new to odin & flashing. some info needed - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi,
I have an S7 edge olympic edition straight from the games in Brasil.
It hasn't received any updates since September whereas ZTO Brasil has released multiple updates since then, as well as my provider (Proximus - Belgium).
The CSC code is G935FYTO1BPIF (notice the Y instead of the standard Z).
I'd like to flash the latest 6.0.1 firmware for Belgium - Proximus, but am afraid to brick my phone.
Can anyone tell me which steps I should follow? I found on this forum for example to not use the repartition option in Odin. But in another tutorial they indicated to activate it. Do I need to change some files or not (CSC_Home),...?
Also the multi csc firmware stuff only adds to my confusion.

Bumping the thread. I'm not flashing anything on my phone until I have a decent answer from you guys

1)You can flash stock firmware for you specific device and country using sammobile.com as a free member registration* Remember to download latest stock firmware for your specific model number and country, you can find your model number printed below on back panel of your phone*
2)Go there in firmware section and enter your device model no and country..( Save it to pc and extract it on your pc in particular firmware folder, you will now find tar.md5 file in that folder)..Now download latest versions of odin and Samsung usb drivers for your device( Extract those files as you did with firmware, install latest usb drivers on pc)
3)From your phone's setting>about device>software info>press build version for 7-8 times continuesly to enable developers option
4)You can find developers option below setting>about device..From developers option select oem unlocking and usb debugging enabled
5)Now connect your phone to pc in download mode( Press volume down+home+power button simultaneously, you are now in download mode..press volume up button to continue)
6) Run odin as device administrator on your pc from odin extracted folder, let pc to install device drivers and your device will be highlighted in odin..
7)Add previously extracted tar.md5 file of stock firmware in AP tab of odin, give it some time to be ready..In odin options let auto reset and reboot options checked..*Dont check repatriation option*
8) Now click start button in odin, flashing process have been started..Sit back and relax untill firmware is being flashed..After that your device will be automatically rebooted and you will have latest stock firmware on your device..
*DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK NOR I NEITHER ANYONE FROM XDA FORUM WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE OR BRICK OF YOUR DEVICE*

You can use SamFirm for free and high-speed download of Nougat (Model: SM-G935F, Region: PRO). Since you do want to change CSC for best experience in Belgium you can just use the set you downloaded and flash with Odin (a factory reset will be performed, use the standard CSC not the HOME one). There's no need to flash as admin or set OEM unlock. Keep in mind all olympic specific goodies won't be available afterwards anymore.

Just to put things clear: it doesn't matter which firmware I download as long as it's for an SM-G935F with exynos processor.
I do not use CSC_Home but the normal csc file and afterwards I have a standard s7 edge, correct?
And the chances of bricking it are quite low using Samfirm?

Yes, as long as you use a firmware for the Exynos S7 edge and flash it with Odin chances are towards zero to brick something.
The HOME_CSC is only relevant if you flash something with same CSC as already installed as you do not have to perform the mandatory reset then. This is, however, not your case.
Where you get the firmware is up to you, there's fw.updato.com where you can download from Google Drive (you need to use a trick if Google thinks there's too much traffic), there's sammobile.com (fast download costs money) or SamFirm (still works despite being deprecated). However, all three options are basically maintained by the same team.

Thx for the answer.
As samfirm is deprecated and there seems to be a problem with the fw.updato.com I'll go for the sammobile option.
Leaves me with the question: which options to use when flashing via odin?
I suppose droidhacker's guide is the one to follow: In odin options let auto reset and reboot options checked..*Dont check repatriation option* And with repatriation I guess repartition is meant Can you confirm this?
EDIT: if you're saying 'same CSC', that means from the same carrier? Does this mean in theory that I can flash any other Brasil (ZTO) firmware - which would then be a default s7 edge firmware, but without having to reset my phone? The CSC codes that sammobile mentions are each time different per fw version
Code:
Date Country Version PDA CSC

You click BL, AP, CP and CSC and select the appropriate file (for AP ist may be that it seems Odin hangs but just be patient as this is the biggest file to be read). If device drivers are not installed you need to install them, too. Put the phone in download mode (Switch off, then Vol down+Home+Power together and confirm with Vol-Up). Connect your device and click "Start".
I do not adjust any other settings (Options Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time is ticked by standard, Pit tab is not used). The Re-Partition does not matter in case you plan a reset or need to do so it just should NOT be ticked if you want to keep your settings (along with matching HOME_CSC). This is based on Odin 3.12.5 from odindownloader.com.

