hi all i have had to charge this phone so much its kinda doin my head in, last night i charged it and took it off at 6pm fully done and my 11pm after taking approx 30pics + 4vids(4min long each) it was down to very low life.
so i chargeed the battery fully again, and this time from 8am ~ 10am today my battery is at 77% i have done sofar
*backlight set @ 30%
*hspda ON
*Weather, facebook download every 1 hour;
*1call, 5min
*3 SMS got, 5 SMS sent
*1hours playing with phone (general settings)
*took 10 photos
*took 1 vid 3min long
from 100% to 77%,
Simple, turn off 3G. On regular GSM my phone was at 37% after 12 hours with at least 30min talking, lots of browsing, emails, texting, and 30 minutes GPS.

TBH I doubt you are fully charging in 2 hours. The iPhone is the same, fully charging is not till the meter says 100%, that is more likely 80%.
The battery meter may also need calibrating. Personally I would drain the battery dry by running videos etc, and then charge it back up and leave it charging overnight.

i charge it alot longer till green light came on not two hours matey, it took two hours to lose that much life lol
ps. i will run a satnav a few hours should run life down and then recharge
My battery was draining fast too. I realised it was because it would stay connected to my data (mobile web for O2 in my case) and never disconnect. I only clicked on the notification bar and saw i was connected to my data for over 1 hour and half. That is a big battery drain. Don't switch to gsm mode - that would suck. What is the point of having such a high end phone and use it in gsm mode?
All I can suggest to you for the time being (until someone figures out how to have data connections auto disconnect after a couple of minutes) is to disable auto downloads for the following:
facebook, weather, mail, stocks, time sync, twitter etc.
You now have to check manually these items. Sucks i know but only way for me to not stay connected to data and drain my friggin battery
That happens to me too..I have everything set to update manually! No internet time no twitter, weather etc..And no other apps!!! And it still connecting by itself and stays this way for hours till i notice it!! Any ideas of what does it try to update??
(dont tell me the obvious ones!!)

i keep getting message battery low may lose data is this true will i lose data on my fone?
on the old PDA's if you drained the battery ( <1% or something like that ) your data can be gone, its like performing a hard-reset... don't know how it is now though... propably its safe, or it turns off before 0%

You don't have to worry about that any more. A different type of memory is used. You can even take the battery out and leave it for days and all your programs and data are still there.
ok people i completely deaded the battery till it wouldnt turn on and started it charging at 15:43, its now 17:00 and still showing orange led light so i will keep checking every 15min to find out...
1) how long to charge from total flatnesss
2) how long battery last tomorrow on full charge from now to when it conks out again
will keep you updated
just for information: HD2 has a battery that needn't get totally depleted to get the full charging cycle like on older battery packs. On the contrary, the battery suffers when completely discharged. It is recommended not to leave it till the phone dies, this reduces the battery life. Charge it whenever possible. I have mine in active dock when driving in car, as well as when in office. I know the battery life could be better but well...

I would imagine video recording puts quite a strain on the battery.
Also don't forget that gorgeously massive screen runs from a 1200mAh-ish battery. I have the Xperia X1, with a 1500mAh battery. When I get the HD2 I can't help but feel there just won't be enough juice to go around.
Lower battery capacity + bigger screen = ever-so-slight reduction in battery.
I wonder whether captive or resistive screens take more power?
I'm using wi-fi at home for all data and the battery is lasting forever!
Strongly recommend tying this - see if it works for you?
ok all i have the full charge time of the battery, from complete flaness 0% life to full charge 100% life time taken
start 15:43 ~ finish 18:12 = TOTAL 3:19min.

Also the way you charge your battery affects the charge time.
Example:
- Charging through phone using stock charger
- Charging through phone using third-party charger
- Charging using a short USB connection
- Charging using a long USB connection
- Charging through phone with phone off
- Charging through phone with phone on
- Charging through official external battery charger
- Charging through third-party external battery charger
Sometimes stock accessories are slower, others, not so. Some manufacturers refer to a "power charge", for example some Sony Walkmans. For that to work though the phone / device has to be off. Thats how they get those 3min = 3hr charge times.

Erm that's not what I advised. The aim was to re-calibrate the battery meter. All you have done is wait till the batery meter says 100%, whether in reality it's 80%, 75% or whatever. A full overnight charge would have guaranteed that 100% = 100%.
I don't see what you've done other than continue to use it the same as you already were.
I said I doubt you can get 100% in 2 hours, 3:19 isn't much more.

