So, I was about to buy this phone and use it on At&t in the US, but as I was looking at the ebay listings, I noticed that some of them stated that It does not work GSM with at&t.
I'm not very tech savy, but I find hard to believe that such an advanced phone would have this problem. Can anybody that tested it, shine some light on this for me please?

It has the hardware to support it but it's the software that verizon has locked down to not work with any other carrier in the USA
In normal gsm phones you simply need an unlock code for the phone to work with any other carrier then the one it's meant to work with but in this case even after you give the phone the unique code it still won't work with att or Tmobile in the USA so we are looking to see how to disable the lock on USA bands on the phone but it seems not many people have made much progress

AT&T uses 850Mhz and 1900Mhz for the 3G frequency bands and it does support it in the hardware as I was saying, its just that nothing at this point will work not even EDGE because the USA lock overrides anything AT&T uses.

You are confusing the Droid 2 Global with the Milestone 2. Two different phones here.
the milestone2 should have the right hardware to connect to att 3g sorry for the confusion
The Droid 2 Global and Droid Pro also have the hardware to support US GSM bands but it has been disabled in the radio. This is not software, so to speak, but rather hardware configuration.
If you know where to look you can fix this problem.

OP asked about Milestone 2, not Droid 2 Globlal.
So - to address OP's question - yes - Milestone 2 currently on sale in most places is the EMEA model (Europe/Middle East/Asia), which has 900 and 2100 W-CDMA bands only.
Based on the official page from Motorola here, Milestone 2 A953 has a version with W-CDMA 850/1900/2100 MHz which are the bands used primarily in the Americas (850 and 1900) and Australia (850/2100). There was an article the phone is coming to Argentina before Christmas, so it may start showing up quite soon.
If you want US 3G support from Milestone 2, you have to wait for one of these to emerge. Sure enough it will not have any restrictions against US GSM/WCDMA operators (MCC 310) like the Droid 2 Global (currently) does.

I have to modify system because in my ROM (Fission) the packages that handle sim card functions do not work without some "blur" components so thus the need to modify my system
I have pics and a vid ready to go for when I was going to sell my service. I am not trying to nor am I going to compete with you guys or from TBH. P3Droid and Gweedo have been nothing but really friendly with me and to be honest; I would rather not deal with the headaches that come with selling a service on this forum and/or many others. I already went through and going through hell for the way I handle Fission ROM Manager and really don't want any more of that crap...I would rather continue dev work on the ROMs and some other apps I have been working on

Thanks Angdroid for ur hard work. Been following u for some time, hopefully u can release SIM package for D2G Fission soon.
Could anyone running Fission ROM try to switch to GSM mode from *#*#4636#*#* menu? I know you can switch to GSM from there on the original ROM without having to go to settings/wireless/networks/etc As it is standard Android tool, maybe that could be used to switch between the two radios until AngDroid figures out how to make it nice. Hope it works though.

