Having a bit of a problem on the latest N4F26T - getting an error when opening the camera, sometimes, then the report / dismiss error box opens up and then the Sleep of Death (assume that's what it is - phone crashes and won't wake up until I plug it into power, even though the battery is charged). Have the ramoops and dmseg files attached if they help.

I did not realize I was having a similar issue until I read your post. I tried to force stop the Camera app, clear cache, data then ensure all permissions are enabled. Then rebooted the phone but still no dice. I don't get the sleep of death though, just the persistent error.
By any means I'm not a Dev, but out of curiosity I checked your logs then saw the following lines after searching within the text using "Camera" as keyword:
msm_camera_pinctrl_init:1247 Getting pinctrl handle failed
[ 2.162145] msm_camera_power_up:1288 Initialization of pinctrl failed
Then I searched for those lines and glanced over an article over at https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/pinctrl.txt. Just my own layman's understanding that "pinctrl" has possibly something to do with hardware. Then recalling that under "Settings"->"Moves" there is an option for "Jump to Camera". Enabling it allows the camera to open when we double-press the power button. So then I did the following:
1.) Turn-off "Jump to Camera" under "Settings"->"Moves"
2.) Access Camera app's "App Info" page, then force stop app
3.) Clear app's cache and data.
4.) Restart phone.
Once the phone was back on, opening the camera did not produce the error and I'm able to use all it's features. So I think it may have something to do with the camera app failing to communicate/respond properly with the jump to camera feature. That being said I have no idea why it happens so hopefully a Dev may be able to shed more light to the problem.
Nice research. I'll try it too and see if that happens here. I think you might be right, I think it happens when double tapping power to open camera and possibly opening while rotating the phone.

I spoke to soon, the error's back. So scratch my shot What I did notice though is that the back camera's likely the one experiencing the issue. I tried using another camera app, as well as FB messenger's photo taking feature. When the error's present, the 3rd party camera software glitch out when the back camera is used, but switches and take pictures fine with the selfie/front cam.
At this point I can only guess it may have something to do with the march vendor image Not really sure at this point. I'll see tomorrow if changing kernels may resolve it.
It happened tonight at dinner also, while scrolling pages on chrome. Going to try a clean install and see if it continues

Turned out to be yet another faulty RMA'd refurbed device. I'm on my third now. Knock on wood, no problems so far. I suspect they just format and reflash and call it refurbed when they send out replacements...

If you get the problem again then try flashing vendor image. That fixed a problem for me a while back.

so i just installed HTC's update that they now pulled. And just tried to launch the camera app and all it does is, black screen with the camera icon then it fades back to the home screen. anyone else have the same problem with the froyo update??
Nope... but glad I waited. Guess ill hold off until next week.
no problems with the camera. It's working fine for me.
I'd try restarting the phone once more. Right after I updated and booted into the system, I tried to make a phone call and everytime I clicked call it just went back to the dialer screen without any numbers input. Restarting fixed this. EDIT: However i just tried the camera and its not working just as you described. >_<
yeah... i just restarted the phone and that fixed it. YAY!!!!! SWEET! SWEET! FROYO GOODNESS!!!!!

Have you tried power cycling? I've had that issue once with 2.1 - power cycling solved it, hasn't happened again.
I had the same problem after installing Froyo 3.26 and I rebooted a few times to get it to work and have had no problem since.
power cycling hasn't helped me at all. I'm gonna try resetting back to stock w/o my saved apps/data and see how that goes. After that, I'm going to try and downgrade back to 1.47 ota (someone in another thread mentioned it was doable.)
Before you do that try to open the camcorder app and see if it opens my friend said it worked for him IDK if it was just a coincidence.
I updated and just noticed the camera does not work. I have tried power cycling with no success.

I tried camera app, camcorder app, as well as the shortcut that was on my home screen. No luck. Also, I believe I'm incorrect on downgrading being able to work but we'll see.

same here i opened every app i have and no issues sorry to hear that bro i reopened the camcorder and camera app twice to be sure and takes pics fine
So, after numerous restarts, I turned airplane mode on so that I wouldn't receive anything while backing up and thus need to rebackup, and plugged my phone via usb to my computer. While the sdcard was mounted in ubuntu, I ran the camera app and it worked. I then dismounted the sdcard, unplugged the usb cable, waited for android to remount it, and tried again and its still working. I don't know if mounting the sdcard onto a computer fixed it but its worth a shot for anyone else having trouble.

I had this issue also with the camera not launching, it would go to a black screen for a second and then go back to the home screen. I was browsing an album of a friend's facebook pictures from their contact card and clicked the shutter icon in the bottom corner to launch my camera and that allowed the camera to work via the application launching now. Kind of strange, but I haven't seen any other issues yet.
1. I've notice that sometimes when I put off the charger from device and 'playing' with it the screen time not counting! only after I turn off and on screen its start counting the screen time.... also if I reboot/turn off-on device, if I won't turn off and then on the screen it won't count the time the screen is on.
Its not happens all the time, but most of the time it is... Why is it happens?
2. Today I had it for the first time (hope the last time also) - I downloaded a game via Play and at home screen I tried to pull down the notification bar/status bar and it wasn't respond.
I tried to change to horizontal mode and it didn't work also, I've checked that touching responds in these areas and seems works properly.
I tried force close launcher still didn't work - the area on this status is changed - the time is update well, also the notifications seems not stucking, only can't swipe it down (one nor two fingers).
The only way I've found to fix it is reboot the device, then it back work fine.
Anyone have any idea why is it happens?
3. On camera (stock app), taking few pictures in sequence with flash on (notice that when I took pictures on low light/dark place while photo taken with flash) rebooting the device. Seems like there is a bug with the flash module. maybe with stock camera app - but when you take few pictures (lets say 10 pictures sometime more, nothing costant) with flash the device freeze and reboot itself.... Why is that?
I'm using stock 4.2.2, no root or bl opened..
Anyone notice one (or some) of these issues? And/Or anyone have any idea why these (or some of these) happens?
Thanks.

