VoLTE and Advanced Calling on Droid Turbo Custom Roms - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo General

I have been watching, waiting, and hoping that someone would figure out and post about being able to use VoLTE or Advanced calling on any of the custom roms (except Computerfreeks), and i am seeing the same scattered information through the forums. I definitely do not have the skills to figure this out, but hopefully some of the skilled developers in this community can post here and work together to figure this out.
I love using a custom rom, and this device is amazing. But the one thing I miss since using @bhb27 custom Resurrection Remix Rom is VoLTE and Advanced Calling.
Moderators... Please don't move this thread to the Turbo 2 forum again. This is for the DROID TURBO, not the 2. thanks.

Well, ZTE figured it out somehow on the ZTE Axon 7 Nougat firmware -- and whatever they did followed over to CM14/LOS on the ZTE Axon 7. Verizon VoLTE on a non-Verizon/non-Google phone.
It was not there on Marshmallow stock firmware nor CM13 for the Axon 7, but is there now for Nougat 7.x.

Verizon VoLTE on non-Verizon phone

This may help you all get VoLTE on the Droid Turbo XT1254.
ZTE Axon 7 which is NOT a Verizon phone nor a Google Nexus/Pixel phone now has CONFIRMED VoLTE on Verizon with a CM/LOS custom ROM.
A user says VoLTE for Verizon is also showing up on the new Nougat firmware ZTE released. This is NOT Verizon firmware nor Google Nexus/Pixel firmware!
Has somebody -- ZTE? -- cracked the secret code?
Have fun!

PSA: Verizon VoLTE works on the LOS 14.1 nightly!
Note the LTE icon, the ongoing call to voicemail, and the speedtest going on in the background. What is this sorcery?!
This makes the Axon 7 the first non-Verizon-approved device to have Verizon VoLTE!
I did enable Advanced Calling services (VoLTE) on another Verizon device a while back (back in the LG G2 days). On my Axon 7, I went into the *#*#4636#*#* menu and turned on VoLTE provisioning (takes a couple of tries to get it to stick), and I verified that Settings > SIM Cards > SIM1 Settings had "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" turned on. Placed a call to voicemail and it was good to go!
EDIT: Also, according to someone on reddit, if you flash gapps and use the Google dialer, you can use native visual voicemail! (no need to download a separate visual voicemail app)
EDIT2: Made a test call to another Verizon customer. The call was definitely HD (displayed "HD" in the dialer and sounded much better than ye-olde CDMA. Also had them call me and leave a voicemail, so I can now personally confirm that not only is the voicemail notification correctly working, but voicemails are correctly parsed by the Dialer and put into the "Visual Voicemail" tab, complete with call number, time, duration, and all you have to do is hit the little Play button to play back the VM!

In my SIM Settings I have Global, in the 4636 menu "LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto (PRL)".
Something extra to check: Login to your Verizon account on your PC > "My Plans and Services" > "Products and Apps" > "Manage Your Products". Verify that you see "HD Voice" listed there. If not, Get Products > Free > subscribe to HD Voice (free). When I first signed up for VoLTE/Advanced Calling/HD Voice back in the LG G2 days, toggling the switch on my phone wouldn't stick, but manually subscribing to it above worked.

To put some context into this...
I've been following the ZTE Axon 7 thread for awhile, because the specs are so great for the price. Google should have bought 1 MILLION of them, loaded on Nougat and sold them as the Pixel XL. Next to the hardware specs of the Axon 7, the Pixel XL is embarrassing -- especially for the price Google is charging. But it doesn't have wireless charging, so I'm not buying one -- but I've kept up with the development.
So, I'm well aware of the Axon 7. It's NOT a Verizon phone, but does have Verizon bands CDMA/LTE. And many people are using it on Verizon.
The CM/LOS dev @Unjustified Dev over there has done a lot of hard work. But the CM13 for Axon 7 did NOT have Verizon VoLTE, nor the did the ZTE stock Marshmallow firmware for the Axon 7...
Now suddenly, not only does the new ZTE Nougat stock firmware release have Verizon VoLTE, so does LOS14 have Verizon VoLTE. WHAT CHANGED?

