Hi, I'm new to rooting. A week ago or so I installed Pixel Experience Rom to my device but didn't liked it to much and my phone was constantly freezing for a second or so. I decided to go back to Oxygen OS with android 9 but keep the TWRP as my recovery and root my phone with Magisk.
Anyways today I got this notification saying that after phone downloads and install the software update my phone will reboot and unroot itself and I should back up my data. /a/DWgVyTK (imgur link)
After using my phone with root I liked it better this way. Anyways because I'm beginner level on this topic I don't know what should I do. I don't want to set up my phone again from the start after the update and I like root but I want my software to be latest as well. Is there any other way to install the update without deleting everything on phone?
Also if I download the latest software update can I flash it with TWRP without deleting anything on phone? Or back up my things with TWRP and install the software and use that back up to get everything back together again? Little bit help would be appreciated.

Questions about your Oneplus 5:
What's your current OxygenOS version?
What's the version you want to install?
For OxygenOS Open Beta just follow instructions in the first post here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/official-oxygenos-beta-1-android-oreo-t3710003
For stable OxygenOS here in the first post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/official-oxygenos-4-5-2-7-1-1-ota-t3627003
There's no need doing an ota update, cause rom files are mirrored on xda

Thank you very much for answering. I tried dirty rom installing but twrp is not seeing my device's internal memory. I'm guessing that it's because oxygen os encrypts my phone when i enter the system after installation. It happened earlier as well when I tried to install oxygen os and root my phone and the time i tried to install pixel experience rom. I decided not to do clean installation as of now because I don't want to loose my data. (i certainly can get back everything on my phone but it usually takes few hours for that). Is there any other way to unencrypting the phone without wiping everything off?
My current oxygen os version is 9.0.2
I was trying to install 9.0.3.

With which recovery and rom are you able to access your internal storage?

I've only tried using TWRP as my recovery, Pixel experience rom and oxygen os rom. The thing is because upon entering the phone after flashing a rom you can't access the internal storage of the phone with TWRP because phone encrypts itself. That means I can't dirty flash it and need to wipe everything out with TWRP then reboot TWRP again and install new rom after that flash magisk and reboot to system and set everything up from the scratch.
When I started this thread I didn't knew how to dirty flash a rom. Now I know and realize the problem I'm having is phone's encryption.
UPDATE:
I have used this guide to disable encryption on my phone. (I tried putting the link to the guide but for some reason i can't. It was on Custom Droid about how to remove one plus 5's encryption) I wiped everything on my phone with TWRP, installed the new OTA with Oxygen OS 9.0.3, flashed the file they provided on the guide, started system, went through steps and checked my encryption status and it was still encrypted.
Entered recovery again and wiped everything once more. Installed Magisk entered my system. (I was wiping everything down because otherwise TWRP wasn't able to see my device's storage), went through all the steps again. Installed Magisk's apk. Checked my root status. Everything was okay but still my phone was encrypted. Downloaded latest version of the Magisk. Wiped everything down once more installed Magisk. Rebooted into my system to see my phone's encryption was still there. At this point I gave up and started restoring my apps, data and everything with it.
Now I can't update my software whenever I want because TWRP won't see my device's storage because of encryption. Basically dirty flashing isn't available for me.
Have you guys tried and find a solution for this? If so please let me know. I would highly appreciate it.

To prevent the OxygenOS to encrypt your phones storage you need to flash no verity patch before first boot(instructions). But coming from a custom rom requires to format internal storage, otherwise it won't work.

I already gave you the link to instructions how to flash stable oxygenOS in the 2nd post https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...xygenos-4-5-2-7-1-1-ota-t3627003/post72799040
Just follow the CLEAN FLASH INSTRUCTIONS and on the 2nd last step you flash that patch which prevents you from encrypted storage.

I've already tried the clean flash instructions. However I flashed the patch before magisk last time I tried it but it didn't work. Maybe because my order was wrong. Since I don't have much time right now. I'm going to try that once again tomorrow this time exactly like on the guide. I will let you know about the results.
Thank you very much again. I really appreciate your help.

Remember to format the internal storage exactly written in the instructions and then flash the no verity patch, otherwise it will not work.

I was looking for other threads in this sub section. I saw this thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/help/twrp-encryption-t3889161
I flashed codeworkx twrp like you said on that thread. Now I can decrypt the phone. TWRP asks me for screen password and when I entered it, it showed me the internal memory. Now I can see my device's internal memory from recovery without wiping out everything.
My previous TWRP was twrp-3.2.3-0-cheeseburger.img
Installed twrp-3.2.3-0-20181227-codeworkx-nocompatcheck-cheeseburger.img via twrp app on my phone like you said on that thread. Thank you very much again.

