Ourtime X01s, TenFifteen X01plus, Omate Truesmart+, Imacwear M8 1Gb RAM 8Gb ROM - Other SmartWatches

I'm opening this thread just to gather all that we know about those watches that have exactly the same SOC. What we have now are different threads were people seldom post and contribute, so I'm going to post what I have. Please contribute what you can even just to post the daily behaviour of your watch.
There is another thread where people have been posting about the Ourtime X01s but it has passed long time since we saw the OP so the first post isn't updated at all. https://forum.xda-developers.com/sm...ourtime-x01s-3g-smartwatch-phone-1gb-t3469741

- ROMs
Nowadays we know that there are 2 versions of the watch. The one with 3 sensors and the one with only one sensor. It seems that the maker wants to use the 3 sensors as the TenFifteen and the one sensor as the Ourtime X01s, but made a mistake and mixed them. So late in 2016 if you bought a Ourtime X01s you could get one of these:
- Watch with 3 sensors, metal back cover.
- Watch with 1 sensor, plastic back cover.
The back is to be confirmed but I don't have enought reports just to state that. At first, the maker put the same ROM in all of them so if your warch is a 1 sensor one and has the 3 sensor ROM you have a watch with a terrible use of battery, the CPU never deepsleep and it gets very hot. If your watch is a 3 sensor one with the one sensor ROM it works fine but has 2 sensors locked.
Unfortunately I got a watch with one sensor that the stupid chinese put the 3 sensor ROM so it doesn't work as you can expect. Don't know the other people, but in my case I'm totally sure that simply loading the correct ROM the watch will work as expected. Update 04/06/2017: Now I'm totally sure that I was right, because I got a 1 sensor ROM and my watch works like a charm. Continue reading....
I know at least 4 ROMs released:
- Aug 29 2016 <- 3 sensors one and came loaded in all the TenFifteen units (not rooted) (Thanks to @VaderMaul) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4oAJ0VFTbAFajd3X0U4UGpKcG8
- Oct 22 2016 <- 3 sensors one and came loaded in some Ourtime X01s (already rooted) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4oAJ0VFTbAFSjZXZmtyYXFZV0E
- Dec 16 2016 <- 1 sensor came loaded in Ourtime X01s (Not rooted, chinese version, no play store) (Thanks to @bigkay) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4oAJ0VFTbAFYWJBcDJOWGJ0VkU
- Dec 16 2016 <- 1 sensor. I managed to clean the chinese app's from the ROM and install google services (already rooted, google services working, no chinese app's) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4oAJ0VFTbAFQkV1SVBBYjYxeGM
- Jan 12 2017 <- 1 sensor (to be confirmed)
Searching for the other releases especialy the 1 sensors ones. If you have one of these please try to help because having the 2 versions all the people could fix the issues that are having with his watches.
Read this advice carefully....
At this point it could happend the following:
- Your watch is a 3 sensors one with the ROM of one sensor. If this is the case, simply loading my ROM your watch will unlock the other 2 sensors and all will work perfect. Lucky you....
- Your watch is a 1 sensor one with the correct ROM. If you load my ROM the other 2 sensors won't work (because they doens't exist) and it will start working bad, having a terrible use of the battery and never sleeping the processor. In this case, you need to download the 1 sensor ROM to turn it back.... if you have a watch with this behaviour from factory, be sure that it came with a wrong ROM. Download the 1 sensor one and give a life to your watch....
You can see the sensors that reports your watch with some apps like cpu-z or sensors test.
- How to make a backup of your watch's ROM:
Make a copy of the ROM doesn't take more than 30 minutes and the watch is not in danger of break or stop working. If you do a copy, please be careful of not share the nvram.bin file or send me the ROM for clean it up and don't share your personal data.
Whatever are you going to do with you watch, you will need the MTK drivers. Download them here https://androidmtk.com/download-mtk-usb-all-drivers (last version at the end of the page)
If your device is not rooted:
You would find a complete step by step guide here: https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-526.html You don't need to do the first part of the guide "build the scatter file" . Download it here instead https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4oAJ0VFTbAFbmtiaEJoMmJtMWc and go to the "launch SP Flash Tools" part. It works in W10
If your device is already rooted:
You could follow the guide above or you would find a complete guide here with another method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730031 On youtube you will find lots of videos also. It works in W10. In fact all my backups are made under W10.
If MTK Droid Tools is not able to see your watch, you need to edit just a file. Do step by step this guide and your watch would be recognized straight. Sorry the guide is in Spanish but may be you can use google to translate all the entire page https://www.hell-desk.com/android-debug-bridge-y-dispositivos-usb-no-encontrados/ .
When you got the copy of the ROM please share here and I'll post in the first post in order to complete the ROM's set.

