Just switched from at&t their s7 edge variant had a built in app and widget for performance which included a task killer, showed battery stats and data usage it was called Usage manager 3.5.23 app
Curious that vzw doesn't have a comparable app integrated with the system or can I not just find it? Is it possible with root to install that and push it to system or does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement. The app wasn't bloat and it actually increased performance.
Actually on nougat I think it was device maintenance...i found it in the simplified settings menu but it seems to be handicapped...no widget or optimization button

After updating to lollipop it seems that battery life is worse. This is a general thread to help in the optimization of battery life of our OPO. Will update often.
Reduce screen brightness: Brightness does not always have to be high all the time. Try to maintain visibility of screen. 15-20% should be okay. Try not to use auto-brightness as well.
Use App Ops: Disable Keep awake and Wake up for apps that drain a lot of your battery. One main app should be Google Play Services.
Disable Auto-Sync: This will help to reduce apps from syncing data often and reduce the battery drain.
Disable 'Ok Google' Everywhere: This drains a fair bit of battery as it keeps using your microphone.
Disable WiFi scanning always available: Might drain battery when screen is off
Download greenify @ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en : This will help you to hibernate apps that keep waking up. Greenifying an app causes all the background functionality (service, periodic task, event receiver, alarm, widget update, push message) of this app will become out of service during the hibernation except when you are using this app. Not recommended to greenify Instant messaging apps, alarm clock apps. Recommended to purchase Pro to unlock more features such as greenifying system apps

Due to the nature of the OPO I'd say the majority of people who come here already know these tips and have moved into the advanced areas of flashing/modding/custom kernels/roms etc. You could always check out the below thread for all guides and tips, or even share your own battery life experiences in the other thread below.

Not really, there are quite some newbies who do not know these tips. Maybe I should add more aggressive battery saving tips?
Please feel free to post in the existing threads. Making new threads only makes information harder to find, so I'm closing this thread. Thanks!
I'm stock rooted with kylo kernel. I have been having problems with aggressive doze in greenify and nap time where my timers don't go off on time. I have tried white listing the clock app but I'm still having issues. Is there an additional service I need to whitelist in addition to the clock?
Did you whitelist the clock app in Greenify only? What I mean is, did you go to the battery and select "don't optimize" for the clock? I was having that problem too, but after I did that, my timers and alarms work fine. I also ended up removing Greenify for now, and I feel my battery life is a bit better. I'm using naptime only, and I may experiment more with these apps to see if I really need them anymore. I'm on stock rooted with Ex kernel.
Greenify is no longer needed since Android 6.0.1 is great the way it is. I stopped using Greenify and still have a great battery life.
I whitelisted through the battery option in phone settings. If you try and whitelist thru greenify it takes you to the same place

I was having these issues as well. I had been using Alarm Clock Plus. I found that there was a new version called Alarm Clock Plus Sleep that deals with the new Doze features in 6.0. It seems like many apps have not been re-written to deal with it properly.
Since the Nougat update, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to view the battery stats/usage.
Now you have to go to Settings, then Device Maintenance (which wants to load performance information each time), then choose the Battery option, then choose Battery Usage. 4 clicks to get to Battery Usage. There has to be a quicker way I'm missing?
Install quick shortcut maker, search for battery then select either device maintenance/battery or settings/battery usage.

Thanks. I guess that's one way, but they really should have had a battery option on the shortcuts that you can edit on quick access. Not sure why they wouldn't.
They only have widget for device maintenance. That's it.

Custom quick settings app has some sweet features. It shows the battery percentage right in QS if you're not a fan of battery % on the status bar (like me, lol). You can also make it so when you click it, it will open the battery settings.
This works on the S6 with Nougat at least: Long click the Power saving mode icon in the quick settings.
Not very intuitive, if you (short) click the icon or the text below you get two other results. And it's not consistent between all other quick settings.
I was searching for Quick Access to Battery Stats Nougat.
In Apex and Nova Launcher there is: touch your home screen for a second.
Add to Home screen > Shortcuts (Apex) or Widgets (Nova Launcher) > Activities > Settings > Battery usage (almost @ the bottom of the list #289)
In Touchwiz I found also a solution by adding a widget called Activity. But I think it's an Apex widget.
Hi all,
I want to use some tweaks of MIUI like restricting app background processes but it is not clear if all this works ONLY when battery saver is switched on?
Can I use manage apps battery usage like Ultimate mode to freeze apps when I am NOT using battery saver option? Or is it mandatory that I need to turn on the battery saver to have any restriction on apps?
TIA
All,
Any way of getting the "old" way to access the doze advanced battery optimization menu, which gave the option to select per application state?
Reloading of applications (in ram) is almost constant and yes, I have excluded them from battery optimization. I have also turned off OnePlus's advanced battery optimization but still several apps are reloading.
I've been testing side by side with a Huawei 20 pro running 6GB of ram and the OnePlus is far behind on ram management. Unacceptable based on the latest hw.

I know Greenify has a link to the list you're looking for under Settings -> Aggressive doze -> White list.
This is the only list I can think of that matches your description.
Thanks. I will try that.
Ps. I have just checked. It seems the white list opens the battery optimization menu. Back to square one...
