I get my IMEI but no signal. Any help would be really appreciated.