If you loaded a new ROM with the "format" method, you will face the problems below:
- Change or fix loose IMEI: http://naijaknowhow.com/blog/how-to-change-imei-of-all-mtk-android-devices/
- Fix WIFI MAC changing every time you swich on and off: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730486
- New Watchfaces:
Download and install this launcher https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6GWpu3oqY71TG51WFIxV0w4REU This launcher has embeded a program called Clockskin app https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWI4kovs4bI Make a folder in the internal memory called Clockskin and put inside the more wathcfaces that you whant. Download them here:

https://plus.google.com/communities/109827242607524552712
If you want to make your own clockskin: https://clockskinmaker.codeplex.com/
- Custom recovery:
I have been unable to make the CWM recovery with MTK Droid tools. It gives an error and I can't continue. In other hand, I have been able to make a TWRP Recovery. Unfortunately it is bigger in bytes than the original one so to load it to the watch is necesary to modify the scatter file and I haven't enought knoledge to do this. I left the file in my drive if someone whants to try. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4oAJ0VFTbAFeXozaThHNDR2c00

A 8 gb sd card I use link2sd.

Where did you get the twrprecovery.img file?
To install twrp.img use flashify.apk (Google Play)

My watch also runs at 1 GHz and it deep sleeps no problems, it even wakes once you tap the screen in deep sleep, battery lasts for seven to eight days in flight mode used as a watch only. The rom has a build date Dec 13 2016.

'My watch also runs at 1 GHz and it deep sleeps no problems, it even wakes once you tap the screen in deep sleep' that's true. I use the clock with wifi, gps, bluetooth, facebook, messenger, twitter, dolphin, link2sd, l-call, maps, navigator, runtastic, shaketolock, snap camera hdr, etc ... less than 1 day of battery usage (like any cell phone). My build number x01s_v1.1.
any news about custom recovery?

Same here.My watch is most of the time in deep sleep.
Root with Kingroot V5.0.5.397172 su version v3.79.
Install Kernel Adiutor >Apply on boot> cpu covernor set on hotplug core 1 = 1001/598 GhH , core 2 =598 GHz/most of the time offline.
With g3 always on/wiffi on when it is needed.
With normal use two days easy.
build number X01S-V1.1
kernel version 3.10.72 .Tue Dec 13 2016.

I tried to make the custom recovery on my computer with the watch connected directly and running this program https://twrp.me/ Follow this guide http://www.androroot.com/2015/02/how-to-make-custom-recovery-for-any.html The program was able to build the recovery.img but it was bigger that the original. Try if you want because I see now that there is a new version of the program.

Which brand is your watch? Ourtime or Tenfifreen? In some time nobody has reported this build. Known is the 29 August build and 22 October. The first one is from a TenFifteen and the other one is from a Ourtime. In fact this build is the one that is in the ROM in the first post. If you make a copy please share it. :good:

I think that we have exactly the same ROM but this doens'r work for me. Did you something special to make the deep sleep works? Just install the program and that's it? In my case I have tried changing lots of setting but no chance.

The watch doesn't has gesture itself. May be you can search for an app that use the accelerometer to do that. I don't like this feature because is a battery drainer but try it yourself....

