How to disable drop down status bar? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

HI can someone suggest how i can disable the status bar including the slide down setting options.
I am using Android 4.4 and it is a rooted device.
Is there a command similar to qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 i can use in the build.prop
Any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated.

[help needed] blank statusbar? ??

Guys m in trouble with cm7.2 !!
I m using cm7.2 custom rom which does not have pre soft keys enabled.. i want to enable soft keys on status bar becoz my back button has screwed up!
So I extract my rom, and decompile framework-Res.apk and make changes to dimensions.xml by enabling softkeys to true and compiled it and flash the rom, soft keys option appears and it works!
But after restart, whole status bar disappears... it becomes complete black and softkeys still works but not visible any icon on status bar???
Plz guys, what part my missing in framework-res? ??? Is any changes shud be made to systemUI.apk also to enable softkeys ????????????
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
Iv no idea if this will work but you can try flashing my cm7 status bar patch file (don't worry about flashing the theme If you don't require transparency)
the patched status bar zip might bring back your status bar
it's at bottom of my thread here

Sorry for not having an answer. But just to double check: I'm on rooted stock (factory image by google), too. Do you also have neither a translucent statusbar nor a coloured statusbar? E.g. my statusbar stays black while having gmail open, although it supposed to be red.

Correct, mine is working the same way...
I think the only option is to decompile /system/framework/framework-res.apk and change the appropriate lines in config.xml. If my copy of apktool didn't keep choking on framework-res.apk I would've tried (and probably failed) already.
EDIT: apktool did not decompile framework-res.apk. Until there's a working version I don't think it's going to change unless Lollipop's built from source.
Waiting for this fix too
Waiting for this too. I had translucent bars thanks to gravitybox before, they caused no smoothness issues. I dunno why google insists in keeping them disabled and make our tablet look 2012....
Like i understand there are three separated (and maybe independent) things:
1) translucent status bar (in launcher)
2) translucent navigation bar
3) colored status bar (in app)
On the first AOSP build i had 1+2. Now on factory image none is activated. Does anyone have more detailed information about how they correlate? And why the built from source version is not compatible with the factory image? Aren't there binary files generated on built which can be exchanged?
I decomplicated framework-res.apk but couldn't find config.xml
I made the change in ./frameworks/base/core/res/res/values/config.xml, built from source, and it didn't work. Then I discovered that I need to change it in ./device/samsung/manta/overlay/frameworks/base/core/res/res/values/config.xml. Gonna try building from source again and see if I can get a working framework-res.apk out of the build.
Aside: man, the update package did NOT like being dirty flashed on top of what I already had installed.
EDIT: No luck. Clean flashed the OTA package that I built, and there was no translucence to be seen. If anyone has any ideas on what I might be missing I am all ears, so to speak.
Thanks for trying! I wish I knew more to be of help..
No need to wait for me anymore. Here's one with translucent decor:

How Do I Disable The Navigation Bar on Oreo?

Dear Sirs
It has been almost 2 years since I got my Nexus 6P, and I always disable the navigation bar for a better usage. Before Oreo I added 'qemu.hw.mainkeys = 1' on Build Pro file via root file explorer. But it no longer worked, If I did, the system will collapse and I have to reflash the system. So is there any new way to disable the navigation entirely on Oreo.
Many thanks.
Best Regards
ChaoChao
I am interested in auto hiding the nav keys. I had a method that worked, but had phone replaced last week, and the upgrade to OREO. I had tried using the adb command:
adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=*
But this command returns an error about Failed executing settings. ''
I have tried Tiles, but that has some annoying lag.

Try issuing the command
adb shell settings list global
to see if that setting still exists.

Anyone can please help..!!!!
In android 8.0 (oreo),i am unable to hide soft keys using "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1".since after this my phone starts doing data factory reset, next time it boots.
I tried immersive mode but soft keys alwayas pops up while using keyboard.
Also tried themer.zip from some xda link,it does hide the soft keys but swipe at bottom where softkeys are seems laggy while performing swipe action in LMT launcher.
There's an app called custom navigation bar, you can try it out, after you did your setup you can even uninstall it.
i install custom navigation bar app,but it failed compatibilty test, what to do now???
I dont want to hide the nav bar. I want to completely disable it so it wont pop up at all anywhere. I'll be using swipe navigation.

If you are rooted stock Feb update you can flash this. A restore zip should be created in a folder called ozop on your sdcard.

PX5 Android 10 Xtrons IB90MTVL

Having an issue with hiding the status bar, no option in any of the settings menu or system menu. The system is not rooted so using most apps to enable immersive mode is non-functional, they also have apps that require no root but the keyboard won't work or it only hides the status bar for the home screen and no all the apps also I have no idea how to adb into the head unit. Wanted to see if anyone here had any clue on a fix or have had the dame issues and has a workaround. Thank you in advance.
I have a new PX5 Android 10
PBX80JCCLTrying to enable developer options, I tap the Build number 7 times and more and it does nothing.
I've tried many things and still nothing.
System is original and not rooted.
I need to see my usb settings and possibly change them.
Can I enable with terminal emulator?
Anyone have any ideas?