Yesterday, we published an article asking an open question: what is up with T-Mobile band 12 support being removed from some unlocked smartphones?
Today, T-Mobile contacted us to speak about said article. Unfortunately, T-Mobile was unwilling to provide any official on-record responses to our questions. But after a short discussion, I can provide you some information I have learned on background (journalist speak for "cannot be directly quoted or attributed to anyone"). First:
On T-Mobile, any device on its network with band 12 LTE data support must also support T-Mobile Voice over LTE services and E911.
The E911 part isn't particularly important in terms of the certification requirement - all phones sold in America are technically E911 compliant, because by law they have to be. The problem is that E911 compliance is inextricably linked to T-Mobile's VoLTE requirement for band 12. Without VoLTE support, a device on band 12 service would be unable to make phone calls of any kind if no other T-Mobile band was available (it will not know to fall back to AT&T roaming - the call will just flat-out fail), and that would include making 911 calls, meaning the device would for legal purposes likely be out of E911 compliance, and T-Mobile could get in trouble with the FCC. Not to mention, you could have somebody trying and failing to dial 911 in an emergency, which would of course be terrible. And yes, by removing band 12 support, you can make E911 work, because the phone then has no signal at all and knows to try to roam onto another compatible network (AT&T usually) to complete the call. This is both a safety and liability issue, and it is easy to understand where T-Mobile would be coming from in terms of concern about this - they do have something of a history with E911 debacles. Clearly this is a very real safety concern, and I do sympathize with T-Mobile in the sense that they obviously can't just sit here and do nothing about it. But there are practical concerns for OEMs here - adding T-Mobile VoLTE isn't just as easy as flipping a switch.
In order to obtain VoLTE compliance for band 12, phones must go through T-Mobile's rigorous network certification process (and yes, unlocked phones can go through this certification).
Speaking off the record to one major smartphone vendor, we have learned that there are very real costs and complexities associated with obtaining that certification, and it must be done on a device-by-device basis. Many phone OEMs, then, may simply choose to remove band 12 support from their unlocked smartphones sold in America. This could mean phones like the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 (4.7 and 5.5), the Huawei Ascend P8 Lite, the Huawei SnapTo, OnePlus 2, Moto X Style (aka Moto X 2015 PE), Moto X Play, HTC One M9 Unlocked and Developer Edition, Saygus V2, and various imported phones (ie, some global unlocked Sony or Samsung devices) or unlocked branded AT&T phone models may lose band 12 support in future software updates. The fact is, we don't know what will happen, or to which phones, or when. Some manufacturers may choose to get T-Mobile VoLTE certification (Motorola has hinted as much with the new Moto X 2015 PE), but many may also simply choose to quietly disable band 12 for T-Mobile in software updates. Motorola, as we know, has already done this with the Moto E.
It is not clear what action, if any, T-Mobile will take if a smartphone vendor refuses to remove band 12 data support from their device and also refuses to undergo the T-Mobile VoLTE certification process. (Ie, they want to keep B12 data but not bother with B12 VoLTE certification.)
This is basically the kicker. What will T-Mobile do if a vendor says "no way" to dropping band 12 data, but also doesn't want to go through the VoLTE certification process? We don't know. They might not do anything. But they might do something. Again, this is why speaking to T-Mobile about this situation was so frustrating. Not only we were unable to directly quote or attribute any of the information we were provided, but there was also no clarity as to what would happen in the event the band 12 situation comes to a head with an OEM that refuses to "play ball."
It seems unlikely that any OEM would refuse T-Mobile's request here, though, as most of them are also partnered with the company on T-Mobile-branded devices.
We have asked T-Mobile again for an on-record statement about this entire situation, because it would help clarify it immensely. As things stand now, T-Mobile is attempting to put the ball in the court of manufacturers. Which, to be fair, manufacturers do have a role to play here - they have to make the decision to drop band 12 or go through the T-Mobile certs for these unlocked band 12 devices. Or, potentially, just ignore T-Mobile's band 12 requirements entirely and see what happens. Unfortunately, as you might guess, most smartphone OEMs have zero desire to discuss upcoming software updates in detail, or to ever put their product in a situation where it is being highlighted for losing a feature. That makes our job here a difficult one.
We will update you on any more information we receive about this situation, including any response from T-Mobile or potentially-affected device manufacturers we have reached out to.

Offical rom??? if your mean stock rom, yes it possible to have VoLTE, provided your network support!
I'm kind of newb at this S7 stuff, I'm more of an HTC guy. Yesterday, I bought an unlocked G930P (sprint) and am not sure, but think I learned that normally, people don't change out the ROMs to use a different carrier, they simply unlock the phone and live with the old carrier's bloatware. I started reading up, and first learned that TWRP apparently isn't available on a Snapdragon processor, so the G930A, G930P, etc, aren't candidates for TWRP. At first, I was kind of dismayed. Then, I found the G930U ROM and on a whim, I tried punting the G930U ROM to the G930P. I bought the phone off craigslist, and he said he didn't know where HE got it from, but it was unlocked. Anyhow, the phone took the rom without a hitch and now it looks like a U model...
My goal: Go with T-Mobile. Use Wi-Fi calling. Eventually have Nougat. Remove bloatware, but possibly keep some nice T-Mobile add-ons, if any, because I don't have their service yet (I hated ATT's crapload of stuff). Note this isn't specifically a "TMobile" question, substitute your carrier of choice for the questions...