SmartWatch PS-SW308 - MTK6517 energy saving

Good day!
A few days ago I receive my SmartWatch PS-SW308 from cwell-hk.com shop.
Device is very useful. Work fine with Android 4.0.4. But battery is very poor.
If at 6 am I disconnect them from charger with 100% charged, now is 10:14 am and it is already 82% charged.
CPU is MTK6517.
Please help! What I can do for extend working time?
In battery log is:
Cell standby = 51%
Phone idle = 48%
and nothing else.
Happy to answer any questions on the device
Is your email set up?
Are you running ANY social media apps?
Have you installed any additional apps?
If yes then what apps have you installed?
Are you using it as a phone or a companion device?
If you are using it as a phone, what is your signal level like?
Is WiFi on?
Is Bluetooth on and are you using it?
The MTK6517 is a Cortex A9 which tends to be a little more power hungry but hopefully we can help you get some better battery life out of it.
I'll alos have some other questions and a request or two but will wait til after you answer the others.

Thank you for your reply.
- yes, I connect one email - google account with push.
- no. Social software not installed.
- installed only Browser, E-Mail Client, Play Store and Gmail. Other apps is not sunchronise data from Internet (file manager, clock, SIM Manager, etc)
- yes, I use it as a phone, but no calls, no messages... Mobile data is off. Only network idle phone process - I want to know how long its will be work in idle mode ...
- Signal may be variable - in Moscow metro is poor, on the street - good level.
- Wi-Fi - off, BT - off, in the future I planning to use BT headset with that.

Disable push and set the sync time to something more reasonable. I normally set my devices to one hour and have folks text me if I need to check it right away.
Low signal will eat a battery on some devices. That may be part of the issue here.
Set screen timeout to 15sec
If rooted then try a CPU app (may take testing a couple apps before you find the right one) and try to get as close as you can to the following;
Min-216, Max-750, Governor-Powersave, Sheduler-Deadline
Profiles:
Screen Off: 216-312, Governor-Powersave, Sheduler-Deadline, Exclusive
Call State (In Call): 216-456, Governor-Powersave, Sheduler-Deadline, Exclusive
Charging State (Charging): 216-max, Governor-Powersave, Sheduler-Deadline
Also set Play Store to only update over WiFi.

Thank you for tips. I already set parameters as you write above, but receive very small profit.
Yesterday evening I turn off radio module and battery is 18% off charge (about 11 pm). Today morning (6:15am) it is 1% and shutdown when I turn on screen for check battery log.
I think its not rooted. How I can check that?
'su' command in terminal emulator write that application not installed.
What CPU app do you recommends for me?
p.s.: sorry for my very bad english...
Sounds like you are not rooted. Wish I wasn't still two weeks away from getting my hands on a similar device. Hit up the GiGs Samrtwatch thread as the devices are the same. They are talking root and may have some on hands help that I can't provide yet. Once you get root we can go from there. CleadD is also a good dev to ask for help as well.

[GUIDE] Make your Moto G 2014 experience smoother (60fps animations!)

A smoother Moto G 2014 Experience
Now featuring 60 fps animations!
The goal of this guide is to give your Moto G 2014 a bit of a smooth boost without impacting battery or real time performance. What does that mean? Well, getting 60fps animations in most ROMs is just a nightmare after installing a few apps and having some running in the background constantly. We're going to see how it's possible to have better transitions and animations without having an impact on battery life. It makes your phone perform like one of those high-end processors like the Snapdragon 810 or most Exynos processors. (lel MediaTek come on). It really makes you see all the different animations in Lollipop and it's definitely a must for me now after I tinkered a bit.
The only downside is some apps refreshing when multi-tasking. I mean, the device has 1GB of RAM. What can you expect out of this little guy ^.^
What you'll need?
- An AOSP ROM. No Stock/CM12.1
Why? Stock sucks. CM12.1 is bloated with features nobody uses and takes up too much RAM. It tends to lag more as well. AOSP has everything you need with the performance increase. If you miss CM12.1, install Paranoid Android Legacy ROM. It includes every useful CM12.1 feature in AOSP. If you lack the customization, Xposed Framework with GravityBox module can do everything you desire.
- A good kernel
I used Optimus Kernel R6. My personal recommendations are Optimus Kernel, Spirit Kernel and Halogen Kernel.
- The Kernel Adiutor app
Get from the Play Store. It's hands down the best looking and feature bloated kernel management app ever.
- Rooted device
Must have for tweaking.
- The Terminal Emulator app
We're going to need this for tweaking the scripts.
- L SPEED v2.2 REVOLUTION by Paget96
This is the core mod. It makes your device faster while fixing some of Android's bugs and even makes your battery last longer!
You can find it here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/tweak-l-speed-v1-0-02-02-2015-t3020138. Huge credit for Paget96, his tweak is awesome!
- TWRP or CWM recovery
To flash zips and stuffs.
Instructions :
1- You need to flash the L SPEED v2.2 REVOLUTION zip file provided in the download page here in your recovery of choice.
2- Reboot your device and go to the Terminal Emulator.