No he's right, completely draining the battery isn't good and shouldn't be done too often. regularly topping the battery up is the way to go.

hi i plan to monitor usage till battery drops dead and then tomorrow night or the net if im lucky i will redo the recharge test over night
Has anyone else used the batterycalibration app from the market?
I found that after using it my battery life is worse! I used Juice Defender before and after using this app, keeping the settings exactly the same, and noticed the following changes after ensuring 100% charge at night, the battery state in the morning was/is:
Before using batterycalibration - 99-100%
After using batterycalibration - 93-95%
Nothing else has changed as far as running apps is concerned so I can't understand why I now have this drop in battery. I've also noticed that the battery drains a lot quicker after using this app (only used it once). Juice Defender used to do a very good job of managing my battery but after using the batterycalibration app I'm not seeing any benefit, in fact totally the opposite.
Have you tested batterylife by timing it yourself? Batterycalibration obviously calibrates your battery. It corrects the displayed %. This means that before, when it said 99%, it could have been 93% as well, but just said it was 99%.

The app sucks. I calibrated with the app and then calibrated the proper way and the proper way took an extra 30 min to completely charge.
Never use the app. Just charge till green. Unplug and turn off the charge till green while off. Then once green unplug the phone and turn the phone back on let it boot up completely then turn off again and charge till green or ten minutes whichever is longer then unplug and turn on and go into cwm and clear bat stats. Restart phone and enjoy

I was going to do this (bump the battery) but seen quite a lot of posts here, and other forums, where people have seen worse battery life and, in a few cases, their battery dies and becomes totally unusable. Might give it a go though, once I get a spare battery.
Hi Guys,
Speaking of battery calibration I am about to go travelling for several months with my desire and have 4 batteries to take with me. Is there anything imparticular I should consider when charging/swapping between these batts in terms of calibration. I also have an external battery charger I was going to use to charge them the majority of the time.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers

I always use this app and it works great. It just erases the batterystats.bin file.
FYI, HTC actually used to recommend the above mentioned technique but have now warned against it as they say it is terrible for your battery's health.
Works wonders for me, use it on 3 devices, and have had no problems.
Regards
So, I am using MIUI 2.1.12 with LorDModUE 8.6 CFS 2WCR kernel.
I have installed 4EXT Recovery Controller and CurrentWidget.
With CurrentWidget, I monitored the battery while charging until it reached 0mA (which means the battery is as full as it can get).
With 4EXT Recovery Controller I removed the batterystats.bin file.
I drained the phone until it shut itself down. Then I charged it (without powering it on) until it was full (LED was green).
I power on the phone... 99% battery.
I plug in the charger... it says 26mA (which means it would reach 0mA as in full charge in another 20-30 minutes).
WHAT THE HELL?!
This never happened while I was using the default CM kernel included in MIUI. Only happened with Tiamat and LordMod.

Seriously, guys, what is the best way to calibrate the battery?! Perhaps I should not have let it shut itself down, but plug the charger when the phone was at 1% (which lasted for another 20-30 minutes, by the way)?!
if I don't remember it wrong the LED turns green at 90%.
afair the battery doesn't get charged during booting. which means that you probably lost the 1% during boot.
I also used the same method and got it calibrated correctly
but is their any other way too ?

The LED turns green on AOSP ROMs at 90%, when the phone is ON, as far as I know. When it is OFF, it works fine (goes green at 100%).
I want to hear from the developers / those that know how these codes work and stuff... Cause I don't want to look at my phone how the percentage goes down so fast, then, when it reaches 10%, I can play Pocket Legends for another 20 full minutes -.-

The battery doesn't charge to full capacity first time around. When I used to calibrate the battery I would charge until it was drawing 0mA, then reboot; it would be drawing about 26mA, so I'd charge to 0mA again and reboot; it would now be drawing about 15mA, so I'd carry on charging to 0mA, reboot, repeat, repeat and repeat until it eventually continued to draw 0mA after a reboot. Then I'd delete the batterystats.bin file.
As one of Google's engineers says, deleting your battery stats isn't going to improve your battery life. I haven't done any of that for a long time now and I've noticed precisely no difference (except for the extra time I've gained by not having to wait for it to finally charge up to full capacity).

I know about Google's statement.
The battery would drain fast, then, when it reaches 1% or 5%, you would be able to use your phone like it had 30%. Just that it shows the values wrong. Calibrating the battery should fix that...
Anyway... I'm not going to struggle any further.
I'll tell what I've done;
- I have installed Battery Balibration app and CurrentWidget,
- Waited battery charging till reached 0ma,
- Removed battery stats and restarted,
- Then waited to drain battery and shut-down itself,
- I connected USB charger to PC and TURN ON THE PHONE !!
- Again waited battery to reach 0 ma,
- Then plugged off and monitored that current widget shows the range btw 3-10 !!
I don't know exactly if it helps but, maybe you should turn on your DHD while carging..
For further instructions you may qant to check this topic;

I don't really know. It would be silly for the Android system to display the battery percentage (up there, in the status bar) by reading the batterystats.bin.
My phone's battery level drops somewhat fast, then, when it would reach 30% or so, it doesn't drop as fast. Also, at times, when I reach 10%, 5% or even 1%, I am still able to play an intensive game like Pocket Legends for an extended ammount of time (30 minutes, for example). Pocket Legends is CPU/GPU intensive and it also requires an active Internet connection, so I'd say it's pretty power hungry.
I don't really get the entire purpose of calibration. I have done it and I can't seem to notice any difference.
I'm going to do it again, now, because I switched to a Sense ROM (RunnyDrOiD). I'll monitor the battery with Battery Monitor Pro. When it reaches +0mA, I'll reboot and so forth so forth until it's drawing 0mA, although I doubt I'll resist that much time, so I'll just delete the batterystats.bin after a few reboots, when it reachs 0mA.

