Why won't Netflix work properly? Do show us any errors and with that I'm pretty sure we will have a workaround that is easier to deal with.

Download the MF8 firmware, open the zip file and look for the file recovery.img

have you copied all the files and edited the boot.img, updater-script and build.prop?
I have the same problem, I have tried in various ways by various guides and the best result and had blocked the bootanimation.
I tried it with stock and CM11.

If it's not in system/media then it can only be in system/product/media.
If you are on a OneUI ROM, don't bother looking for it because it's totally useless.
Only replace on AOSP ROMs.

Nope, I used the TWRP file manager I don't know if phh's SuperSU works for LOS so I don't want to try