Here is a screenshot of my Stand-by time with these configs. : http://i.imgur.com/ohHOiJj.png (10% lost in 7h. Suggests 3 days of battery left on stand-by)
I hope you'll enjoy the performance boost without the battery life hit that most ROMs and Kernels do.
See you next time =D
EDIT : After using this, I felt the battery life was a bit lacking but after following some of Duck86's advices here, it vastly improved my battery life while maintaining performance so check his guide out. It's really worth it !

Technically yes, as far as I can see, it is a heavily customised AOSP. Should work fine, didn't tried it yet. I don't know if you'll be getting the same results as me (or better?). But it will help for sure ^^
Thanx for quick reply......i will flash euphoria latest build now( by sarath)...and fr sure i will flash optimus r6 by flashhhhhh......then will try ur mod nd report here!!!!

Looking at the screenshots, I would guess your are canadian or french, if it is the latter then let me point out that the stock ROM contains the EAP-SIM authentication method for WI-FI networks which are widely used in France. It essentially allows you to connect to your carriers WI-FI hotspots without manually entering a username and password (they are stored and communicated by the SIM card). This feature is present on NO AOSP/CM based ROM and only on stock based ROMs, it is an extremely usefull feature that made me stay on stock (even thought I regularly test other ROMs only temporarly) and let me tell you Stock based ROMs fly with super fast animations, and when you install a cutsom Kernel I would go as far as saying that they are the fastest ROMs out there
Should these work on titan prime?,even it being stock it has some drastic RAM improvements for exemple =p

It's actually a feature that I miss of Stock. EAP-SIM authentification for Free Mobile users is really useful. I've a second SIM card for unlimited data though so it's fine. I said Stock was bad because it runs off 5.0.2. If they update it to 5.1.1_r5, i'll gladly go back to stock. 5.0.2 was just a buggy, messy version overall that tried to fix Lollipop RAM issues without having real improvement.

I turned them off because I didn't see the point of a "blackscreen issue". For gaming mode, it uses more battery so I turned it off.

Titan Prime is based on stock 5.0.2. It should work but as I said, stock is on 5.0.2 so your results are going to be worse than mine.
You should try to do it when stock and Titan Prime updates to 5.1.1_r5.
Otherwise, I still recommend AOSP ROMs.
I cudnt find any diff by flashing this...but i need more battery...

I tried your recommended Kernel Tweaks, but I' having a wierd bug with my Music Player (Lantern) just stuttering for a fraction of a second when the screen is locked.
Dunno if anybody else has a Issue similar to mine, but it would be cool to know how to tackle this Problem.
I'm trying some other Music Players to see if it's only Lantern or just the Tweaks.
--Edit--
Just checked out some other Music Player Apps out: all the same some stutter less hard some seem to lliterally pause for a second.
Looks like it's definetely the Kernel Tweaks

