Make sure that the APN is set correctly in Settings > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names or similar path.

APN Settings are normal..
But cannot use the internet
Make sure APN is normal, then reboot. If nothing works, try to wipe dalvik cache and cache. Boot may take a while. Once it opens, check if Mobile Data works. If not, disable, enable. If not again, delete APN, create APN, make it active, reboot.
Waiting for your reply.

Hi!
I could not find an App which saves and restores WifiSettings so I tried and wrote my first Java Application... :-D
This is currently Root-only and tested on an HTC Desire (Rooted Stock-Froyo), so please, to be on the safe side, do a nandroid-Backup before you test this on your device (!!!). The backup should not damage anything, it basically copies your wpa_supplicant.conf to your sd-card, but I experienced problems when restoring the settings _before_ enabling the Wifi Connection for the first time after a full wipe (probably something with file permissions, I'm working on that).
Instructions
- Install apk as usual
- Press "Backup" to save your wpa_supplicant.conf on your SD-Card
(for testing - delete some wireles networks you can restore manually, for example your home network)
- Press "Restore" to restore your wpa_supplicant.conf in place
The app disables your Wifi before and reanables it after the restore process.
I suggest, because this is not yet tested well, you do a nandroid backup and don't blame me if you didn't and after restore your wifi won't start anymore...
I hope this is of use to someone...

Confirmed to work on:
- HTC Desire Stock (rooted)
- OpenDesire (4.0.x)
Changelogplaceholder
v0.2:
- (hopefully) fixed the "Could not find Wifi-Config"-Error
Android 2.2 backs them up automatically under your gmail settings. This is a great app for people under 2.2 and for others who don't let Google store their backups. Good luck. Will be following this thread.

Dammit...
I actually didn't know that google does that. But could you tell me how you can restore them after a factory reset? I couldn't find any option for that and did not notice my wireless configurations to magically reappear :-/
Regards
karoodee
Been looking for an app that does this for ages. Its a nightmare to keep inputting wifi access codes after a wipe and new rom install.
Cheers
EDIT - Tried it but it does not work. Says cannot find wifi config file. Never mind!
This is on a desire running Modaco R8 Rom.
Wifi config file is located /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
@beady_uk: Could you try the new version I uploaded to the first post? That would be nice... :-D
- REMEMBER, because this is pretty alpha, to do a nandroid-backup before restoring, it could be that your wifi cannot be enabled if something goes wrong :-/

Did you get the correct gapps from here? The universal one...

What data.. mobile internet data ?
If so, go to wireless settings and under mobile networks check whether u have correct access point or not.
If needed u must manually add access point by asking the service provider for settings. Actually the settings will be automatically configured. But check again.
And if u don't get market after adding gmail account, then try to reflash the correct universal cm7 google apps package again.

In the worst case just take your sdcard out of your phone, go to a computer with internet access, download gapps an put in on the root of your sdcard, reboot the phone in recovery and flash the zip.
EDIT: Wait.. you say you have already the latest version of gapps and you.. euhm.. sorry, what is your question exactly?

Now I knew that I don't have market because I didn't sign in Gmail account. But my phone cannot access to mobile data like bharatgaddameedi said. But when I opened access point name in mobile networks, it blank man!Nothing in there, just a black screen.
Press Menu Button there > New APN, and fill out the details as provided by your service operator. Then you will be able to access mobile data (2G / 3G) as expected.

Can I restore the stock rom and write those details down, and then restore the CM7 to fill them???

Exactly. That's the best thing according to me.
Service providers will tell that they will send a settings msg and that comes after many many hours sometimes. Sometimes they say that device is not supported. What a joke....? Its better to do things on our own (atleast when they can be done). ---- and only if u have made a nandroid backup of stock rom.

I have another problem... I'm not able to put widgets of different apps on the home screen.....any help with that ??
if the apps are moved to sd card, i think that their widgets don't work, move the apps back on the phone and try.

really don't know, sorry
No, its an Android limitation.
Dta2sd should help. Apps on SD with widgets working.

I know this sounds crazy, but I had the same problem and I had to re-freeze apps using Ti b/u.
I selected different APNs and even used an app to import all new ones.

