GPS problem - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I have a N9005, but expirence problems with GPS.
It finds a fix in a few seconds, but it keeps going to searching. If i use GPS status, it shows im connected to 12 satalites, but after a few seconds it shows 0/24 and it will have to reconnect again
Im one lineage os 14.1, byt same issue with stock rom
Best regards
Solved

Search the multiple GPS fixes posted .
Usual suspects wrong modem wrong kernel .
or GPS.Conf pointing to wrong ntp time server .

I have changed NTP server, i will look for another kernel

I have changed modem + bootloader, changed NTP server. But still the same, which kernel can i use for lineage os 14.1?
If I check satalites with GPS fix, then it is still the same, it disconnects after a few sec

Solved: I used the modem and bootloader from this thread

Hi!
I have a Lineage OS 14.1-20190208-NIGHTLY-hlte running on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (device model: SM-N9005; baseband version: N9005XXUGBPB1) and the GPS doesn't work at all. It doesn't work since the first installation which took place a few years ago. Before installing this OS over the original OS, everything went well.
I have installed lots of applications for debugging the GPS issue but no one helped me with a solution.
Do you know how can I fix this, please?
Best regards!
Mihai

Hi!
I've searched for an answer, without any success.
The solution provided by this thread doesn't work because the links are broken. The other suggestions mentioned here did not work on my phone.
Thank you!

Basics ??
Baseband Bootloader GPS.conf .

Have you tried to restart your router or your mobile phone ? If it still won't work normally, I strongly recommend you to update your modem. That's what we tried for several times sucessfully in office.
I have a similar problem. I just flashed aokp_maguro_kitkat_nightly_2014-01-14 on a SGN and now I cannot connect to wifi on the 5GHz band. The 2.4 GHz band works fine though... Does you problem concern both bands or just one of them?

[Q]work Wifi issues on Lollipop

Wifi at work constantly needs to be disconnected and reconnected. I know this was reported issue on the developer forums on Google's site but I was wondering if anyone had a work around for Cisco routers and constantly having to disconnect/connect to get the connection working.
running the 12/24 dandvh rom with Googy kernel 1.2.4.
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
I have exactly the same ROM and kernel and mine is working fine with a lot of routers. Maybe updating the baseband could help? I've found a pretty good how-to somwhere here, including all needed files (also NON-HLOS which is for wifi), if you don't know how to do this I'm goign to search the thread and post the link here
BTW, there's an update for this kernel avaliable, 1.2.5 is the newest version, maybe this could help, too?
Here you can donwload it, remember to choose the GPE 5 version

Sad to hear that:/ updating to newest rom version doesn't help, too? Did the modem flashing work? You can look it up in setting->about phone->baseband, what does this say? Should be GNK4 at the end if everything worked.

Galaxy S5 Plus (SM-G901F) losing mobile signal and gps after Marshmallow update

After updating to Android 6.0.1, the phone is randomly losing mobile and gps signal. It happens about 30-40 times a day, especially when moving around, like driving . Almost every time I look at my phone, I see "No service, network not found" or "gps lost" messages. After about 10 seconds, the signal comes back and everything is ok again. Very annoying and impossible to use navigation apps, like Waze and Google Maps. I have made a soft reset, a hard reset, wiped all data and cleared the phone cache, checked and cleaned the Sim card. Nothing helps. Before update the phone worked brilliantly. Also noticed, that the signal won't drop when using wifi, the problem occurs only when data connection is on. And I'm not the only one, I have 2 friends with the same phone and the same problem. Looks like a software issue. Can somebody help?
PS. I'm from Estonia, and the software version is G901FXXU1CPE1/G901FBAL1CPE1
Thank you in advance...
Hi mate,
I Have the same device although mine uses a custom ROM but the problem I experienced was exactly like yours
Samsung released a new issue of the 6.0.1 for our phone, PDA G901FXXU1CPF6 CSC G901FPHN1CPF2 you can login to the sammobile site and download it
As I said above I have a custom ROM so I only flashed the modem firmware from that release and worked fine after that!
Hope that will help you!
Thanks for your response! But I'm using a totally stock phone and I see, that this firmware is for Netherlands. Does it work on my phone or I have to wait until the Baltic version is released?

Hello,
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work but just in case make a note of your Access point name settings in the mobile networks tab just to make sure that everything is the same after you flash the new release .
If you follow the steps as described in the sammobile site you won't have any problems.
What I have noticed however is that after I flashed the new modem firmware the mobile hotspot does not work anymore but this has to do with my custom ROM.
It worth trying though the performance of the phone after that is exceptional and the signal strength is higher than before and most importantly, doesn't crash anymore..
Let me know if you need help and keep me posted about your results!
i had that ROM for a while, didnt help in my case, still same issue. I'm currently on XXU1CPG3 with which the issue still persists, gonna try flashing the new TPD CSC ROM (currently the newest) ROM Version CPH9. My baseband is still CPE1, which do you guys have?

