Ow! That looks like one very unhappy Nook
The screen will not change unless there is an input to change it. So if you disconnect the battery and just reconnect it, maybe nothing will change? Did you try turning it off/on? (I'm sure you probably did). Can you connect via USB? If you have ADB access you could issue a reboot command and see what happens.
It seems unlikely that lightly wiping the screen could damage it--assuming that the screen was not "active" when you were cleaning it.

I was very suprised myself that something like this happend without dropping the device or anything more serious.
I have tried turning it off and off, it works perfectly (usb connection, all buttons) apart from this screen issue.
Going to look up how to issue that reboot and check in soon.
Thanks for your response !

The other thing that occurred to me is you might try the clear screen app from the PlayStore:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lggfc.nookclearscreen
If you have a way to install that and can run it, it may show whether the screen is responding to refresh commands.

Update.
Cant find any instructions on how to reboot device through usb/pc. Cant even unregister it as half of the screen is just covered in static image.
Any suggestions?

Um...well I guess even if you had SearchMarket on your NST you would not be able to make any sense of it on that screen. Then again, if I post the apk file and you install it via ADB I don't see how you will make it work.
Never mind. Dumb idea

rebooting/freezeing problem

i have a tmobile wing. it randomly freezes while using it, fades to white then off, turns off
sometimes only way for it to come back on i have to take out battery and put it back.
when i turn it on sometimes itll loop the tmobile thing, maybe make it to the windows mobile green page then turn off and try again.
ive reinstalled the tmobile rom, installed open touch, still the same thing.
i read about the memory card having a loop porblem so i took it out, still. tried installing total commander and renaming the file but it wont let me rename it.
thought the screen ribbon or another wasnt in good so i took it part and made sure i put everything in good.
maybe the fact that a pin that touches the battery it broken? see how they make an arc or so. and the 1 is broken. is that the problem maybe?

That may well be the case. The first thing to try is to plug the phone to the charger and see if the phone works properly. If it does the next thing would be to get a new battery.
I had the same problem and it was solved by installing a new battery.
Best of Luck
yes it does do it while plugged into charger. a little less though.
and ive noticed that when i try to fix the back cover, doesnt fit right so it pops off on 1 corner, i take it off and put it back on tight, from me pressing down the phone likes to freeze and reboot.
ive been thinking about a new battery. i guess ill go ahead and get one then.

Sony Update Service (Stuck?)

Unfortunately, I didn't read a warning thread about *not* using the Sony Update Service until after I'd started the service for my X1a.
I've been hooked up to the USB with coloured bars for about five minutes, with no progress being noted and nothing changing on the Update Service screen.
Am I in trouble here, or does it just take a while?
12 minutes and no changes.

I guess this is the absolutely first time you connected the usbcable while the phone is in bootloader?
Did an automatic driver install occur when you connected the cable?

It's the first time I've done it with an X1, or any Sony. I've flashed many Synergy and WinMo Motorolas.

I think it must've used the drivers already installed. I heard the connection and detection routines.
7:29 PM to 8:13 PM...that's a long time.
Antivirus and firewall is turned off.

If you didn't see any change at all since you connected the phone I think it's safe to disconnect it and reboot the phone.
This has happened to me, the first time I tried the service.
But If it stopped midway in flashing It's not good..
I'm no pro but as long as the bootloader is intact you should be able to reflash the phone even if the first flash didn't go well and the phone wont boot.
Maybe someone more experienced can shed some light on this...
and while you wait you can search the ROM area for answers.
Xperia ROM Development
Re-started it and everything went well.
Visibly snappier, compared to the way it was behaving before.
Thanks for the commiseration.

No problem, I'm just glad I could show some support in this obvious dark hour...
lol, mine is stuck on the forever detecting phone as well. I might just give up, and use my home computer, which is the one I use to flash phones anyway.
my work computer is vista.
Mine is stuck 'identifying' For 15 minutes now... Someone with the same problem?
vista seems to have probs always..... xp works ok ..
I observed the same experience as well. first attempt will always appear hang at the bootloader, w/o any activities (which is a blessing in disguise, imagine stuck halfway into flashing). Disconnecting & connecting again do the trick. I'm on Vista...
I realize that SEUS is "safer" in terms of support, but why don't you just download the image file you need and flash from the memory card?