I don't have TI on here because it wiped the apps, and I have to way of downloading it. I tried flashing a radio and it did not work. How do I set up an APN?
Ugh, try resetting your APNs or w/e?
Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks - > Access Point Names -> Menu -> Reset to Default
Same thing happened to me. Then I installed HKTW 2.3.4 and got my data back.

yea i goog'ed for att apn, entered in manually got data I believe...haven't got much sleep ^_- Later on I DL'ed ginger HK and ALL apn's (hsdpa, tether, etc.) were there for me afterwards.
Hey guys I'm new! Nice to meet all of you.... here are some things you can do to make this great rom even more functional on the r800x.
1. WIPE YOUR SYSTEM ENTIRELY... Data, Cache, Dalvik.. the works. Install KA12 first, followed by doomlord's wifi modules (I used the most recent test release for the 2.34 verizon upgrade and they worked like a charm.)
2. Let the system boot up.. you will most likely get some kind of error, or it may take you to the setup screen... either way, at this point, return to CWM, and wipe your dalvik cache. Next Install the CDMA patch 9 (I used the non-modded version)
3. Install google apps, and any other KA12 zips you desire to flash. When you are finished flashing, clear both cache and dalvik.
4. Now install KA13 over KA12 system meaning DO NOT DO THE FACTORY RESET.
5. You may want to reflash the wifi modules, I do not know if it is necessary, but I did it to to be safe.
6. Reboot the system, and complete set up.
7. Using root explorer, go navigate to the system apps directory, and find a phile called SEMCtelephonyservice.apk (or something very much like that).. make sure root explorer is set mounted to R/W and then simply click on this app, and open it with the APK handler or simply click install. It will tell you this app is already installed, and you are replacing it. Say ok. Now go and try your dialer. You should only get one force close after making a call now, and it should go away forever after this... No more phone force close yay!!
8. While your in system apps folder, go ahead and delete the USBconnectivtyux.apk (or something like that) ... don't worry.. this has no effect on USB connectivity at all, it still works fine... and guess what.. NO MORE FORCE CLOSE WHEN YOU CONNECT USB!
9. With your wifi connected, go to the play store and download a free app called APN manager... install it. Once you have opened it simply import the APN settings for verizon onto your phone, and reboot your phone. Once rebooted,(you can turn off wifi now) open up your mobile network settings, and make sure you have mobile network data enabled... I allowed national roaming, I'm not sure if you have to.. then click the APN settings... you should see Verizon in there now. Make sure to click that circle to turn on those APN settings.. This will get your sms/mms up and running.
10. Finally, to get my 3G icon to show up I had to redownload the SETDNS app... I got the pro version... and when I enabled google DNS, I immediately got a 3g icon in my status bar. The second time I ran through this, I did not immediately get a 3g status icon.. If this is the case for you, just simply toggle airplane mode after setting the DNS, and your 3g should eventually kick in. If you do not get a 3g icon, my understanding is that your data works even though you can't see it, however you will have trouble downloading apps.
Thanks dude.

Is there any software that monitors our usage of tethering (snitching to AT&T for those of us without a tethering plan)? If so, what is it?
Software will prevent you from tethering without a tethering plan (or code to bypass those checks).
The only way AT&T knows if you are tethering is if they decide to investigate packet data. They can tell if the requests originated from your device or some other system (like a PC or tablet). AT&T will look deeper into your packet data if your usage raises a flag for them.
not my method, but ES file explorer will bypass checking your tethering provision and create a hotspot.
1. make sure you have WiFi off, the app won't do that automatically.
2. launch es file explorer.
3. press the menu button > tools > net manager > create a hotspot network.
4. enjoy.

I had mine rooted but this didn't work either. I don't have ATT so that might be why... I would really like to use the hotspot and tethering in the stock menu but I guess I'll have to wait till there's custom roms out...

It didn't work with my T-Mobile SIM, it just kept saying invalid SIM and turning the hotspot back off. It's not that big of a deal, not enough for me to take the phone back anyway!
I really like the framework mod btw, so thanks for that!

1) disable "TetheringProvision" using AppQuarantine
2) Use EF File Explorer to enable a mobile hotspot
3) You still get an error message that settings stopped responding but the hotspot stays active.
I am rooted, of course.
Thank you!