No. koftheworld, NepoRood and I haven't given up, but life has gotten in the way for most of us. I'm also hampered by the fact that I have almost no idea what I'm doing (the extent of my coding experience is a few basic C++ courses that I took in high school and college), and I just a few days ago got Lineage OS to successfully build from source without any modifications. To be fair, it wasn't my fault. I had to fix a conflict in the device tree that was calling on a function that is not accessible during compiling (a conflict that no one else seems to have, which is something I don't understand). But still, there's a lot of learning as I go going on. BHB27 has been very helpful and given us more than enough to go on, it's just a matter of figuring out what to do with it all and how to test it.
When/if there are any updates on the situation, they will appear here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/dr...olte-stock-roms-xt1254-verizon-t3577072/page5

@glenroebuck: There are two ATIV S models; I'm guessing you got the SGH-T899M since it has LTE? If possible, please test a couple things for me:
1) Go to Settings -> About -> More Info, and list the OS, Radio, and Firmware version numbers.
2) Go to Settings -> Internet Sharing, and try to enable it (even if your plan doesn't support it, tell me what error message you get).
I'm trying to track down something that might be a problem with the phone or might be a problem with the OS or might just be a problem with my device, and there aren't many USA users of the SGH-T899M it seems.
os 8.0.10211.204
Firmware 2212.12.12.2
radio 2212.12.12.2
radio firmware 0.0.0.0
turned it on and it told me there is no cellular data connection to share right now.
Damn... that's the same error I get (even though it's blatantly false; I get that error even while I'm streaming music and downloading apps over said data connection).
Same version info too. They apparently have March and April 2013 updates, but those might only be for the other ATIV S model... I can't get them myself.

that is weird I only ever got it when you had me test it although today in my home city of clevlelad I got lte in some places but not near my home and it completly lost signal...like emergency calls only. I had to reboot to get it back. Did not have those issues in anaheim and Las Vegas both lte areas - but we are not official yet here in cle.
You're on T-Mobile, right? Set the APN to "fast.t-mobile.com" (no username or password) and it should work on both HSPA+ ("4G") and LTE (you'll briefly lose data when switching, but it comes back quickly; if that's too annoying then disable LTE). I think the APN info built into the phone for T-Mobile is wrong or possibly just outdated, which is why it doesn't switch to LTE gracefully and also why tethering doesn't work (tethering uses a different APN, "pcweb.tmobile.com", note the lack of a hyphen in this one).
People with the other model ATIV S have reported that after installing the April firmware update, they're able to install an app called "APN" that automatically configures their phone, including enabling tethering (although probably not LTE, which I believe is unavailable on that model). There is an app called "APNs" in the store for the T899M, but it doesn't have the auto-config option, nor the ability to set a tethering APN.

I used the apn app from samsung to configure fast.t-mobile.com when I was in vegas to get lte to work. It has been working ever since only yesterday was the first time i experienced no network after coming off LTE but again it is not official here in Cleveland so that might be the issue.
Other than that I love this phone. Since I have had a zune account for ever - if I shazam a song it lets me dl it directly from xbox store (zune account = xbox music acccount) Myappfree is a great way to get good apps for nothing. (they have a daily free app) and really any app I would use on android or iphone - there is the same or a similar app here. and the Ativ is such an pretty phone lol...people always ask me "is that the new s4?" then I explain it is a windows phone and they get a blank look

Android for Work compatibility?

