No going back? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, to my new found knowledge I made a big mistake.
I rooted my Nexus 6P for the first time ever, and I used the Nexus Toolkit to root after failing miserably via the classic method. After I rooted I installed some minor tweaks and I then decided to step it up and install lineage OS. I installed it with not much problem. I tried installing another slight tweak and I saw the message of "System UI has stopped". I panicked and factory reset and am installing again to the first version of Lineage I tried (which worked). I then started thinking...
If I want to uninstall lineage how do I get back to my stock OS?
I then saw all the forum posts on other devices and they all said just install the old ROM you backed up.
Guess who didn't back it up.
I wanted to see if there was any way I could get my stock OS back, I don't care if I can or can't sync my app with Titanium backup I just want stock back. I would've posted this in anohter seciton but since im new I thought I would put it in general rather than other less fitting subsections.

You can always go back. Just download the factory image and use adb to reinstall a fresh factory install.

Instructions and image downloads straight from Google.

Easiest thing to do is download the stock OTA from Google and simply adb sideload it via adb sideload command on your pc. Also I recommend trying different roms than lineage as many roms are based off it but with added features and improvements. I use this rom which includes the opengapps package for Google apps like play store. I recommend wiping everything and going back to stock and trying this rom or another one of your choice.

Stock 2.2 Froyo

Hello,
I am buying a different android phone and i am going to sell my nexus one. The guy who i am selling the nexus one to, just wants the stock 2.2 install on it. Anyone have the link to get this. Also what is the best way to remove all of my account settings? reset the phone then flash the new stock rom?
Get the FRG33 passimg from shipped-roms, then manually update It to FRG83. The phone will be wiped in the process, so all sorted.
Do you have any links. I have been googling and all the links say that they have been removed from server. Time is of the essence right now. I tried to do a factory reset via bootloader/ Clear storage and it removes all my personal data and apps but the mods are still there.
Ok, all links to original google servers are not working. Ended up using Rom Manager and going back to stock that way. Worked very well.

ROM manager stock is not the "pure" stock. it is rooted and does not have recovery. To go back to real stock you need to flash stock image as it came from google. it will have recovery + radio + ROM
Follow the instructions I posted.

[Q] OTA problems

I realized my Nexus 7 is still on 4.1 and it couldn't find the 4.1.1 OTA update. I had rooted but not installed a rom. I can force the Nexus to find the OTA update 4.1.1 by force quitting the framework services app but it doesn't actually install. It goes through the download and reboot but after reboot no 4.1.1 just 4.1. I restored to factory settings but same problem. What gives?!
This is pretty frustrating especially since this is suppose to be the Google flagship tablet. Can't even get its own updates to stick to a factory resetted device.
And of course Google support is nonexistent.
Any suggestions outside of manually installing which I don't really want to do? Is it too much to expect updates to actually install?

Couple of things, do NOT! use the Framework trick, as it causes no end of issues such as Play Store not working etc etc. TRUST ME DONT!
Second of all, if you've rooted, you have a custom recovery and hense cannot install OTA updates.
Do it manually, using the adb commands when connected to your PC.
There is a tutorial on doing it manually in XDA, it took me a couple of minutes, literally, and I kept root and everything was strawberries and cream.
I'll say again, Framework trick may seem good and easy, but it creates more errors than it does good
Hope this helps !

Quick question; does factory reset unroot? The only reason I rooted was to get USB host support. But now I use the media importer app I don't have a real need for a root. So if factory reset doesn't unroot, I gotta unroot by the rooting utility? It's a real pain in the butt to have to manually update if I don't need root access anymore. I'd prefer it just update normally since my previous need for a root no longer exists.

No you will keep Root when factory resetting as it is part of the /system directory.

I'm having a heck of a time unrooting. Using the tool kit but it won't actually wipe or unroot my device at all. I run through the unlock, flash stock and nothing actually happens.
This is frustrating.
Follow this and fast boot the files with adb. Just follow the commands.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796
If you do this you will know what to do and never need a toolkit again. This will bring you to complete stock!
Its really easy. Put your android-sdk on your c drive and there will be a folder that reads platform-tools. Place the files in there and make sure when you open the command prompt you point to the right directory in my case it is c:/android-sdk/platform-tools

[Q] nexus 4 no os installed?

so today when android 4.4 came out i really wanted it. so i was trying to unroot my nexus so i could get android 4.4, but every time i did a factory reset it was still rooted and on a custom rom. so i wiped pretty much EVERYTHING from my phone (from recovery mode) and now i have no os. can someone please help me??!?!?!? i have the N-cry toolkit, but when i put the rom files into the roms folder, nothing happens. it never works. I am so confused, i looked on other threads and they have very, well, general directions, and i have no idea what they are saying. something about pushing a rom with adb onto my phone? idk. please make it make sense for a noob like me. I dont know anything about this whole pushing thing, or sideload. please help me out guys it would be much appreciated! thank you!

Factory reset doesn't restore a backup of the stock ROM, it simply wipe data.
This is what you need to do:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
Remember, you overwrite the stock ROM when you flash a custom ROM; the stock ROM is no longer on your device.
And you shouldn't use a toolkit (unless you know how to do it manually) - rooting isn't about having a quick fix to make your device cool, its about learning along the way and knowing what you are doing, and ending up with a better device at the end.