Thank you for the clear answers and the help provided. I'll give it a try tonight.

It's basically fairly easy... if any questions just post here. (-:

I'm on UAE firmware can I flash just another county's CSC? I'm in India. Or do I need to flash the whole firmware? Is there a way to flash CSC without a factory reset?
*have been asking all these for a long time in different threads and not getting a reply please help me out *

BTU references the CSC code which determines the locale settings of the phone. To change the CSC code or what I refer to as the "regional carrier settings", enter the following code:
*#272* [IMEI #] # (without spaces)
This will bring up your regional carrier settings at which point, you can select the 3 digit code which refers to the country/carrier you wish to use the device on. For a list of carrier codes in alphabetical listing, refer to the following link:

Hope this helps!

It should work without issue: As an example, press *#06# on your device to obtain your IMEI number which will be 15 digits in length from left to right.
Once obtained, you would enter *#272*(IMEI#)# so as an example: *#272#123456789123456#
This would bring up the regional carrier settings. Hope there was just a typo and this works for you.

There's essentially 3 parts to your Samsung Galaxy Note 3:
PDA, PHONE and CSC. The PDA is the firmware (software) in your device, the phone is the modem (2G/3G/4G/LTE) etc... and the CSC is the Consumer Software Customization.
The PDA is your software the phone is running and your GUI if I can put it that way. The key components of the device are the Phone and CSC. The phone is the modem of the device which communicates with the network for wireless voice and data connectivity. The CSC is the software that configures the communication between your device and carrier specific network when it comes to data speeds and network connectivity.
You should be able to use the method I suggested to change your consumer software customization (CSC). If this does not work, try this:
Boot into TWRP by powering off your device and once off, power on using Volume Up + Home Button + Power Button (all at once). When you see the Galaxy Note 3 logo, let go and it will boot into TWRP. Once in TWRP, press the corresponding buttons to data wipe/factory reset and wipe cache. Once done, press the button to reboot and try the *#272* method. If this does not work, try the following:
This software application will manually force your CSC since you've rooted your device:
Download and install the busy box application: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox
The above is needed for the CSC Changer App to work
Once installed, download and install CSC Changer App: http://d-h.st/IpA
Open the CSC Changer app and select “Change CSC”
This will take you directly to the available CSC codes list on your device. Please note that you will be able to see many codes only if your device’s firmware has multi-CSC
Select your desired CSC and tap on “Install” option
You device will now reboot and when it wakes up, it’ll have the new CSC
Hope this helps!

Correct! Make sure the BTU ROM is one which supports your model. Once you have made the change, follow my link regarding ROOTING etc... and hopefully you'll have completed everything successfully. If not, report back with your results and I'll try to help where possible.

i have attempted to flash the BTU firmware.. it comes back saying invalid system.img4 file.
Bare in mind my phone is the 16GB model.. do BTU models only come in 32GB? is this the cause of it? Any way around this?

OK, I am new to this as well but a bit confused by your post. BTU just refers to the CSC code of your device which tells it how to implement the CSC (Consumer Software Customization). Since you are unable to load a specific carrier ROM onto your device which will enable the features you want (which are currently crippled), what I suggest is for you to change the CSC code. Once this has been completed, load TWRP and wipe the device completely and also wipe the cache. Once this has been completed, it's recommended you download a ROM which supports your model but enables the crippled features you want to ensure are enabled. Once the ROM has been loaded, use the CSC program if the *#272* method does not work and for the CSC, change it to reflect the 3 digit code for the ROM you just installed. At this point, you should be operational.
Hope this helps!