I've done quite a bit of searching, and input every search term I can think of, but haven't been able to find an answer to this question: Does anyone know if the Zenfone 2 Laser ze551kl supports Work Profiles for Android for Work?
*EDIT* -- I figured out a way that people can test to see if their phone natively supports Work Profiles (required for Android for Work using Google's MDM): Test DPC, Google's profile test app for developers. If you (or anyone else reading this) is able, could you download Test DPC on your ze551kl and at least go through the initial steps in setup? If the phone doesn't support Work Profiles it will through up a message saying as much (tested the app on an s4, which got that error message) in the first few steps of the setup.
All more general searches I do only bring up results for the recent firmware update that added support to the ze551ml (not the ze551kl). When I narrow the search enough to exclude that model from the results, I only get results for lists of articles or queries that have separate, unrelated posts for ze551kl and Android for Work.
It's too bad all manufacture's don't just include support for the Work Profile (i.e., the AT&T S4 I currently use issued as a work phone still doesn't support it).
So -- does anyone know the answer to this question? I'd really appreciate it.
Its got the ability to have different user profiles, but I'm not sure if that's what you're referring to. Is it an app or would it be in the settings menu somewhere?

It's a bit different than user profiles, but similar.
http://arstechnica.com/information-...r-work-dual-persona-support-comes-to-android/
It essentially creates a containerized section on the phone for Google Apps for Work. You end up with "two" hangouts, gmail, contacts, etc (which is nice, because it removes the account from switching account options in apps -- like when you share to Hangouts and it makes you select an account everytime if you have more than one). Instead of the work accounts device policy enabling it to see all apps installed on phone, have permissions to remote wipe, the Work Profile makes it so that the work account device policy can only see information in the Work Profile, and only has permissions to remote wipe the work profile.
I currently use Android for Work on my Moto X Pure 2014, and carry a separate s4 issued by work. I'd like to just put both of those sims into one phone, but I need something decent, that supports data on both sims (data connection active on both at same time not required), that also supports Android for Work.
Gotcha, I don't really see any Android for work options anywhere in mine, is there anything you had to download from the Play Store on your Moto X to get it working?
Sent from my ASUS_Z00TD using Tapatalk
Unfortunately it's only something you can verify if you start setting up a Google apps account that can use it. Otherwise it doesn't show up anywhere.
I really appreciate you digging around for it though.

How to verify if your T-Mobile Services are really working (WiFi Calling, VoLTE, etc)

Wifi Calling, VoLTE, Video Calling, HD Voice, RCS, Advanced Messaging, etc...
Why Verify? (Reasons):
- If you are using a S8/S8+ SM-G955F/FD Exynos variant on T-Mobile USA and you want to confirm/verify or activate some services... (CSC/Configuration Troubleshooting)
- If you are using a S8/S8+ SM-G955U Snapdragon on T-Mobile USA with another non standard T-Mobile Firmware like Canadian XAC, USA Unlocked XAA, etc... and want to confirm... verify.
- If you are using a S8/S8+ SM-G955U Snapdragon on T-Mobile USA and simply want to make sure everything is working correctly.
- DEV/ROM Troubleshooting
Download & Install Shortcut Master then follow the steps below:
STEP-1 - 1st Make sure you are on LTE! then... follow pictures bellow.

Example: International S8+ SM-G955F with modified ROM/CSC
This is an example of a NON T-Mobile device with some T-Mobile Services working... (Wifi Calling, VoLTE, Video Calling & HD Voice)
Hope this helps...

Yes, you should be able to see your IMS registration with AT&T. Yes, as you mentioned, the problem with AT&T is that they block/prevent IMS registration for certain services because of your IMEI. If the IMEI is from a non AT&T device, they will simply reject IMS registration. Now, in your case, I think the S6 Active IMEI should work fine, I think the problem is your FD variant. International Dual sim models (FD) can't easily register unless you make some heavy software/CSC modifications. For example, I can get WiFi Calling, VoLTE, Video Calling & HD Voice on my S8+ F variant, but only VoLTE & HD Voice on my S8+ FD variant. It is hard to actually have all services running on a dual sim variant. But... it is not impossible because I have WiFi Calling, VoLTE, Video Calling & HD Voice on my S7 Edge FD variant. Hope this helps my friend.

If you are with Rogers, I can tell you right now, no dice.
Since the introduced wifi calling and voice over lte, they implemented imei based discrimination, to allow connections, only with their own devices.
I tested in the past with note 5 tmobile and s7 edge f variant. Loading Rogers csc does set all propper IMS settings, but alas once it syncs and does the check with the tower it disconnects. To get it temporarily back you have to put your sim in Rogers device and give it few minutes. Once it is all up and running, putting sim in non Rogers phone connects to everything fine, for one to ten minutes, then it is disabled again.
Maybe you can con your way into CSR adding your imei into Rogers database, the way they regularly do with Apple bought iPhone, but alas I was never able to.
Unless they change the policy, that is the state of things.

