Do you still have a link available for that rom?

ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/mojo/firmware

how do you flash them?
I try twrp but got errors.

If you flash Remix first and then the stock OS, that will do it. That's what I did I'm sure, but it was some time ago. Something to do with the partition structure means you can't just flash stock from Cyanogenmod. That's what I'd read anyway.

Just purchased a Nexus 7 on swappa.com...

The previous owner said he had unlocked and rooted it. Not sure what version it's on... But could I take an ota update successfully? I don't care if I lose root. I bought this for my son to play with.
Thanks

Check to see if there's custom recovery installed. You should flash a factory image and wipe it clean to be 100% sure it'll take an OTA.

Yes he said he had clockwork on it but I prefer twrp which I'll probably flash..
That's if I decide to just throw a sick based rom on it instead.
Can you recommend a good stock based rom that would continue to be updated?

Hmm... Well, I dunno if Team Android makes any more ROMs but those are as close to stock as you can get. Perhaps going simple CyanogenMod or Carbon would be great alternatives if you cannot flash to stock (although there may not be anymore OTAs it's super stable). I don't think the little one will care too much about customizing the UI.

True. I just want something stable so any apps or movie players (MXplayer) run without an issue.
Always seems like cm had so many bugs, even the so called "stable or snapshots".
I saw that SlimKat had a few stable builds. I love that on my 2013 N7 and my G2. Super stable

I guess CM was kinda a bad recommendation, although I never had problems... Anyways, stock or Carbon...or SlimKat, more games and movies! And speed! Have fun choosing!

That I'm not sure of. If the /system partition was changed at all, the md5 would come out invalid and it would send you into a bootloop. You'd also need stock recovery but you can flash an OTA through custom recovery as a .zip. I seriously recommend flashing a stock image if you expect to take an OTA because you really don't know what the original owner had done...

/Vendor

OK guys. Before you bite my head off, I'm an experienced ROM flasher and a junior ROM developer....I've been rooting every phone/tablet I get, I know how to use adb/fastboot and even made a personal stock ROM....like I said....junior not an expert lol....I currently have a nexus 5,6,7(2013). Now, I will be getting my new nexus 6p gold 32gig tomorrow (Tuesday). I have read about the new /vendor partition. Since I ha e never had to deal with that, I need your help. Any info about it before I root it tomorrow would be much appreciated!!!
From my understanding is that it contains the propitiatory drivers, libraries, and such, but what I found out creating my ROM is that it does not contain all of them. If you decide to create your own ROM from AOSP, then I can help you with it.

So, flashing ROMs and such....I don't have to mess with vendor?
Just if there is a newer version out. I think now u can flash the vendor. Img via twrp 3.0 if I'm not wrong

Depending on the ROM, sometimes you do. If you have previously been using a Layers theme for example, you'd need to flash the vendor partition when flashing a new ROM otherwise the data well carry across (Layers resides in the vendor partition).

I guess you are talking about flashing the Vendor image itself - not a flashable version of the vendor ? (probably a dumb question but I thought clarification for me and any other who might be confused couldnt hurt?)

Only time I flash the vendor is when updating to the latest of the ROM I use. Also going to the latest vendor factory img from google in the process. And like the other guy said when going from a layers ROM to anything else.

Flash OpenGApps on stock rom?

Hello everybody!
I want to know if there are any negative consequences (such as bootloops, app crashes, instability etc.) after I flash OpenGApps Aroma on my Stock Rom for XT1643?
Should I do it? Why or why not?
Seems like a silly question to ask. Just wanted to know what happens.
The pertinent question is why you need to flash it when the stock ROM comes with gapps included.
As to what will happen if you do it, you may end up with bootloops. Only way to find out is to try it.

Thanks for the reply any way! :good:

That's his question. It's rather funny that you want to flash OpenGApps, or any GApps for that matter in a ROM in which it already exists
If you're experimenting, go ahead.

You could end up with a brick for all I know. And there's zero reason to try. You got gapps, flashing them again makes no sense whatsoever.
I tried it last night & nothing happened, no bootlops. OpenGapps is made like it can with on any rom. When i was flashing it just showed a message that im flashing OGapps in Stock rom. After Reboot, only a app force closed named with something like Google market.... But still it's an advice not to flash ogapps/other gapps in Stock rom
That's useless. After flashing those OpenGapps, they will be updated by PlayStore anyway...
Those are used for the CM builds just to avoid any licensing issues.

Is Shield Development Dead?

I just picked up a 2017 16GB Shield w/ remote and controller over the weekend. It's really cool despite the lack of full Play Store. I was really interested in flashing a custom full Android ROM but most links seem to be Dead. What do you guys recommend? Perhaps someone who is running full Play Store can chime in here and let me what you did. Thanks.
not dead

Thanks for the reply. I did see this. Looks very good but does everything work? I was skimming through the thread, and this may have been a comment from a long time ago, but mentioned that WiFi wasn't working. That would be a critical bug if that was the case. But if most of the kinks are gone by now I'm willing to try. I've heard great things about Linage OS on phones. I was actually wondering if simply rooting stock ROM and tweaking the build prop would allow full Play Store. There's got to be a way to trick it. I'll have to do some more research.

After looking closer to the specific Linage OS builds, it appears that they are for Foster (2015). I have Darcy (2017). Looks like I'll have to wait it out and hope for the best ?

To be honest, the more I play with the stock system the more I like it. It's certainly stable so you got to give credit where credit is due. Thanks for the link. I did actually stubble upon the Nougat ROM last night and downloaded the files. Im first going to root stock then replace the launcher and tweak the build prop hopefully masking it as a Shield Tablet codename sb_na_wf. Then I'm going to fastboot to TWRP and sideload the real play store and see what happens. (Fingers crossed). Not sure if anyone has tried this but that's my best guess. If it works great, if not , I guess I can stand to just sideload the apps I need. Were you able to actually flash TWRP on your Pro or do you just temp boot to it?

H870 wont boot past recovery...

Hello,
I today went to install an update to the RR 8.1 ROM, however my G6 will no longer boot past TWRP - and I have no idea why.
I've formatted everything possible.. have tried to flash different ROMs and Kernels but the device simply will not boot correctly. It boots into Recovery every time and i'm confused as to why.
I'm currently out and about wont my mac so I can't flash a stock kdz until later when I get onto my Windows machine.
Is there anything I can do now?
TIA!
This is probably the 8th-9th thread about this issue. Please search. This is a common problem with linage based os OTA updates.
Research.

Are you aware of how many random threads there are that relate to the G6 and the word 'recovery'? I didn't think of doing any research AT ALL. Thanks for your useful input.

You are very welcome, just next time please search before repeating yourself. So many other lazy ignorant people who cant be bothered to search or use their initiative that the forum gets filled up with the same rubbish.
If you need some help on how to use the search correctly let me know.