This process I seriously don't understand. Can I run a T-Mobile OS (or any OS) while using an older boot kernel ROM? I would think NO, right?
4. I don't like all of Carrier X's bloatware. I'd rather use a stripped down, cleaner ROM. I guess there are apps for that, but is it cleaner to do it with a stripped down generic ROM that I see floating around?
6. Speaking of ROM's - I saw a lot of Xetheros or whatever ROM's floating around, but it seems like there aren't any for the snapdragon-based ones. Is this true? The posts on this site don't really talk much about the snapdragon-based phones and why there aren't any ROMs for them, and why it won't work, and what, if anything, is being done to get around this. I guess the G930U is Samsung's answer to that, and allows fooling around with roms, but will the other phones ever be actually rom-able, or should I ditch this G930P and actually buy a G930U? Now that my phone THINKS it's a G930U, did that get me around some weird barrier and NOW I can update other funky roms intended for a G930U?

All U.S. models are built the exact same and will all accept each others firmware if done right , so any unlocked s7 you put the U firmware will essentially be a g930u other than the number stamped on the back , I dont believe the U firmware supports wifi calling or VOLTE , There is a t-mobile nougat firmware floating around if you want to try that , your att g7 if it has a hardware issue should be under warranty but if your using it with a different carrier I would flash the appropriate firmware to it and see if that fixes you signal issue and if not put it back to stock and call Samsung , as far as switching from the international model , Well i bought a international edge as soon as they release and it took a crap on me within 4 months and I was unable to warranty it , that was my only issue with using a international model but also i dont think you can get wifi calling on those either . hope that helps
edit* and yes the bands are dictated by the rom , U firmware opens all of them otherwise carrier roms unlock specific , and T-mobile nougat dowgrade back to MM will be dictated by the baseband , I know the Sprint nougat can be downgraded but not T-mobile for sure

I don't believe those features are supported on AT&T (probably at AT&T's own request). Perhaps that might change in the Nougat version but I wouldn't bet on it.
I was wondering if there are different version of the OnePlus 6t. I have seen some called "global", "international", or "T-Mobile" version. I am moving from a LG V20, of which there were 5 or 6 different versions depending on carriers. Are all of the 6t's the same? Can I download the updates and not have to worry about messing up my phone? Thank you!
Downloading an update directly from Android UI will not break your phone (unless you have modified system partition)
Just take the global/international version (a6013) from oneplus.com and you'll be fine
There's two versions, international, and T-Mobile.
International and global are names for the same thing. It's the phone directly from OnePlus. It gets updates the quickest and has dual SIM support out of the box. You can get all the hardware versions (6/8gb ram, 128gb/256gb storage).
TMobile version is only 8gb/128gb. Only in mirror black. It comes with single Sim support out of the box. It has a locked bootloader that can only be unlocked if you get TMobile to SIM unlock the phone (typically once the device is paid off, but people have got it done sooner). So far it's only gotten one update and seems to be a few weeks behind the international version. It *might* have software optimizations for T-Mobiles network. (Dual SIM can be done with an unlocked bootloader and running the international software. You can't take OTA updates and must flash manually)
Sales and monthly payments can possibly make the TMobile version a better deal. If you're paying outright and full price. Get the phone directly from OnePlus. The only advantages the T-Mobile version has is the possible network optimizations (not proven, but assumed), and the fact that you can swipe left on the home screen and access Google feed. You can't do this with the default launcher on the International version. But this is a minor issue. There's trade offs with the TMobile version, but it's possible to be cheap enough to make up for the trade offs. You can look at the (Don't buy the TMobile, and Do buy the T-Mobile) threads in the discussion subforum.

Works great on Verizon.
Use chat to get them to configure CDMA_LESS or LTE only mode. Took about two minutes for me. Otherwise SMS won't be received.

