Unless there is an official nougat release for Note 4(which will never happen), there is almost zero possibility of getting an nougat port, remember note 4 & note 5 are entirely different devices & it would take a lot of time of do something like this & even then stability might not be there, although there are already many Note 7 ports available, which contains exactly same functionality, but all are & most likely will be marshmallow only, if you want nougat, Lineage Os & other roms based on it are your best shot.

The Note 3 is not upgradeable to TouchWiz Marshmallow, but there are rom ports that are touchwiz marshmallow for that device, besides, I don't quite remember the dates, but, I think the note 4 had Note 5 ports based on marshmallow even before having official marshmallow.
According to this, I don't see why someone couldn't port nougat touchwiz based rom without it being LinageOS rom.

Let's see, personally i don't think it would happen, Even if it does, its will never be as stable as Marshmallow without official nougat firmware & it's a time consuming process, besides if you follow the threads , you can see that none of the devs have shown any interest so far in doing the same, they are supporting note4 for a long time & have moved on to other devices & note 3 has a much active development community than note 4 , so, no point in comparing these two.

I agree on that, even if it's possible to port, it wouldn't be as stable as an official update. And yes, note 3 development is much bigger than note 4's, and the exynos variant is not a huge interest to developers, as snapdragon is much easier to work on.
Maybe someone will port note 5 nougat, but it wouldn't be in a near future, or stable either, or have the desired support we want.
I'm afraid the kernel and bootloader will be the main issue here. The N4 is stuck with M kernel and bootloader, which is very likely be the dead end to this potential project. Plus the M firmware would most likely not work with the new Nougat software. One can only try but I think stability and performance wouldn't be optimal even if the port was able to actually boot and run with the M firmwares of the N4. This is why dev's are not jumping on this with enthusiasm. This is likely a no win situation and since it takes so much time and work porting these newer TW software, it's simply not worth it to do this for little to no reward other than self pride. It's definitely not enough to persuade me to take this on but I may try and see if I can get a booting TW nougat rom on my N4. A lot has changed in the Nougat framework so I have very high doubts but you never know.

Sorry to not get this Tutorial as elaborated as I wroth before but I get flustered by getting a error when submit
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I use a windows software call SamFirm do download VERY FAST the lastest original firmware from Samsung servers.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Note 1: You need to specify the “Region/Country” of the Firmware. For that, you can look at some sites that have the same Firmware (Links below). But don’t download from this sites, because is VERY SLOW.
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-T230NU
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T230NU/
http://www.androidayos.com/galaxy-tab-4-stock-firmware/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/links-stock-galaxy-tab-4-firmware-t3013128
Note 2: The region “BNN” is for the Samsung galaxy Tab 4 7.0 Nook Edition
How to use SamFirm:
1 - Model = SM-T230NU <-----------------(Ex: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 7.0" = SM-T230NU)
2 - Region = BNN <------------------------(Ex: “BNN” for Nook Edition)
3 - Auto = ON
4 - Click "Check Updates", if firmware for the particular region exist you see a msg in Log Window below
5 - Check CRC32 = ON <--------------------- Check is the file is intact
6 - Decrypt automatically = ON <----------- Decrypt file after download
7 - Click "Download” and choose the destination folder
8 – Extract the .md5 using 7-Zip (Nota: WinRAR get error sometimes)
9 – Done, now you can use Odin3 to upgrade you firmware
Cheers

