How to install Xposed Installer on G935FD - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi,
How do I install the Xposed Installer software on my rooted S7 Edge (G935F)? I've installed the apk from the developer's site, but when I ran it said it wasn't compatible with my device's processor's architecture and gave warnings that I may end up in a boot loop.
Thank you,
scndts

If you have Nougat 7 installed Xposed framework is NOT compatible.
It's not yet compatible with Nougat 7 firmwares or roms.
Good luck, have a great day!

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you happen to know if the developer(s) have said anything about when they might roll out such a version?

All I know is that the developers have been
working on it for a few weeks now.
Don't know when it will be ready.

Thanks again. My G935FD originally came with Marshmallow, but I have since flashed the newest stock firmware (7.0) and rooted it. Is going back to Marshmallow as simple as flashing the previous firmware? I'm mainly asking because I want to use Xposed to restore a Titanium backup of Viber and keep the message history without activation (SIM card is in another country).

Titanium backup doesn't use xposed, root is all it need.

[Q] dm-verity verification failed in recovery

(My phone is still running stock room, rooted, and with twrp)
So I was just about to flash a custom rom on my note since I learned that I can flash some t-mobile rom on my canadian (Bell) variant if I also flash a certain kernel(Only AEL and star[sumtin] I think) .
When I go to my recovery, I see on the bottom of the screen: dm-verity verificatoin failed.
I did a lot of research and didn't found anything, except some vague mention of that when bootloop are occuring.
So I don't know what I should do, if I can still flash anything without any worries, or should I unroot my note and flash the stock unrooted rom?
Can I still continue what I was doing and flash the custom rom and kernel I wanted to flash?
Another small question: I remember before rooting my note I had a software update available. I decided to root it first thinking I could do the update after (stupid I know), but I couldn't no more (I got a message about using a modified version or something like that). Is it important? Should I unroot my note, update the stock software, then root it again? And I guess if I flash another custom rom it's insignificant right?
thanks in advance! If I'm posting that because I really searched and found nothing satisfactory and clear, also bear with me I'm not perfectly bilingual.
It sounds like the custom rom you downloaded got corrupted, or just isn't compatible with your device. Try downloading again, and see if that works.
As for the update, now you are rooted you can no longer get any OTA updates. Most if not all custom roms will be using the latest builds. If you want to flash a completely stock (updated) rom, sammobile.com is where you need to be. But you will have to root the device afterwards.

Same problem for me. Was on completely stock rom until today but hated the lack of control so tried a custom rom. I've been a flashaholic for years so thought I'd have no problem but how wrong I was. First I tried TWRP recovery several times but kept getting stock recovery. I then tried Philz CWM but got even more problems including "dm-verity verification failed". I am fairly new to KitKat as I tried it on my note 1 but didn't like it. I am really angry that the stock rom prevents me installing bloatware and restricts access to my Sd card.
Have now managed to root and install clockwork mod and Echo rom and all seems to be working now

Anybody solved the "dm-verity verification failed"-issue so far?
Does an installation of the stock-firmware solve the problem?

That´s what I finally did. Couldn´t resolve it in any other way.
After that I installed TWRP instead of CWM and also used another root-method as before. (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2oOvf5tOCY) Since then the problem is gone.
Do you think I can just run Odin and install twrp without refreshing to stock rom first?
I dint even know if it's possible to switch to twrp after installing cwm without A fresh start lol
Might give it a go when I have a few hours to re set up the phone haha
Thanks for your help though!

I don´t know whether you can flash twrp after installing cwm, but I doubt it would solve your problem anyway.
Well, you could try. In the worst case you can still go back to stock.