I'm misunderstanding something here. BTU just refers to the CSC as I understand. To further assist, please go into your Settings | General | About Device and let me know what your Model Number and Baseband version are. At this point, I will further research and hopefully provide enough information to get you up and running.
There should be no reason your phones in an incapacitated state.

I have successfully flashed my UK BTU to HK TGY
I had the same issue with I trying to flash with odin at the beginning (1 file that included Bootloader, AP, CP,CSC ) then I have done some research at a chinese forum and discover the way around it.
I was given the link for the same TGY firmware but this time is split into 5 files (BL, AP, CP, CSC) instead of 1 whole file. I played with some setting as I still having Big Fail on Odin.
Then I tried to flash just AP,PC,CSC without BL and Viola is work
Now my Note 3 is running TGY firmware
..
i have also TGY note 3, after flashing Omega rom, my firmware became:
AP: N9005XXUBMI7
CP: N9005XXUBMI5
CSC: N9005OXXBMI4
no idea which region the rom is, but it doesn't matter about internal memory sizes (16/32/64)

OXX mean multi.csc from some European Countrys like mine. You can see the CSC working on system/csc/sales_code.dat.
But BTU is included on OXA multi.csc.
Try flash this on recovery and You have BTU by default. (For me work, but flash at Your risk and reponsability).
Link Deleted. Sorry
To validate the new CSC You must reboot by recovery and make full wipe (data + cache + dalvik) and a new configuration.
Before this make a Nandroid Backup and copy Your efs folder to Your extSdCard and to Your PC.

G900F O2 de-branding

Hello pros,
I have a S5 (G900F), bought in Germany that has a provider branding from O2 (VIA) I want to get rid off.
After searching and reading many many many threads I wasn't able to find as "safe" solution. There are some threads, where people were able to flash a stock firmware, but it was BTU. Some managed to flash the DBT, but with errors during procedure, workarounds etc.
Since the key to flash from VIA firmware to another seems always to be the correct PIT file and the PIT files also seem to come from this forum I hope to get some professional help to solve my problem. I've already read enough contradictory statements from people who think they might know something, but I'm looking not for assumption.
Here is data from my S5:
AP: G900FXXU1ANG2
CP: G900FXXU1ANG2
CSC: G900FVIA1ANG1
So I have Android 4.4.2 and would like to flash a 5.0 DBT and to keep the KNOX of course.
1. First I wondering why it not working to flash the DBT fw on a VIA S5 with the "original" DBT PIT? If the VIA phones have a different partition layout the PIT for DBT should solve this or not?
2. The most promising solution seems to be use the DBT (it's not state from which to which version the update was done) with special pit version for s5 (also not clear which one was used). When flashing with Odin at the end always a failure message will be displayed. Then disconnect and reconnect the phone and to flash only the PIT after a restart to wipe all. But as mentioned earlier that doesn't sound like a "safe or proven" solution.
Here is the link-> (German) handy-faq.de/forum/galaxy_s5_original_roms_firmware_kies/306126-samsung_galaxy_s5_branding_entfernen_sm_g900f-18.html#post2926313
3. Suppose I use the solution as described in 2. and flash the first 5.0 version (...BNL9) and then perform a update using the build in updated function on my S5 (no Odin, Kies, etc. ) to the second 5.0 version (...BOB7) will the update clean up the possible mess I've done using the procedure above? Or would it be better to use the Kies software on PC to update from 5.0 to 5.0?
I really appreciate competent help on this (and probably many other in the same situation) and no abuse of this thread for other topics .
As step by step guide with a link to PIT file and tool version info (Odin 3.09 etc.) is very welcome.
Cheers!
Flashing the DBT over an o2 branded device is ok. The upcoming error in the end, related to a to small cache.img ext4 partition comes up because of the comparsion by odin of the is and the has to be partition size.
At this stage the DBT rom at the S5 is not installed, it's like a download only. If you now flash the right *.pit as a next step this will adjust the partition size. The installation afterwards will be work and all is on a clean state. Have done this yesterday here in Germany using before o2 branded S5.