It sounds like you were asking about custom ROMs, as opposed to keeping official firmware up to date which is what BXA is talking about. For the record, instead of installing an extra app just to keep up to date on official firmware releases, you can always check my threads which I keep up to date on official firmware releases for all Tab 4 variants:
--Official Tab 4 KitKat Firmware thread
--Official Tab 4 Lollipop Firmware Thread
Assuming you were inquiring about custom ROMs, below is a list of the most popular and/or well-maintained ROMs that will work for your device (pro-tip, even if the ROM says it's only for the SM-T230, it will work on your device, but you probably will lose IR blaster functionality). Before you ask, there are no viable CyanogenMod-based or even AOSP-based ROMs for this device (or SM-T230). They tried to get CyanogenMod working for your device, but as of right now the available builds either don't boot entirely or boot but have bugs like Wi-Fi not working. I'll link to the thread with the relevant info and downloads, but don't expect much, certainly nothing stable enough for daily use. The list I promised you:
--Acheron ROM (well maintained, popular, great dev to interact with, and even though I don't own your device, my recommended starting point)
--Prism Barebones (unfortunately apparently no-longer maintained, but still a solid, popular ROM by a well-respected dev, a legit alternative to Acheron)
--TranchidaKat (seemed to be gaining in popularity, unfortunately the dev recently took a break from maintenance)
--T230 Smooth ROM (I don't really know much about this ROM, but from what I can tell it seems/seemed reasonably popular)
There are a couple more ROMs I feel reluctant even mentioning, and can't really recommend with any sort of confidence. The first had an OK dev (seemed to be in the up and coming, eager to learn but not experienced stage of being a ROM developer): Octagon ROM
The next ROMs I'm going to mention I can't recommend in good confidence not just they're now slightly out of date, but because they seemed to have a few bugs, but more so the developer doesn't do much to instill my confidence in their knowledge base when it comes to developing ROMs for android. Also they're not really custom ROMs more than they're just the stock ROM with themes and skins applied, as opposed to any real under-the-hood performance improvements: Everything Google ROM; the previous ROM with a Marshmallow skin; and Android 5.0 Lollipop Material Design -{theme}-
Finally the CyanogenMod thread I mentioned, even though as I said, you will be disappointed if you insist on downloading anything to try it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/dev-cm12-1-t230-nu-development-thread-t3190971
One last thing before I go, in case you haven't found the custom recovery you need, you have three (although the first two are more recommended) choices: an older version of TWRP which I can guarantee will work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/root-galaxy-tab-4-7-t230-t2835264
Or a newer version of TWRP which should work for your device but I cannot personally guarantee that (click the link that says twrp-3.0.0.0-degas-160207-0212): http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/recovery-twrp-2-8-1-0-samsung-galaxy-t2922795
Regarding that newer TWRP, I'm pretty sure I've seen posts confirming it works for your device but I can't recall for sure and I personally installed the first (older version) on a friend's SM-T230NU, so your call. If you have a strong personal preference for CWM as opposed to TWRP, you can try the following recovery, but it's not actively maintained any longer, so be warned. Although to be fair, it works fine as far as I can tell, so again your call: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/recovery-philz-smnu-t2980094

my question .. will Note 4 get update Nougat 7.0 Official?
thank u for information...

No. This is extremely unlikely, as the model is more than two years old now. It was unlikely that Note 4 received update to MM at all.

Reporting via N910G.
already struggling with mm , still update nougat ?
According to Samsung's policy, flagship devices are likely to have only 2 years of software updating while our device has just passed that amount of life time, thus, no more major Android update, security patches may still be delivered. (Note 4 has many major Android updates over time, from 4.4 KitKat to the 6.0.1 Marshmallow). Again, this is the biggest problem with Android where software updating is limited, especially for non flagship devices.
From now on, our only hope of getting latest Android version is through unofficial way, CM14, AOSP are our best friends, we only need to give our devs a great support and they'll help our phone to survive one more day. Be optimistic guy