Calibration improves the accuracy of the percentage shown!
The illusion is that you improve your battery life with it....

I've just found as I was fooling around this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PowerSki...AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item20c1a1c8ad
It suppose to be a silicon case with a battery build in(1500mah ..not bad), I don't know the dimensions but I just someone might think it as a solution to our 1230mah small battery(with this you have a total of 1730mah which is plenty)
P.S. To mods.. feel free to delete my post, I just wanted to inform the people about a solution that might be handy

- Can i do battery calibration with market applications?
- I always use usb charging. Should i use usb while doing calibration?
IMHO battery calibration is almost mith. Still you can use applications from market and see for yourself is battery suffers any improvement. But callibration is almost same charging from 0% to 100%.
Why do u need usb when phones have fully charge? Just do that thing
Because wall charge is far away and usb charging is making battery less hotter, the half ampere of wall charge. So i think it makes battery live longer.
To make battery %0, should i power on a lot of times after power off itself? And there are some apps that use a lot ofthings to drain battery fast. ARe they suitable for those?

YEsterday i used app, it deleted battery and i used normal usage today. I froze autostart and greeinfy and juice defender application for this first time. IT went about 10 hours. The mobile data was always on. I did not awake phone too much.
To %89, it went very fast again. Then it slowed. From %50 %60 to %30 40 it again fast. Then it jumped %14 to %5. The last %5 lasted very long. ABout maybe 45 minutes. I dont understand my battery. Then i opened 2-3 times to finish battery after shuttingh.
Now its power is off and it is charing ac. In screen i cant see the level of battery so i will wait 3-4 hours. Then will open. Maybe i can wait untilmornning, 7-8 hours because i can sleep.
IS it anything wrong i did_
Hello everyone, i just purchased a second hand Note 3 N9005. The phone was bought 1 year ago. Everything is fine except two things.
1) Battery: As soon as i charge the phone battery drops really quick down to 80%. For example it discharges 10%+ or more during night (wifi, mobile data off), if i use the phone it will drop to 80% in a matter of minutes. No obvious reason for the drain in my eyes. As soon as i hit 80% it starts to behave more normally. The more i discharge it the harder it gets to run down the battery ! Last night i was trying to fully discharge it. Battery was down to 1% and it took 45+ minutes of youtube playback to go from 1% to empty !!! Moreover at night if battery is under 80% with 7-8 hours of sleep it won't drop at all. As soon as i plug in the phone it goes from 0% to 15% instantly ! Then it charges normally.
Is this behavior normal ? I mean the no linear discharge. I've had LG G2 before and Nexus 4 and i didn't have this issue.
If this is not normal, is it most likely a damaged battery or could it be phone's fault/ inability to read the battery charge correct?
2) S-Pen. I have noticed that it needs some pressure to work. I've tried Note Pro 12.2 S Pen on the phone and it works with a lot less pressure. I've opened the pen and increased it's sensitivity it got better but still not as comfortable to use like the S-pen from the Note 12.2. Anyone else noticed this ?
Thanks in advance for your time

Yeah i have changed the tip. I even tried a tip from the Note 12.2 pen, same thing. I think it comes down to a sensitivity issue.

Rockfreak I'm also having the same exact problem of the battery, my battery drains from 100% to 82% in less than 25 minutes after that its solwing down, there is a strange thing some certain percentage is hard to be drained easily as some time it takes 10 minutes to drain a certain percentage specifically i can't understand why but I believe for some reason the system is not reading the exact percentage and capacity of the battery.
However, although of the strange battery behavior I'm getting almost 5 and half an hour screen on time no matter how long I'm idle also i never close my 3g connection and it's always connected as H+.
Moreover, i tried to use battery calibration application that doesn't require root access (my N3 is not rooted) when the mobile is in the charger and fully charged notfication appears i restart the mobile without unplugging it from the adapter once it's boot i go to the batter application program and press calibrate then i unplug my mobile.
In this excact period of time i can notice a big difference in the battery behavior and it starts to drain almost normally, anyhow, I'm still getting the same excact screen on time which is around 5 to 5 and half hour, also as soons as the battery reaches 0% or 5% and i charge it again to 100% and get the battery full notification the misbehavior starts again.
I tried alot of things but unfortunately with no luck. So i decided that ignorance is a gift xD
