Hi. I have a G900A whose battery life became terrible. I have done a factory reset AND bought a new battery, and it became better (if before that when I would turn it off for night it will fall from 100% to 86%, now it's to 94%) but still, even with minor usage I have to charge it 2-3 a DAY. My android version is 5.1.1, and after a google search and in sammobile the newest version was 4.4.2, so I thought if anyone has a link to the 6.0.1 version. Thanks!
Hello Guys,
Well, I wanna downgrade my OS on my S8 Plus. Why? Battery life sucks. I have the latest update and it still drains my battery like hell... I get SOT of 3/4h at best... sometimes 5h but depends alote!
Im a heavy user and ye, Im coming from a Mate 10 Pro and I do regred it because of the battery life (only that was stronger on the Huawei). Since I don´t own money to go to the P20 Pro, I have to stay on the S8 Plus.
I already have the correct Firmeware and I know how to use ODIN.
But, when I try to flash it, it gives me error (not a specific one) just a error saying fail... and doens´t do anything.
When I bought the phone, it came with a dumb version of a country and he even hadn´t any update since July 2017. So I changed the ROM to my country ofc with no problems at all using ODIN. Now getting to downgrade part... I just can´t, always saying fail.
What Im doing wrong or is something missing?!
I did compare the firmeware and it is for my model/version!
From what I read, the new OS doesn´t let me downgrade as security messure, so guys HOW do I downgrade STEP by STEP?
I spended alote time on Youtube/Google and 0 luck or sucess... !
I do miss my SOT of 6/7h on the 7.0 of the S8 Plus!
Thanks for so much amazing work. I have a Snapdragon 950U1 that still has V2 Bootloader and Nougat/7. From as much searching and reading as I can find here, it looks like the current choices for updating are:
1 - Root and be stuck at Nougat with 80% battery charging
2 - Update to Oreo or Pie, and permanently lose the option for root
Do I have this right? There's no way to get to Oreo and keep root?
If so, which would you recommend? Is Oreo/Pie worth it?
You can update to Oreo or pie and still have safestrap TWRP with Jrkruise mods.
Is it just me or battery backup is drastically reduced in oreo (December 1 security patch) update?
I'm having the same issue, 5% drop each 10 minutes or so of stand by
Can anyone give a configuration for any kernel or anything for this problem? Pls
me2
sad
same here, i am on full stock phone, never unlocked bootloader and because of this drain i am thinking to downgrade to nougat but i'm afraid to something go wrong in the downgrade
Wow really. I guess I shouldnt upgrade then. I'm currently on stock 7.0
Hello,
1.Can we downgrade to 7.0 from 8.1? If yes,how?
2.Problems which may arise during downgrade?
3.If no why?
I'am fedup with the performance of 8.1,bootloops sometimes, network problems, and majorly battery backup and low volume issue.
#TIA

Did you installed the twrp version of an Oreo rom or which rom do you have. Did you have an unlocked bootloader? How did you update to oreo?
Upgraded to 8.1 (stock)through adb,i have bootloader unlocked and also have twrp.(no custom rom installed)

You cannot downgrade the bootloader if you flash the stock nougat rom by fastboot, otherwise it's hard bricked.
But I don't know if stock nougat rom will work with stock oreo bootloader @echo92, you know it maybe?

If stock Oreo is downgraded to Nougat, the bootloader may work with either firmware, I don't know for certain. However, OTA updates must be avoided if there's been a downgrade to Nougat or earlier (unless you're using the Oreo OTA); attempts to use old OTA updates on downgraded firmware is a great way to hard brick (and currently without recourse - we do not currently have a working Oreo blankflash).
However, if you downgrade your firmware, I am concerned you may lose SIM access/IMEI, given your baseband is on .77R (Oreo), whereas downgrading to Nougat would result in a baseband of .62.02R due to changes between the 2 basebands. You may have to consult this thread if you do lose your SIM/IMEI https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/guide-moto-g4-plus-imei0-issue-t3859068
@anhoxhrs Have you considered replacing your battery, or at least ruled out battery issues like a failing battery? I'm just wondering if the bootloops and poor battery life may be due to the battery. Also, when you updated to Oreo, did you clean flash or factory reset your device?
The SOT has reduced by 30%,and most of the battery is consumed by mobile standby(weird). Its a clean flash. being my primary phone, 8.1 is troublesome.Yeah the battery was pretty good before the update.Chargeing time also has increased.for eg- 95 to 100 about 1/2 hr to 45 mins.