Cool:good:
Hello,
I wanted to reach out as I am having some difficulty getting custom ROMs to work correctly, and the issues I am experiencing seem to be unique in that no-one else in the ROM threads are having the same issues, so I suspect there may be something I am missing that is causing me issues.
I previously was on an older version of lineage, but decided to take the plunge and try out treble, so I have upgraded myself to EMUI 8.
The version I went to is 8.0.0.369, although the build number shows as 8.0.0.046 (0OXY).
From there I flashed a Treble TWRP - https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8...lopment/unofficial-twrp-3-2-1-0-oreo-t3773970
I then went to try out Haky86's LineageOS 16.0 Huawei P8 Lite 2017 PRA-LX1, but this required me to flash a new TWRP, but I had to do a ADB shell command to clear data every time I went into TWRP. I had a few other issues too, but there isn't much point going into them here. I raised them on the thread.
I then tried out DarkJoker360's LineageOS 15.1 for Huawei P8 Lite 2017 but I kept getting strange issues on first launch (Google services crashing etc)
I am now back to stock.
I can't work out why I am getting all of these strange issues given that most users don't have a problem. Is there something I am missing here?
I am pretty familiar with the standard process of flashing a ROM:
Clear Data & System
Flash ROM & GApps
Wipe data & Clear cache
Apologies for the long story, and thanks for your time in advance!
Thanks,
Charlie
Hey,thats my way.
After brick i flashed new stockrom over erecovery with wifi,in new rom it comes directly the last ota update,bo problem at all.
So i have perfectly installed all rom etc on my pra lx1.
First ive flashed Ascuccius twrp (need bootloader unlocked),from twrp i choosed shutdown device.
Now power on the phone until see the bootscreen with the warning blabla. There ive used volume + to boot to erecovery, there i done factory reset and reboot to twrp,in twrp i format data partition and rebootet to once more to twrp to flash rom and gapps with dalvik and cache wipe after flash, rebootet and have errors like you.So again to erecovery and again factory reset, now in twrp i flashed rom and gapps and wiped dalvik and cache and reboot system, boom, perfect. After this flashed Magisk to root, even perfect till now, have tested 3 times with different pie roms,no issues at all.So i hope you have luck and fun by do it,many greetz!!!
Hello together,
after 3 Days of reading and searching and testing solutions, I have to ask you if you can solve my problem.
I can't find the reason by myself, because I'm new with this topic. I want to install a Custom ROM on my Huawei P 8 Lite Alice from 2015, but everytime I flash any Custom ROM which should match, it ends in a bootloop (huawei logo, then logo custom rom, then huawei logo etc....).
My device:
Huawei P8 Lite ALE L21 from 2015 - Alice
Built number before start this "project": ALE-L21C432B634
Android 6
Emui 4.0.3
Bootloader unlocked with code generated by dc-unlocker
No Root
My prefered Custom ROM is Lineage OS 14.1 and I tried to flash it following the steps in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-p8-lite-t3824247
1. step - Flash TWRP
First Problem was to install the TWRP 3.1.1 linked in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/orig-development/twrp-t3583180
To flash the TWRP image with adb caused no problem. When I boot into recovery, TWRP starts, but when I touch anything on the screen (like swipe to unlock) the System boots (With OS installed it boots the OS and without it stucks at huawei logo). Booting again into TWRP is no Problem.
I solved this problem with a TWRP image 3.1.0-1 from this forum:
https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/root-custom-roms-modding-fuer-huawei-p8-lite.2476/huawei-p8lite-neues-inoffizielles-twrp-3-1-0-1-von-surdu_petru-xda.826139.html
The thread references on the same XDA thread mentioned above, but it is linked to another version of TWRP image. This Version 3.1.0-1 is working good.
2. step - flash EMUI 4.1
I flashed the EMUI Update B896 with TWRP. In the thread to the Lineage OS 14.1 mentioned above, it is described that you need this update. I used the linked .zip.
Steps:
1. Wipe Data, internal storage, system, Dalvik Cache, Cache (all except micro sd card).
2. Format Data
3. Reboot into TWRP
4. flash .zip from SD card
5. Wipe Davlik Cache and Cache
5. Reboot System
After that :
Android 6
Build number: ALE B896
EMUI: 4.1
The updated ROM works good.
3. Step - Flash Lineage OS 14.1
Steps:
1. Wipe Data, internal storage, system, Dalvik Cache, Cache (all except micro sd card).
2. Format Data
3. Reboot into TWRP
4. flash .zip from SD card
5. Wipe Davlik Cache and Cache
5. Reboot System
Result Boot Loop :victory:
Trouble shooting:
I tried to install different TWRP versions, but only the TWRP 3.1.0-1 works.
I useb adb sideload to flash the Lineage
I flashed the EMUI 4.03. I had before and than Lineage 14.1 (EMUI works, but Lineage doesn't)
I wiped dalvik cache and data, cache after flashing Lineage, to fix the bootloop
I flashed versions of Lineage OS 14.1 from different dates and different download websites
I flashed different Custom ROMS - all the same Problem except Lineage 13.0. Lineage 13.0 boots till it is ready to "preparing" apps and than boots again.
Now I don't know what do do and would be very thankful to get some new ideas to try or perhaps a solution
Thank you! :highfive:
The ROM needs Emui 4.1 B895/B896 update to be installed first
Then unlock bootloader, flash twrp then flash ROM
Thank you for your help. I'll try this. So I have to lock bootloader again first?
No. You flash the update with twrp

