Hey guys, I'm wondering if anybody knows how you can root the TPT in such a way that after the ICS upgrade, it will still be rooted? I've seen a number of people talking about having done that over at the lenovo forums. I have build 0089_US.
Anybody know if this is doable?
EDIT:
Currently my TPT is bone stock.
Hey there, go to www.thinkpadtabletforums.com
In the root and hacks section of the forum, look for the topic "yet another root exploit for the thinkpad tablet (YAREFTPT)" and follow the instructions in that thread. That is the only exploit that'll work on your current tablet version. And by the way, you will need to be patient to get root to work and follow the instructions to the letter.
After rooting, there is another topic on that forum "installing ota3 with root preservation". Its a sticky, so you shouldn't have problems finding it. Follow those instructions AFTER rooting your tablet. It generally involves temp unrooting before updating and then restoring root back.
My friend and I are noobs and want to root our Note 4 - n910cxxu1coi4 phones running 5.1.1. There has not been a custom kernel released (to our knowledge) and we wanted to know where there is documentation on what files we need, including version of ODIN to walk through the process.
We definitely need step by step instructions; some of the documentation we've come across leave steps out, or are pretty unclear. We've asked Max Lee of High on Android for assistance and he said we'd need to get a custom kernel, back up with TWRP and that he's not seen anyone root our model on 5.1.1 n910cxxu1coi4 yet. We surely cannot be the first.
All help appreciated!

Hello,
Welcome to XDA.
Look in the thread linked below, in post #1579 there are links posted for different kernels that will root your device on COI4 /COH4 firmware, find one to flash through Odin.

To better assist you with finding the information to do that, this thread will be move to your device Q&A forum, you can ask any questions you need to find what you are looking for there, it is linked below.

The experts there may be able to help. Good luck.
I know there are threads on here that say how to do this, but i cant seem to find them. Can someone please give me DETAILED step by step instructions (including links to pertinent software such as Odin, software drivers, etc) for a Verizon S5 with lollipop 5.0 build BOC3 & BOC4 (have 2 S5's, one has a build BOC3 and one has a build BOC4). I want to make sure i use the exact correct procedure so i dont brick these phones. My direct email (since i want to be able to find the instructions once someone here is kind enough to send them) is [email protected]. Also, one other thing. Can so,eome recommend the best Rom to flash to these phones? I am trying to learn this stuff as quickly as possible....
I too would like to be pointed in the direction of a thread with steps to root.
Use this thread

There is a thread with "how to root" in the title, why can't you all start there? I mean honestly, all you have to do is read...
Does anyone have a link to the best root method for the H918 T-Mobile phone? I found the dirty Santa, but it's not for our model.
Thanks
Recowvery. Its in the forum under developement.
I follwed this http://android.wonderhowto.com/how-to/root-your-t-mobile-lg-v20-using-dirty-cow-0175329/ for my H918 its a basically a fully detailed step by step of this https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/h918-recowvery-unlock-v20-root-shell-t3490594 which is the manual way.
The article made much more sense 'seeing' each and every single step as I was terrified on bricking. I followed it to the letter & put some tips in the comment section (3rd comment). Also make sure you're on update 10D [settings, about phone, software info, software version].
Happy Rooting
The most obvious guide on XDA is the All in one Oppo a37f guide :- rooting, downgrading , unlock bootloader and many more
However that is only for the A37F not the A37FW. I've tried the guide there and my phone got bricked (it won't boot and kept vibrating)
Searching the internet doesn't have answers either, so I'm pretty sure the oppo A37FW can't be rooted.
I'm asking only to confirm this
EDIT: I also need help on unbricking my oppo, I've followed this tutorial but I could not get the volcano tool to work. Please advise..
EDIT2: I fixed it by following this tutorial
The bottom line is if you want to root your A37FW, then do not upgrade the phone version and let the build be 160xxxi instead of the latest 170xxx - then you might be able to root your device using KingoRoot. If you upgraded your phone, at the moment you cannot root your device as its patched. So we have to wait.
this firmware help me from brick