Basic FAQ'sAs this grows I will sort this into targeted groups
How do I pair it with an iPhone?
Turn on BT, scan and pair with "X1NC" or "X1"
Why can't I get all notifications sent from my iPhone?
That's a very good question which Apple has ignored regarding any smartwatch but theirs. In short, it's an Apple thing
(something goes here)
Can I use it as a speaker/mic for my phone?
No, the firmware does not support it. This means apps won't help either
Where's the Android companion app?
Right here> Watch Helper Companion app download page
How can I select which app I get notifications for on Android?
Open the Watch Helper app on your phone. Check the "Notification for app message", then tap on "Select Notification.." to select the app you want to receive notifications for
Can I reply to texts when using it as a companion?
No, it not supported
Can I read and reply to emails when using it as a companion?
No, it's not supported. A workaround is to install an email app on the watch and use BT Tethering
Where's the remote camera feature?
Never came with one. There are a couple apps that sort of work but have display formatting issues.
How long does the battery last?
Depends on how it's used and how heavy your use is. As a companion up to four days is possible. As a standalone up to two days possible.
Does it work with my carrier?
The device supports 2G GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and 3G 850 / 2100. Check with your carrier to see if they support those frequencies and if you have coverage in your area.
Why can't I get a working cellular connection?
Usually it's because the APN is wrong. (i'll finish this answer later)
Can I use a third party app like Google Fit for heart rate readings?
No, the device appears to not support third party apps reading the sensor.
Can I install Wear apps?
No
Can I replace the strap?
For the average person *No.
Can I replace the battery?
*No
Can I sync my steps and heart rate data with my phone like the marketing says I can?
At this time there has been no answer to this from any manufacturer and no method has been found
How come the voice input on the stock keyboard doesn't work?
The stock keyboard directly uses "SpeechKB" which uses a China based service that is unavailable to most users outside of China
Why won't the weather app update?
The weather app requires that WiFi be on. Not connected to anything, just turned on.
How come I'm not getting these OTAs folks are talking about?
The OTA service and server seems to have some serious issues. The recommendation is to wait til a full flashable version is released.
Why won't my screen turn on when I get a notification?
It's turned off by default but there is a setting in the Watch Helper app on the phone to enable this.
My watch won't vibrate when I get a message, help!
Open the Watch Helper app on the watch and make sure "vibrate" is checked
Is there some way to use a gesture to answer a call?
Yes. In Settings > Device Management > Call > Other Settings there is a "shake to answer" option.
*For those with good soldering skills, and understanding of RF and patience- check Advanced FAQs
Advanced FAQ's
I have me some skills, can I replace the bands?
Maybe. Band replacement requires one of two things. The first thing is that you be able make bands that you can embed the antennas into. This limits the materials you can use to leather, cloth, and synthetic materials like polyurethane. The second thing is to embed the antennas in the case itself, preferably between the battery and display. It can be done but will have a noticeable effect on signal reception.
I have tools, time and skills. So what about replacing that battery?
Yes. It does require a bit of patience but it can be done. (i will update this answer with battery dimensions and possible guide at a later date)

After a lot of searching here and elsewhere I was not able to find a unit that matches these parameters. The unit was branded as Premier AN-740 which is obviously just a sticker label. Any help with identifying this unit will be greatly appreciated.

Update #3: ROOT!
I was able to root my device using the procedure outlined here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-head-units/ownice-c500-root-t3558760
Using the longer password and with some minor command line alterations (see screenshot here https://ibb.co/njSw5q). Hope this helps someone.
My next goal is to get to the factory settings. If anyone gets the code for that please post it here.
head unit info
Hello, it seems that I have the same head unit. Mine is unbranded and it's shaped to fit a 2008 suzuki swift, however all the codes seems the same.
What I got until now is that 8888 is the boot logo code selection and I can access to the engineering mode menu by dialing *#*#3646633#*#*
I'm trying to perform a factory reset because I accidentally delete the "su" executable and I cannot access it anymore even with the password, howevere there is a factory reset password that I can't find on the net. The next step will be trying to access the "RST" button and check what it does.
Hi Mr. Purple,
Thanks for your code

I can confirm that it works for me as well. I was not however able to locate the FM Radio settings I was looking for (let me know if you find those).
Good luck with the factory reset, and let us know how it turned out.
Updates
I have some news:
The actual model seems to be the witson w2-k7xxx (in which xxx is the code of the shape of the front panel, mine is w2-K7658).