Looks like a hardware issue. My friend's Xperia neo used to reboot on using flash. they replaced the phone then.

Maybe, but Im not the only who facing this issue... (about the flash)
I guess you don't have nexus 4 so you can't check it...
Anyone else notice any of the issues that I've mention and/or have any idea why is that happens?
Some people have the flash issue with 4.4 too.. seems like google didn't fix it.
Anyone else face one/some of these issues and has opinions on possible solutions?
Hi. I foolishly updated to NK1 a month or so ago assuming there was a root. Since the update, I've been having some really annoying basic functionality problems with my Note 3 (outside of it feeling sluggish overall). I've gotten around keyboard freezes, input lag and general f-ups in the Messenger app by switching to Textra. The now nonexistent haptic feedback was "fixed" by increasing the vibration length for each key on the keyboard. For some apps, I've sideloaded an old version to get them to behave like they did before the update. However, there are a few other issues that I'm hoping someone may have some ideas how to fix.
1) YouTube will constantly error out when trying to load a video and my subscriptions list. The white circle will just spin and spin until it finally gives me a "video cannot load" error. If a video won't load, it won't load no matter how many times I click on it to refresh it. I'll have to either close the app and reopen it, or for the really difficult times, restart my phone. Also, if I shrink the app rather than close it when I'm done, no videos will play when I reopen the app unless I close it or restart my phone.
2) The stock camera clears its settings whenever it feels like it. Auto flash, face detection and image stabilization will randomly turn from "on" and "auto" to "off."
3) All of the web browsers (Opera, Chrome, default browser) and Google Maps just randomly hang for about 2 minutes as they try to load data from Wi-Fi and 4G signals. It's similar to what happens with YouTube but they eventually fix themselves after these long hiccups.
4) Often when the backlight turns off before the phone is going to sleep and I touch the screen to keep it awake, the backlight gets stuck in its turned off state, making it hard to see the screen. The only way to get around this is to put the phone to sleep and then wake it up. It does this at least a few times a day.
5) Pulling down the notification bar will sometimes randomly cause my phone screen to start flashing between the notification bar and the lock screen. I have to do a hard reset when this happens.
Thanks in advance for the help! I'm sorry this post is so long. I hate this update and am seriously considering going to HTC.
Have you tried a factory reset?
I have not. I was trying to avoid that if possible and use a last resort.

It's probably your best option. But first try clearing data in the offending apps. Or making sure the apps are updated, or even unibnstalling and reinstalling the apps.
Hello all,
I've had this problem for the last few days and can't seem to resolve it. My phone has been extremely slow lately and apps are taking a long time to load up. However, when I needed the camera to snap a picture, I must wait about 20 seconds and the following message appears:
"Camera Error: Unable to start Camera. Check if any 3rd-party apps are using camera resources (such as Torch). Close them and try again."
I have since checked the Torch app and see that the light is on, but no visible light is emitted from the flash sensor. I turned off the Torch and the camera still displays the same message. Going back into Torch, I discover it is still on and I am unable to permanently turn it off. I also don't see any other apps that may be using the camera, so I'm really confused.
If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated
The only thing I can suggest you do, is to make a backup, then do a factory reset. As soon as the phone boots up, then check the camera to see if the issue persists. If it does, it is most likely a hardware issue, and the phone will need to be repaired.
If not, then there's a rogue app that is preventing the camera from starting up, so you'll need to install all your apps individually, to see which one is the problem. Good luck!
Hi folks,
I let my phone (6T, international version, completely stock never rooted), update to Android 11 this morning.
One thing is bugging me so far: at random times, I'll get brief flashes of some other window popping up momentarily (too fast for me to see what it is), and then it goes away. But it throws games into pause mode and takes me out of the flow.
What's causing this and how do I turn it off?
Welll this is not a normal behavior, so noone know why and how. Seems android 11 is not yet stable for us. I rolled back to android 10 on my 6T mclaren
Progress update: this problem seems to have resolved itself. I think it may have had to do with each app gradually settling in. A few reboots and some hours later the phone seems stable, though I'm having a few smaller issues like my phone icon left my home screen, I've now got TWO "Contacts" apps, and other minor stuff.
More update... the popups are back. I think they happen frequently after a reboot then settle down over time. I will keep an eye on it and report back anything I find in case it helps others.
Partial solution: I filmed what was going on in slow motion and despite my hand being in the way I saw the popup said "Gallery kee" presumably "Gallery Keeps Closing" or something like that. I don't use the Gallery app so I disabled it in Settings\Apps. Let's see if the problem keeps up. Maybe other apps are also contributing, and I'll have to address them one by one.
After a full day and another reboot for unrelated reasons, I can confirm that disabling the Gallery app fixed the problem. Not a single popup since I disabled it. Since I never use Gallery, only Google Photos, for me it's no loss. Probably a cache wipe would have sufficed as well. I did a a full cache wipe today to address a Gmail issue, and at some point I'll re-enable Gallery and see if the problem recurs despite the cache wipe.