Thank you for the quick reply Endur.
Is there a guide I can follow for the whole procedure (what you did on you phone)? And where can I get the "right" PIT file?
I had some experience flashing a Galaxy S1, so I know this might be tricky and would like to avoid any possible heart attacks during the procedure .
Thanks in advance.
Flash bob7 DBT using Odin (I have used 3.10).
After that you will get the failed message because of wrong partition size.
Unplug USB cable.
Plug USB cable.
Flash *.pit (European for G900F 16GB)
You will get a note now about adjusted partions. The installation of bob7 DBT will start now (you see the green Android spinning). You may wipe cache and data as last step.

Alright, with mental support of Endur and some courage I just de-branded my phone by updating it from VIA (O2) 4.4.2 (G900FXXU1ANG2) to no branding (DBT) 5.0 (G900FXXU1BOB7). I've used Odin 3.10 and Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones 1.5.51.0.
The flashing procedure is basically as described in many other posts, so I don't want to create a copy of a copy. Please take a look for yourself.
Instead I will only add the steps required for O2/VIA de-branding with my experience.
As Endur mentioned the first step with Odin doesn't flash but "copy" the firmware to the phone. Due to different partition layout Odin will show an error. Remove the USB cable and replug it while Odin is still running. Remove the check from "AP" (former PDA) in Odin, select correct PIT, check "Re-Partition" in Odin and press "Start". Now comes the excitement moment. My phone got stack showing Android, powered by Google etc. I had to remove the battery, boot into recovery an wipe data and cache. So it seems to be a must instead of may.
I've used the SM-G900F_pit_16GB.zip (for German / DBT version) from forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2737448
Good luck!
Yes, wipe data and cache is a good idea while updating from Android 4.2 up to 5.
There is a lot different for data, Dalvik was changed to ART and much, much more.
I had updated from BTU BNL9 to DBT BOB7 only. The DBT requires the greater partition size for hidden.img while BTU can be flashed without any partition change to a formerly German o2 branded device.

[Q] SM-N910H CSC Change without Root

Hi, I have SM-910H with ACR CSC. I have tried flashing multiple Stock Roms but CSC does not changes. I have factory reset multiple times. Also I have tried below mentioned method multiple times but no avail. If anyone has been successfully change CSC on 910H without root, kindly help me out.
1. Run and configure Odin. Do NOT check “Re-Partition” and “Auto Reboot” check boxes.
2. Load the stock firmware in the PDA button.
3. Set the phone in download mode (Volume Down+Home+Power button). Then connect the phone in your computer.
4. Hit the “Start” button and then wait.
5. Once the flashing successfully completed. Do NOT let it reboot into the normal mode.
6. Reboot into recovery mode (Volume Up+Home+Power button).
7. See if it’s applying the CSC file then wait until it finishes and reboot.
8. If you do not see the CSC installation, instead choose the “Wipe data/Factory reset”. Then repeat flashing the stock firmware. You may then achieved the CSC code flashing the stock firmware on the second attempt.
10. Confirm the CSC code by using Kies 3 or by downloading Phone INFO ★Samsung★ and see if the CSC code has changed.

Find & flash single country csc instead of multi csc, once it's changed to single country csc, flash again as per your requirements.