I managed to access the system menu with the code 3711 and here there are the FM settings!
Here follows what I discovered by trying and trying again and searching on the net:
CODES (to be inserted in Settings > software version > small gear icon near HMI):
3711 -> factory settings
8888 -> boot logo settings
6666 -> a chinese text that reports "no update files where found" appears (probably the update code)
7777 -> a chinese text that reports "no update files where found" appears (probably the update code)
0 -> MCU update page
How to access the engineering mode:
dial *#*#3646633#*#*
How to access the firmware update page:
Click the RST button
touch the screen (and move your finger) until a writing appear on the top left
if a binary file is present in the root of the SD card, then the update begins
How to perform a factory reset: (/system partition is left unchanged, only user data is wiped)
Click the RST button
touch the screen with five fingers (and move them) until a writing appears on the top left
The factory reset procedure will begin. It lasts for 10 minutes
I mailed witson for a firmware update (in order to override the /system partition and restore the su executable) but they ask me for a serial number that is written on the unit. I will disassemble it in a couple of days and if I manage to get this update, I will post it there. However it seems that each model has its own custom firmware that supports only one button layout. If I flash a firmware of the same family (w2-k7xxx) but from a different model, the buttons may not work.
Maybe you can find your own model on witson website

Wow man, you've really been busy! I'm definitely going to try out those codes and knowing who the manufacturer is will help as well. The user interface here definitely looks familiar, though I'm a bit confused as to how you were able to discover the XXX code in the W2-K7XXX part number of your unit. In any case thanks again for all the info and keep us updated, especially if you manage the much needed firmware update...

Well, my HU has the panel that fits only in the 2008 suzuki swift, so I used the search engine on their site to look for "Suzuki Swift" and there I got the part number!
However if you have a standard panel maybe you can go in product page, then on the left column select "+ For Universal All-in-one" and see if one of the model is the one you own. In that page I see only 4 Android 6.0 headunit: W2-K7900G, W2-K7927G, W2-K7902 and W2-K7924 (I can't send link because I'm new on XDA, but you can easily find them)
From the photos you posted, it seems that your HU is the W2-K7927G

Yes, I think so too ( Link for anyone interested). It would be nice to be able to confirm that this is indeed the exact model before we attempt a firmware update as flashing the wrong firmware is almost guaranteed to brick the unit (i'll try to search for th exact P/N in the "hidden" menus). Besides, now that I have all these secret menus to play with, maybe I can fix the problems I experience without a firmware update. The biggest two issues are speaker noise while idling (even when radio and music player are off) and waaay too jerky FM reception (unit is constantly trying to find a better frequency for the current station - I was told that I need to lower the FM sensitivity in the technician menu to fix that). If I can fix these two issues, I can definitely live without a F/W update. Did you experience any of these issues or is it just my particular model / unit?

yes, the idle background noise is too loud too on mine. The reception seems fine, just a little worse than the suzuki stock radio definitely usable. However if you find a solution for both, I think I will try it too! At the moment I'm stuck to solve the "su" problem!
sorry to hear that.
i assumed the factory reset took care of the SU problem.

Unfortunately the factory reset only reset the user partition, but the /system partition is left unchanged.
However after two weeks of mails, I finally got a firmware update binary from Witson.
I don't know if it's compatible to your radio, however i mailed to [email protected], they asked me for a product code placed on top of my Head unit and then sent me the update after I provided the code.
Here a picture of the location of the product code on my unit (it's the top side of the box):

Maybe you can ask for a firmware too with your serial and then we can check if it's the same file.
Now I'm trying to fixing a network bug that made my cellular network connect to a roaming operator (TIM) instead of my operator (three) due to a wrong priority assignment.
As always nothing but helpful information from MrDeepPurple (seen them in concert not too long ago hehe). I feel kind of ashamed for not contributing anything.