Thank u bro... its very good information for me .... thansks..:good:
We won't be receiving N officially, but we will probably get some version of cm14 (as advised by @yashthemw)
But I also strongly think we will start to see s7 ports of N as beta N just dropped for them over the last couple of days.
So wouldn't be surprised if we see a ported version to our device some time over coming months.
I'm gutted we lost our AICP maintainer ? would love to have seen AICP N running, MM is running buttery smooth with great battery life for me. But we need to sort out our cm14 branch first.
i think so
Hiya XDA,
I currently have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900T).
The device is currently on a stock rooted firmware with Android 5.0 SDK 21.
While this is not the T-Mobile Q&A Device section ... this is a larger general Note 3 audience and most of the custom roms posted in this section seem to work for this device as well.
I've been searching for a new Rom as of recent and this will be the first time I've went to a custom rom.
However, there seems to be a good bit of selection as well as out-dated roms... which makes the choice some-what difficult to an inexperienced user that has not followed
rom development over the years.
I'm looking to upgrade to Android 6 MM and have been looking at both the Note 7, and "S8" Roms currently available. I don't really need any extra apps... a pretty close to stock experience is just fine.
Though in the end, Stability, Performance and Battery usage is really what matters.
So far here seems to be the selection I've come across as potential roms to use:
------------------------
[ROM][TW] [6.0.1] [FOUGAT ROM]《N7/S8 [v6] [23/05/17]》《C9/S8 [02/05/17]
-
[Rom][N7 Port][24.04.2017] [Multi-DPI] Phronesis Rom N7 v6.0 Feature Rich & Smooth
-
[ROM][NXTeam][6.0.1][N7 Port][19.May.2017] MagMa-NX UX8.5 (Amazing S8 Edition #1)
-
Older/Discontinued:
[ROM][TW][Aroma][AOD]AryaMod Note7 Port V2.1[EOL]
-
[Rom]Darklord N7 V1 or S7 E [PEK] port 6.0.1 (MM)[AROMA][DPI] [21th December,2016]
-
[PAUSED PROJECT][ROM][6.0.1][TW][DarkWolf_FW S7E+Note UX][V8.5.MM][25/06/2016]
------------------------
Besides these, there may be other ones that you've used that you prefer and I'd like to hear how users feel about those as well ...
Anyways just looking for opinions and a little bit of information to help myself, as well as maybe someone in my shoes make a decision.
And finally my question about SafetyNet... Is it still possible to pass Safetynet, using one of these Roms if I install Magisk or if I install Systemless Xposed along with Magisk?
Thanks.
Anything else ?
I currently have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900T

Hope you haven't done that yet. I'm currently on that and am having a no data issue. I'm still researching it. I picked this one because it seemed to not have that issue.
Ive flashed 7 different roms to my smn900t the only one i have had 100% no issue with was the resurrection remix (rr-n-v5.8.2-20170309-hlte) thats the exact name of the zip folder. Everything has been working for me. Phronesis wouldnt allow calls in or out. Darklord s7port made my phone so hot i couod probly cook eggs on it.(feeling like i may have done something wrong flashing darklord) i LOVE phronesis and am so upset about the calling issue. Other than that the phronesis was PERFECT. Hope this helps. Happy flashing!
Hi, currently running Aspire ROM V5.0 on n9007. Working beautifully for me with some tinkering. Got Magisk going too.

Yeah 2019 now and Note 3 still kickin' it. Just thought could help someone out. That's what it's about yeah?
Hi,
I couldn't put this on the ROMs forum so I put it here instead. I have been looking endlessly for weeks for a custom rom for the sm-t357t (t-mobile) (RR, Lineage, etc.) with no avail. It is really annoying bc the standard tab a gets nougat and this one is stuck on lollipop. I would build one myself, except I have low end hardware and am a noob when it comes to building ROMs. I am rooted with twrp and would be grateful for any guidance or ROMs.
Thanks
I too would like an update for this particular T-mobile tablet. I need 6.0 or better for Google Family Link.
Same here- Looking for a Galaxy Tab A (SM-T357T) ROM. Android 6 or preferably 7.
bump
With no official release of MM/N, I highly doubt a custom rom.
I have this tablet too. I know the sm-t355 is basicly the same tablet and I believe it got updated. Why can we not get this flashed our device. Im not sure.

Edit: Title should read Note 8, Android 6.
I currently have the Darklork note 7 port on a snapdragon note 3. It seems there are no ports of newer note models, or ports that rest on android 7, 8, 9.
From what I've seen, I can install the latter up to 9 but the rom won't be a touchwiz based one with spen and other stock features supported. Or if having touchwiz features, there is a Magma note 8 mixed port but like my own is only on Android 6. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-magma-nx-rom-t3508672 (Is that the NEWEST touchwiz based ROM?)
I am a bit worried about the security of such an old system now so was hoping to find newer ports of note 8 or 9 sitting on android 8 or 9. Is there a specific reason none of the ports are newer than that, or simply that the note 3 is old and it's a lot of work to port touchwiz ROMs?
Is there a way to continue to update the security if using a Android 6 ROM?
Have I missed any ROMs and there is a Touchwiz port that rests on Android 8 or 9, or which has key Touchwiz features at least? Air command is a pretty cool feature I think.