^^^^ he is so right... Now here is where you should start http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312 . Question - why are you unrooting to root again. Now you doing this caused you all these issues when you could of just waited for a rooted rom which there is a variant of KitKat in development already.
Hope you get it all working but in the future sit back and relax and wait for a developer to make a rom for you too flash.

i cant put any files onto my device, all i can do is recovery mode and fastboot. i cant install drivers to the phone or put anything on it. The commands dont do anything at all like "fastboot devices" i cant put any roms on it unless there is a different method than just copy and pasting.
EDIT****************
I asked my dad for some help and he helped me figure out the whole push files and adb thing. we were able to push cyanogenmod 10 and flash it. it worked out, and now im trying to put back the nandroid that i made before i wiped everything. but thanks guys for helping out and telling me to do the adb push thingy! thanks guys! sorry for being a n00b!!!

Can't Flash ROMs

Wugs tool never detects my Nexus 10, I tried everything (it did when I first rooted it). I'm on 4.2.2 but for some reason I can't update to the newer versions via OTA, it always fails. I'm rooted. I tried flashing a clean 4.2.2, which I got directly from Google, TWRP fails every time, even after a full wipe. I'm lost.
Does having the AOSP browser installed have anything to do with this? I mean having it installed so that even when I factory reset, it still there.

The browser has nothing to do with it, but I will suggest to skip the toolkit as too many people run into issues with these

Have a look at this thread, 3rd post in particular, it will help you get back to stock and then if you wish root manually and flash any ROM from that point

Sprint lg g pad f7.0 (lk430)

I accidentally ruined my LG G PAD F7.0 and
am stuck in a Google Play Services Error loop on my tablet
at the first time setup screen and it kicks me back to select the WiFi option i cant access the Android OS or home screen i tried both factory reset options
The Tablet was rooted but i believe the OS/Google Play services is damaged because of an app that wasn't supposed to be disabled that what im assuming....
What i wanna know is it possible someone can make a flash-able dump of their tablet from someone elses same model and if i can use it to restore this tablet back to working condition and if so how??
I also would like to know if any of the sites are the proper recovery files for this tablet:

Ok bro, first thing you need is the LG Drivers which you can get here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/g3...Ver_3.11.3.exe
Next you need the LG Flash Tool which you can get here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/fw..._Tool_2014.zip
Then you need the stock rom which you can get from the sources you found or you can even just google it. Everything is pretty self explanatory. Make sure you're tablet is in d/l mode. If you have any more questions just ask. Good luck!!!

XXX01, did this work for you? I'd like to be prepared if I come across a problem like this. Also, has anyone had any luck flashing *any* custom rom on a 430? I see Cyanogen has release for 400 and 410, and I know this is a recent release, so I'm conflicted by how new the device is compared to how similar it might be to those others.

I would benefit from this as well. I would like to revert my G Pad F7.0 back to full stock but I can't. When I do a factory restore, it is still missing web browser and other apps that I had removed.

Did you get your stock ROM yet. I can pull it off one of mine if you still need it., I got two of them from Sprint just to save the activation fees on 3 other phones. I need to root them because they are way to slow. The hardware is way too small. Anyways, as soon as I figure out how to root them I can do a nan droid off the one I have never used so I won't even have to factory reset first. If you give me the steps you did to root yours it will save me time. How did you brick yours?

Extracting a nan droid is easy enough. It is what you should have done as soon as you installed a recovery. t's just a back up. I need to use the same recovery you installed so it works on yours. After I back it up I will send you a link. You put it on your card and then restore from your recovery. It is key to always back up your firmware before you modify anything. If I make a back with the device that I haven't used it will be stock for you. I've never rooted a LG so I'm still looking for the method. I can compress it to a TAR if you want to flash it odin (or whatever is used for LG) but it is easiest just to install it as a restore. You can still power your device on to the recovery can't you?
I didnt even get to the recovery part I rooted and try to reboot after installing supers u from King root and been looping ever since

Getting it out of the boot loop is usefully not all that difficult. Did you try wiping the Dalvik and the cache? That will probably do it. If not what you need is the boot or kernel. Find the stock or the custom kernel and install it then wipe dalvik and cache.
I think i need the boot.img or kernal and I can't find either anywhere I've looked and I've tried factory reset and nothing I have the stock recovery so j can't wipe dalvik

A factory reset will wipe the dalvik. I will see what I can find tomorrow. When I get mine rooted you can use the boot image from my back up if I can't find one elsewhere. It's best to install a custom recovery. If your wanting the option to return to stock a good app is flashily. You can back up the boot loader and the kernel before you install a recovery and then use it to flash it back when you want to. It will even back it up to drop box so it doesn't get lost.
What method did you use to root?
I used king root and I'm no rookie to the rooting Android thing I've been doin it for years I just can't find a recovery to flash or anything other then King root to root it and if i could get it to go past the splash screen I'd be able to fix it but I can't get it passed there unless I find those files