Thanks for the advice. I can try that. Can you point out any 910H firmware that is single CSC. Also can you tell how to check from downloaded firmware that it is whether single CSC or multi CSC.
I used to flash Singapore rom when I was facing problem like u r facing but i don't know about your model, there was a thread in note 3 forum mentioning this.
Note 3 thread for csc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666907
i don't mean to hijack the thread but i am on the same boat with n910f (not rooted).
I have a warranty appointment (battery drain) and wish to flash back to stock. I purchased my phone sim free from Switzerland and i am in the UK. however i tried lollipop German rom (and sadly did not record my csc, i am a noob) and have now downgraded to UK rom to test battery drain issue for a day or two. I now wish to revert back to stock. my phone id csc related fields are as below.
original csc code: BTU
firmware csc: AUT
active csc code: BTU / AUT
csc country iso: CH
which rom should i flash to and back. Also considering the german lollipop rom data has completely gone from the csc which i flashed to the UK rom afterwards will it be safe to flash to it without auto reboot and then flash back to AUT swiss rom. i'd rather not have to set up my device again . and any comments on Warranty things / recommendations i need to take care of before my appointment
thnx
*********my solution ---------
I reset to factory default , installed lollipop rom, reset to factory default, booted lollipop, reset to factory default again, flashed swiss image , reset to factory default and everything was back to stock

S7 930t unknow pda and bricked

Hi, and thks for the help.
I got a s7, the short history is this
1)need to change "sms center number" but it was gray colored, not editable
2) i rooted the s7 for use the root explorer and change the xml, for fix the sms center number
3 i notice that the anycast, or anyview, was not working, so need to unroot, but solve the "sms center number"
4)decide to install a cfw so not have the same problem with sms, i use the QF6 cfw in this forum.
5) i didn't know about the "pda", follow the tutorial and try to install the cfw for QF6
6) i get the recovery boot loop, my phone star and try to boot recovery, install update, and restart
7) i try to install stock fw, but i don't know the pda of my phone, and smartswitch method not work.
8) i try diferrent stock fw for the 930t
.....G930TUVS4BQL2_CL12142063_QB16000831_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta
.....G930TUVS4BRA1
.....G930TUVS4BQJ2
9) also i try with the "SM-G930T TMB pit".
what i think, i mees up the partitions of the phone, so i try the "SM-G930T TMB pit", and use the csc, that suppose to content the partition info, but the odin keep fail, the last resource is download all the fw of the 930t and test it, or what can i do
thks for the reply
Solved
Hope this help somebody how be like.
I was trying with firms for the 930T, like this "G930TUVS4BQJ2", try a lot of thems, random picked up, so i notice that the firms that i was using has the "G930T---UVS---4BQJ2", "UVS" part in it, it suppose to all firm for the 930t was for tmobile, all in the USA. So i download a firm with the "UVU" instead of "UVS" in it.
Reading in another post, i notice that the "930U" version, was a version for the USA, but i version free of all the custom from the operators, so i decide to try with that, so i pick one with the "G930UUEU4BRD1", i decide to us that, because the variant has "UEU" in it.
And for last, download Odin 3.13.1 and, that it, decompress the firm "G930UUEU4BRD1", put the phone in download mode, conecct to the pc by usb, open odin 3.13.1 and select the BL, AP, CP, CSC, not the home_csc, and press, all working fine, i now i have a s7 free of t-mobile apps. Root not recommend because it lags a lot.
hope help someone.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 (2020) SM-T505 (LTE) 32GB March 2022 update huge problem (need urgent help)