I saw that huawei firmware finder app said there is an update available build 170 but, my p10 plus keeps saying i got latest firmware/android version. I'm on build 162 but it just won't find the build 170, even tried it through Hisuite and that also tells me my phone is up to date.
So anyone else here got the same problem and do anyone here have a easy solution?
P.S: i might have posted this is wrong section. If so, then mods/admins are welcome to move it.
/Thanks
Yes just received today.
I tired to look for it from firmwarefinder/huawei suite the other day as well. Couldnt find it. Hopefully it will reach to you soon.

strange since firmware finder for VKY-L29C432B only says 170 is latest.
So 171 for LC09 could be a update done by carrier? unless you bought it straight as unlocked from plain electronic store?

Strange, 128GB or 64GB? since when I do search on 128GB model VKY-L29C432 it tells me B170 is latest firmware.

yes if you see 2 holes in tray then it's most likely MicroSD and SIM not dual SIM. Since DUAL sim one supports both 2 sims or 1 MicroSD and 1 sim.
Single sim --> B171
Dual sime --> B170
If you are still stucked to a previous version, you can update using firmware finder and proxy function, it worked fine for me, just download the full ota (2.8 gb)

RCS messaging

Ever since I got my s10+ I've been trying to figure out how to get RCS messaging to work. It's no where present on the samsung app and even the google messages app. It wasn't even present on my s7 edge at the time I had that device. I'm with Bell canada but bought my device through samsung canada so it is the unlocked version. I've called Bell and they told me the feature is enabled but yet the option isn't there under settings. I have also called samsung and they couldn't help me. So if anyone knows anything, help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you have RCS on your previous phone?
From what I know, the RCS implementation for android is very fragmented. Samsung messages has some sort of rcs with other samsung devices only, android messages has rcs with different requirements, carrier problems, etc. If you did have RCS on your previous phone with the same carrier, then it is most likely that it was excluded in the current software.

it wasn't even there on my s7. Bell told me it's available
Try this...
1) Download "Carrier Services" from the play store.
2) Make Google Messages the default messaging app.
3) Check Messages / Settings / Advanced to see if "Chat" is available.
its not there

Are you on an unbranded firmware? If so, that might be the reason. When I had my S9+ on my carrier's firmware I had RCS settings in the stock Samsung messages app, when I changed to an unbranded ROM, it disappeared.

I didn't have it on my s7. I switched carriers back in december so I had the phone unlocked and for my s10+ it's unlocked as well but when I put the Bell sim card in, it factory restarted and installed some bell apps on it. I bought the phone directly from samsung
You can try turning on RCS features by downloading the google dialer port, set it as your default phone app and then dial *#*#467#*#*. Under IMS service switch you can turn on RCS and then scroll down to enable RCS features.View attachment 4733708View attachment 4733709

Which version of the google dialer did you use? I've tried a few and none seem to work right - mainly voice mail.

I'm using v30, you have to set it as your default app and also enable permissions. I only use the app for codes, I switch back to the Samsung dialer for regular stuff.

You have to download the Google dialer port, if you just download it from apk mirror it won't work.
Get it from this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-phone-v14-0-175904292-bubble-t3708218

it's enabled but still not showing up in settings
I've actually looked around a bit. Apparently, some carriers label the RCS option differently. Carriers can offer within-carrier RCS with a label called Advanced Messaging, and/or a RCS between carriers as well, typically labeled Universal Profile 1.0. Most likely, RCS within-carrier is enabled by default with some really bad label name. I"m not sure whether you support Universal Profile, which allows RCS communication between carriers as well.
Flash your carriers firmware and itll work.

Doesn't carrier firmware already get loaded when you put in a sim card? It did factory reset when I popped it in.