I plan to take apart the center console in my car during this weekend so I'll be sure to check for that code - in addition to a few other things I've been saving for this event such as debugging that horrible background noise we talked about. I plan to disconnect the HU from all peripherals one by one until I find the culprit. If the HU itself is generating that noise I'll need to rethink my strategy. As for the radio reception, I did find the radio sensitivity setting thanks to your help and lowering it did help a little, but it turns out I've been kind'a stupid not noticing how short the antenna the previous owner put on the car was. With that size it was physically impossible to get good reception, so I just ordered an OEM antenna from the car manufacturer and hope to be done with this problem. The moral of this, I think, is that even though this HU is pretty sh**ty, we shouldn't be so quick to blame everything on it as there are other components in the system. One thing to note to anyone fiddling with the system settings from the codes MrDeepPurple provided, be aware that saving the settings will RESET YOUR HOME SCREEN TO STOCK so if you want to try out different settings do it all in one go, otherwise you'll end up having to replace all your widgets and things to the way you like them about a zillion times.

It seems that the problems never end with this HU - is this bug due to the firmware update?
At this pace by the time we get them to perform adequately they will be outdated.
Anyways good luck and keep updating.

yes, this happens on a random OTA update I received a month ago. I didn't even know that this HU can have OTAs. However I'm not able to select network type (2G, 3G, 4G) anymore because the menu is greyed and instead it appeared a menù with PLMN editing. I didn't even know what a PLMN was before that.
However this menù is totally useless, the selection and the editing of PLMNs is resetted when you exit this menu. The PLMN which has the highest priority is TIM, then comes three UK (why uk? iI'm in italy!!). I read that there is a sqlite db accessible only with root permission that contains those informations so I need root to access it.

You contributed to find the correct way to root this HU that is the most useful information to me by now!! Thank you!
well, it seems that the root procedure doesn't work on mine.
After all the steps on Ownice C500 post (even with the short password on forfan executable and the long one with the su executable) it seems that the root doesn't work. When I try to run the su command on a terminal emulator it returns 1. It's a generic error code, so there should be something missing. However I'm not scared to test it now that I have the firmware update files.
Did you use the su executable in the Ownice C500 post?
Are the other file useless (libsupol.so, sukernel and supolicy) ?

Having performed the root two months ago I'm sorry to say I don't really remember much. However two things are clear from the screenshot (third post in this thread):
1. I used the longer password.
2. Only the actual su file is copied and given execution permissions.
Not sure what's the source of that 'su' executable but it's probably from the link given as I can't recall doing otherwise.
Today I received a new update binary, I will try to upload it soon and check if it solves my problem

I think it's the same head unit, probably the differences are only on firmware release version

This is a common bug, schwrz was trying to solve that but it seems to affect all the radios with the MTK3561

I've never tried waze on it, only google maps and sygic and they both works fine! Well, sygic is a bit slow and laggy but still usable.

The main reason I've put Android in the car is be able too use Waze properly (i.e. no weird phone holding gadgets) so yes, I can confirm that Waze works fine on this HU. Otherwise I'd have replaced it long time ago.
As for the idle noise, I currently tend to think it's a hardware rather than software issue. I'm going to take apart the center console and see what's what as soon as I receive some parts I'm waiting for (for which I also need to take apart the center console - no sense in doing it twice). Will report my findings.

AC8257 base unit - new Firmware + MCU update with Android 11 & Android Auto wireless

Hi,
After struggling hard to find how to update my unit (what doesn't seems possible with USB key in my case ; only with a MicroSD card), I finaly did it.
This new system is Android 11 based, and allow to connect to Android Auto wireless, sounds good uh?
My unit is AC8257 based, and has 8 core, 64 GB ROM, 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM @ 1024x600, but the upload also contains 800x600 & 1280x720px, there is .BAT files that make easyier to pick up the good Android_scatter file.
Here is where I come from first :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And here is where I am now :
Below, a picture of the app/system that detect that my phone is close by and ready to pair with Android Auto. I first had to connect it with wire to show him the way. It now seems automatic.
You can find this wonderfull new firmware here (dated : 20220513), along with the MCU update : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/k2dotip66u7iekg/AAA69Z_ujnTZQMai5TbPXAbma?dl=0

Do you know if this fixes the issue on the factory Android 10 firmware with the accessibility services being deactivated even though I've disabled the apps from battery optimisation?
Hi,
the accessibility menu is available, but how to ensure the service is running?