Hi all,
i have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 (2020) SM-T505 (LTE) 32GB. It was updated 20.03.2022 with official latest security update via wifi (normal usual way) (i think Feb or March 2022) but after that i can not turn my tablet any more. I have all data phone numbers picture on my tablet so i need to backup and return data !
Problem with :Version Android 11
Security Patch Level 2022-03-01
PDA T505XXU3BVB2
CSC T505OXM3BVB2
Please check also attached picture ... i can login to this selected mode .... is it possible to restore to previous version (before update) and keep all data or update somehow with cable (alternative program) ..!!!! I need this data urgently ! I can not contact with Smart Switch (data backup)
i can see topic is here open https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/tablets/tab-a7-update/m-p/5030111/thread-id/12475 but there is no solution to keep data ! (only menu where you can hard restore everything when you delate everything)
Thank you for your urgent help.
Boot into download mode and flash the same stock rom version you were previously on onto your tablet, just dont flash userdata. This will reflash android. Apps and settings may be cleared, but internal storage (photos, videos etc) will remain intact. Look for a guide on how to do this.
@PhotonIce can you give more infos please
when i enter power + volume up i go to this menu
what next .... how to i apply update from ADB or even how do i apply uppdate from SD card
a lot of people are waiting for step by step process to save the data
inside .. fyi
is it possible to update only android side via ODIN.... how can i do that ? Please need help
Ok, lets get into this.
First, we need to find the signed firmware files for your specific tablet. Sammobile is a well-known source for samsung stock roms. Now we need to find the model number, which is t505. Next, we need to match the PDA and android versions, which you've mentioned above. Now, the slightly hard part. We need to get the rom for the right country (csc). Your csc ins mentioned above. Notice the OXM after T505. That is the country code. You can match this up on any samsung csc key to find the country.. Now, OXM is a universal CSC code, which doesn't really help with the download. We need more information, you can usually check your csc from the about phone menu in android, but you cant really do that. So our other option is for you to send a picture of the details from download mode, the csc will be mentioned there. To enter download mode, follow this tutorial for your device:
Upon entering download mode (after pressing volume up), look for the csc and send it here. If you cannot find the CSC, just send a picture of the entire screen. Also please mention which country you got this tablet from, and which country you are in, also mention if it is on any carrier etc.
Once you provide this information, we will be able to pick the most suitable csc for your stock rom, then I will provide further instructions on how to flash the software without losing your data. Note that you may lose your apps, but you will definitely not lose your photos, videos, files etc.
Bought in Slovenia, wifi + mobile used in Austria.
@PhotonIce CSC is what .... my whole code is (i think this is PDA) T505XXU3BVB2 ... so csc is XXU?
i have android 11
..what next
and thank you in advance for help
if i lose apps is ok ... for me it is important to keep photos videos files etc

Ok, so we'll be using the slovenia csc. Upon confirming the details on the sammobile download page, the pda and csc match, so we should be good to go. One thing I did notice is that in your first post you said the PDA was "T505XXU3BVB8", but in the picture of your recovery, it shows "T505XXU3BVB2". Can you confirm anything about this?
@PhotonIce it is T505XXU3BVB2
Well now we know which firmware we need to download, here's the link, you'll need to register on sammobile to download:
Download Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 LTE SM-T505 SIO Slovenia T505XXU3BVB2 firmware
Fast download latest Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 LTE firmware SM-T505 from Slovenia with T505XXU3BVB2 and Android version 11
www.sammobile.com
@PhotonIce done ... next (i have ftth at home so that why is so fast)
Alright, now we'll need to install The Samsung USB Drivers, and download Odin. Here are the links:
Drivers
Odin
done
Extract the drivers zip and run the installer.
Once it's done, extract the firmware zip and post an image of the files inside the extracted folder
@PhotonIce
Ok, open odin, then connect your tablet to your pc in download mode. You should see an empty box under the word ID:COM turn blue with a COM- number.
Next, click on BL in odin, and select the file starting with BL_ from the extracted folder.
Click on CSC in odin, and select the file starting with HOME_CSC_OMC_ from the extracted folder.
Click on CP in odin, and select the file starting with CP_ from the extracted folder.
Click on AP in odin, and select the file starting with AP_ from the extracted folder
Leave userdata empty, and make sure not to use the file starting with CSC_OMC_.
Once you have done this, click on the options tab on the left of odin, then send a screenshot of the entire odin window so that I can confirm that all is good.
@PhotonIce
Alright, everything seems good. As long as you selected HOME_CSC and NOT CSC_, then you should be good. Just press the start button to begin flashing, it will take a couple of minutes. Do not power off or unplug your device during this process. Once it is done, you device will automatically reboot, so do not try to manually reboot.
Good Luck! If it worked out then post here.
ok lets try . Yes i have selected HOME_CSC !!!!!!!!