Baseband:
G901FXXU1CPE1, I have a totally stock phone with the latest official firmware.
Latest official firmware from where? ("latest" is region dependent)
Ok, the cph firmware updated the baseband to cph, on my side it's only been a while 14 hrs since flashing but it seems the signal problem is finally fixed

From what I understand it doesn't matter which ROM you are using the baseband is the one that causing this problem..
As I said I have a custom ROM and when I had the CPE1 baseband then I had all these problems.
If you flashed the ROM and your baseband is still CPE1 then something did not go per plan I think..
After flashing ONLY the modem firmware from the CPF6 release to my SMG901F is reported that the baseband version is CPG2 however..
This version works for sure..
I might try the CPH9 release now to see if the issues i have with the mobile hotspot will be solved

I'll try to install that CPH9 release too. Let's see what happens, because I have tried everything else.
To me it seems, that this CPE1 version is having problems with switching between network modes. I checked, that in Settings- Mobile networks- Network mode is set to LTE/3G/2G (automatic connect), but I haven't seen H+, H or Edge symbols on top of the screen. Only 4G/4G+ or no reception at all. Like it's locked in 4G network or something. And sometimes when there is no 4G network coverage, there is also no signal. But that is just my logic...
Ok, I flashed the latest CPH9 firmware and my baseband changed to CPH3. CSC Country turned to Netherlands instead of Baltic. And it seems that the issue is fixed!
I made a little test, I went to the cellar to get bad 4G reception and instead of showing No Service, 4G turned to H without losing the cell signal. Let's wait and see...
Thank you guys a lot for your help! :good:

Pliss help me with step to fix it
Hello! It seems all the firmwares ending with CPE1/CPH1 are problematic. You can try some other firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G901F/
Select the firmware what seems best for you, don't select the operator-based ones, like vodafone etc. If you click on the firmware and scroll the page down, you will see step-by-step instructions how to install it. Good luck!
Ok but i can't found latest country band FW have same with indonesia network (except FW country singapure now i using it)
So i'll try to download FW update 2016-09-03
Country Unknown
Build date Tue, 13 Sep 2016
Security Patch Level 2016-09-01
Product code ORL

Problems with nougat.

Hi I flashed my bacon to nougat. Aosp extreme. 7.1.1
But since that I have problems with connectivity.
My internet just doesn't work sometimes and sometimes I can't call or be called. And then it works for 5 minutes and then again no connectivity . and even with WiFi I have problems.
Sometimes. The pages load sometimes not. I don't know what to do.
I searched for fixes or modems but can't find anything to fix my problem. Imei and baseband are visable.
Does anyone know a fix to my problem?
I can't post outside link so I can't attach image of baseband number
Have the same problem over here, some people say they fixed it with flashing c7 modem or installing this

Flashing modem can be a solution for this but using that app,no!
Thanks for your reply.
I tried the heartbeat fixer but it doesn't solve the problem.
Reception and internet didn't get better. Still is disconnected most of the time with a few clear moment every now and then.
May I ask what the c7 modem is?
I tried looking it up but can't find anything.
All I found was m8 modem on oneplus forums.
And yes I flashed a different ROM as well but it stayed the same with the problems.
All were clean installs.
We are not the only ones with this problem, some people already mentioned it under the Ressurrection Remix thread and i have seen some other posts about this. I already tried RR and Lineage, i have that problem for a week now, at first i thought it was because i dirty flashed an update but no, clean flash did not change anything, maybe it will work with a older rom, like cm13, but i am too lazy to try ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
RR is doing great........c7 firmware is with RR, on firmware download section.

Porting the Firmware from the J120W to the J120M/F/G

Hello there,
I want to port the J120W firmware (Android 6.0) to the J120x phones (Android 5.1.1). I have both firmware files and I only see a difference in overall size of the partitions.
After updating my Android Dev Tools I've fixed CSC, boot.img, and system.img. I don't know what to do with the J120W references in the configuration files, I could change those to refer to any other J120 model. Nonetheless I want to test the firmware without said changes and see what odin, or hopefully logcat has to say. The firmware "should" be ready to flash, but I can't seem to find the phone to do so.
If you want to help beta test the firmware, hit me up.
Update: It works!, It's booting up!. Bluetooth pairing and 4G support both seem to be broken. I think I can easily fix that.
wow you already got it up and running, nice! i would love to flash it but i dont have a pc atm. Anyway any progress on the Bluetooth pairing and 4G support?
Not yet, I've tried many things but both Bluetooth and 4G are broken. It also has wifi and battery problems.
It seems like these problems can only be solved by making an appropiate rom from the extracted resources of this firmware. The problem is that I don't know how to do that. I've tried before to no avail.
Hey is this rom has been realese? I want to try this rom (sorry my english is bad )