It's the downloaded services that show up under the accessibility menu from other apps like for AppMgr III, macrodroid, bitdefender and most reboot apps. On my unit that came with Android 10, these services get automatically disabled by some task manager or something.
The killing app system you mention might be DuraSpeed, that's supposed to free up RAM. When my unit was Android 10 based, I had a menu to disable it, not sure it's still the case, gonna check Asap.

Oh is that what Duraspeed is. I thought there must be some other/extra task manager killing it off but I was only looking at other apps that might be doing it. I'll look at disabling it. Do you think the android 11 firmware is better, do you like it more than 10?
Was Google maps slow to open or to start navigation after you enter an address on your old firmware or is it faster on 11?

I think the Os is better, for few reasons:
- a bit faster on startup, I set it up to auto launch Waze when it boot, whats seems to be done easyly.
- better UX, you can choose between 4 layouts for the launcher, and one of them offer the possibility to personnalize 4 or 5 apps shortcus from main screen, what I found really usefull in daily use.
- Android Auto that can work wirelesq, even if I now realize Android Auto is useless when you have an Android unit.. you can do more straight from the unit (if connected online) than thru limited features offered by Androïd Auto.
about Maps delay, hard to say as I mainly use Waze, i don't have enough track records with G Maps on this unit, that I only receive 1 or 2 weeks ago...
I'll add a few screenshots of the launcher, do you want to see particular screens/menu?

I think I might know of the 4 launchers. From an xyauto bundle?? Hopefully which is this one as it's the only one I've found that's even close to the type of layout I need and I was going to try and force load it in the morning on the current firmware.
I wonder who made the original firmware you had that listed the hardware as ac8257, but now you have the bosion b200 firmware I think with android 11, as my factory Android 10 firmware is the b200 already.

How did you go checking if Duraspeed is still part of the android 11 firmware? Do you have any downloaded services under accessibility and do they stay enabled?
I disabled it and the downloaded services stay enabled after a reboot now but something still turns them off once the system has been running/idle for a while.
What do you have to do once you've downloaded the firmware. Do you run some bat files on the PC first?

The file doesn't have all the scatter files for the other bat files. Looks like you saved/uploaded just what was created after you ran the 1024x600 bat file.

hi,
oh. it seems this package is already set for 1024px (vendor did it) but it's easy to adjust
what's your resolution?

Thanks, I managed to work it out and unfortunately this new firmware hasn't fixed/changed my issue with the downloaded services being disabled. But has now added an issue of the hotspot enabling rather than wifi after every reboot even though I've disabled carplay (which seems to be what triggers it)

hi,
i manage to disable this autowifi turn off/ tethering turn on.
on my side it was caused by Android Auto that detected my phone nearby (phone already associated thru wire), i turned off wireless settings on Android Auto on my phone (s20) and it stop turning off my wifi on every reboot.
about the launcher 4 display, are they same than on your prev system?

No, I just had the 1 'ugly' UI on the factory firmware. Not using Android auto on my phone (but I'll double check for any related settings) and I don't even think I've paired it via Bluetooth since the upgrade.
it seems this system (or unit?) don't allow to enable both wifi & wifi hotspot.
in wifi, advanced settings you can try to enable auto connection to wifi.
what I did on my side is paired my phone with bluetooth, and add a script on my phone with Bixby Routines to tell the phone to enable the wifi hotspit when he's connected to the car with bluetooth. As this way when I get in, bluetooth connection is automaticly done, the phone auto turn on hotspot, and car unit auto connect to it... when I disconnect bluetooth, it stops hotspot automaticly too...

I'm not sure how that happens. Did you have all 71 files saved to your USB drive as I initially had some trouble with the upgrade as my PC didn't copy all the files over. Maybe you can just do the upgrade a second time incase it missed a file. I've also read that some of these ac8257 units have fake images, mainly that it says android 10 but it's really 9. Probably needed to use aida64 first to check the hardware but what does the aida64 app say you have for ram?