There are two versions for the Note 4, which together cover all variants.
1. TWRP for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Exynos) All Variants
2. TWRP for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Qualcomm) All Variants
Please have a look here: http://teamw.in/twrp_view_all_devices

Another thing you could do is, ask Rkrishnamurthy from this thread, what he finally flashed on his 910G-model? http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=325832927
He might have flashed the N910F-recovery on his N910G.
Or ask Aamirleo55 from this thread, what he did with his N910G: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...rp-2-8-1-0-t2923509/post56392220#post56392220
Sorry, that´s all that comes to mind for now.
Yea i was thinking about giving the 910F Recover a go... but its a bit risky hahaha
The link to the first thread doesnt work but i did message aamirleo55.
Thanks for all your help again man. I feel like such a noob right now haha
I reflashed last night to stock. and then re-rooted, and installed CWM. But after i do all the SUPERSU updates and Xposed Framework, my DM Verity Fails again!!!
This really suck, because essentially i wont be able to backup, restore and flash my phone like i use to on the note 3......
I seriously hope 910F TWRP recovery is the answer.

Ok
So I decided to download the latest CF Auto root and I found that the TRLTEDT corresponds with the SM-N910G - http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
TRLTEDT correspondents to the India TWRP recovery - http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/266
SM-N910G also corresponds to India, Singapore, Sri Lanka and obviously Australia (where i am based) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/galaxy-note-4-versions-cpu-t2883741
So in theory i should probably use that one.

Sorry for the bad link. I tried to find it again, but also couldn´t. If you wanted, you could still send him a private message.
When I had the DM-verity issue, I also reflashed to stock, installed CWM and rooted again, and got the same problem again. Just as you. Only when I used TWRP it worked for me and the DM-verity problem didn´t occur since then.
For backup you could at least make a Titanium-backup, which in the paid version even allows you to create a flashable .zip-file from all your backupped apps & settings. This is a very convenient way of re-installing everything, almost like a nandroid-backup.
Or if you are brave enough you could try flashing TWRP-recovery directly over your current CWM. I don´t know whether that works, but as long as you can get into download-mode, you will always find your way back to stock.

All this work and research just so I can flash my kernel with the N4 AEL Kernel haha
like you said though, as long as i can get into download mode, I should be all good.
I actually soft bricked my phone a couple days after i got it by accidentally converting certain system apps to user apps..... (idiot). Fixed the problem by flashing stock firmware and then re rooting. So i have some experience fixing this haha but hopefully i don't have to and report some good news.

Mate! It worked.
So for anyone with DM-Verity Verification failed, simply install the appropriate TWRP recovery over it and it will fix your problem.
also SM-N910G is compatible with the TWRP Recovery for Inidia (even though it does not say it is)
So hap this fixed my problems and big thanks to Parinibbana for all the assistance.

As you already said. Fist of all you need root permission on your device. But because you already installed 5.1.1 via OTA I'm afraid your device is "locked down". If KingRoot isn't able to root 5.1.1, then there is no easy way to get root on your device. In this case you have to downgrade first via Flashtool. Or you could unlock your bootloader and flash a custom kernel which has twrp integrated. But keep in mind that you will loose your drm keys this way.
BTW: I wouldn't use KingRoot even if it is able to root your device, because I don't trust this app....
Thnx mate for your reply
OK I will downgrade my tablet to 5.0.2
But I need you plz to point where I get my previous Android
And if I flashed it with flashtool all my data will be gone?!
Then I will root my tablet again then flashed this stock in this thread, am I right?!

Try this FTF:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/thema/s...ny-xperia-tablet-z.457524/page-3#post-7918151
After that, use XZDR (TabZ-lockeddualrecovery2.8.21-RELEASE.installer.zip) from here:
http://nut.xperia-files.com/
Use Option 3 from Installer, which will use an root-exploit, that is still available in .230 Firmware.
In newer Firmwares this option isn't working anymore and you need to root by your own first.
And finally flash this PreRooted Image via TWRP or CWM

Depends on which Options you use to flash. If you exclude Data-Partition, then Data will be still there. But booting KitKat-Firmware with Lollipop-Data will not work or at least will screw up everything. So in the end you would need to wipe data anyway. (Be aware that flashing FTF including Data-Partition will also wipe internal storage / internal sdcard)