[Q] Constant black screen from boot, but still responsive

My ROM is NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.3-CM9 V1.1
The last thing I did was watch a video on YouTube (Application). I then got a black screen the next time I tried to unlock it, this has happened a few times with this ROM so I normally just soft reset it by taking out the battery.
However this time I did it again and my phone turned on, but was constantly black. It vibrated as if it was turning on but did not do any boot logo. Tried booting it into the tri-color screen and nothing still.
I have realised though that it is still booting up, and working like normally, but the screen is just black, it is a lighter black as if it's responding if I press a button. I managed to unlock my phone by doing my pattern, and I can hold the home button and feel a vibration, so I know it has booted into Android.
I'm just really not sure what to do, I've looked all over the forums and found one similar problem but no solution. I think I can get into the tri-color screen if I hold down vol down but it won't show the screen, I just know it is in the screen as I see the light is constantly a light black as if it is constantly on.
Shall I try Task29 or does anyone have any idea what I should do?
Edit*
I can now run AndroidScreenCast and operate my phone from my PC. I can control my phone as if i was normally, but the screen is just black. Like I said it turns onto a light black when anything happens but hat's it. Is it just my screen afterall? (It has been cracked for over a year now but no problems upto now..)
My guess is that you accidently disconnected the output cable from phone to display.
This should be the issue since there seems to be no screen but interactive elements.

Hmm the cable is right under the hardware buttons.
You can try pressing around them to have a chance of getting it back (no guarantee and if you break your display its not my fault).
If you are experienced enough you could remove the LCD but I don't know anything about that.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda premium
yes, you could be the ribbon cable connector to the motherboard, you must fully remove the display and see if the latch on the cable connector is closed.
Also check if the cable is securely attached to verify you see two small ends' near the copper plug is attached to the plastic connector on the motherboard.
good luck

I replaced the battery and the charging port and after putting it together a perfect radius of blue has formed on the right side of the screen. Touchscreen is still working just fine on the whole screen. Any suggestions for how to fix this? There isn't an cracks on the screen. Any suggestions? Is it possible I bent a pin on any of the ribbons? Could someone point out which ribbons go to the screen hardware? Maybe I can get a magnifying glass and figure out which ribbons needs replaced. Thanks for the help.

Go look in one of the many bootloop threads.... but not here- this thread is not related at all with the BLOD.
Ok, finally saw your photo. It does appear to be a cable issue, unfortunately it would likely be the screen cable in which case you would have to replace the entire screen to fix it.

The black cable that is only partially exposed on one end?
Not sure which one you're talking about. The one on the right of the motherboard that goes under the battery is for the LCD I would also check that no filters around the connection have been damaged.

MI 9T Screen not working after replacing

Hello,
Yesterday i tried to replace my screen with frame. However when i press the power button nothing seems to happen. When i connect it to my computer it signals i device is connected. Cant give permission though since my display stays black.
When i put everything back to my old screen i had the same problem. However it give some corrupt display the last time i tried. Like you power on an old analog tv without a channel is broadcasted.
Can anybody tell me in which direction i have to search? It doesnt sound likely my flex cable is finished now....does it?
Is there anyway to tranfer data without visual display? If it is ll broken all of a sudden i would like to transfer the data...

Screen is faulty, common thing - for me 1/5 lcd are broken. Sellers don't check them before sending
Try this in fastboot:
adb backup -apk -obb -shared -all -system
well..this is the screen which was on the phone..working before replacing.
How would i be able to do something with fastboot....no visual on the phone
Just boot phon3 in fastboot, connect to pc with adb installed, try if your phoneis listed in adb and then make a backup, you don't need screen for this.
See if connector are damaged.
Did you installed lcd with phone turned on and battery installed?

No..thats not possible. Although i didn't know if the phone was powered on afterwards ofcourse.
nevertheless: I brought the phone to a repair shop. Unfortunately he couldnt fix it due to parts whichwere hard to order. He told me the motherboard had some damage from the tools used to disassemble the phone.
Strangely enough in the evening that day I heard my Alarm on the phone.
After trying to get the phone recognised at my pc for some time (and some tooling/apps later) All of a sudden my screen came alive, the driver was visible in windows and I could choose to tranfer data.
Since that point there is no issue anmore with my Phone. Using it a few days now without any problems.
Before some higher power resurrected my phone I already ordered a new one though....
Edited, sorry

Hi, i have a similar issue. In my case, if i install the screen with the phone turned on, the screen works fine, but if i turn off the phone or i do a reboot, the screen stop working and appears the same issue as this man.
I have read that you ask him if he has installed the lcd with his phone turned on, so, it makes any difference? What can i do?
Is this original screen or cheap Chinese? I would return and try different one first. Haven't really seen issue like that and I have experience with every manufacturer. If something doesn't work, it's faulty LCD