For the factory unlocked users SM-N986U1 as me, we too can obtain these features our brethren received I suppose, if we're willing to flash the SM-N986U build, N986USQU2DUC8 using modded-odin 3.13.3b, all-the-while not forgetting to back-up everything we have as this task involves a data wipe in advance of a clean flash. Also, when dragging & dropping your files in preparation, remember to use CSC, instead of HOME CSC, for this task. Afterwards, we'll gain this upgraded feature due to the fact we temporarily but effectively morphed our devices into the carrier-bound equivalent or SM-N986U for all intents and purposes! We can always revert back to our "old selves" , as we haven't done anything permanent here!
When done properly, this task causes no harm to your handset, whatsoever. If you're inexperienced with flashing firmware utilizing Odin, get someone to assist you, and help
walk- you-through the steps.Don't go it alone if you're unsure. Help is on the way, just ask!
I'm putting this on my weekend to-do list, as it's unlikely this feature will find it's way to the unlocked variant, frequented by us "Rogue" wireless users! Sure, you'll pick-up a little carrier bloat, maybe a half-a-dozen apps in the switch, but that's it!? That's the only downside I see, in addition to the obvious time inconvenience a data-wipe always brings!
It's a bold move, but a smart one, for T-mobile! When you pair that one with their recent commitment to Google for integrating the Google Messages app into their (Android-based)) system app line-up for new device offerings. They recognize the value of the upgrade to RCS messaging and what comes with that, for existing and new tmobile customers alike.
Sure, It'd be easier if this e-sim/dual sim feature was included in the SM-N986U1 OTA March Security Patch Update for the unlocked users, but their heart is in the right place and always with their core users (SM-N986U) I suppose?

Indeed...I wish tmobile would become inspired to share the love with us! It could happen down the road, I guess? It does explain somewhat why it took them so long to rollout the OTA's the past few months. We're on April already, and some of the carrier-bound folks were still on January until this release!
I converted my TMU Note 20 Ultra to eSIM and it works fine. I took out my old SIM as it is disabled by the conversion process. Don't have another SIM to test but it looks like you can use physical SIM in addition to eSIM. From what I can tell, you can add unlimited number of eSIM to it.
Correct. eSIM support is carrier dependent as well as device brand/model. The carrier support must come first then the carrier's devices will eventually get eSIM support. Verizon has a few devices that supports eSIM however most of their phones don't offer eSIM. However, Spectrum Mobile (uses Verizon network) doesn't support eSIM on any device at this time. So don't expect OTA's to include eSIM support until your specific carrier fully supports it. This is why the unlocked devices will likely not see eSIM support for a while; at least not until all U.S. carriers fully support it beyond iPhones.

You should, so long as your provider is (like tx_dbs_tx mentioned) really 1 of 2 players in the game as of now, tmob or vzw.

I got shut down...I tried to flash the SM-N986U f/ware but kept getting this new screen(to me) that was all about the bootloader and wasn't seeing much when trying to search it on the desktop. I was extremely wiped-out from the weekend but it ain't rocket science, how embarrassing! SMH
Anyone got a clue what screen in recovery I'm speaking of...your hooked up USB to desktop I was using patchd-modded ver. 3.14.1B or.3.14.3B newer than my usual 3.13.3B I used on my SM-N960UI n9u1 a few handsets back.
Anyway, tap to bootloader, then it kicks up this screen that asks boot to FRRP?(maybe) and also boot to QSSI?, Other choices were START(which just brings you back to the familiar recovery screen, POWER OFF, and I think that was it!! Odin was locked & loaded, was connected through a com port, etc, just wasn't able to get my handset to say "OK I'm ready Odin, HIT ME? So now,.I'm in worse shape, still on U1 f/ware and in the midst of re-adding in everything back on due to the data wipe (which I wont) cuz I'm hoping one of my trusted comrades is gonna "hook this ole' white boy up" and coach me on what I'm missing here with this "noob shi#" "beginners for sinners" embarrassing momentI had this early am?!smh Ive flashed so many times over on Discords SamCentral,.the one I'm banned from now for almost a yr.now(thanks Max W.) I had a how-to guide under pinned posts on flashing with Odin...I called it "birdman's How-To guide, to Flashing Successfully On Every Occasion."

Yes, 5G is still there. I don't see anything else different than the physical SIM.
I've got a T-Mobile SIM in a U1 Note 20 Ultra. The u1 is an international version, running a T-Mobile SIM & software.
After checking every day, I just got the Android 12 OTA on January 17. Easy update, all of my data and settings remain, and I got dual SIM, which I have been waiting for over seven months.
I know the U version has had the feature for a while, but I didn't. Happy finally.