Well, there are mainly two things:
1. It needs a internet connection for rooting (who knows which data is send to them ...)
2. It isn't always providing a full working root, which is not very nice for devolpers and users, because their apps/packages maybe don't work properly...
Thank you Mcbane87
Well,I already downgraded my TabZ SGP321 and flashed kitkat 4.4.4 with build number 10.5.1.A.0.283 via flashtool like you said, even I got many failed steps at the beginning but I did it
Then I rooted my tablet using this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-tablet-z/development/root-sp321-ftf-10-5-1-0-283-t2873377
So what to do next?! and I had another couple of questions please:
1- I am from Egypt so when looked into this firmware I didn't find Arabic language, is that Normal and how I get Arabic language
2- why I feel that kitkat is much better than lollipop and much easier and battery life is much better while I am playing my game with charger connected still battery going low slowly ?
Note: I am using root only to use Xmod for playing Clash Of Clans !
I flashed it, seemed all ok, but:
no root, no recovery? no SuperSu in my Apps, I failed to enter recovery. What did I do wrong? what to do now?

you must reflash a rooted Firm(like 230) with flashtool.
Starting enable debuging and install nuts recovery 2.870 with option 1.
Then reboot and hold volume down when the green light on and you are only in TRWP mode.
Flash the 5.1 from sd1 and all was good.

In short xposed framework is just an addition to the in-built framework of your ROM. It helps you to customize your ROM for personalization and adding extra features to your device. Try googling xposed framework and keep working on it to get deeper knowledge about its modules and stuff.
But, make sure you know how to recover your device from bootloop and softbrick before installing the xposed framework. :good:

Could be possible, because this is ROM was created from Sony for Germany. Maybe they didn't integrated Arabic language and letters.

Didn't made that much comparison with TabZ, but on my Z1c I can confirm that some things are better with KitKat like bluetooth (only 5.02...didn't testet 5.1.1 till now) and other things like touchscreen response (phantom touching) is better in lollipop. Concerning batterylife I didn't saw any difference.
Well and the design / functions of lollipop are a question of personal liking. I personally hate the new LockScreen and its notification behaviour.
I would be happy finding a xposed module which would bring back old lockscreen on Lollipop, but I'm afraid this isn't that easy....
Well, I am big fan of Sony, I got Sony Xperia Z and I love lollipop in it and btw I have installed stock firmware prerooted as well
But frankly I am preferring kitkat in my tablet it's looks much better and easier
Anyway thank you for your helping bro

Did you try Gravity Box LP and Serajr Xperia™ Xposed (LP)? They will definitely help to change the look of Sony LP. Work good on 5.0.2 and 5.1.1

Anyone successfully installed Xposed yet?

As the title suggests, has anyone been able to install xposed yet to the stock rom? Ive rooted and attempted with the official links from xda forum, but just got boot loops (as expected) so had to flash back to backup.
If you have successfully installed could you throw a brief guide on how you did so,

Try wanam's unofficial xposed.. according to him it works.. just search hi thread.

Failed for me, caused system apps to crash, had to uninstall
Just a heads up. I get boot loops sometimes on restarts. I noticed when I clear dalvik cache I have some errors on startup. To fix this I boot to TWRP and shut the device down completely. On startup everything loads fine. Hope that will help anyone with problems

Ye you also need to install the Xposed App
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Hello.
I have got S7 Edge G935F and, correct me if I'm wrong, but if I want to install Xposed, I need to:
- root the device: DONE (thanks to Chainfire)!
- install CWM Recovery, but is it necessary if I rooted the device with Chainfire method and I have exactly this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zF9vLU65zTs ?
- flash the recovery package with Xposed? Which one?
- install the Xposed .apk
Is that all or I need to do something else?

You have to go into xposed. Go to modules and download Wanam from there.

First of all, we need more information about your device:
- what Android version?
- Stock ROM or custom ROM?
First thing you'll need is a custom recovery (TWRP recommended). Since Android Lollipop, Xposed can only being installed by flashing it via recovery.
For Samsung stock ROM (TouchWiz-based), you will need a special version of Xposed, this one from here. Alternatively, you could use topjohnwu's systemless Xposed from here if you like.
If you are running a custom ROM such as CM (which is not based on TouchWiz), you can use the official Xposed from here (Android Lollipop) or here (Android Marshmallow).
Installation instructions are given in each thread, so in case you have further questions, please ask for help in the corresponding tread.