Maybe I described it not so good in my first post but I think I did it already exactly like that.
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Flash TWRP
3. Flash Emui 4.1 update B896 ( its working on my phone now)
4. Flash TWRP again
5. Flash Custom Rom ( evertime the result is a bootloop)
Or did I overlook anything?
Sorry I didn't read that part where you flashed emui 4.1
Lineage os 14.1 works for me.
Did you try Resurrection Remix OS

Yes I tried RR and Paranoid, but its the same Problem. I'm wondering that the EMUI Roms which are not officially from Huawei work and any custom rom does not. Maybe there is a Problem with the structure of my system but I dont know anything about this stuff and how to find out the reason for my Problem:laugh:
Maybe you know a command for adb or android terminal app to check if everything is ok?

Hello everyone, I'm trying to flash Havoc os 3.0 alongside with BitGaps, but it always ends up in a bootloop (I always wait one hour in the "android" boot screen). My device is the A205G with Android 10. I successfully flashed TWRP using the guide posted here in xda (also flashed magisk), then I flashed Havoc and BitGaps (wiping dalvik, cache, data and system first and then doing a factory reset), but ended up in a bootloop after rebooting to system. In a second try after reinstalling Android 10 stock rom I followed the steps shown in a youtube video (can't post link since I'm a new user) with no luck (still getting a bootloop). In a third try I just flashed the stock rom, then flashed twrp with odin and tried to flash Havoc without flashing Magisk at any moment, still bootloop. Any ideas or suggestions on what could be wrong? I've only flashed one device before with a custom rom so I'm not an expert in this area, any help will be appreciated.
Downgrade phone to Android 9, later flash twrp, then install system and Gapps.

No problem bro. If you have problems, write to me, I will try to help.
Hi,
I used Lineage OS 17.1 Lavender on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. I used their recovery to install the ROM and open gapps. Recently I downloaded the Brave Browser and I wanted to enable rewards. I than googled, that Brave doesn't allow rewards on rooted phones. I decided to wipe the entire phone, since I don't use the root functionality and to re-flash Lineage OS 17.1. I factory reseted the phone and wiped everything, just like I did, when I installed Lineage for the first time. I clicked on "Yes" when prompted that the ISO couldn't be verified, and waited for the flash. After a while I was "greeted" with Updater process ended with Error 7. I did some research and found out that it is something to do with the updater file verification and that I should try and delete some lines. I did that, but the error persisted. I than decided to try another ROM. I used Pixel Experience since it was working on my device before. Unfortunatly I had no luck. Same error message. I than tried to flash TWRP with fastboot, which worked. Wiped my device, just like they say it in all the guides (Dalvik, Data, Cache) and tried to flash Lineage (still no luck), than PixelExperience (still no luck) and Magisk worked. After I flashed Magisk I tried Lineage and Pixel once again, but still the same error.
If you know, how to fix that error I will be so glad. Is it possible that my device is bricked and beyond recovery? Thank you in advance.
update your tvvrp
Which firmware do you have installed? Use stable to maximum compatibility, on some ROMs if you have latest you gonna get that error. Also, use the latest TWRP or Orange Fox.
As Tatoh said, this error occurs when you have old firmware flashed on your RN7, some roms require specific version but usually flashing latest stable will give you best compatibility, here you have xda links to latest xiaomi firmware files: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-7/development/firmware-xiaomi-redmi-note-7-t3925871