Just go to the above linked thread by wanam. All required information can be found there. By the way, your CPU is ARM-v7, so you need the "ARM" version, not the "ARM64" version.
For further questions, please use wanam's thread.

Basically, yes. But there is a newer version (v86.1) available. Use this one. And don't forget to make a complete backup with TWRP before flashing Xposed. And also download the Xposed Uninstaller (also flashable), just in case you encounter a bootloop. Wipe cache&dalvik cache after flashing Xposed and reboot. That's it.
If you encounter any issue, please use wanam's thread.
I have flashed the v86 and worked very well without any problem. BTW v86.1 is only for the android M

Theme Center APK required (SM-J320F)
Hi,
Is your SM-J320F rooted ? If it is rooted, can you send me themecenter.apk from system/priv-app folder ?
You have to copy and paste from system/priv-app folder using ES File explorer or Root Explorer or Root Browser.
I need it for theme store to work.
Thanks.
Regards,

Hang on a while so i can make you a rom to flash from odin, Lollipop 5.1.1 no bloatware, xposed framework, SuperSU/ROOT.
If you want any custom thing like Nova Launcher or if you'd like a close to AOSP android experience tell me.
Or even better if you have TWRP i will give you the backup

7.0 for sm-T810 is out for manual install

Thanks a lot, I've been running the DBT / German version on my US T810 for a while now since it gets updates first and just got Nougat OTA. Recommend all users use the manual kies update here and get 7.0 right away: smoother, better multi tasking / split screen and adds reading mode/blue light filter. Also has April 1 security update. Will post on battery life later once it settles in but Samsung really delivered on this one. A major reason for tab s3 just went away (at least for a few months).
Thank you @Extreemator, I flash it with Odin and is working incredibly.
It is fast, stable and has a very nice UI, comes with Grace UX installed as the main interface, so the order of some options is different. The floating windows have two options, the first is the traditional Samsung split windows and the second is the native implementation of Nougat.
Until this moment it has working great, without lag, will have to see how the battery performs on the next days. The fingerprint reader is not fast and effective as it should be, but it does its job.
Just a reminder, for those who come from an NOT samsung rom (aka RR or LOS), it is necessary to clean caches after flashing the rom, otherwise you will have constantly crashes. You can access to the Samsung recovery by using this key combination: Power + volume up + home
Edit:
I have an USA región tab, but German work very well. When SC arrive I update it.
Managed to get root
could you guys check if the firmware is still 32 bit?

I flashed SuperSU from this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-s6-nougat-supersu-t3570740
Initially it didn't work (or maybe I did something wrongly). So I flashed SuperSU from this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/v2-64-2-66-supersu-mode-t3286120
It ended in a bootloop, but I flashed the first SuperSU again and it worked.
Looks like the T710 is getting updated too. https://plus.google.com/+DavidIwantschak/posts/ZkAMV45EpqH
T715 updated too. Rom is available on sammobile firmware section for download.
Waiting for T719 now

Yes it will wipe all your data. Make sure you have a backup of your data and extract your sd card just for precaution.

HC, flashing zips not intended for your device just because it says nougat in the title?!
I'm not surprised it didn't work considering you also flashed the kernel for that device.
Lucky for you supersu made a backup of your stock boot.img and restored it the second time you flashed the correct zip.
Next time I suggest you get it from source not from some third party thread.

From what I understood, that zip works in both S6 and Note 5, so it didn't seem a device specific kernel. However, i already knew the risks and how to recover my device in case of brick.
Well, I´ve dirty flashed with Odin, afterwards rooted with latest TWRP and then finally flashed Magisk. Everything seems to be fine til now.
The file download from OneDrive seems corrupted. I tried twice today and all of them get footer wrong message during update.
